Something Looks Very Wrong

Not sure if this is ARD issue, but:
Came back into house to find G5 on full fans and blank screen. After re-boot looked in system.log and it is head to tail (including after reboot) with these lines:

Don't have a clue what that IP address is. I pinged it and this is what I got:

Don't know what that means - unlike anything I've seen on a ping before. The paranoid in me wonders if my system is being compromised in some way? Can anyone shed light?

i've been using Adobe Muse for some months now and i was happy because until now everything was ok.
i have been uploading the same site for many times and it's been fine for up to now. But suddenly something went wrong
i am on Mac 10.8.2 and problem accours only on Chrome 23.0.1271.64 (i guess the most fresh for Mac) — i have to note that on Firefox and Safari site still looks just fine as it does inside Muse in "preview site in browser" mode.
what is the problem — take a look
As you can see — the problem is in the navigation bar, and it is permanent on all pages of the site.
a small explanation — as far as i know, there is no nice navigation solution inside Muse for sites with hundreds of subpages (like mine). I would like to use navigation like accordion widget, and place another accordion inside for subpages and the another one inside for sub-sub pages — and i can do that and it works — unless i click on the particular page link — then i go to the page, but accordion closes up, and though i can mark "active" state — navigation accordion still is closed. If Muse team could update this and make accordion to stay open on "active" menu link, it would be great!
but for now i am stuck with this silly text block as navigation bar and now it is broken (inside Chrome for mac) and i truly need Your help! What to do for my Muse site to look good again inside Chrome.

i checked my Muse-created page on an really old PC that runs WinXP. I tested site both on Firefox and Chrome and (guess what) — the same but with overlapping text appears on Chrome and does not appear on Firefox.
so it means that this ir PERMANENT BUG for CHROME.
Still Chrome is very popular browser, and i am very worried about my Muse-site not displaying porperly in Chrome browser.
Please, could anyone from Adobe staff take a look at the site code and recomend some solution?

Something is VERY wrong with my GarageBand...

I have Garageband 3.0.4 and just today when I tried editing a previously recorded song that contained loops, all of the loops got jumbled together, then disappeared, then wouldn't go back to normal. I can't even explain it too well, it looks like a virus has taken over it; it is VERY bizarre. Anytime I click any of the loops, it will erase them or jumble them together. It seems that ever since I upgraded my MacBook to Leopard from Tiger, everything on my computer has started to go downhill. Has anyone experienced any of these problems? PLEASE HELP
P.S. These are some other problems with my Mac that I posted as a Discussion Question earlier, but I haven't gotten an answer:
Ever since I upgraded my MacBook to Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 from Tiger (and also purchased and installed Office Mac 2008), it will not wake up from sleep. If I close it while it is still awake, (which I normally would without problems before I upgraded) it will not wake up when I open it; the screen just stays black and I have to use the power button to restart it. This also happens when it falls asleep naturally after being on screen saver. It is a really big annoyance and I know that it must be damaging my computer.
Also, now it will randomly shut down if it does not have the power adapter plugged in, which never happened before.
ALSO, my CD burn attempts will fail midway and say "medium write error".
Can my computer not handle all of the new software I put on it or something? I feel as though it's slowly deteriorating, and it's not even 2 years old. Do I need to buy more memory or disk space? I am really clueless as to how to fix these problems. I'm only 16 and really can't afford to spend money on getting it looked at, so PLEASE help

Backup is at 42% with 3-Blu-ray(25GB) something is very wrong.

About 3 to 4 month ago are computer downloaded Adobe 11, but could not install. A sercurity message from Norton 360 premier said their was a problem, so I called Norton and they said to call HP support. I called HP support and told them what happen and they remotely fix the problem, I thought. To make a long story short they had after multiple remote sessions connected a HP personal media drive(1TB) to the c: drive(1TB) mirrored E: drive(1TB) and I have 500GB HP Pocket Media Drive. I was told to buy a extenal harddrive which I did, 750GB in size, then another one at 1TB in size they ar both full, so I'm using 25GB Blu-ray disk for backups. I 'm not teck savvy which I told HP support and all I wanted was to save Data, Pics, Docs and personal information. Some teck savvy friends told me to buy two new internal hard drives and get the HP Recovery Disk and start all over. Then take the harddrives and have a professional extract all recoverable Data, Pics, Docs, and any other personal information. Personally I think I've been hoodwinked. Second, I'm having problems with the wireless network. Called HP support they told me it was AT&T U-verse problem so I called AT&T they check the line, modem and router and they said everything check out aright, but they said we are going to send a replacement. I called HP support told them what AT&T said and the spent 3-4 hrs. and told me there is something wrong with the printer and they are sending me a re condition replacement.

Please post the exact HP product number for your PC. What operating system are you running?
Mirroring hard drives is good for redundancy but not for increasing space. If you are taking frequent backups then you don't need to mirror the hard drive.
Part of the given advice is partially correct.
Using a program that is capable of taking differential backups would allow you to maximize your external storage devices. Once the external devices start reaching capacity and you don't need the older versions of the data then just reset the backup set and start fresh by creating a new backup set.
Unless you are using BD-RE then cost and backup time is something to consider. I would recommend that you only use BD media for write once archived data.

