Something keeps firing up when i load firefox

For some reason recently, Firefox has been slow to load webpages. also when I fire up my laptop from cold ie after turning it off. My home page comes up but also this link keep firing up

I don't have a clue what it is or why

It started since the update of the plugin downloadhelper to 4.9.3, they've added that popup so it opens a new window or a new tab. I looked in firefox config and the registry but dont know where the value is stored to stop it.

I get a virus djmixi when I load firefox.

i loaded firefox, and chrome after having only microsoft browser. Somehow I got a virus, it took over my searches with something like "djmixi" or similar. That virus took over all my browsers. It took a half day for me to remove the virus-I'm not particularly talented with computer science- I eventually had to remove all the browsers and reinstalled microsoft. Then things were fine. except I miss firefox and when I reinstalled it, the djmixi thing came back, so I deleted firefox again. Any ideas?

hello, this sounds like a problem caused by adware on your pc. please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

When I load firefox it does not load my default page, and any page I try to load does not display, only showing (untitled).

I have Windows XP SP2 and when I load firefox 4 beta 8 it just sits trying to load the page and I have to end up killing the process. What is the problem?

When I start firefox 4 beta 8 I had it set to go to www.google.com. The pages comes up but then Firefox just have the green circle going endlessly and the web site never finishes loading. I restarted firefox 3.6 and it has no problems at all. I tired Chrome and Safari and have no problems using their browsers.

My computor had been overly slow which was not normal when looking at processes running in task manager I found plugin-container.exe to be using alot of memory. Probably the easiest way is to download Firefox again from http://www.mozilla.com and re-install it.

When I load firefox I do not get the yellow bar at very top. Why not?

I have loaded Firefox 5.0 and I do not get the yellow bar across the very top that all the instructions show and that shows on my daughters computer.

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden, so you need to hide the Menu bar via View > Toolbars, also accessible via Firefox > Options.
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.
You can place the Tab Bar on top.

Fire Fox loads twice on when I start it up I am using Windows XP Service pack three installed

* Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
* Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

Which security software (firewall) do you have?
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Some times when I load Firefox, I get a message saying Firefox is already running. The only solution I have found is to reboot the system.

This happens when no other processes are running. Looks to me like their should be a option in the message to stop the running process.

How do I remove the "new tab" that keeps flashing up when I start Firefox?

Unwanted extensions often are installed at the system level as part of a bundle. Therefore, I suggest starting here:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Next, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
(1) In the left column, click Plugins. If you find a plugin that you don't recognize or which doesn't sound essential, try setting it to "Never Activate". (The most essential Plugin is Shockwave Flash. You can use most sites without the others.)
(2) In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
