Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
That will probably require you to pay an Apple Certified tech to retrieve the memory card. It may even require disassembling your iMac to get it.

  • There i something stuck in my disk drive

My macbook pro has something stuck in the disk drive
can i fish it out or something?
im scared to open it or void warranty

I would take it to your nearest apple store or AASP as you may accidentally damage something in the process of trying to remove it yourself.

  • If something small got stuck in your disk drive what steps do you take to remove it?

Depending on the model of Mac I would first try to tilt the unit to see if you can get whatever you got stuck in there nearer the edge. Do not shake the Mac to move the object - you could cause damage to internal components.
The next best thing is to use a very fine pair of tweezers or pliers and try to remove the object. Sometimes a credit card or firm business card may also help you move the object nearer to the lip of the optical drive.
Be warned though - you are not supposed to stick anything into the optical drive yourself to try and remove something as you could cause further damage. Your best bet is to take it into an Apple Store and have them remove it. Just as another warning though - this would count as accidental damage and so is not covered under your Applecare if you have it. You'll have to pay out of pocket to get the object removed.

  • Something is stuck in my fan

I'm hearing clicking noises from the top part of my macbook, and at first thought it was a hard drive problem, but after removing the battery cover and listening to my hard drive realized that it wasn't my hard drive making the noise. I looked online for a bit, and I think it might be a fan problem, especially since I can't hear it coming on at all anymore even when my computer gets very hot.
Is this something I can fix myself? Does theclicking mean that there is something stuck in the propellers or can it also mean that the fan is dying?

... Sounds as if something is stuck in the fan.
Probably is. They get dusty. Shut down your computer and clean it out with a vacuum (don't blow dust back inside).

  • Something wrong with my CD/DVD drive??

I think there is something wrong with my CD/DVD drive. here are the things I notice:
At time the CD drive will act up and make a little noise (same normal noise as when mac starts up) but for no reason
When I put my mac on stand by, my CD drive decided to make some noise and then it woke the computer from sleep mode
Any suggestions? What could be the problem here?
    Thanks.

There's no reason to install a smaller hard drive. In some cases, it may decrease performance.
Your MacBook Pro comes with a 5400 rpm hard drive, so what you can do is to install a smaller, 7200 rpm hard drive, so you will get a better performance. Any 2'5" SATA hard drive will work, but you can have a look at OWC for hard drives > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
HGST and Seagate hard drives have a good reputation, so you can purchase one of them

hey guys, so I have a DVD stuck in the CD drive on my mac. It reads it as being in there, but I cannot eject it and it is causing my a lot of issues with my mac. If i try to eject it, Finder acts up and I have issues saving projects or even browsing files. I feel like it interferes with iPhoto as well because it says it is locked and I have no rights to view it. I wanted to see if anyone else had/s this issue and how you fixed it before lugging it into the apple store and being without a computer for a few weeks...

A few other suggestions here as well:

  • How do you eject a cd stuck in your disk drive??

how do you eject a cd stuck in your disk drive??

    Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • Something is stuck in my headphone exit.

Tried to connect my headphones to my ipod nano when i noticed that it only would go halfway in. I look inside the exit and obviously something is stuck in there.
Any idea about how to get it out?

This has never happened to me before. But I will tell you what I would do if it did: get one of those wooden BBQ skewer sticks, put superglue on the flat end, and insert into hole. The risk here is that you cannot let the glue touch the sides, or anything else besides that foreign object. Let the glue dry, and pull the stick out. Hopefully, it will pull out whatever is in there. Let me know :-)
    Kinda like playing Operation (;

  • Something's stuck in my iMac disc drive?

I put a disk in this morning, and I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye a piece of paper or something go in with the disc. I thought I was imagining things, but now it can't read any discs and ejects any disk I put in there.
Anybody know how to check if there's something in there, and how to get it out? (My iMac is a 2.16 ghz core 2 duo, if that makes a difference).
    Help!

