Somethings Wrong With K7N2G-ILSR

I tried to upgrade my bios, when i tried to restart the machine it would never boot up. The Tech Support said my bios was damage, so they sent me a new one. I installed it properly and have the same problem. I press the power button constanly, and it turned on for a second and cut back off. Help please open to any suggestion

also could it be my power supply going out?

  • Great problems with K7N2G-ILSR onboard raid controller

I have really great problems with my s-ata raid controller. First of all i had a 40GB HDD attached to IDE3. Worked really fine.
Later on my system crashed and my raid controller seemed to be dead. (no "no array is defined" no "press crtl-f to enter setup,...).
Then I attached a s-ata drive to the first s-ata interface. Suddenly the raid controller said: "no array is defined, press ctrl-f to enter setup". I entered setup an built an array an restarted my computer. Again: "No array is defined, press crtl-f to enter setup."
Now my raid controller seems to be dead again cause it doesnt say a word again.
Please help me if you can. (Besides i tried to solve the problem with updating my bios. I tried all versions from v1.0 to v1.3 but there was no result.)

I have already tried two different types of Ram. 512 MB DDR 333 (I don't know the timing exactly but it's a CL2.5 Ram) and another one from a different manufacturer. Also DDR 333 CL 2.5. Then I combined both. But the raid controller didn't show any reaction and I can't imagine that the problem is the power supply because everything else works fine. Anyway... I will try to get a new K7NG2-ILSR on guarantee, sell my whole computer and buy the new K7N2-Delta because I have only problems with the K7N2G-ILSR.

  • Kingmax memory with K7N2G ILSR

    Hello guys,

its easy to make little mistakes when building a pc, some manufacturers arnt always clear about anything, plus, msi havent actually told anyone that those types of memory dont work, so it's easy to overlook things, belive me i know

  • Dual Video Issue with "K7N2G-ILSR"

    Hello,
I have an MSI "K7N2G-ILSR" motherboard with the built in video. I am having trouble getting the motherboard to work with two monitors by using the video that is on-board and an additional AGP video card. When we plug-in the additional AGP video the built on video stops working. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You

So I can use the on-board video and my second video has to be PCI and not AGP or I can get a dual video card?
    Correct.
    Take Care,

  • Audio problem? with K7N2G-ILSR board

I have recently built the following machine :
    Motherboard : MSI K7N2G-ILSR
    Processor : AMD 2200
    Memory : Kingston 2 x 512MB
    Hard Drive : WD 80GB
    OS : Windows 2000 SP 3
The problem is if the on-board audio is enabled, the system either blue screens with a STOP error where it can't find the audio system file ( which exists ) or if it does boot into Windows, explorer.exe will crash.  I have to go into Task Manager to start explorer.exe in order to see my desktop.
If I disable the on-board audio, no problem what so ever, but of course this is not a solution I want to live with.
I have tried to troubleshoot this myself : taken out a stick of memory, switched memory, updated the drivers to the latest, etc.
Also another thing to note, when I finally don't blue screen, the Windows 2000 System event log will have 10-15 of the following error messages, "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0".
I have told all of this to the MSI Support and they think it is either memory or a bad board not the drivers.  I have also burned in my system and no problems were discovered.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Wayne

Yes, I have tried with SP2.  Currently I am using SP3, though.  I am also using Bios 1.3
    Here are my IRQ assignments.
    IRQ Number   Device
1   Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
    3   Communications Port (COM2)
    4   Communications Port (COM1)
5   NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management
    6   Standard floppy disk controller
    8   System CMOS/real time clock
    9   Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    12   PS/2 Compatible Mouse
    13   Numeric data processor
    14   Primary IDE Channel
    15   Secondary IDE Channel
16   NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU
20   Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
20   Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
20   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
    20   NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) MCP Audio Processing Unit
    (Dolby(R) Digital)
    20   NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface
20   OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
I have disabled the Raid in the device manager, otherwise that came up IRQ 11.
I guess I spoke too early about not crashing, this morning it took about 6 reboots in order to finally get to a login this morning.  I would get a STOP error about not finding the audio driver.

