Sometimes TB can't fetch messages

For some time now, TB has sometimes been stopping receiving messages. This happens apparently randomly, like this morning. I was away from the keyboard for half an hour, came back and it had happened again. Suddenly TB was unable to connect with the mail server. I have spent a lot of the time on the phone with my ISP, and the account settings seem to be correct.
I also get messages on my phone, which normally uses the wi-fi when it's at home. When TB is unable to get messages, the phone is also unable to. However, if I switch off the phone's wi-fi, so that it uses 3G, then it can pickup messages. When my PC has this problem, I have to switch it off then on again to fix it. Re-starting Windows doesn't necessarily work. But through all this my browser still works.
So I'm thinking - firewall? I use ADSL and a Belkin router, which is wired to my PC. I tried re-starting the router from its setup menu, but it made no apparent difference. Except today, some time after I restarted the router, TB started fetching messages again. And by the way, when TB can't pickup messages, it can send them.
What can you suggest? What is going on?

is the error can fin server or can't access server. It may well be your provider has dodgy DNS servers (Mine does) I set the routers DNS to use Googles DNS servers.
But still I have issues. Particularly with the iPad. I think it is actually the Netgear router loosing the plot. Simply turning it off and on often does more to fix things than anything else.

    Is your Messaging folder stuffed with a high no. of messages ? If so delete as many as possible.. If you need to keep them..either back-up or Sync thru' OVI suite.
    BTW always provide your device details.. though going by your post it seems an S^3.

    When I use my IPhone 4S to view the Shaw Go Movie Central App when I am at home I only use WiFi which is automatic, I start watching a show and sometimes I will get a message like "you can not use your cellular for video playback" or something close to that. Then I received an email from Telus saying I had used my 3G instead of Wi-Fi  using 75% of my data. How can this happen when I'm on Wi-Fi at home? If it switched to 3G for some reason I should have been disconnected and not just transferred to 3G network using up my data. What is the fix for this??

    It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
    I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
    Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
    To answer your questions,
    1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
    2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
    3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
    Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.
    Let me know if you need any more tips for iPhoning across the pond.

  • TS1307 Sometimes I can send messages, sometimes I can't.

    Sometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin. Any ideas?

    OK, maybe let us know later on, & good luck!
    If it helps I think you can sign up for a Free iCloud IMAP account & then...
    You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
    iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
    On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587

  • TS2755 I can't receive messages on my iPhone 4?? It will let me send them just not receive, and this happens on text and iMessage. Help anyone?!

    I have a iPhone 4 on contract and every now and then it will stop receiving messages when I am in the middle of a conversation. I don't use iMessage as I sometimes go over the limit of my Internet data. So I stick with SMS. And even when I do try with iMessage I still can't receive messages. I don't know if this is a on fault on the phone but it's a really bad downfall if its common on most iPhones. Don't get me wrong but I love this phone I think it's great but it's annoying when I can't receive messages. And at this moment
    In time I still can't receive them. Been happening for 12 hours now and it's never been this long usually, advice anyone?

    Hi Tnolen15,
    If you are having issues sending or receiving messages from a specific contact (in this case, your wife), you may find this portion of the following article helpful (ignore the numbering):
    If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.

  • Limitation on data that can be fetched (ABAP RFC) via a Web Service?

    Hi,
    Is there any limit on the data that can be fetched via a Web Service (ABAP exposed as Web Service). I am trying to fetch PI monitoring data from ABAP Tables via a Web Service and there can be thousands of messages proceesed say in a day and what if user is provided the option of fetching messages for a specefic duration.
    Please advise.
    Neha

    Hello my friend
    If I understand your question correctly, there's an environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV handles sessions between integration engine and adapter engine (ABAP and Java). By default, the value of this variable is 500, and you might want to increase it to 1000 at least, depends on system throughput. Recommended value from SAP for Production is 5000.
    Hopefully it's helpful,
    Effan