Hi, wrap a piece of double sided selotape around a thin piece of card about 12" X 1" - slide it into the cd drive and the tape should allow you to pull it out..careful & slow are the Best words...L

  • Something stuck in my optical drive

And unluckily it's not a CD or DVD. There's an SD card stuck in there (never lend anything to your housemates) and I've tried to grab hold with a piece of paper, and also inserted and ejected a CD to try and coax it out but it just won't move. What are my options and if it needs to be fixed in the Apple Store will it be covered on AppleCare?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Options may be few, depending on how far in it actually went. (It's not like you can insert tweezers or pliers in there...)
The fact that you got a CD in and out of it sounds like the SD card might be accessible if you can get the drive out. This MIGHT help: http://fastmac.com/downloads/macbook_superdrive.pdf. (You mostly will be interested in steps 1-31, max.)
Please note the term "might." There are no guarantees. Once you have the drive out, you might be able to open it up and remove the card. It's a lot of work, but beats shaking the MacBook to dislodge it, possibly scratching the reader in the process.
Outside of that, a trip to the Apple store sounds like it's in order. I do not know if AppleCare will cover this.

  • Something stuck in the optical drive.

I went to put a DVD into my drive and the disk will not go in. It's as if something is already in there. Nothing shows up on my desktop as being in the drive and when I look in Disk Utility I don't see anything either. I also looked under Finder and nothing is being shown there. I know I have not placed a disk in there and now I'm fearing that the drive may have died on me. I am just out of the warranty period and I really don't want to lug this behemoth to the nearest Apple store to only pay an arm and a leg for a new superdrive. I can't even recall the last time I used the disk drive. It's hardy used at all. Is there something that I'm overlooking or maybe a simply solution to this problem? Thanks in advance!
    -Ian

X423424X - None of those worked at the time of the issue. I have considered an external player but I'm not sure which kind of drive to purchase.
babowa - I hope that's not the case and I hope it was just a small temporary issue.
Mike Sombrio - I somewhat tried what you suggested. I did it as the last attempt before going to bed and reading your suggestion. I unplugged the mac from the wall after shutting down and left it there until the morning. I plugged it back in and the drive is alive again! It took my DVD just fine and things seem to be back to normal. So weird that this happened.
    Thanks everyone for your help!

  • CD stuck in my CD drive

I inserted a smaller than a regular sized disk into my macbook pro's CD drive and now I can't get it out. What should I do?

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If yo want to try using a credit card to try to guide it out of the drive but I would be afraid of damaging something.

  • I have a problem with my home butten, its working but when i press it, it seems like something is stuck in it. like sand or something like that, and this is the second time it happens to me with 2 devices. what can i do?

Ok so first sorry for my english, Im not American.
2 months ago i bought a new Iphone 4 device from my phone company, after a month something happened to the home butten, when i pressed it it felt like something stuck in it.. like sand or dirt.. but the home butten worked perfectly. so i went to the phone company and they told me that it is a problem and they replaced it with a new one. but after a week my iphone fell and something happened to him so i sold it to someone i know, and with that money i bought a new one from privet store (unlike the last time, when i bought my iphone in a big phone company) and in the begining it felt new, i didnt had any problems, but 2 days ago when i woke up i pressed the butten and i noticed that the problem with the home butten is back.. and i dont know what to do.. i mean like its not a big deal or something, it just that when i buy something new, i excpet it to be new, and i want to ejnoy it while its new.
so i went to some guy i know and he told me that he will see what he can do, i paid him 130 Shekels (35$) and he told my that he replaced the butten with new one, but still it makes problems. it bothers me alot, because i pay almost 300 shekels per month (75$) and i expect from this device to be new.. and its killing me.
now, i cant go to the phone company because thats not their device, and i know what the people in the privet store will tell me.. that its my fault and bla bla bla.. so what can i do? i cant spend any more money on this..
its new.. for some reason this always happenes to me.. 3 devices, problems problems and problems..

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..