  • Some probs with K7N2G-ILSR

Have purchased the K7N2G-ILSR. I'm very satisfied, but I have troubles installing everything.
    Configuration:
AMD ATHLON XP 2800+ BARTON BOX
    DDR 256MB PC-333 Marke PC2700
    SATA SAMSUNG 80GB SP0812C 8MB
    TEAC 48/16 DV-516E BULK TRAY
    LITE-ON 52/32/52 LTR52326 IDE SMART
    * The K7N2G-ILSR does not recognize my processor (AMD Athlon XP 2800+ BARTON 333FSB)properly. This processor should work at 2083Mhz, I cannot get it higher than 1250Mhz (Can only select 166Mhz fsb). Do I have to upgrade my bios? I have one DDR module installed, 333Mhz PC2700.
    * After I install windows XP (during installation Windows warns me I do not use Windows XP certified drivers for the promise raid. But I use the disk provided by my motherboard) everything is okay. After that I install the promise raid drivers and the vga drivers from the cd. All goes well. Then I install the nforce chipset drivers and everything gets messed up. The computer crashes during installing the sound system. Seems like a serious crash. When I restart I cannot acces my dvd drive or my cdr drive. My SATA harddisk seems to be okay. Is this a common problem?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks you!

Wonkanoby thank you fopr your quick reply. I'll try setting ddr/fsb ratio 1.1 I believe I already set the fsb to 166.
I'm sorry I'm at work now, I can't look for my psu max amps now. I believe I bought a 350W power supply. That's all I know for now.
During installation of Windows XP I needed to install third party RAID drivers. I used the disk that came with the motherboard. After windows copied the files to my harddisk, the system reboots and installs my hardware. Then I get the message that the drivers are not signed by microsoft. I assume those are the drivers for my raid controller, since I only put in the windows CD and the MSI floppydisk.
After I click yes, everything installs as it should. Thats it for the windows xp installation. System boots, but needs drivers for VGA, sound, etc...
I install the vga drivers, the raid drivers, everything is okay.
But then I install the nvidia chipset drivers, which probably include the nvidia ide driver too. The system hangs while or after installing the sound dirvers.
As for the IDE drivers: I already tried to rollback the drivers, but windows says there is no previous driver.

  • Tv Card With K7n2g-ilsr

    Hi,
I recently purchased a Hauppauge WinTV GO Card for Christmas, however upon installation, the card will not allow the computer to boot up, the Card hangs the computer without even letting me enter the BIOS setup menu. Without the card occupying the PCI slot, the computer boots up just fine. I've tried it in numerous PCI slots, even one which was occupied by a 56k Modem, but the computer hangs in all slots, without letting me boot up. Prior to installation, i went through the usual procedures, i firmly grounded myself, and wore disposable plastic gloves to prevent static discharge or grime getting onto the actual card. The card was firmly attached into the PCI slot, but it would still hang the pc. Is there a IRQ problem with the card or the motherboard??
    My specs are as follows:
MSI K7N2G-ILSR (with latest BIOS and Drivers)
    Geforce 4 Integrated Graphics
    AMD XP 2200+ Processor
    512 Dual DDR RAM
    80Gig Hard Drive
    Windows XP Professional incl. SP2
Hauppauge WINTV GO (the Tv card)
Is there a possible fix for this??
    Thanks
    Khalid
P.s is the TV Card just borked??

Well, i have a 56k modem, which was working fine, i removed that, because i never used it. I replaced it with the TV card, and it hangs the computer on boot up. Ive tried them on ALL PCI slots, (with and without the Modem in one of the slots) but all of them hang the pc, and its annoying!
I'll try glennvidia's suggestion, and see if it works, and no, im not using a PCI sound card, because the 5.1 soundstorm onboard is better then anything costing less than £40!
Oh and one last suggestion, DO NOT BUY HAUPPAUGE! They still havent replied to my email! (it has been two days now!)
Mustek is one of the companies that should be seriously considered when purchasing digital cameras! I bought a faulty mustek camera off ebay, and it was faulty, with no receipt, but they still gave me a working cam ;-) oh and they replied to my email within 24 hours, and very very friendly staff.
MSI should always be bought as well, reply to the borked northbridge fan took 29 hours :p
(oh and it was free postage as well!! with Gigabyte, i had to pay for the postage, and even then the northbridge heatisnk was dented!)

