Sometimes will, sometimes won't detect wifi (anywhere!)

As the subject says, sometimes my phone (3G) will find my wifi (after I do a reboot of it by holding the home and power buttons in) other times no matter what I try, it only says "Could not scan for wireless networks." Since every time it goes into sleep mode, it disconnects from my wifi, I tend to lose that connection and then have to just get lucky in getting it back. I live in the middle of nowhere so I'm only on the Edge network. This makes things mighty slow. We have 2 iphones in the house, one is a GS3 and mine the 3G. The GS connects to the network along with every other wireless device. If it wasn't a sometimes on, sometimes off I would say it might be the network, but even when I'm at work, it will not scan for networks there either. Any suggestions other than throwing it against a wall? I've tried searching for remedies but only found that this has persisted for other users since at least 2009 with no one offering a real remedy.
I have tried:
Rebooting
Turning off 3G
Resetting all networks
Turning on then off airplane mode
Trying to manually join the network
Rebooting again
Updating firmware
Rebooting yet again
Checked to see that it does indeed have a wifi mac address (it does)
I'm out of ideas and would really like to have my phone work like it is suppose to.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

BB 9300 won't detect Wifi

Hi,
I am wondering why my BB 9300 won'z detect any wifi networks. Even if I set up an ad-hoc network without security on my laptop and have the BB right next to it, it would not detect any wifi networks, which is kind of strange.
I run OS 6, all other data services, mobile ones, are working just fine.
Any ideas?

Hello, I don't think ad-hoc Computer - Computer networks will work. Are you sure that it will not detect any networks at all? Or only your own Wi-Fi network?
I hear that changing the WI-Fi settings on the router to WPA2-PSK may help your device connect.

1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Over the past month or so, my wifi at home is not detected unless I manually go to settings and ask it to look for the network. Only at that time does it look for it. I've tried resetting but this doesn't really do anything different. Any work around?

Hello. Sorry to hear your having this issue. Posted below is some troubleshooting that may assist you with this issue today.
1. Settings- WiFi- make sure ask to join networks is turned on.
When this is on and it spots your network for the first time. It will put in on your list of approved networks. So if you walk out of your house and come back in, It should auto connect back to that network.
This setting is only turned off when you know your only going to be in certain areas, and already logged onto those networks at least once. So your not annoyed by all the open and secure networks in the area, and to conserve battery life.
2. Setting- General- Reset- Reset Network Settings, Confirm see if this fixes the issue. You will of course need to log onto your network at least once. Anytime after this as long as WiFi is on it should auto connect to that network assuming no other networks are in range that have a stronger signal and that you approved of before.
3. Settings- WiFi- if your network has a check mark. Tap on the blue circle. and Tap on Forget this network. Confirm. Reconnect to your network. And see if it will always auto connect when you leave range and come back into range. You may need to go a couple blocks down from your house for the signal to break and hit over to EDGE
4. Reboot the iPhone. Hold down the Home Button and the Sleep/Wake/Unlock Button till you see a Apple Logo. Then let go. And retest your WiFi
5. As a last and final step. Restore the iPhone. Please ensure you backup all Data before you do this. And ensure the data is on your Mac/PC so it can be Synced back to iPhone.

MacBook Pro lost and now won't detect wifi in the house - HELP!

I'm using a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I'm staying at a friend's home which provides wifi via Shaw Cable. We've been here for a week. When we arrived the MacBook detected the wifi in the house and I was able to sign in without any difficulty. Suddently, today in the middle of a web chat with a customer service provider, the connection was lost. When I attempt to reconnect it detects other networks but not the one in the house. I've rebooted the MacBook, rebooted the modem, turned airport on and off, deleteted all remembered networks (then rebooted), attempted to manually enter the network name and password all without success.
Other devices are connected: my iPad and a Windows PC. I can connect the MacBook via ethernet and it works. So I know the connection and modem are working.
Most solutions I've see talk about resetting either the channel (to 11) or changing some other setting on the modem. Since this is not my house or system, I don't have access to the modem settings. Nor do those solutions make sense since I was connect for 6 days without any issues.
Does anyone have any idea how to get the MacBook to detect the network again?

Might be corrupted network preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Turn off the base station for about ten seconds then turn it back on.
Then try Wi-Fi.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

IDVD 7.0.1 on OS X 10.5.2 wont burn, sometimes will, sometimes lies

Very inconsistent performance.
Sometimes it works fine.
Sometimes when I open older projects to burn another copy it'll choke on encoding.
When I create a new project with the same old files, it works.
It may say it worked but the DVD only plays on computer DVD drives and not regular, ranch stash DVD players.
more than a little irritating. Permissions have been fixed, it doesn't matter.

