Sometimes my browser cannot find local website

Sometimes my browser cannot find local website or internet site. It disconnect, also does Apple e-mail. I have to restart to get the connection back. I've to do that several times a day which is very frustrating.
Anyone had a similar problem?
p.s. this happened before I upgraded to 10.6.4

Hey kwaysonFL,
What is the IP address of the iPod touch?
Does the touch show a Mac address? Goto Settings>General>About>Wi-Fi address
Can the iPod touch load the apple.com web page using the IP address? Launching Safari and going to 17.149.160.49
Try making the iPhone forget the network as described here:

  • Contribute cannot find the website files on the server

    Hi there.
I'm having problems when trying to create a connection to a
previously working website. Here is the error message I get while
    importing the connection key:
    Contribute
Contribute cannot find the website files on the server.
Please contact this website's administrator for assistance.
    OK
Now, the only thing that has changed is a rebuild of our
ISA2004 gateway / firewall, but I created a rule that allows my
computer unrestricted outbound access to the internet, and it still
does not work. I have tried a couple of different computers on this
network, each having the same result.
I've imported the connection key on my home adsl connection,
    and it works perfectly.
Any ideas on where to start or what might be causing this?
    Thanks in advance

Yes, I did manage to get this working.
In the ISA Server management program, under configuration
then add-ins, there is one called "FTP Access Filter".
After disabling it, contribute started working correctly
    again.
    Cheers, hope this helps.

  • Cannot find the website

I'm using Contribute CS3 for the first time and going through
the connection wizard I'm not even able to find the website even
though I browse to it. It asks if I would like to try and connect
anyway. I select "yes" add all my ftp info which I know is correct
because I can connect with other ftp programs. I am able to connect
to the server, but then when I try and enter the remote path info
by browsing to the folder (permissions set to 775) and hitting
continue, it tells me "Contribute cannot verify your connection
information..." And that is as far as I can get.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.2 and using Contribute 4.1.0.
P.S. I have had success using previous versions of contribute
and the site is hosted with Network Solutions on a Unix server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I'm also having a similar problem. We are running Macromedia
Contribute 3. It has worked fine for years but a few weeks ago
started playing up. I can access the website using my Contribute
connection but cannot set up new connections on different PCs or
for different users. I can ftp the site from all computers and
under all user logins but Contribute gets as far as accepting the
FTP details, but when I browse to where the site is located on the
server I get the message "Contribute cannot verify your connection
    details".
Any ideas? I think it must be conflicting with security
    settings somewhere,

  • Openssh and dhcpcd updated today - now sftp cannot find local servers

    Hi folks,
I did my update thing this evening 'packer -Syu' and openssh was updated to 6.6p1
    [2014-03-19 18:44] [PACMAN] upgraded openssh (6.5p1-2 -> 6.6p1-1)
and dhcpcd was updated to 6.3.2-1
    [2014-03-19 18:43] [PACMAN] upgraded dhcpcd (6.3.1-2 -> 6.3.2-1)
and then sftp stopped working as it was ok before the updates.
I get error messages like this:
    [dellgx270:steve] /home/steve
    1442 20140319 234019 $ sftp laptop.local
ssh: Could not resolve hostname laptop.local: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer
    [dellgx270:steve] /home/steve

This is how I network my machines. Its much lighter on resources than either NFS or Samba, but is a bit tricky to configure at first go. The Arch Wiki has some older stuff in it and is a bit confusing for first-time users but I also 'googled' other forums and eventually got things configured correctly. Ubuntu flavors work out of the box, but Arch needs some extra leg-work to get things organized.
I tried removing the ~/.ssh/known_hosts files but that didn't work. Since the error was a resolver issue (according to my error messages) I tried using the IP address of the laptop.local machine 192.168.2.10 and that worked both at the command line and via my file manager thunar (I run XFCE on all my boxes because it works well and with a few additions I can get it to do what I want) ...
Problem is, the IP addresses are assigned by dhcpcd (which means they can get reassigned somewhere else) so I would prefer using the host.local names in scripts and bookmarks etc.
Anyone else having issues of this sort? Inquiring minds need to know!

From the Arch Wiki - Networking - Avahi page (this is what I've been using for more than a year):
"Avahi is a free Zero-configuration networking (zeroconf) implementation, including a system for multicast DNS/DNS-SD service discovery. It allows programs to publish and discover services and hosts running on a local network with no specific configuration. For example you can plug into a network and instantly find printers to print to, files to look at and people to talk to. It is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL)."
I don't use hosts file or anything else to resolve the names of the local workstations and/or devices. I have a relatively new Sagemcom fibre router / modem device, and it has been working well since installation ..
What I've been trying to say - as in my initial post - that this worked properly before I did the dhcpcd update. I'll recheck all the settings for dhcpcd, ssh and sftp (and anything else in my networking configurations) to see if anything is in error. There were no .pacnew files created during that software update. I'll post anything that I learn.