  • Raid problems with K7N2G ILSR

I have the following setup and problem:
    K7N2G ILSR
    NEC DVD-+RW 1300A
    Seagate SATA 120gb HD
    350W PSU with "210" 3.3 + 5.0
    BIOS V 1.4
    2 x Hynix 256mb DDR 333
I was able to setup the SATA drive as a single RAID drive and install XP pro.
Now, 9/10 times, the system will not boot.  I receive a
"No drive attached to fasttrak controller"
    message.
When the system DOES boot, it works great, and I can leave in on for days with NO problems.
I know the Hynix memory is not "approved", but since the system is stable (when it does boot), and assume its not a memory problem.
The problem still occurs even after:
I changes the SATA cable (data and power)
I changed the DVD cable and slot (1-3)
I even disconneced the DVD and / or Floppy.
    No change

  • Confused with K7N2G-ILSR DLED reading

I just put together a new system using the K7N2G-ILSR and t isnt booting. I am using the baord with an Antec 300W power supply, AthlonXP 2700+ and 512 MB of crucial DDR PC2100. witht he processor in it goes through the first DLED which is the top two LEDs red and the bottom two green and then changes to the top left LED green and the other three LEDs not lighting up at all. After taking the processor out it would hang at the first LED cycle which is top two red and bottom two green and in the bok it means that the processor is not installed proerly or damaged. The next pattern it would cycle to is top left green and the rest red which is early chipset initialization. Since it is hanging with just the top left light green and the others not lighting at all does that mean there is a problem with the chipset or a problem with the processor?

I like to contribute a little. I bought a mother board K7N2G-ILSR upgraded my PC. First, I booted up with Windows 98SE most of hardware is working include on-board network port which connected with RoadRunner cable modem except not USB 2.0. I have decided to upgrade to Windows XP SP1. My first try of upgrading to  Windows XP looks okay for most hardware, then I found out that network is not working. After several investigation, I see no MAC address show on network driver property. I reinstall (restore from backup) Windows 98SE then network is worked fine. I memo the MAC address. Again, upgraded to Windows XP SP1, enter the MAC address into NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Controler's property "NetWork Address". After rebooted the Windows XP the on-board network port is working perfect. This must be glich in nForce2 driver.

  • ...on-board NIC issues with K7N2G-ILSR

After reading several posts on this issue, it sounds as if a ton of people are having problems with their K7N2G-ILSR on-board NIC.  My problem is pretty strange...  When i'm on the internet (WinXP Pro, cable modem/Linksys BEFSX41 firewall router), my NIC works fairly well.. maybe 90% of time.  I can also 'connect' to other machines on my LAN just fine.  However, if i attempt to transfer data between my K7N2G-ILSR and another PC, the LAN conenction icon flashes back and forth between 'connected' and 'disconnected.'  I also have this problem when i try to download anything...  It's driving me friggin crazy!!
I haven't tried the MAC address solution (copying the NIC MAC address into the BIOS).  Before i give that a shot, does anyone have any updated news regarding this issue?
    Thanks for the help...  Mike

  • Problems with detecting SATA hdd's with K7N2G-ILSR mainboard

The K7N2G-ILSR has built in Promise PDC20376 Raid Controller, and I have bought a Promise 4-Channels SATA II Controller PCI card.
The problem is if I mount disks to my new SATA PCI controller my mainboard SATA controller hangs...
Is there a way to use booth SATA controllers at the same time ore disable the built in SATA controller?
Got one SATA2 DVD-writer and 3 SATA disks.
    regards

There is no option to disable the built-in SATA controller in bios.
Have tried moving the PCI-card to another slot, but don't help.
    How my PC boots:
    1. nVidia Graphic card bootscreen
    2. Normal bootscreen (Memory check, IDE check, ...)
    3. Promise 4-Channels SATA II Controller PCI card (finds harddisks if connected.)
    4. built in Promise PDC20376 Raid Controller (My computer freeze if harddisks are connected to the above SATA2 controller, but keeps booting if they are connected to this controller istead.)
    5. WinXP MCE (if my PC don't freeze on step 4.)
Found some info about modding/adjust the bioses on this page, http://www.dstyles.de/bios/
Mabe there is a solution there, to add more options to the bios or enable disabled options.

  • Somethings wrong with my desktop. Can someone please help?