  • Can't fetch XMLType after getting first row

    Hi - when I call OCIDefineObject in a sub function, after getting the first row of XMLType value, the program can't fetch subsequent rows and stops. If I call OCIDefineObject in the same memory space of where the fetch call locates, it works out fine. Somehow the persistency of xmldocnode can not last.
    Any clues? I can email out both working/non-working programs upon request.
    my environment is Oracle 11g on Solaris box.
    Sample Code: (fetch only the first row and stop)
    char orderNumData[4001];
    xmldocnode* xmlData = (xmldocnode *) 0;
    xmldocnode** xmlDatap = &xmlData;
    defineStr(define_orderNum, (char*)&orderNumData, 4001);
    defineXML(define_customerdata, xmlDatap );
    rc = OCIStmtExecute ( svc, stmt, err,
              1,
              0, NULL, NULL,
              OCI_DEFAULT);
    cout << "OrdNum: " << orderNumData << endl;
    displayXML (xmlData);
    while ((rc = OCIStmtFetch2 (stmt, err, 1,
    OCI_FETCH_NEXT,
    (ub4) 1,
    OCI_DEFAULT )) == OCI_SUCCESS)
    cout << "OrdNum: " << orderNumData << endl;
    displayXML (xmlData);
    void defineXML ( OCIDefine defineHdn, xmldocnode *xmlDatap )
    ociStatus = OCITypeByName( env,
    err,
    svc,
    (const text *) "SYS",
    (ub4) strlen((char *)"SYS"),
    (const text *) "XMLTYPE",

    (CONST text *) 0,
    (ub4) 0,
    OCI_DURATION_SESSION,

    (OCIType **) &xmltdo);
    ociStatus = OCIDefineByPos ( stmt,

    ociStatus = OCIDefineObject( defineHdn,

    (OCIType *) xmltdo,
    (dvoid **) xmlDatap,
    &xmlSize,
    (dvoid **) &indp,
    (ub4 *) 0);
    Working one:
    Instead if I call OCITypeByName, OCIDefineByPos,
    and OCIDefineByPos right before the OCIStmtExecute() in the main,
    then all results can be returned.
    OCITypeByName(...)
    OCIDefineByPos(...)
    OCIDefineObject(...)
    rc = OCIStmtExecute ( svc, stmt, err,
    1,
    0, NULL, NULL,
    OCI_DEFAULT);
    cout << "OrdNum: " << orderNumData << endl;
    displayXML (xmlData);
    while ((rc = OCIStmtFetch2 (stmt, err, 1,
    OCI_FETCH_NEXT,
    (ub4) 1,
    OCI_DEFAULT )) == OCI_SUCCESS)
    cout << "OrdNum: " << orderNumData << endl;
    displayXML (xmlData);
    Thanks,
    Terrence

    void defineXML ( OCIDefine defineHdn, xmldocnode *xmlDatap ) { ...
    ociStatus = OCIDefineObject(
    defineHdn, err, (OCIType *) xmltdo, (dvoid **) xmlDatap,
    &xmlSize, (dvoid **) &indp, (ub4 *) 0);
    Instead if I call OCITypeByName, OCIDefineByPos,
    and OCIDefineByPos right before the OCIStmtExecute()
    in the main, then all results can be returned.I ran into this issue myself (was going nuts until a smarter colleague open my eyes on the issue). The problem is that you passing addresses of local variables in defineXML for xmlSize and indp, when the addresses you pass must remain valid for the whole fetch. (xmlSize is not written to apparently, by indp is for sure, so you are writing/corrupting your program stack...)
    To resolve this, I use a stack allocated helper struct whose lifetime extends the fetch, and which is referenced in the bind_object method. --DD
    struct ObjectBindInfo {
        void* p_value;
        void* p_indicator;
        ub4 value_size;
        ub4 indicator_size;
    static void insert_one_object(ub4 id) { ...
        sql_point pt(id);
        ObjectBindInfo pt_info(pt, &pt.indicator_);
        stmt.bind_object(conn, 2, pt, pt_info);
    ... void Statement::bind_object(
        Connection& conn, ub4 position, ..., ObjectBindInfo& obj_info
        // WARNING: Addresses passed to OCIBindObject MUST still be
        // valid after OCIStmtExecute, so cannot be addresses to local
        // (stack) vars. Thus the use of ObjectBindInfo...
        checkerr(
            OCIBindObject(
                bind_hndl, errhp(), tdo,
                (void**)&obj_info.p_value,     &obj_info.value_size,
                (void**)&obj_info.p_indicator, &obj_info.indicator_size
            errhp()
    }Of course, you've noticed that I talk about binds above, but the fact that you need to provide non-local var addresses to OCI applies to defines as well. --DD

