i've got a macbook pro that is about 3 years old..running 10.6.8
2.4Ghz intel core 2 duo with 4GB ram
its been running fine until a week ago
i've been getting the color wheel quite frequently and been having
to force a reboot by holding down the start button
i can't seem to isolate the problem, but i just kind of cleaned out
applications i don't use any more
ran some utilities like onyx and cocktail
has not really helped
i'm wondering if there is another diagnostic tool that i can run somewhere?
also is there a crash log that i can print out to try and analyze what happend
at the last freeze up? there is nothing i the crash log inside the library folder right now

From template to DVD - something goes wrong, but where to fix it?!?!

This one really has me stumped, because to test each variation in the workflow could take me to the end of time (which is 2012 apparently!). I do apologise in advance for the forthcoming length but its a bit of a complicated one.
In short, I have shot an HDV project, digitised into FCP as HDV 1080i and used apple pro res 422 (HQ) as the compressor.
All went as per usual, looking good, but then I decide to add a template, bought from a third party supplier (trusted and used before).
Used the template in Motion 3, exported a quick time .mov using pro res 422 (HQ) and added to my sequence. All looked fine, a bit choppy in the canvas but when encoded to .flv it looked good.
Today however, I have burnt to DVD for the first time, and the main HDV footage and project looks fine, but the template aspect looks wrong - it can best be described as flicker, like a very slight field dominance issue.
So, I have spent all of today trying different exports from Motion, different exports from FCP and different settings on compressor - all to no avail - the template designer is even stumped too!
The problem is I don't know at which point of the process I'm getting it wrong, on export from Motion, on export from FCP or in compressor.
Will filters such as de-flicker applied to the clip in FCP have any effect or once its exported from motion thats it - no changes can happen to it.
To add to this nightmare, the original template is 24 fps! I have exported it as 25fps, but I wonder if its even do-able at all with this starting point?
I would also put a clip online, but it looks fine online, its only got the issue on UK TV. The template is flying screens from right to left, with moving text, and they flicker as they move.
So, over to you, well done if you read all the way to the bottom! Thanks.

The first thing I would try is to export the template as Pro Res 422 NOT HQ. The HQ does nothing for HDV footage and may be over processing it. For sure it makes the file larger. Second, is the template an HD template or are you enlarging to fit? Try an export with the field dominance set to none. No easy answer I can see. Trial and error will take time for sure! Good luck,

When I try to connect my iphone to itunes it will not work, but when I connect an ipod it will. This is telling me something is wrong with my phone I am jsut not sure what that is. Can someone help me.

It will not connect to itunes, all that comes up is a phone icon on my desk top(which doesn't allow me to do anything with) But when I connect an ipod it does connect to itune and I am abble to look at how much room is left, and the option to restore ect) . Have you went to Settings>General Time&Date and correct the time. Make sure the time zone is correct too. Also go to Settings>General>Inernational and make sure the Gergorian calender is selected.

I have a PowerBook 145B but something is wrong with the systemfolder so it wont boot. I've downloaded System 7.0.1 from Apple and put it on Floppys with my Macintosh Classic. The PowerBook boots from the floppy, after a minute its just white. What to do?

I've tried a lot of things, but my Macintosh classic (with original floppys) runs 7.0.0. And the PowerBook needs atleast 7.0.1 and did run 7.1.0 as original OS.
How do I fix this?

Because your PowerBook 145B shipped with OS 7.1, it can't run an earlier version of the Mac OS, such as 7.0.1. Unfortunately, Apple never made OS 7.1 available for download. You can run OS 7.5.1, 7.5.3, and 7.5.5 on your PowerBook, but I'd recommend doing so with the maximum amount of supported memory - 8 MBs. The 19-part download of OS 7.5.3 is segmented, so that each one will fit on a 1.44 MB floppy disk. The problem is that the 19-diskette set isn't an installer set as such, having no bootable disk. It's solely intended to be used to transfer the individual segments to the resident hard drive in the computer. Once that's done, double-clicking the first .smi segment creates the OS 7.5.3 installer disk image on the desktop, which you drag onto the hard drive icon. This produces a folder with the OS 7.5.3 installer in it. I've done this before with an old Mac LC and it works. You can also download the 3-diskette OS 7.5.5 Update and run that. These downloads can be found on the same page where you found the OS 7.0.1 download: Older Software Downloads.

Workflows completes but goes to "Sorry something went wrong" page

I have been working weeks on a project to use workflows for a business process. It is as simple as setting variables and sending email to people.
I have successfully created a site workflow and published it. When I start the workflow, it starts fine but then show me this (very annoying and always unhelpful) error --> Sorry,
something went wrong. An unexpected error has occurred.
Funny thing, the workflow stills completes fine and I get the email notification I created in the workflow! No errors messages in the workflow history either - completely clean.
Is there any reason for this? I am concerned since it will be used by a large group of people monthly and this is a huge "NO" for UX experience and usability...
I have tried linking the Correlation ID to anything and looking through server logs. I have got nothing.
Help please? :)

get the time that the error occurs, and recheck the log file that during this time, whether there is related information.

What did Apple tell you about what they did (or did not) find here?
See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't.

First. I'll make another post about this but worth mentioning - the dialogue when opening Cortana then having to connect with a MS account is barely usable. The "Next" button is completely black so had to guess that was where to click. When I select
any other window or click outside the dialogue disappears until I hit the Start button, Windows Key or the Cortana/Search button. Makes it near impossible to say copy what is written there when something goes wrong...
Not that MS will care or do anything right?
Anyway. Domain account, no restrictions that I know of from that side (my home/test domain). Attempt to connect MS account and get below literally not even a second later, it's basically an instant failure with the message:

if you have no back up in icloud or itunes the best you can do is sync with your computer and get back what you can from there

It sounds like it's failing to find the boot drive. You may want to try holding down the CMDOPT+PR keys when you power it up. Let it POST (the chime sound) three times and see if it boots.
If it doesn't, each symbol that the machine shows means something, please tell us EXACTLY what you see.