There are a set of things to test:
1. Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk: It should have 25Gb or more. This is especially important when running iDVD.
iDVD can’t address any other hard disk as scratch-disk so space is of uttermost importance.
2. The Hard disk is untidy:
Repair Permissions (Apple Disc Util tool) - Run this
Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool) - To run this You need to start from a CD/DVD or external hard disk.
3. Delete iDVD pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and have a re-try
4. Let Your Mac turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help.
5. Program miss-match:
iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.3.9 AND QuickTime 6.5.2 - is OK
iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4 - is OK
iDVD 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4 - is OK
6. UPDATES - is important: iLifeSupport8.1.1.dmg is important for running iLife08 bundle.
7. iDVD (08) Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
8. Mac OS X.5 (Leopard) - at least iDVD 1 to 4 - don’t work any more
9. Trying to collect info on. Leopard system:
iDVD08 - - - - - - - - - - not working - - - -> Should be soluble
iDVD 6 - - - - - - - - - - not working - - - -> Should be soluble
iDVD 5 - - - - - - - - - - not working - - - -> Don’t bother - will not work
iDVD 4 or previous - - - - not working - - - -> Don’t bother - will not work

My iPod 5 won't detect wifi

This issue started when my iPod got accidentally restored ( because I was doing a system update from the computer, then I disconnected the iPod by accident and bam) , this happened in this February
I may not have noticed at all but it seems like it gets worse as time goes by. However I did not experience this issue right after the restoration...
My house is quite large, it has 4 floors. The routers are in the basement...Therefore I stared realizing that I have to go to the basement
To support my point that the iPod is a problem and not the router, all my siblings other apple devices like laptops and iPads connect normally and you can connect with them anywhere in the house!
But it got even worse this month because I have to stand EXACTLY near my router, not anywhere in the basement. And that is ridiculously annoying.
I tried so many things like resetting network settings, resetting all settings, restoring, turning off, forgetting network and many many more
My iPod is currently updated to IOS 6.1.3
I even went to the apple store and they are the ones who suggested to try and reset the network settings...still nothing as said above!
But please may somebody please help me with this issue it's hitting my nerves, I can't continue going to my cold basement to use my iPod!

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

TS1398 My iPhone 5 will not connect to my wifi. I called Verizon and it is not thir issue because my iPad can connect. Sometimes I can get my phone to connect to my wifi if I choose "other" as the network, go to "WPA" &type password

My iPhone5 will not connect to my home wifi. I called my Internet provider and they said it is not their problem b/c my iPad and computer will connect. Sometimes I can get it to connect for a few minutes by choosing "other" network and then choosing "WPA" security and typing in my pass code. Other tomes it will spontaneously connect to my wifi. Hi I've been following this thread (along with a different one on the same topic). I've been having the same problem with my ibook. I can add that I have no problem with startup. It's just that the screen "goes to sleep" unexpectedly and may operate normally for a few minutes or a few hours at most. Opening and closing the lid or restarting seems to cause it to awaken but then usually for just a few seconds or minutes. If it is connected to another video display that display continues functioning fine even though the computer screen is blank. In addition the desktop is there and visible faintly or if totally blank can be backlit through the apple logo and can be read. I've had my logic board replaced twice under the extended warranty and assumed it was that but now I'm thinking of the reed switch. Apple refuses to consider any further work under warranty as the last repair was in Jan, 06 and they claim only a 90 parts warranty and the machine is from 03. Any thoughts before I cut the wires? I have reset the pmu, run cocktail and disk utility. Other than the sleep issue the machine works fine. thanks Ronda or anyone else who has any ideas... Dave

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem is still not resolved, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
Verizon does not provide hardware support, taking the device to them would be a waste of time.

i just bought late 2011 macbook pro on 27 april this year...it was succesfully connect to any wifi at anytime & anywhere...
but the problem begins when i stayed at my brothers's house...
my macbook can connect to the wifi there for the 1st time, but after i shut down my MBP and turn it ON again, it cannot detect the wifi at my brother's house, but it's weird when it can detect wifis from neighbourhood...
there' a solution for this problem...i have to repeatedly turn ON & OFF the wifi on MBP many times before it successfully connected...
but unfortunately after shutdown & turn it ON again, i've lost the connection again...what i have to do is repeatedly turn ON/OFF the wifi on MBP AGAIN until it was successfully connected...
pls help me, i already googled this problem but can't find the right solution anywhere...pls help me....thanks in advance....

- my iphone4 & my ipad2 doesn't have the problem detecting & connecting to the wifi at my brother's house....

Just finished trying the suggestion from my Mac store "genius", and it WORKED. He suggested that I connect to the router directly with ethernet. His thought being that once my MBP found the IP address it would be able to find the network wirelessly. While still connected I went to System Preferences/Network, selected WI-Fi and entered the network info (name & password). There it was - connected.
Don't know how to make this solution available to everyone with the same problem. If someone knows how, go for it.

Ipod sometimes will turn on, other times won't

The ipod used to be my mom's, but I took it for more space and restored it. Ever since, it sometimes will turn on fine but most of the time needs to be reset before it will turn on. What could be wrong?

Tryt to charge it then Reset as follows.
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
