In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

I keep getting script errors regardless of the FF version I'm running. This time it's on 3.6 and the error is Script: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/modules/utils.js:1027

I had to downgrade from ver. 4.0 back to 3.6 for my job. This version is the only on compatible with their add-ons and it gives me script errors at least twice a day. The only add-ons I'm running are for work and others who do this job don't have this problem. Using 4.0 I did experience it less often but it wasn't completely cured.

This is typically caused by a problem with the Personas Plus 1.6 add-on and it conflicting with the Google toolbar.
Try disabling the Personas Plus add-on. To do this open the add-ons manager by selecting the Tools menu, then Add-ons. In the list of installed extensions click on Personas Plus, then click on either disable or uninstall.
If you can not access the add-ons manager, follow the instructions in the [[safe mode]] article to start Firefox in safe mode. You should then be able to disable or uninstall Personas Plus. You can find more information on this procedure in the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.

When I try to click on Add-ons, from the Tools menu, I get this error message of an unresponsive script: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js:623. This is to say the least about the unresponsive script errors at other times. However, at all times, it won't go away - even by clicking on the 'stop script' option; even with checking the 'don't ask again' option. I also have this problem and never had it before. This scripts that become non responsive and there are more than just this one, really really cripples my system to the point where I have to wait 5 minutes between clicks in the web browser... When is FireFox going to address this issue?

I encountered this issue with Win 7 but fixed it by doing the following: Open up AVG and then click on Tools / Advanced settings. On the bottom of the list should be AVG Security Toolbar, click on it. There should be an option to Repair the toolbar.

When I open Firefox I get the message "Firefox is already running but not responding . . .

I am using Firefox 3.6.9 with Windows XP SP3. Almost every time I try to open Firefox I get the message:
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
I then must open Task Manager and find Firefox and stop the process.
I run Firefox on 4 Windows machines and this is the only machine that I have this problem on.
I have looked at the Mozilla Firefox KB and have tried to check on the items that could be causing the problem. I have update my Java in Firefox. I have un-installed Firefox leaving the Bookmark preferences, etc. on my machine, ran CCleaner to clean the Registry of remaining Firefox items and then re-installed Firefox - I still have the problem.
I have installed Google Chrome to fix this problem but now I find that several of the websites and companies I do business with are not compatible with Chrome.
How can I fix this problem? Why am I only having this issue on 1 of my 4 Windows machines?

Can't you open any web pages in Firefox?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I get this message whenever I open firefox or a new tab. Anything I had tabbed to the top has gone, and the original homepage which shows all my recent visits is invalid. The full message is:

Make sure that you're using forward slashes (i.e. /).

You profile folder is damaged or missing. 
To fix this, we will need to delete the profile by following these steps:
#Go to the Firefox application data
#Select the Profiles folder
#Delete the folder with <code>.default</code> at the end of the name
Please report back with your results.
WARNING: Removing folders/files can cause damage to other programs and the Windows operating system. use caution when manually deleting folders/files. Creating a backup of any deleted files is highly recommended!

I upgraded to the newest version of Firefox yesterday. But now I cannot get online with Firefox. I can check my e-mail and browse the web on Internet Explorer, but not Firefox.
