Sometimes Business Rules disappear

Hi.
I have a probleme in Planning. I open web browser, connect to application and see my Business Rules, after 10-30 minutes (work with form etc.) they disappear. I log off, then connect to Planning and I see Business Rules again. What is it?
Mike.

Hi,
I am not sure they have addressed that issue in 9.2.1, I know there has only been one patch released for that version (9.2.1.0.1) which doesn't mention anything about business rules.
Cheers

  • Business Rules Disappearing in Calc Manager

    I've got a classic planning app on 11.1.2.1 running business rules through calc manager but just the other day I logged in an i could no longer see the business rules in calc manager when i go to expand the database. The rules still run and are visible in other places like the business rule security manager but not in calc manager. I tried restarting calc manager, reconfiguring weblogic, creating new rules (which actually works but the old one still are invisible). I migrated over the environment from another environment, without luck. Any idea's what could be wrong?
    Thanks!
    Mark

    Hi, have you migrated rules though Appication Group->Foundation->Calculation Manager path of LCM? Or just rules with your application. It looks like the second but it's not enough you should use first one too.
    It's not explain what have happened with you rules but may help you to restore them

  • Business rules from epma to planning

    Hi,
    In EPMA version 11.1.12 I am having an issue with business rules. I wrote and deployed a business rule from EPMA to planning and everything was fine, the rule ran on save in the data form.
    Now, I tried to run the rule a few days later and it won't run. I tried to remove and re-add the rule, but now its not visible. In planning, I can't see 'business rule security' in the administration drop down.
    I deployed the application and all the rules and everything is successful, but still nothing in planning. In another application the rules are there.
    How could a business rule disappear from planning and not show up again when it was deployed? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
    Dq

    We sometimes see similar issues when the services are recycled in the wrong order. Perhaps a service failed or was restarted (after you had been successful in running the business rule from Planning)?

  • Business rule put figures to the blocks not created earlier

    Sometimes business rules put figures to the blocks that should have not been created yet. Business rules perform this activity without the usage of function (createnonmissingblk) which it should not. Please can someone tell me its reason?

    It can be a sparse allocation that it is doing.
    DATACOPY can create blocks
    Sparse assignment can create blocks
    @ALLOCATE can create blocks.

  • Business Rules not visible sometimes-via web and smartview

    We use EPM 11.1.2.
    we have a unique problem-Business rules (associated with forms)sometimes fail to appear either via web or smartview for our users.After logging out and back in,sometimes they appear again.
    If we explicitly 'disconnect all' from smartview, close Excel, and go back in again, then the rules are visible.
    It is becoming hard to tell when the users can or cannot see the business rules.
    All users have the right provisioning-interactive user.
    Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before?
    We had a similar issue a while back-with eas web versus eas desktop client. Oracle gave us a specific fix for the eas business rules problem.

    Thats the strange thing; We use (native) groups to provision. This works fine for the other 5 users.
    But even if I provision this one user for the Business Rules, they remain invisible to this user. (in Planning)
    I discovered this morning that this user can create a new BR, but when I try to open it in AAS console I get an error
    "Exception occured, Please check your log file for details."
    Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide any more details. (even if I set the level to Debug)

  • Business Rules are disappearing from forms in Hyperion Planning v 11.1.1.3

    We are using Calculation Manager to create business rules in a planning v 11.1.1.3 application using EPMA, web logic and SQL Server. We have had several instances where business rules that were attached to forms suddenly would disappear. The form still is aware that there is an attached rule, because the application and database name appears in the Business Rules section of the form. However, all of the business rules in the application are no longer visible (i.e. the rule names are blank). The only way we have found to correct the problem is to make a copy of the rules in Calculation Manager and then redeploy the rules and re-attach them to the forms. The old rules still show up with blank descriptions. This has happened at two different locations and seems to corresond with application deployment, although intermittent. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks...

    If I understand what you're saying, I had the same or similar thing happen to me recently with v11.1.1.3, only I'm using classic Business Rules. I don't know why the problem occurs, although I think the root cause is probably related to inter-server communications, not to the corruption or loss of metadata. It happened to me in the target environment when I exported the rules from one environment and imported them into another.
    When I encountered the problem, I opened and then saved (without changing anything) the business rule cluster I use for managing access rights. That resolved the problem, my guess is by giving the application servers enough of a kick in the pants to start talking to one another again.
    I don't know whether this helps any, but I just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one who has seen this problem.
    Regards.