Since the last update Firefox has been crashing constantly and something is VERY WRONG with the update!!!!!!!!! Why?

Since the last update to Firefox, I have had crashes non stop about every ten minutes or so, with very typical use. The update SUCKS and is crashing computers. I am SURE I am not the only one. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP. I have been a Firefox user forever, but now going to Chrome and Explorer until I hear from you about fixing this issue. Never before have I had this problem with Firefox. Bums me out. But I can't deal with the constant crashes and it is ABSOLUTELY since the last update a day or two ago.

Java - Something's very wrong

I use the gotomypc remote access service website which is entirely Java based. For more than a year I have happily toiled away with my various macs accessing my office pc using gotomypc. However in the last week or so it has stopped loading the java applet. All my macs (g4 powerbook, G5 powerpc, G5 imac and this G5 imac intel - running 10.4.9 in their various ways) have stopped running it in Firefox or Safari. The page comes up blank with a small red x in the top left and a message at the bottom which reads "applet javaviewer notloaded".
I spoke to citrix (gotomypc) and they said it was my computers - perhaps a dodgy update. I am FLATTERED to think I am the only person in the world on whom this affliction has been visited ... but I doubt that is the case.
THere seems to be nothing on the internet. Does anybody have a clue what I am up against here?

Something is VERY wrong with iTunes patch 10.5.2.11

After a 5th (clean) reinstall and even system restore it's STILL not working and frozen while accessing the store. Unrecoverable error with no message... reinstalling older version not possible as it says files are missing. 3 hours later and I have had a gutfull... what's going on?
Only thing I have done different is registered with Ping and then installed the patch released earlier today.

(Win XP-SP2 & Above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/ choose "Command Prompt"
In the Command Prompt screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now

Internet browseing, FONTS LOOK VERY WEIRD (BLURRY) NEW TO MAC!

hey everyone, adam here...just switched from windows to mac last week and still have a lot of questions... one thing that ive been wondering tho is why a lot of the fonts when browseing and such now seem to look very blurry, as well as some pictures...fonts that didnt look this way in windows..is there some way to change this, or is this just something i dont know about..
it does this only on firefox,and i cant figure out why, it looks fine on safari?

Sounds like font smoothing.
In System Preferences>Appearance what "Font smoothing style" is selected?
Also what is the size set for turning off font smoothing? You might try selecting a higher number.

SECURITY BUG : You're sure your WPA is on ? You may be very wrong !

Here is the problem.
Some networks created on AirPort Extreme base station are wide open with no security on EVEN IF THE AIRPORT UTILITY SAYS SO !
I hard rest my new AirPort Extreme, went throught the setup wizard to create a closed network with WPA2 Personal on. I checked the settings once the base was restarted but, to my surprise, I COULD CONNECT TO MY NETWORK WITHOUT PASSWORD, from my PDA and my neighbourg laptop. The network wasn't even closed !! I double checked the AirPort utility : it said that WPA was ON which is definitely NOT true.
To confirm that, I choose to extend my network with my other base (Express). No problem except for the fact that, to access the Extreme base, the Express setting was : "open network, no security" (in preferred network, network preferences panel)
MY ADVICE : don't trust what the AirPort utility says about security. It MAY be very wrong. You have to check if it is on or off using another device (Wifi PDA, a friend's laptop, whatever)
Others users here found the same issue. I'm definitely not alone here. To me, this is a serious bug requiring a firmware update. Reply to this post if you have a similar problem.