I have the same problem with this site www.danone.ca (as well as http://serviceawards.digitas.com) and a few others. if you figure this out please post the info. My PC loads the sites without a problem on the same network. My G5 tower as well as this Macbook pro cannot.

  • JMF works in Applet View, but in web browser, cannot find device

I'm developing an Applet which can capture image from a web camera.
It's working very well in the applet view, but it says "No devices" error message through web browser.
How can I make it work? How can I find device on the web browser?
I changed permission using "java JMFRegistry", and tried signed Jar.
    Anyone can help me?
or some of samples would be appreciated...

  • Servlet cannot find local interface

I have created a session bean called "UsersManagementBean" and his local interface called "UsersManagement".
After deploying the application on JBoss server i got the error "PackageName.UserManagement not bound".
my jndi tree view shows (under global jndi namespace)-
      +- UsersManagementBean (class: org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContext)
      |   |   +- local (proxy: $Proxy85 implements interface PackageName.UsersManagement,interface org.jboss.ejb3.JBossProxy)code related from the servlet-
      @EJB

    @Local
    public interface UsersManagement
    {}session bean-
    @Stateless
    public class UsersManagementBean implements UsersManagement
    {}what's wrong?
why can't he find the local interface?
    thanks in advanced.

According to the EJB 2.0 spec:
"A local client of an entity bean may be a session bean, a
message-driven bean, or another entity bean."
This is not exclusive list, servlets and JSPs also can work with local EJB interfaces. Please note that your WEB app. and EJBs should be deployed in the same EAR.
The question is, can I use a JNDI lookup for the local
Home and EJBObject interfaces, rather than having the
overhead of using the RMI based remote implementationsYes you can. You will need to define local ref in web.xml descriptor:
    <ejb-local-ref>
        <ejb-ref-name>ejb/CarmichaelSessionRef</ejb-ref-name>
        <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
        <local-home>carmichaelbeans.beans.CarmichaelSessionLocalHome</local-home>
        <local>carmichaelbeans.beans.CarmichaelSessionLocal</local>
        <ejb-link>CarmichaelSession</ejb-link>
</ejb-local-ref>lookup you bean in java:comp/env context:
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
CarmichaelSessionLocalHome home =  (CarmichaelSessionLocalHome) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/CarmichaelSessionRef");Maris Orbidans

  • SBS 2008 cannot find local router after router is changed

    Hello,
I changed the router on my SBS 2008 server. Because I wanted more speed anticipating increasing cloud demands for bandwidth (my ISP provides 100 MB and earlier router chokes @ 48MB), I thought my network would be faster if I used the router to provide DHCP
since SBS only supports 1 NIC.
    That was a big mistake.
So I disabled DHCP on the new router and tried to use the Fix My Network Wizard to "fix my network".
    The results are very strange.
I got all the messages about opening ports discussed elsewhere on this forum. But that's not the strange part.
When I run the connect to the internet wizard , it reports that it found the router and provides the correct IP addresses for both it and the server. However, it did not find my new router at all. Instead, it finds the ISP's router
which, of course, it cannot configure. (How it picked the correct IP addresses is also beyond me.)
The router is a NetGear SRX.... I reset it to factory, disabled DHCP and assigned the fixed IP and DNS server information for our ISP.
Does anybody have any idea why this new router cannot be found and how to fix it.(I have read all the similar posts but none apply.)
    Thanks.
    Murray
    M Whipps

Sounds funky, let's go back to basic and start from fresh. Try performing these steps in exact order.
    1. Disconnect all Ethernet cables from new router
    2. Reset the router to factory defaults, usually with a paperclip tip, check manual
    3. Connect a computer to one of the LAN ports, do not use the server
    4. Configure the computer's IP address, if needed, to coincide with router
    5. Log into router and configure LAN IP to match your old router's LAN IP
    6. Disable DHCP Server in the router
    7. Disconnect computer from LAN port
    8. Connect Server to LAN port
    9. As a test, you should now be able to login into router, from the server, do not make any changes
    10. Re-run the Connect to Internet Wizard
    11. The wizard may not be able to configure the firewall, that is ok, you can manually do it later
    12. Once Wizard finishes, connect ISP to the WAN/Internet port
    13. Log into router and configure the internet connection
you should now have internet going now on the rest of the network.

  • "Contribute cannot find the website files on the server, please contact ...

    this websites administrator for assistance"
Hi folks, I'm back again trying to troubleshoot another connection problem it looks like.
    First, I am the administrator.
So that's the newest error message I get when I open up contrib CS3. I don't know, it was working fine a few days ago. I'm the only one who edits this website.
Hoping someone has some advice for me to get this working again.

OK, that worked! Not exactly sure what I did, but I went in and Edited my Connection, filled out the forms, and I now have a connection. Thanks for the reminder Krishna!

