Sometimes numbering disappears when pdf is created with Framemaker 8

    For some reason the numbering disappears in the pdf created by framemaker. I am using framemaker 8 with all updates and distiller 7. I have tried other combinations with distiller 9 and no luck.
If anyone has had a similar problem, please can you let me know how you resolved it.
Many thanks in advance

  • Displaying PDF files created with BLS in xMII 12

    Hi all,
    we are creating dynamic PDF Reports and store them in an xMII Web folder like "/Project/WEB/PDFFiles/".
    The problem is that I cannot display the PDF File after creation to the user, because when I use the URL it says an error like "file cannot be found". Only after I open the Workbench and "publish" the file, the URL works and the PDF is opened.
    Can I execute the "publish" command from the web page via JavaScript? Or from the BLS after it has created the PDF?
    Regards
    Michael

    Hi, Michael.
    The rendered PDF document is stored in a "string" parameter.    Create a transaction output parameter of type string, and name it "PDFContent".  Now, to stream the data back, create a hyperlink of the format:
    http://<yourserver:yourport>/<this depends on your version>/Runner?Transaction=YourFolder/YourTransaction&OutputParameter=PDFContent&OutputContentType=application/pdf
    When the user clicks on this link, the PDF will be generated and sent to the browser and should automatically open the Adobe PDF Reader.  Note that this technique can be used with all kinds of different content (I've done the same for BLS-created HTML, SVG, PDF, CSV, and even Minitab statistical files).
    In some cases, you may need to "trick" IE into forcing an open of the PDF viewer, in which case you might want to tweak the URL as follows:
    http://<yourserver:yourport>/<this depends on your version>/Runner?Transaction=YourFolder/YourTransaction&OutputParameter=PDFContent&OutputContentType=application/pdf&PDFContent.pdf
    Sometimes IE uses the ".pdf" at the end, sometimes it uses the content type/mime type.  Seems inconsistent.

  • URL_DATASTORE .pdf's created with Adobe Distilller 4.0

    I am running Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0) on Solaris 8. I am using an Oracle text URL_DATASTORE to index pdf's, word docs, and html files. I am able to successfully index and query for all documents except for pdf's with interactive fields created by Adobe Distiller 4.0. All other PDF's work fine (including those created with distiller 5.0). Is their a known problem with this combination (Distiller 4 and Oracle Text 9.2 ?). When reindexing a Distiller 4.0 pdf I get the following error in ctxsys.DR$INDEX_ERROR:
    DRG-11207: "user filter command exited with status 1"
    I created index w/this statement:
    create index f_and_d_intermedia_index on forms_and_directives(intermedia_index)
    indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters ('DATASTORE CTXSYS.URL_DATASTORE filter ctxsys.INSO_filter');
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I know of no problems, but support might. I'd recommend logging a tar since they have the 'master' view of the bug database and their internal knowledge base.

