Sometimes, I cannot scroll with Firefox 4.0

Sometimes, I cannot scroll with the Firefox 4.0. However, when I switch tabs and then switch back it starts working again. This issue occurs on both of my laptops. Only mildly annoying...

I believe I found a fix for it. Just did a search using Firefox Help and found this...
In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter.
The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
In the Filter field, type mousewheel.withnokey.
Check these settings:
If mousewheel.withnokey.action does not have a value of 0, double-click on it and change it to 0.
If mousewheel.withnokey.numlines does not have a value of 1, double-click on it and change it to 1.
The second item for me was set to 6 for some reason...switch it to 1 and have not had a problem with scrolling all day!

  • I cannot scroll using Firefox. I can scroll in I.E. and Chrome. This is a new problem. I've used Firefox for years.

Using my mouse pad scroll feature I cannot scroll in Firefox. I've been using Firefox for years and never had a problem before. I can scroll in Chrome and I.E. There are a few websites I can scroll in but not in Yahoo and several other sites. and I can't scroll on the page I'm typing this question on.

Try to modify the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the pref.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

  • No Two Finger Page Scrolling with Firefox

Just downloaded OSX Lion and cannot scroll between web pages using Firefox. Used to work with three fingers but now three fingers switches between apps in Mission Control. I can scroll a page up/down in a window with two fingers as before. Is this a bug in Firefox?

Works ok for me in iTunes 12.0.1.26 and OS X 10.10.1, and it's always worked in previous versions of iTunes and OS X as well. Does 2-fingered scrolling work in other programs e.g. Safari ? If it doesn't then you may be better off asking in the relevant Mac forum on here for the Mac that you are using, if it does then possibly the iTunes For Mac forum

  • FLV(F4V): Specific f4v file cannot open with Firefox

    Hi all,
I have a flv movie garelly kind of thing on my website, works all fine on IE v11 and Chrome v32.
However, there is one specific f4v file cannot open on Firefox v26.
Getting error says  [HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found 315ms].
There were no problem with about one year earlier version of Firefox, on Win7 x64, now I'm on Win8.1 x64.
Anyone have any idea about this?
    Any help will be appreciated.

Seems that after upgrading to 11.10, jnlp files open with firefox instead of javaws (Java Web Start).
If you right click the file on the download folder and choose "open with" you can manually select java web start.
    Ubuntu bug...
You can right click any .jnlp file and select "properties", go to "Open With" tab, mark Sun Java 6 Web Start and click "Set as Default". Should fix it. I don't know what would happen if you have the default ubuntu java instead of Sun's. Maybe this wouldn't be necessary.

  • Cannot print with firefox

I cannot use file print or file print preview. This started since I upgraded to the latest version of firefox. (7.0.1) It used to work. I am using windows XP and have tried several of the suggestions in troubleshooting. I am not a computer geek, so they are probably over my head. All I know is they did not work. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing firefox. did not work. First of all, firefox does not completely uninstall. Therefor, my home page and favorites are automatically on the new install. Both of my printers still do not work with Firefox. They both work with internet explorer. Your live chat is always closed whenever I try to use it. If someone from Firefox does not help soon, I might resort to trying Bing as my backup browser. You can contact me at [email protected] Live chat would be best, so that we know when the problem is fixed.

    This is second reply
Your suggestion for using about:config does not work. I also want to note that this is the primary (and oldest) computer to my personal network. This computer is connected to two printers using printer cables. Both printers used to work with Firefox. Neither do now. If I click onto File - print preview, nothing happens. If I click file - print, nothing happens. Contro P does not work either. This is Firefox 7.0.1. This is with Windows XP.
My laptop uses Windows 7. It has Firefox 3.0.19. It connects to both printers using the network wireless router. Both printers work with this laptop computer. I also have another computer tied to my home intertainment center in my family room. It also runs Windows 7 and a older version of Firefox. Although I do not print much from it, both printers work thru Firefox.
As the old Windows XP computer gets most of my use, I really want to fix the problem. One solution might be to re-install an older version of Firefox. Another solution might be to re-install the Firefox 7.0.1. This one I have tried unsuccessfully. That is probably because there is old files of Firefox that do not delete with add & remove programs. That file is found in my programs file. It cannot be deleted because it is write protected, or something like that. It must have all of the files for my home page and favorites files. Otherwise they would not be on the newly installed Firefox (which they are). The same files probably have the files that are causing the printer problem.
If Mozilla Firefox wants customer satisfaction and it's share of the browser business, then they must make sure they fix problems like this. That means having live technical support. That support person can reach me at (480) 968-0107, or (602) 400-7182. If I do not resolve this issue in a timely manner, then I will switch from Firefox to Bing.