  • Able to edit Business Rules through Excel interface?

    Hi,
    I wonder if there is any way that I can add, modify or delete the Business Rules definitions through Excel interface. In the Admin Console, though the Business Rules interface looks neat, I encounter the following difficulties in editing the Account Transformation definitions:
    1. The check in the Reverse Sign sometimes disappears after the definitions being saved. I have to click something other than Business Rules, like Dimensions, Application, Security, etc, and come back to Account transformation again in order to have the Reverse Sign check being saved.
    2. I'm not able to to check the Reverse Sign in the last definition of Account transformation. It always disappears after being saved. My workaround is to put a dummy definition at the end or not to put that definition, which needs Reverse Sign, at the end.
    3. When I delete some definitions in the middle, the following error pops up after validation.
    [] value does not exists in ID of Account dimension.
    4. I have written my definitions in my design documents in Excel but I'm not able to copy and paste all of them to Admin Console's business rules. I have to fill in each value one by one.
    Or can I simply edit the table dbo.clcCALCAccount_XXXX? Since I used to be a database programmer, I feel it easier to directly edit the database table rather than using the business rules interface.
    Best Regards,
    Sunny

    Sunny,
    It is not according to the book but it is possible to change the business rules directly on the SQL. That is the way i do it sometime... and yes the table you point is the right one. You see other tables for other business rules...
    Usually i just do a copy and paste into excel. Then i change into excel (i also use EVPROs to check if the members are not calculated members...) and then i repaste it into SQL...
    But I have to say, do it at your own risk, as I stated before it is not really advised/safe...

  • Access privileges lost in business rules

    Hello everyone,
    I noticed that my security for business rules have disappeared. Only my native admin account is able to see the groups that have access to BR through the EAS console. When I logon with my account or the main hyperion admin account (MSAD) I don't see the groups. I ran the sync utility and stopped and restarted the services but with no success.
    Last Friday I copied over a production planning app into our dev environment and it seems that screwed up the business rules security.
    Console version is 9.3.1.3
    Does anyone have an idea on what is going on?

    I think it will be more of an issue when you migrated the business rules 2 weeks ago, did you check the security after you migrated them, it can get lost on a migration.
    Cheers

  • Business Rules - faulted while invoking operation "callFunctionStateless"

    Hello, everyone,
    I have a composite application which receives a file through an FTP adapter and re-names it depending on the filename and its body contents using Business Rules. I had deployed it and everything was working fine for about a week and a half, until all of a sudden the composite started completing with errors in the Decision Service Component of the BPEL process. Below is a picture of the payload of the last working composite instance (sorry, for some reason I can't attach a picture to the post and I thought it'd be easier to look at the error like this instead of just plain text ):
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/hw60ms2s7n4bl1v/working.jpg
    And then boom, a minute later, it gives me an error and continues to since then:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/uhq0d2ajpxydf15/not_working.jpg
    The payload it receives in the second picture is almost the exact same thing (similar body, similar filename that only differs in the sequencing number) and yet for some reason it has stopped returning the output of the rules even though the input facts ARE in the business rules (it's not like I could have changed anything in the composite under a minute ).
    Strangely, in some files it gives me a selectionFailure for the dsOut payload of the rules engine in the Rules_Service_to_Facts although those types of files had been previously processed with NO problem:
    <details>
    <from-spec>
    <from  variable="dsOut"  part="payload">
    <query>ns2:resultList/ns6:response/ns6:pathDestino</query>
    </from>
    </from-spec>
    <variable>
    <message>dsOut</message>
    </variable>
    <fault>
    <bpelFault>
    <faultType>0</faultType>
    <selectionFailure/>
    </bpelFault>
    </fault>
    </details>
    ...and even if those facts weren't in the ruleset, it should give me a "Fact not found in the working ruleset" (or something like that) error, which I had previously encountered and which was my fault.
    Sometimes it gives me these three errors at once:
    Non Recoverable System Fault :
    faultName: {{http://xmlns.oracle.com/DynamicDirectoryRules/DynamicDirectoryRules_DecisionService}operationErroredFault} parts: {{ payload=<errorInfo xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/DynamicDirectoryRules/DynamicDirectoryRules_DecisionService"><errorMessage>-1</errorMessage></errorInfo>} cause: {null}