I found the reason of my problem. This is indeed a problem with the AirPort utility. More an interface problem, let's say.
The key is that the AirPort utility can be confusing when extending your network. And what can happens is that you end up with 2 NETWORKS with the SAME NAME, 1 with WPA and 1 with no security. And because of the default setting of the network preferences panel, you will automatically connect to the open one if anything happens on the WPA one. That is what happened to me. When extending the network of my main new Extreme, I somehow got an open network with the same name on my Express. And because this one was always plugged during my tests & hard resets of the Extreme, I always got connected to the open network, by default. So the AirPort was not completely wrong after all.
KEY POINTS to avoid that and have a clean nice new WPA/WPA2 network :
- Hard reset and configure the first base that will be your main one (WDS Main or simply the one connected to the Internet for a non-WDS network)
- Be sure all the others bases are unplugged... Just to be sure
- To set up your network on this first base, in the Airport Utility, don't use the wizard by clicking on "Continue". It is quite bad. Simply double-click on your base station with the weird name : it will open the settings page. Go to Wireless and create your new network with all appropriate options (WPA/WPA2 for example)
- Don't use the "Closed Network" option so far. You'd better wait for your network to be completely extended, with all your bases. Or you will be in pain in the process of adding new bases !! For example, if you want to extend your WDS closed network, you cannot do it with the AirPort Utility Wizard because it will not show it in the list of available networks (and this list does NOT propose the "Other..." option where you can type the name of your network...)
- Still before adding any other extensions base, if you want to set up a WDS network, enter ALL the AirPort IDs of your other "remote" bases now, in the WDS tab.
- In general, don't use the Wizard when it is no necessary. You can do quite everything directly from the Settings page of your base. EXCEPT ONE ! To add a WDS Remote, USE THE WIZARD ! It looks like the complexe procedure to "register" a remote on a WDS main is not complete you enter the settings manually on your remote. And, be carefull, when adding a WDS remote, the AirPort utility will ask you several passwords. The first one is to connect to your (not closed) main network. But after, to complete the registration of your remote on the main, the utility asks for a password. IT IS THE MAIN Base Station password, NOT the network password (the prompt window is so confusing).
- When you're done with all your stations one by one, check that every one has a different IP ! I know, weird, but in my previous problem with 2 networks with the same name, I noticed that both stations had 10.0.1.1 address. at the same time. A good indication that you have 2 networks right ?
- Finally, go to your Network preferences panel, Airport section. Switch automatic to preferred networks and just clean up the mess here Just keep your network and check the level of security.
So AT LAST, here is my situation, in my tiny appartment :
- 1 Extreme connected on my cable modem, WDS Main, closed WPA2 network, 25% power transmition, wireless clients allowed.
- 1 Express plugged in my bedroom (3 meters away...), WDS Remote, 25% power transmition and NO wireless client allowed (so my MacBook Pro connects ONLY on the Extreme base)
- 1 HP Photosmart C5180 Ethernet printer connected on my Express with a ethernet cable.

You are talking to fellow users on these forums, not iTunes Support or Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your phone number from your post.
For the Camera app, try closing it via the taskbar and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Camera app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the iPad's screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
In terms of syncing, you will need iTunes on your computer - if you haven't already downloaded it then you can do so from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can conncet the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar on iTunes 11 on a PC via control-S), and use the tabs on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to sycn your content to the iPad.

For the excel file, what app are you viewing/editing it in ? If the values are different then it may be that the app that you are using doesn't support all the formulas that are being used in the spreadsheet. Apps that 'support' excel documents include Apple's Numbers app, and from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.

Oh no! Something has gone wrong... after update

Hi all!
Yesterday I updated my Arch with `pacman -Syu`. After reboot all gone fine until GDM load. From now on I get background briefly displayed and after 1 second or so I get a screen with:
Oh no! Something has gone wrong.
A problem has occured and the system can't recover. Please contact a system administrator.
...and a picture of a monitor with sad emotion
Not too informative.
I've looked syslog, messages, dmesg, gdm logs and found nothing special in them. Trying to `rc.d stop gdm` spawns it again with same symphtoms.
I have ThinkPad E420 (Intel graphics) if it matters.
Where should I look to narrow down the problem? Thanks in advance.

Gnome 3.16 "Oh no! Something has gone wrong."

Hello there, I just received the gnome update and everything works fine but a big message from gnome: "oh no, something has gone wrong".
I can still use gnome by pressing the "super" key and accessing my programs but this message overlays most of my double screen setup. Also I can't see the top menu normally, but it works fine when I hit the "super" key.

I'm not sure what exactly triggers the error, but it's definitely wacom tablet related. I'm using a laptop with a wacom touchscreen/tablet(thinkpad x220 tablet) so I can't really disconnect the tablet during session start. Out-of-the box, gnome control center does not recognize a wacom tablet, although it still works and shows up in xinput fine except for the eraser on the stylus. Installing the xf86-input-wacom driver makes the tablet settings in gcc show up. On every session start it says that the tablet needs calibration and the calibration tool does not register stylus clicks(it did in 3.14) and eventually hangs and I have to killall gnome-control-center in order for it to go away.
edit: So I found out one thing that triggers the error every time. Rotating the screen. In order to use my laptop properly in tablet mode, I have to flip the screen 180 degrees. I have a button that does this and there is one in display settings in gcc. Either of those brings up the 'Oh no' thing evety time. Weirdly enough, rotating 90 degrees only(portrait mode) does not trigger the error.
Disconnecting my wacom "solved" the problem. Also i noticed that some basic interactions (such as copy-paste and double click on nautilus folders) does not work properly.

[Solved-ish] Oh No! Something has gone wrong! Gnome 3

Edit: it should be noted that Gnome Classic works as does Cinnnamon.

Oh no! Something has gone wrong is an error message that gnome gives when you try to log on. It looks somewhat like this.
If I knew the error I'd fix it. Unfortunately Gnome doesn't give any more detail. I checked the gdm an xorg logs and I couldn't figure it out. Thats why I posted them to see if anyone else could. I do not know what other information I should supply.

Something has gone wrong with my version of pages since I did an update on 18th January. I get an error message
"You need a newer version of Pages to open this document"

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You have a problem when opening a file with the wrong version.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