  • Cannot download CoolIris. There am some other sites that I cannot download with Firefox but can with chrome.

    I am using version 3.6 .13
I cannot download from CoolIris. In the past I've been able to mouse over the picture and CoolIris worked immediately. When I did this today it brought me to the CoolIris website and said I needed to download an update. I tried that four times and Firefox did not show the download taking place. This has happened recently with other sites I wanted to download from using Firefox. However, those same sites can be downloaded easily using chrome.

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Smoother Scrolling with Firefox?

I like to use the arrow keys to scroll, but scrolling is not smooth and fluid in Firefox as it is with Safari, with the cursor stopping at each line on a page. I have tried checking and unchecking the scrolling options within Firefox preferences to no avail. Any ideas?

I can't recall the name at the moment, but there is an add-in on the FireFox add-in site that is supposed to improve scrolling.

  • Cannot scroll with my keyboard through the fonts (Windows)

I upgraded to CS4 today and I can't scroll through the fonts properly with my keyboard. Every time I scroll through the list it either gets stuck on a font and I have to open the list and select a new one or it skips over all the fonts and lands near the end of the font list.
A lot of people seem to be having this problem but I've been searching for an answer to this for a couple for hours and still havent found one! Any help would be greatly appreciated
I did try this and it didnt help at all:
    Issue
While you use the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll through the fonts list in the Character menu (under Window menu > Type) will freeze on certain fonts in Adobe Illustrator CS4.
    Solution
    - Turn off Enable Missing Glyph Protection.
    - In Illustrator CS4 choose Edit > Preferences > Type.
    - Remove the check-mark for Enable Missing Glyph Protection.

You have a rubbish font inbetween there somewhere and it's throwing off things. Remove al lfonts you may have adeed recently, then add trhem back only as needed.

  • Cannot print with firefox. Internet Explorer prints fine. I have WinXP SP3

I read existing fixes such as trying to fix print spooler Firefox I cant get a native dialog box to appear, the CNTRL P produces an error message saying I do not have a printer set up, so I cant figure out how to change the print spooler through firefox. I checked and the print spooler in Windows is running and in automatic mode. I also tried to create a new profile and not sure that process worked either because after setting up a new profile, I couldn't get firefox to load.

Thanks edmeister for the quick reply. I actually ran across that article and attempted to follow the instructions in the appropriate sections however things did not work as advertised so I was not able to successfully complete any part of it.
"Note: If you get the warning dialog, "Printing failed when starting the document" and if the print.print_printer preference has no printer shown, either you don't have a printer selected, or Firefox doesn't know it is installed on your system. "
This above note is what I believe the problem is. Firefox is not set up properly and I also tried to solve the printspool service issue too. I checked and printspool service seems to be properly set up through windows, and is set to automatic, but the article suggests that if you don't configure firefox properly, printing won't work. Cntrl P didnt seem to work on my pc and so I could not get to the printers dialog box through firefox. I seem to know just enough to muddle through, but not enough to solve these problems by myself. Let me know if there are more detailed instructions when the fix you sent me, does not quite solve the problem because the system does not work as it was supposed to.

  • I cannot print with firefox anymore also found the OK button on tools/options won't work

Besides not printing, the OK button on my Tools settings no longer works. That just started, too.

Hence, i suspect my nvidia 9800GT card to be the culprit. If anyone has a working xorg.conf with nvidia, 64 bit and smooth scrolling on the above mentioned sites please SHARE! Many Thanks!

Sorry, I don't use KDE, but it may be related to how do you start KDE: from xinit or via KDM or sth.

It's running the same driver as before.

Did you uninstall it? Did you install the nouveau driver? 'pacman -Qqs xf86-video' will tell you what drivers you have installed.
No, I don't have the nouveau driver installed. I have to check if I have the nv driver installed but I didn't uninstall the nvidia driver. I'm starting KDE via xinit.