  • Using Cisco VPN cannot find local SMB shares

I'm trying to help a colleague get remote VPN access to our office. I have a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air which work fine. I gave my colleague a step-by-step how to and he seems to have followed it correctly. He can connect using the VPN connection just fine. However, when he goes to connect to our SMB server, he gets an error saying the server is not found.
I told him to try it using the IP address of the server on our local LAN and he says he gets the same error dialog.
Both the DNS name and the IP address work fine for me on both of my machines.
I need ideas of what else to check in his Mac configuration that might be the cause of this failure. Alturnatively, is there a way to "dump" his settings to a text file or something that I can compare to mine to give me a clue?

    Thank you, fupin
Sabrina's suggestion to edit the pbk file worked. I changed the setting from 1 to 0 and connected to the remote network via the VPN and am still able to access the local DFS shares.
As per the OPs comments, the username and password I am using for the remote network are both different from the credentials I am using on the local network.
... take the steps in the KB 822707 to resolve it:
1). Locate the .pbk file that contains the entry that you dial. To do so, click Start, click Search, type *.pbk in the All or part of the file name box, and then
    click Search.
2). Open the file in Notepad.
3). Locate the following entry: UseRasCredentials=1
4). Modify the entry to the following: UseRasCredentials=0
5). On the File menu, click Save, and the click Exit.
    Cheers!

  • After registering on the album starter Edition 3.0, I am getting an error message saying that windows internet explorer cannot find the website, to make sure the path or internet address is correct.  when i click ok, it all goes away, adobe and all.  Help

I called tech support that switched me to customer care and after over half an hour on the phone, they told me to look it up in the forums.  If you have any words of wisdom, I would love to hear them now.  I guess I have to get through this registering phase to obtain the unlock code.  I am surprised at how faulty this step is.  I expected more from Adobe.
    Please help!!!  Thanks.  Lisa

You need to update your starter edition 3.0 to a 3.2 edition. Go to www.adobe.com, click on "Downloads" then "updates", continue to look under "Product updates" and scroll down to "Photoshop Elements". Now you need to download the Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2. This update will automatically remove your 3.0 edition, and your photos will be accessible in the 3.2 edition. Now you can register again. Good Luck!

  • Contribute can browse URL but cannot find it in Connection Wizard

    Here is some supporting information:
    1. I have a fully functional site on a development server
that can be browsed via a standalone browser or via Contribute's
    internal browser.
    2. I can successfully connect, browse, and ping the site
using the domain name or IP for the address.
    3. There is one default file named "index.html".
    4. There is no redirection occurring. In other words, the
default file is in the root directory of the site.
    5. I have full rights to the server and network share where
    the web files reside.
Here's what happens (on a fresh install of Contribute 3.11):
    1. I open Contribute.
    2. I successfully browse to this particular site.
    3. I press the Create Connection button.
    4. The Connection Wizard opens and I hit next to enter my
    connection information manually.
    5. The web address previously entered populates the address
of the Website Home Page screen of the Connection Wizard, so I hit
    next.
Here's where the Connection Wizard bombs. It tells me that
Contribute cannot find the website and to make sure that I entered
it correctly or to contact the website administrator for
assistance. The action question is "Would you like to try to
connect to the website anyway?" Hitting "No" closes the wizard.
Hitting "Yes" takes me to the Connection Information screen of the
wizard. I connect via Local/Network and enter the network address
of the share and then hit Next. Contribute returns an error that it
    cannot verify my connection information.
However, I can successfully create a connection if I use the
IP address of the site. Although this is possible, it is
    undesirable.
Am I missing something here? Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Some suggestions/guesses guys
kruss1971 - As the IP address works, but the domain name
doesn't, this is some sort of DNS problem, i.e. a domain name to IP
address conversion issue. I don't know why, but the domain to IP
conversion is working OK to show you the files of the website, but
at the point of verifying that connection the domain to IP
conversion is not working. So, there are two lookups:
    1. Domain to IP - to show you the files of the website.
Works, because is done from your local machine.
    2. Domain to IP - to verify the connection. Doesn't work -
I'm thinking that maybe this is somehow because the DNS lookup is
occurring from another location, i.e. external to your local
computer, that's the difference, and that's why it doesn't work.
    Just a guess. See also:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contribute/connections/webserver_contribute/webserver_contrib ute04.html
I am wondering whether it's because virtual paths on the
server are involved, and these aren't matching up.
Contribute has to drop a file when it verfies the connection
and the address locations all have to match up and this is what
    isn't happening.
    2) Again I am thinking virtual paths issue here.
Just guesses. Try opening an official support query too.

  • Firefox 5 cannot load ANY website. It's completely unusable. Why?

I installed Firefox 5 as an upgrade prompted by my Firefox browser. Now suddenly, it cannot find any website I use on a daily basis. Nothing works.

Check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for settings that may be causing this. If that's not it, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.