Ok first of all let me start by saying I'm the most tech illiterate person on the face of the earth. This may have been already posted somewhere, but my complete lack of experience dealing with Mac os operating system may have caused me to completely coast right over it. So please have mercy on this poor lost mac dummy!
Yesterday a software update popped up with several updates listed so I gave them the go ahead to install the latest versions of Itunes, safari, mac os (10.5.8) The update appeared to go smoothly so since it was late I called it a night and let it sleep. To my surprise when I woke it up today I realized that none of my DESKTOP ICONS appeared to be working or responding when I clicked them, and in fact after trying to open itunes and some other frequently used programs the icons changed from their usual selves to a blank *notepad with a ruler and two pencils* (see this is how dumb I am, I don't even know what that silly icon represents) I guess thats the default when items go missing?
After much panicking I somehow managed to open the finder where I checked my 'applications' and 'documents' and was relieved to see that they are all still accessible and operating correctly through the finder, and nothing was gone. Its just that they are no longer usable through their desktop icons. I mean I checked the "desktop" area of the finder and its completely blank.
I'm so lost as to where I go from here and was wondering if someone who knows how the system operates could give me a "dummy" version of how to put them back onto my desktop like they were before the update? and where I went wrong to cause them to go missing in the first place?
Years of 'Windows' operating crashes and painful unintended erases (where i've lost all my data) have made me extremely fearful (and hesitant) of messing with system configurations in general, and although Mac is completely more stable I'm still scared about doing something wrong and erasing everything.
If someone could help me as to what to do next I would be eternally greatful!

We need clarification. When you say Desktop icons do you mean the ones on the Dock? If so, then do the following. Restart and see if that fixes the Dock icons to their original and not the generic application icon (it's a pencil, paint brush, and ruller on two blank pieces of paper) stored in /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/ named the GenericApplicationIcon.icns file. If they don't change, launch Disk Utility, select the boot volume/partition, and repair permissions, restart, and see if that fixes things. If not, then launch the Terminal.app in /Applications/Utilities/ (which is what you see when double-clicking on the root-level disk icon sitting on your Desktop and not the Finder). Select and copy this one-line command, paste it into the Terminal window, hit the return key, quit the Terminal app, OPTION-click and hold the Dock's Finder icon, and select Relaunch:
*/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user*
This will rebuild the LaunchServices database and should restore all the Dock's icons to properly display the apps that they represent.

  • Somethings wrong with my Motherboard

I have an emachines W3080. I got a new case and put the motherboard in it, everything right, except I forgot studs. I took it to a computer store and they ran it without studs in, cuz i forgot about them. When he jumpstarted, it would work, he said i needed new motherboard and CPU. So now I'm over at my computer literate cousins house, and we're stumped. We've troubleshooted by taking everything out of case. Motherboard out, put on cardboard shoebox. Started without anything. When we get the 2 mobo power things, the one with lots of prings and the box one with the CPU and the heatsink, we used to get continous long beeps about 2 seconds long until we shutted off That was with mobo power cpu and heatsink along with Video card and RAM. Now we get no beep, and nothing shows up on the monitor. we're dumbstruck. Whats wrong?

  • Somethings wrong with ARD 3.1 on Intel Powerbook

I have ARD 3.1 installed on a Intel Powerbook for when I travel and on a Desktop G5.
Everything works great on G5. ARD displays name, current status (eg offline, idle, available) current apps get displayed, current users are displayed, IP addresses are correct, the OSX version is displayed (not 10.4.10 appears as 10.4.9) and ARD version shows 3.1. I was able to update 2.2 clients to 3.1 clients with the G5 but not using the Powerbook.
However, on the Powerbook, ARD displays name, but current status just says VNC On, the IPs are displayed correctly but everything else shows up as -
It definitely appears that there is a problem with the Powerbook. I tried trashing the app and reinstalling but nothing changed.
Any ideas? How do I trash ARD on the laptop so I can do a clean install?
    TIA,
    Tom

Not sure what your set-up looks like, but I was having similar trouble with "VNC On" where my Mac was not seeing another Mac as an ARD client. Each Mac was behind its own firewall. The solution, in this case at least, was to have port mapping on BOTH ends...on the client and admin Macs. Problem solved. Originally, I only had it on the client end. Hope that helps.