    Non Recoverable Business Fault :
    -1
    Aaaand other times gives me this message instead of the "-1" above:
    Non Recoverable Business Fault :
    Error creating the decision document. Error while trying to create the decision document for DynamicDirectoryRules_DecisionService. Check the underlying exception and correct the error. If the error persists, contact Oracle Support Services.
    I have tried everything, from starting the composite application from scratch, to undeploying and re-deploying the application, to re-creating only the ruleset, testing it out with one file at a time, and still nothing.
    What's also really strange is that I have the exact same composite in a development server and it works fine there, and I've even tried exporting that one and importing it into the one where it's not working, but still gives me errors.
    Does anyone know what it could be that I'm doing wrong or that I'm missing?? Much appreciated!!
    Edit: These are the messages that the logs show when it completes with an error:

  • Business rules attached to form

    Hi
    Business rules attached to form was disappeared, after we install 9.3.1 shared services services pack1.BR's is there in EAS and i can run them from there.But i can not see them in any where in planning.I am not able to see in the list of BRs, when i am creating new form as well.I checked the securityin EAS for Brs, it is same as before,i added our admin group as well, still ican not see in planning....
    Plz suggest....
    Thanks,

    In EAS, check if the outline selected points to the application under the Planning server.
    Check for the access privileges and locations within EAS.
    Restart EAS, RMI and Planning. Login to Planning as the Planning administrator, then into EAS and check.
    Try using another administrator rather than the default admin.

  • Problem with business rule

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with a business rule (BR) deployed as a standalone Descision service.
    the BR consists on a simple decision table wich compare an input (bigInteger) with 50. It returns two facts (as output).
    the two conditions are confugured (i.e. <50 and >=50).
    the Decision service (stateless) is called in a simple BPEL process. in some cases the the assign activity in the bpel process rise this exception :
    <bpelFault><faultType>0</faultType><selectionFailure xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"><part name="summary"><summary>empty variable/expression result. The XPath variable or expression /ns5:callFunctionStatelessDecision/ns5:resultList/ns6:processResponse/ns6:CodeRetour is empty at line 440. An attempt to read or copy data referenced or computed by the XPath expression either had invalid data, according to the XML schema, or did not contain certain optional data. Ensure that the variable or expression result named in the error message is not empty. Enable XML schema validation of related variables to ensure the run-time data is valid. </summary></part></selectionFailure></bpelFault>
    it seems like an output of the business rule used by the assign after the invoke activity is empty.
    But in the input payload for the decision service all elements are not empty. I can't inderstand how the OBR return an empty variable?
    Any help please?

    In the taskflow you should be capable to trace step by step what happens in the execution. Does this give any clue, e.g. why sometimes the assert does not work?

  • Business Rules Error when Decision Function surfaced as WebService in BPM

    To use a BusinessRule as from a Business Rules activity,it needs to be surfaced as a WebService.
    I've run into an issue where as soon as I check that box and save, the BusinessRule in question goes into a error mode when viewed from the BPM Project Manager (which is why this question is posted here).
    The scenario is this:
    My types are defiend in XSD. There is a SimpleType - FooStepTypeType - which is a retricted xs:string, the common way top create an enumeration. I import this as an XML fact, it creates a Enum bucketset, which is perfect. I create a decision function - DecisionFunction1 - which has an input parameter of this type and a boolean output. I set up a simple decision table to use the input and assert the output. The editor is happy.
    At this point, I can't use the DF in my process, as it's not exposed a service, and won't be selectable via the the Properties/Implementation of a Business Rules activity.
    A soon as I mark the DF as a WebService and save it, an the rule disappears from the Rules section of the Business Catalog and reappears at the root of the catalog in error. In some cases it can't be edited.
    Hovering over the error file produced this error message:
    The argument ‘step’ of decision function ‘DecisionFunction1’ could not build because of ‘BPM-71517: Unable to identify the parameter QName. Cause: ‘FooStepTypeType. Action: Make sure that the decision function parameter is of XML type and exactly one XML Schema Element exists that represents the parameter’.
    My XSD previously did not contain a freestanding element of this type, but had elements defined in another complex type of this type. Adding a freestanding element didn't change anything. In fact it seems that elements are not avaialble to be imported as XMLFacts, only types.
    At this point, if the Rules editor is still open, the DF can be "unserviced" and after saving may be recoverable with a JDev restart. If not, manually removing the DF from the .rules xml file can help recover the file so that it can be edited again.
    SO: THE QUESTIONS.
    Why can't I use a simpleType as an input parameter for a DF exposed as a WebService? What is BPM-71517 asking me to do exactly? I can't find any references to it via searching. Why does eveything seem fine until I expose it?
    Addendum - using JDev 11.1.1.4.0 with BPM tools 11.1.1.4.0.5682
    Addendum2 - upgraded to 11.1.1.5.0 and the problem is still there.....
    TIA,

    Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
    Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
    This is a bit messy.
    To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
    As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

  • Creating simple Business Rules in BPEL process

    Hi,
    I have an environment consisting of SOA Suite 11g running on Weblogic Server. I'm using JDeveloper 11g for development.
    Scenario
    I have a BPEL process which starts off by polling a DB table and I then assign the input to a Recieve activity's InputVariable. I have a 'Number' column which will contain a number between 1 and 3. I then require Business Rules (BR) to be set up which read this value, and based on the number, assign a 'Name' string (which is to be the output variable from the business rules) to be used later on in BPEL process.
    Problem - I have followed the basic tutorials available in order to set up the business rules, but am getting numerous errors. Firstly, I sometimes find that my input/output variables created during setup of BR component and the XSD based on this, does not have XML Faces automatically created for it (therefore have to create it myself by clicking on the + button and doing this for each element of XSD). When I do get this working, I then double-click on my Business Rules activity in my BPEL process, only to find that the input/output variables here no longer are assignable to my BR input/output variables as I get the following error "Exception: Problem Building Schema!".
    I am not sure why this is, but suspect that my XSD (which is very simple anyway) or the setup steps I follow to define the link to my XSD, are wrong.
    I have taken the following steps so far:
    1. Create empty BPEL process
    2. Set up polling adapter to poll DB table
    3. Create Receive activity and assigned polled input to created variable
    4. Add Business Rules component to composite and set up and create dictionary here. Also set up inputs/outputs to be in form of my XSD elements.
    5. Add Business Rules component to my BPEL process and configure this to include input/output variables (*This is where error occurs*)
    6. Go back to .rules component in composite to define rule and define rule
    Upon deployment, I get many errors most of which pertain to "Unresolved XML element... make sure XML element +xxxxx+ is defined in one of WSDL's that are referenced by the deployment descriptor."
    I have only imported a simple XSD containing two elements to this project. The other XSD is the one of my polling adapter. I've not created any input/output variables for the overall BPEL process as didn't think I was required to.
    Can you please help in getting this process doing the simple activities described at the top.
    I appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    Create a project with BPEL composite
    Now drag a business rule
    Now create input variable of type ur requestelement
    and output variable of type response element
    Now in rules designer page take decision table
    and then craete a condition (inputelement.input > 1000) and in the rule select true
    now create another rule select false
    Npw create an action with assertion and select the parameterized box there
    now in designer page for first rule assign some value (say 500) and for second rule some value(100)
    Now in bpel u have to assign a value to input var of BR
    Deploy the process
    If u supply 10000 u will get 500
    if u supply 100 u will get 100
    In the same way u can do by using If-Then
    You can use facts and bucketsets according to ur requirement

  • Business rules in 11.1.1.3 execute more than once

    My client has the situation where certain business rules (launched from the Planning BR interface) will execute more than once, sometimes twice or even three times. It seems that the rule will start to execute and then after 1 or two minutes, will launch again. the job console will show the information.

    This is a known issue and has to do with the http timeout settings. Usually this will happen on the 5 minute limit, but it depends what setting they have.
    Take a look at this article and see if it applies:
    Business Rules That Take More Than Five Minutes to Execute Are Re-launched Repeatedly [ID 755406.1]