  • JasperReports Integration PDF is created with ISO-8859-1 instead of UTF-8

    Hi,
    This is a strange problem i'm struggling with. Since about one month the PDF's are created with the wrong character set. Instead of UTF-8 (this is also given as a parameter calling the procedure as you see below) the PDF are always created with ISO-8859-1.
    declare
    l_jasper_report_url VARCHAR2(100) DEFAULT 'http://localhost:8180/JasperReportsIntegration/report';
    l_rep_name VARCHAR2(80) DEFAULT'SLRReports/SLR_Statistic_Service_Level_Report_Monat';
    l_rep_format VARCHAR2(10) DEFAULT 'pdf';
    l_data_source VARCHAR2(20) DEFAULT 'default';
    l_rep_locale VARCHAR2(10) DEFAULT 'de_CH';
    l_rep_encoding VARCHAR2(10) DEFAULT 'UTF-8';
    l_StartDate DATE;
    l_EndDate DATE;
    l_MinDowntime INTEGER DEFAULT 1;
    l_ServiceHour CHAR DEFAULT 'Y';
    l_name VARCHAR2(50);
    l_typ VARCHAR2(20) DEFAULT 'monatsreport_ccps';
    l_additional_params VARCHAR2(200);
    l_mime_type VARCHAR2(30);
    l_blob BLOB;
    BEGIN
    l_StartDate := to_date('01.'||to_char( add_months(SYSDATE,-12),'MM.YYYY'),'DD.MM.YYYY');
    l_EndDate := to_date('30.'||to_char( add_months(SYSDATE,-1),'MM.YYYY'),'DD.MM.YYYY');
    l_name := 'slr-statistik-'||to_char(l_StartDate,'YYYY-MM')||'.pdf';
    l_additional_params := 'UserName=SYSTEM'||chr(38)||'String_StartDate='||to_char(l_StartDate,'dd.mm.yyyy')||chr(38)||'String_EndDate='||to_char(l_EndDate,'dd.mm.yyyy')||chr(38)||'SLR_MinDowntime='||l_MinDowntime||chr(38)||'SLR_ServiceHour='||chr(38)||l_ServiceHour;
    xlog ('PRC_GET_REPORT_TUNNEL', 'url (orig):' || l_rep_name||':'||l_additional_params);
    -- generate the report and return in BLOB
    xlib_jasperreports.set_report_url (l_jasper_report_url);
    xlib_jasperreports.get_report (
    p_rep_name => l_rep_name,
    p_rep_format => l_rep_format,
    p_data_source => l_data_source,

    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    xlog ('PUT_BLB', SQLERRM, 'ERROR');

    END;
    It looks like the procedure UTL_HTTP.get_header ignores the encoding parameter and overwrites it with ISO-8859-1. I also tried to set it with UTL_HTTP.set_header before calling UTL_HTTP.get_header buth that didn't help either.
    Then I started the JVM is started with the UTF-8 option and that made no change.
    There were no new installation on Oracle, tomcat or JasperReports side. So I'm wondering what has caused this string behaviour.
    Does anyone had this problem before or has a solution for it?
    I appreciate your help very much.
    Thanks and regards,
    Chris

    Hi,
    As my understanding, you could choose the encoding ways by yourself:
    Change your Internet Explorer 9 language
    encoding settings

  • PDF files created with Primo PDF or Progeny PDF printer

    I am working on a computer with Windows Vista on it and I now have a problem when I create a PDF using the Primo PDF printer, or the Progeny PDF printer -- if Adobe is already open with a file, the new file appears with fuzzy colors. When I close Adobe, the files seem normal. Any idea why this happens? Has anybody had the same problem?

    Not a known problem. And the "already launched" problem points to an issue with Reader.
    Please submit some samples with a bug report for Reader to debug.
    Here is what the issue looks like (click to zoom) :
    On the left side is the PDF file opened with no other instances of Adobe Reader open. On the right side is what the exact same file looks like when opened after another instance of Reader (displaying another PDF file) was already open.
    It's as if the font rendering engine was incapable of multi-threading. Like Reader can only render the font properly if the PDF file in question is the only one it's got in RAM.
    Worth noting :
    Opening a 2nd PDF file with distorted fonts does not affect the first open PDF. That one continues to display normally. Only every subsequent instance of Reader will have this issue.
    Files were saved normally via Photoshop CS5, although this issue has been present for at least 2-3 versions if not more (only started saving PDF's around that time - it's quite possible this was ALWAYS an issue).
    This is strictly a SCREEN RENDERING ISSUE. The PDF file prints to paper just fine with uncorrupted fonts no matter how it looks on-screen.
    As mentioned earlier in the thread, this happens across multiple computers. Whether I create the PDF via Photoshop CS3 in WinXP or via Photoshop CS5 in Windows 7 on a completely different computer... it will have the same issues. Tried it at work, too -- miles away from home. Same issues. Graphic cards are also from different makes, and display the same issue.
    This happens to every single font in the document, regardless of how common or obscure a font it is. In this case, it's Helvetica Neue.
    Again, because this important : even if the fonts look distorted on-screen, they will print out on paper just fine. This is a screen rendering issue.
    Default PDF settings, no layers, vector data non-rasterized.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unicode character not displaying when PDF is created using PDFMaker

    Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9
    Our company letterhead contains a special character (Unicode 25AA "Black Small Square"). When a PDF is created of a Microsoft Word document (2003 or 2007) using the PDFMaker, that character is not displayed in Acrobat (shows as whitespace). Strangely enough, if I search for the character in that PDF file using the Acrobat search function (query "u/25AA"), the search finds the character, but again, it is displayed as whitespace.
    However, if I create a PDF from that same Word document by printing to Adobe PDF, the character displays correctly in Acrobat. Additionally, if I do a SaveAs to PDF (Using the Microsoft plugin), the character displays correctly in Acrobat. This leads me to believe that muy issue is related to the PDFMaker (as opposed to the PDF printing function) and how the character is embedded into the PDF file. I have tried opening the PDF in other versions of Acrobat, but I get the same result.
    Any suggestions? We would like to utilize the convenience of the PDFMaker for our letters and reports, and not have to use the print function. I can email a sample of all the PDF's I spoke of upon request, but the issue should be reproducable using the following steps:
    1. Open MS Word and type (or copy from the Character Map) unicode character 25AA in Arial font.
    2. Save Word file.
    3. Use PDFMaker to create PDF file.
    4. Open PDF file and view results.
    Any guidance or help is appreciated.
    Phil Hinton

    First, check the fonts in the PDF to be sure that they are not embedded (you are likely correct that there is a problem). What job settings are you using. Try the press or print. Also check the job settings to be sure that ALL fonts are to be embedded.
    Also, check the log file of Distiller (set it to not be deleted in the settings). If there is an issue with the license of the font then the font will not be embedded. In that case you need to find a licensed version of the font or change to a different font.

  • Table content disappearing when PDF'ing in FrameMaker 10

    Recently when I've pdf'd a book in FrameMaker 10, some of the content in the tables is missing. It can be either text or graphics and usually occurrs towards the start of the book, but it won't be throughout the book. This doesn't happen with every book, only the odd one, but is very frustrating.
    If I pdf the individual Frame file, it works perfectly, some of these files have been used in previous books and the books pdf'd OK with no problems. The computer is running Windows 7 with 12 GB of RAM.
    Any ideas?

    Actually, I had similar issue, but it was FM.  Occasionally, when I did a Save as PDF or Save as with HTML, FM went on for a few moment then stoped saving with an error message along the line: Cannot create <some file name>...  It kept doing the same thing for several tries until I deleted the previously generated files, then all would be well for a while, until the next time...  I don't know it had anything to do with the generated files (PDF or HTML) being opened on a web-browser at the moment.  Yet, as I remembered prior to that and verified afterward, in those times that went without such error, those files were being opened as well.  Thanks!
    PS: I'm using FrameMaker 11

  • When pdf was created the letters ci defaulted to ã

    Has anyone else encountered this issue?
    In an annual publication (which printed last year perfectly) two letters (ci) defaulted to ã when the pdf was created.
    The document was created in CS3 Indesign. Saved as a pdf for print. Same font - last year perfect, this year major problem.
    Thank you for your help.

    Sounds like you have two different versons of the font involved (OpenType vs TT or PS) or a problem with ligatures.

