Sonar 5/6 doesnt keep time of my playback w/ XFI Creative A

This problem started on sonar 5, and i recently upgraded to sonar 6 figuring the new software should solve this problem and it didnt.
heres the problem... the verticle bar that goes along the pictures of the waves and tells you your place... not sure what its called... the placekeeper? well it starts out moving with the playback then it just disappears and i get just get little green lines with numbers popping up on the wave files pictures every now and then... but it doesnt tell me where i am in real time, and its hard as hell to keep my place for editing.
I have the X-FI PLatinum... im using the creative ASIO drivers (because i need all my inputs available as separate).
The placekeeper works absolutely fine in WDM/KS mode... but with this mode the latency is not as good and i cant have all my inputs separately.
How do i fix this?
my comp:
athlon 64 X2 4800+
2 gigs of ram
win xp
blah.. blah...
PS - im becoming more and more disappointed in this card... the only reason im using SONAR at all is because i cubase would not work at all, and no one ever knew the solution on the forums... so i used sonar, which works, minus this one problem. pleeease help!

ok smartass... that was the most unhelpful response ever. congrats.
FOR ALL THOSE LOOKING FOR A REAL ANSWER:
After many hours of toying with things, i got it working...
MAKE SURE YOUR MOTHERBOARD SETTINGS ARE CORRECT. DMA for harddri'ves, PCI stuff... anything that could possibly effect power or speed of your PCI devices will limit the performance of the card (to some this is obvious, but if only someone pointed me in this direction a month ago, i would of saved myself a lot of aggravation)
So if your sound keeps dropping out, or skips, install the newest drivers of your chipset etc... i also moved the PCI card from slot (which has shared IRQs with a lot of otherthings, USB for example) to slot 3, which is shared with nothing else (as far as i know, or at least its shared with a lot less things.)
I must of had a million different settings with the card, the software, and my motherboard BIOS and harddri'ves that i changed around and through trial and error, i now get playback that works correctly with the ASIO drivers.
Still however... any latency setting under 7ms will cause the engine to stop during recording... has anyone else gotten any lower settings to work correctly with sonar 6? But yea, now sure how they get away with putting ms latency on the box. false advertising. I could probably tweak a few more settings to get 5ms or 4ms to work... but i can doubt ms will ever work... and i have 2 gigs of ram, a dual core 4800+ etc. i have a system that should be fine with handling anything...
ok, finally this will be my last post here. good luck all.

  • My 5th Gen iPod touch does not keep time and the bluetooth will not turn on. Full restore did not fix.

Recently my 5th generation iPod Touch stopped keeping time. As long as the screen stays on, it will stay accurate, but once it "sleeps" the time reverts to the last accurate time it had. If I go to Settings>General>Date&Time> and turn Set Automatically off and on, it will catch up, but just for as long as the screen stays on. Not too friendly for battery life that way. Also, maybe unrelated, the Bluetooth function will not turn on. When I try to turn it on, I just get a constant spinning wheel.
I have tried everything from a simple restart to a full device wipe back to factory default. No change. I took it in to the Genius bar this afternoon. They tried a diagnostic and another wipe. Then they said they didn't know and I could pay $150 to replace it. Not a bad deal, but not what I wanted to hear.
    Any ideas?

    All I can suggest is
Try DFU mode and then restore again to factory settings/new iPod

  • 1st Gen ipod touch no longer keeping time

As the title says my 1st gen ipod touch no longer keeps time when I let it go completely flat. It keeps resetting itself back to the default time and date. Started happening in the last 6 months. I'm running IOS 2.2.1 never bothered updating to IOS 3 because of a known issue with the volume bar disappearing which I don't think had even been fixed. It hasn't been synced with the itunes for 2-3 years. The laptop with the itunes library for this device hasn't worked for a couple of years and haven't sync my ipod to a new computer due to some of the apps I used and some of my song/video purchases no longer being available and I don't want to risk losing those purchases if doing a factory resets not going to make a difference. Battery life for my ipod is still pretty good, get 3 weeks out of it when I leave it in standby mode using it for an alarm clock and about a week listening to music going to and from work only a few hours playing games or videos but that was never to great to begin with. My Ipod touch does have a cracked screen, but it's been cracked for the last 5 years. No other problems. Is else have this issue? Will factory reset make a difference or is it just something to put up with till my ipod touch dies?

