Sometimes when I get a text it rings twice

iPhone 6 (but happened on my 4S too) -- with some texts... I get two notification sounds instead of just one.

SMS has a limit of 160 characters IIRC. This means that larger messages are split into multiple messages (you normally get charged for each one). iOS glues these pieces back into one message (because the sender was typing one reply that was split by the carrier).
Messages has a 'character count' setting in Settings app on iOS for seeing when you are about to go over the 160 character limitation, enable that to see if your SMS is getting a bit long .

My iphone4 is not ringing, or notifying me when I get a text message or email. It does however vibrate, the alarm works, and I am able to play music. The button to swith vibrate on and off, seems to not be working. Also, the sound buttons. The up button does not work, but the down button does. I have restarted, restored, and changed the ring. Nothing seems to be working. Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you go about getting it fixed?

Did you accidentally move the slider button above the volume control to the "off" position (orange dot visible)? My husband used to do that all the time.

When you see the old number come up in the suggested choices look for a blue arrow to the right of the Contact. Tap the blue arrow and then tap Remove from Recents.

Purchases will always download to the computer you are making the purchase from. However, you can set iTunes to automatically sync those purchases to one central comptuer, in your case your home server, so that the purchases will be available to all computers and devices on the network using Home Sharing.
Home Share Sync
Make sure Home Sharing is turned on and working between both computers. Home Sharing is turned on when your can see the name of the other computer in the sidebar of the iTunes window. The icon will look like a house with a musical note on the side. On the computer that will act as the central home server select on of the other Home Share computers in the sidebar then click on the 'Settings…' button on the bottom right-hand side of the iTunes window. In the 'Home Sharing Settings' dialogue box put a checkmark in the box for each type of media you want to have synced between computers. iTunes needs to be running on both computers for the sync to occur. If iTunes is not running at the time of the purchase, sync will occur the next time iTunes is running and can connect to the other computer.
Automatic Store Downloads
On the computer that will act as the central home server go to the iTunes preference panel and select Store on the toolbar. Put a checkmark in the box for the the media types you want to have automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store. Whenever purchases occur on any computer or device with the same iTunes Store account iTunes will automatically download the media to that computer. This method only works for Music, App and Book purchases.

How to make it vibrate when you get a text

Can't figure out to make my Droid 2 Global vibrate instead of making a sound when I get a text. Can't seem to find that option in settings. I'm a newbie so if you can help it is much appreciated.

Open up your messaging app and hit menu, then settings. Find the notification settings and there should be vibrate options in there for never, always, or only on silent. You can also set your notification sound to silent.

Screen won't light up when I get a text?

So today I updated my Galaxy S5 to Lollipop.
Before I got this update, my phone would always light up and display a notification when I got a text message. But now after the update, it no longer does this.
It's frustrating, because since I'm at school, I always keep my phone on silent. But now I can't see my phone screen light up when I get a text. Is there anyway that I can make it light up again?

jenga11, you have a great device! I want to make sure that it is running like it should after the update. Are you using the default text message application that came on the phone or is it a 3rd party application from the Google Play Store? Please keep us posted.

Picture messages without a texting plan are 25 cents each. Better than the $1.99 or $2.99 from the online store....
Attaching to an email would not work as mobile email does "do" attachments.
Sending to your online album will use text messages, I believe. Better to use a micro SD card, save to the card, and transfer them to your computer that way.

The solutions on here did not work for me.   I tried.....
I have the same problem with a BRAND NEW iPhone 5c version 7.1- no sound when a text message arrives.
(1) I have "do not disturb" scheduled correctly.   No partial moon on the main screen near the time and battery indicator.
(2) I have the ringer icon correct with no slash.    Yes I turned the hardward mute switch to the UP position (ie the one above the + and - buttons on the left side.   I tried messaging with the bell as shown and bell with a slash and neither work.   The mute switch is not red (switch above the + volume hardware switch)     I enabled some assistant using the Settings menu.    And I press the dot (looks like a target symbol) and go to Devices and I can see what position the bell is in....either a bell with a slash or no slash.
(3) Yes ringtones are configured for text and other. I can hear them when I am under settings > sounds.   But they do not link with the actual hardware.
(4) I rebooted the iPhone 5c by using the button at top, slide the red bar, then pressed it again, apple came up for a minute and it seemed to be back up.
(5) I upgraded the IPhone 5c from 7.0.4 to 7.1 using my pc and itunes.   And the upgrade was successful but did not fix the text issue.
(6) I do not have it in airplane mode or silent mode.
(7) I reset all settings using Setttings > General > reset > reset all settings . this wipes settings but not data and media.
This is really frustrating.

Do you have sounds turned on for these types of notifications? Also, if you have notifications turned on, do the sounds show up in the Notifications settings area for the particular apps?

I have no sound when I go to my setting and try to pick an text alert? Also my volume buttons I mash them and it shows the bell but no bars bellow it.but when I get a text it works on and off?

After I up dated my phone my volume wouldn't work when I went into my settings to choose an alert.
