Something just came out of my Macbook charger....help? (pics included) :'(

Okay so I just plugged my charger into my Macbook Pro then I pulled it out to put it the other way
and this little gold pin thing was sticking out of the hole on my laptop.
It was kinda magnetic and I took it out...then I put my charger back in & it's seems to be fine and working.
Should I just ignore it? Get a new charger? Or what?

Your issue reminds me of one of Murphy’s laws: any new product has useless components (or something like that).
I do hope I may laugh, otherwise I would also suggest to visit an Apple specialist.

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This will install the version of OS X that originally came with your model if you have a model that supports Internet Recovery - 2010 models and later: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery.

    Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    And that did the trick.

ITUNES 7.1 JUST CAME OUT I HEARD.....So for all of you who have had problems check it out,,i am gonna see if its true right now..

iTunes 7.0.1 Installed, 30 GIG Video IPOD updated..working like a charm!
FYI..When I had 7.0 I had to restore one time, that seemed to fix some of the issues with the reboot. I said why not give 7.0.1 a try for any other updates, and it's all good!

  • The new Time Capsule just came out!

The new Time Casule just came out!

We should all aware of potential but denied RF radiation.  I put plants away from the routers too, or they die.
But you're right. A power line timer may ruin the Time Machine backups if it is doing one while the power line timer switches off.  Apple had never responded to it.
Go purchase one and test the scenario. If such case happens, return it within 14 days with a written report/complaint.
    Options:
    1) install a TimeMachineScheduler which turns off your Time Machine backup process before the power line timer turns off the Time Capsule.
    2) Write your own Apple Script to do a similar thing.
Note: this new version of Airport Time Capsule (as of 2013/6/12) has a new feature "Beamforming" which will concentrate the radiation (like a laser gun) towards your receiving 802.11ac WiFi device, and thus the user.  The radiation will be focused and follows any WiFi devices even they are mobile.  If you want to avoid it, you may add a new AirPort Extreme to extend the network and thus to shift the Beamforming direction only to the AirPort Extreme, instead of you. Cons: the WiFi radiation from the AirPort Extreme will be added on the total radiation in your living/working area.

  • Magnetic Charger Port in Z2 came out along with the Charger

Hi Sony Users, I never ever expected such kind of quality problem from Sony. Today, I kept my phone for charging using magnetic charger. When I removed the charger once battery was fully charged, the magnetic charging port in phone itself came out along with the charger. I am really disappointed with what happened and I really dont know what to do now. If parts are getting easily removed from phone like this, then how does "water-proof" feature in phone is supposed to work? I am really really disappointed.  I am actually thinking to switch to some other brand like Apple.

Sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • Im going to go to apple to show my phone that my wi-fi wasnt working and now iv droped my phone and the hole screen came out, its not mashed it just came out, but work, so now im worried apple my wont take care of it

im going to go to apple to show my phone that my wi-fi wasnt working and now iv droped my phone and the hole screen came out, its not smashed it just came out, butstill works, so now im worried apple my wont take care of it, what will they do ??  it was a bran new phone

You are correct to worry. There is no way for Apple to know if the wifi problem was before or after the drop. If you have Apple Care +, you can get a replacement device for a deductible. If not, user damage is not covered under the warranty or regular Apple Care. You would need to see if they will repair the screen (at your cost), or if you would have to purchase an out of warranty replacement.

  • Can I trade my MacBook Air for a new MacBook Air that just came out?

I was wondering that I bought the MacBook Air in November of 2010 and I would like to get the new MacBook Air can I just do a trade from Best Buy or Apply?

Well... you can return your Air as part of Apple's recycle program and get an Apple Gift Card for it's value.  Unfortunately, they (well, a company that does this sort of thing) sets the "value" which is nothing close to what you would be able to get on your own:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/computer/
I don't think anyone intended to insult you.  You sort of implied in your original post that you should be able to exchange something that you purchased 8 months ago.  In fairness, I'm aware of very few places that offer a return policy that liberal.  When you clarified that you could pay up front to be guaranteed a certain percentage of the original value over time... that certainly made more sense (although Apple does not offer the exact thing... but only what I had posted the link to above).
Having said all that... when I purchased my Air, it was only about a month or so before the new ones came out.  I knew that the new ones were coming out.  I was actually concerned about the loss of the dedicated GPU and the fairly significant drop in GPU performance with the integrated Intel processor.  Granted, the new processors are about twice as powerful... that's significant.  But, I don't really do anything processor intensive on my machine.  So doubling the power for me was a non-issue.  I do just want the OS to run smoothly and fluidly and the nVidia GPU in the machine that you (and I) have does a great job.  So not only did I know that new Airs were coming out, I bought mine because I didn't want the newer model.  Of course the new Airs have Thunderbolt as well... but I'm not expecting that to take off for a while yet (and USB 2.0 has worked fine for me for years).  If you do processor intensive stuff, you could have good reason for wanting the newly released Air (although in getting the last model, I would expect you did't have heavy duty processing needs).  I personally am happy I have the previous model and the release of the new model does not devalue mine in the least.

  • Is there any incentive from Apple for people that bought the Ipad Air just before the Ipad Air 2 just came out?

It looks prety frustrating knowing that a better and cheaper ipad came out just a few days after buying the "old" one

Yes... and not: Technology is always moving forward, of course. But is rare that new and more performant products are cheaper than previous ones. When that happens, some companies decide to give updates (with softwares) or some gifts to the last buyers of the previous version (I remember that happened once with the iphone, when Apple decided to give some money back to people that bought the previeus version in the previous 2 months). In my case it came out 3 weeks after I bought it, then no possible return for me. However thanks for the answer! of course is not a big deal...

  • Hi, Firefox 4 just came out. I have it on my macbook and my iMac. My iMac just downloaded Firefox 5? But on my macbook it says Firefox 4 is up to date? Is Firefox 5 for real? What's going on here?

The question is sufficient. How is 5 out so soon? why doesn't my macbook find it? only my imac?

You can check which update channel you are on by doing the following:
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page.
    # Search for the preference '''app.update.channel'''
If the value is set to ''release'', you should only be updated when there is a new end-user release. If the value is set to ''beta'', you will be updated with every beta version. If you had a beta version installed, and now it is set to the release channel, you probably re-downloaded/installed an end-user version of Firefox using the DMG file at some point since then.
Why Firefox 5 so soon? Mozilla has started moving to a "Rapid Release Schedule" to get improvements out to end-users quicker. You'll find that Firefox 5 looks pretty much the same as Firefox 4.

  • A recommendation to upgrade to Firefox 6.o just came out. When I started to upgrade, I was advised that my antivirus software would be disabled (Avasti) So far I have justmstopped the upgrade process as I want an antivirus running. Any suggestions?

If I upgrade I will not have an antivirus

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

Does anyone know what is going on?

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • Does anyone know about the update that just came out for the s3 a few days ago.

does it fix all of the bugs that people like me were having with 4.3 like apps crashing, huge battery drain and phone lagging. I have not heard anything about it and I want to hear more about it before I start to download the update in case it completely messes up my phone. I hope it fixes my problems and does not give me anymore problems.

It simply just allows roaming on the Canadian Telus network.  That's all folks,