  • Fetch message in rfc 822 format

    Hi,
    I want to fetch message in RFC822 format.
    is there any facility in java mail api where we can directly get the whole message in form of RFC822 format, rather then fetching different parts..like address, content,disposition and etc....
    I think IMAP has a command fetchrfc822 to fetch the message in RFC822 format.
    regards,

    that will go to some output stream....how will I be able catch that one in some variable so that I can pass it to some other function.

  • Mail for Exchange with error "Body Fetch Message T...

    Hi,
    I am just got the Nokia E71, and had installed the Mail for Exchange version 2.0.5(5), and had set all the required configuration (Exchange Server Name, UserName, Passowrd, Domain). But when I do the SYNC, it got the "System Error" from the log, and I check on the "admin_log1.txt", it show that "Body Fetch Message Too Large" error.
    Any ideal on the error ? I have check the Access Point, there is working fine, as I can us the web browser on the phone, and no proxy setting
    I also check all the Exchange configuration setting with using the Windows Mobile PDA phone to do the SYNC with our company Exchange server, it work fine with all the given configuration.
    Please help.
    Thank You very Much.

    Is Mail for exchange working after the update? I am able to setup my company email, but mails are not getting downloaded. I tried entering a wrong password for my company email (after deleting my profile), just to check if mfe is able to connect properly with my company email server. It is able to identify that the email password i entered was incorrect. Also when I enter the correct password, setup finishes successfully. But its not retrieving any emails. I am sure of the settings, since the same settings were working earlier. Only thing i am doubtful about is the port number. Port number by default comes as 443. Does it need to change? Is MFE working for anyone? My company email is ************@hcl.com. Can you pls suggest?

  • Mail can't find message

    Searching for a mail message or sender in Mail in Lion 10.7.3 OFTEN doesn't work.
    Typing a search text that is literally the same as a message in front of me returns zero results.
    Sometimes subjects can't be found, sometimes persons / senders can't be found.
    We have mail installed on a server.
    THe same problem occurred with earlier versions of OSX. Searching for a filename for instance record 2345 returns zero results, while I am looking at it in a different window !
    Does anybody know why this is such a consistent bug in OSX?

    Yes, the folders are all there, they're just empty.

  • I can not text message some not all of the iphone users that I was able to text before 7 upgrade.

    I can not text message some not all of the iphone users that I was able to text before 7 upgrade.

    Hi,
    Sometimes the text fields automatically get locked. please check whether the fields are locked, if so unlock the text fields.
    Hope its should work.

  • How come sometimes I can load FB and other times I get the "this is a not trusted site?"

    Sometimes I can get right into FB, this also happens on Internet explorer. And sometimes I get the not a trusted site message. If it is happening on Firefox it will also be on IE and Goggle at the same time. Sometimes I get into FB then cannot contact to Farmville. Yet 5 minutes later I can get in. Very,Very frustrating. Any answers out there?

    There are two things to check.
    * Check your system clock.
    Sometimes the clock / date is wrong, and causes problems like this. Open
    your clock (normally you right click its icon). Go thru its menus to check for
    the correct time, and time zone. Also, make sure that the option to
    '''Synchronizing with an Internet time server''' is turned on.
    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
    * [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
    * [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
    [http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
    Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.