  • Condition types doubling/tripling/...when sales documents created with reference to other documents

    Hi,
    When I create a sales order with reference to a Quote, the pricing condition types are duplicating. Same is happening when subsequent documents like Billing, credit memo request and credit memo are created. Particularly, the condition types  are doubled/tripled/.... in the subsequent documents. Because of this, pricing net value is calculated wrong. For example, freight charges getting added twice. I searched the forum and found similar issue was discussed at Condition types - Doubling UP  raised by forum member Sridhar Vijjhalwar, however there is no solution added in it.
    Has any other member came across this issue and resolved?
    I have checked the access sequence and exclusive indicators are checked. Copy controls are also checked, looked good and I tested by adding copying type D/G. Checked OSS note also and found one OSS note 1459807 - Invoice has missing/incorrect conditions when created from a sales order.
    but it is not solving the problem either. Issue also elevated to SAP for their investigation. Our system is SAP ECC 6.0 - EHP6.
    Quote Pricing:
    Sales order Pricing:
    I appreciate any pointers to resolve the issue.
    Regards,

    what was the scenario, and how did you replicate?
    It is a configuration for a new project (France country), however we found that the same issue popping up for existing business processes also. As for replicating, we just tried the same procedures, the issue is found in subsequent documents.
    If you have observed one notable thing is - all the condition types which duplicated were Z Conditions, and the standard conditions were never duplicated at least in my case.
    In our case even standard condition types like MWST, SKTO, GRWR, VPRS also shows duplicating.
    if you can throw about the business process?
    As you have mentioned order created with reference to quote was only the straight forward scenario?
    I tested other scenario also, like creating a sales order, then delivery and then billing. In this case in billing document, the condition types are duplicating. If I create a credit memo request against the billing document, then it further duplicating.
    I am not sure what is causing this. I initially thought it may be copy control settings pertaining to the new project, however other business documents also has the same issue. Other business are using different document types.
    Thanks for your follow-up.

  • Why does my Acrobat IX not open PDF files created with my Adobe CreatePDF application?

    My Acrobat IX will not open PDF files that I create with my Adobe CreatePDF application

    Thanks for answering ... Long answer sorry ... recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7.  With XP I could create PDFs with/for any document I created ... I think the XP App was Acrobate Complete as well as I could print directly to a PDF file. In any case, I was always able to creat PDFs.  Since upgrading to Windows 7, I lost my ability to create PDF files by conversion or by printing directly to PDF format. Therefore, I purchased the Adobe CreatePDF application from Adobe for about $100.  However all Adobe CreatePDF files have a different screen icon and my Acrobate XI supplied with my new Windows 7 intsall does nor recognize the Adobe CreatePDF created files. I am guessing but I suspect the Adobe CreatePDF app is creating Postscript print files and not Windows compatible print files.  I would like to tell Adobe about this Bug or failure, but it seems I am unable to contact Adobe directly and talk/chat with a human.

  • How can I resize the PDF I created with a magazine template?

    Hello! I used a template that`s a different size than what I need. How can I resize (make it smaller) the PDF that I just created with this magazine template?

    So you picked a template in A4 format, and now you need letter. The printer can scale the PDF to 11" and it will get even narrower, leaving large margins. Does it have bleeds? That woudl be a disaster.
    Frankly, the best thing is to start over using the correct page size, but you can go to File > Document Setup... in ID and change the shape of the exisiting file. Expect to do a lot of work moving and resizing objects and refitting the type.

  • Size of PDF output created in FrameMaker

    Hi, I am getting different page sizes when I print a FrameMaker document directly to a printer and when I create a PDF file from FrameMaker and print the PDF. The page printed by PDF seems to be reduced to 95% of the page printed by FrameMaker. I have tried both Save as PDF and printing with Adobe PDF as the printer.  I've used a fully-updated version of Acrobat 9 Pro and the version of distiller installed with FM 11. I've tried FM 10 and FM 11. I've used two different computers (one with Windows 7 and one with Vista) and two different printers. I've changed PDF job options. Six months ago, I printed an earlier version of the same document from PDF without this problem. Can someone suggest what might have changed? Thanks.

    Hi Lynne,
    I can't remember if any of the defaults changed in Acrobat v.9 (it's at v.XI now). However, the options in the Acrobat Print settings are "sticky", so perhaps it was set for one job and not noticed when yours was run.
