System Preferences>Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? You must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.(10.9/Mavericks is the only download avaiable now without specially calling Apple).

Hold the "option" key on boot. Choose the system to boot.
Then "System Preferences > Startup Disk" to select Max OSX as your default system.
There is another "system preferences" in the Windows menu that is added by bootcamp to make it the default, but I do not know the details of that.

I called Apple tech support. The device turns out to be a WiFi extender. I never would have guessed that the extender would show up on the list since I wouldn't think of it as an airplay device, and in the list, it shows a little speaker icon. In the process of talking with Apple, I gained a greater understanding of how airplay works.
It turns out that there is no stored list of devices in a file on the mac, or anywhere else. I have seen a lot of traffic on the web from people trying to modify this list, but there isn't one. iTunes, and other devices simply poll the network for airplay devices from time to time.