It sounds like the battery is really dying and does not have enough voltage to maintain the time when the iPod shuts off due to low battery.
You can try restoring to factory settings/new iPod and see if that helps.

  • How do I keep time from showin on calandar events ?

how do I keep time from showin on calandar events ?

I don't think there is any way to do this directly.  Generally speaking, Calendar shows the time of the event.  If you don't care about the time of the event you can just make it an all day event, and of course the time won't show.  Otherwise, I can only suggest the Year view .

  • IPhone not keeping time

I have the iPhone update 1.1.2
I synch on my XP Pro laptop through iTunes.
I've noticed in the last few days that my iPhone isn't keeping time properly.
Checking *Settings > General > Date & Time* I have *Set Automatically* set to On, and Calendar is set to *Time Zone Support > On*. Finally, *Time Zone* is set to *New York* (I live in Rochester, NY).
As the day goes on, the phone seems to lose hours. If I go and turn off the settings outlined OR shut down the iPhone and restart, the time updates properly.
The signal for AT&T wireless is fine - always available.
I can turn *Set Automatically* to Off, but this is only a workaround for something that should be happening automatically (and has worked in the past).
Any ideas? I've searched the forum and not found anything about a solution or anyone else with exactly the same problem.
    Thanks!
    Brian

I had this exact same problem, on three of the five iPhones I have had replaced by Apple (yeah, great product). Resetting never corrected this issue with me. If it did, it would immediately start messing up again. To correct this, just turn off the automatic time setting. That has worked for me, so far.

  • My clock in the menu bar will not keep time.

My clock in the menu bar will not keep time.
However, if I click on it and open Date & Time and do nothing more, it adjusts to the current time but still doesn't work as the seconds aren't advancing. I close Date & Time but the clock stays highlighted/selectted, which is also strange.
Any suggestions as to how to get my clock running again?

    Hi Peter,
Not certain, but I'd try this...
You've probably got a couple of corrupt preference files.
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
    /Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.systemuiserver.xxx.plist
where 'xxx' is a 12 digit (hexadecimal) numeric string.
This will reset your Menu Bar to the default, you'll need to go through System Preferences to reset the ones you need. (If they are already checked, uncheck them first and then recheck them).
    reboot

  • Clock won't keep time after Mavericks installation

My clock no longer keeps time properly after installation of Mavericks. This problem affects all of my iMacs immediately post-Mavericks, so it's not an issue with a bad battery.
The symptom is: The clock drifts by about a minute per day. Clicking the Date & Time applet in Settings immediately syncs the clock to the correct time. So the NTP servers are obviously working. It's just that Mavericks doesn't make use of them to set the system clock unless the Date & Time applet is clicked.
I followed the advise here and used the UI to set multiple time servers. I used the recommended string: 0.us.pool.ntp.org, 1.us.pool.ntp.org, 2.us.pool.ntp.org, 3.us.pool.ntp.org
After having made this change, instead of the clock losing thirty seconds per day, now it gains one minute per day.
As you can see from the log, it executes a few time syncs correctly and then just stops. The last sync was executed back on 1/17/14 at 4:40pm:
Apparently the problem can be solved if the user knows Unix and can actually recompile parts of the operating system. This is way beyond my level of expertise.
Bottom line: Apple's OS releases have gradually been getting worse and worse and Mavericks' quality is degraded to the point where even basic operations like keeping track of time are apparently now impossible without in depth Unix & compiler knowledge. This is pretty much the last straw for me and I'm reverting back to Windows and that horrible Metro interface (it's ugly and impractical but at least it can tell time). But I can't switch out all of my iMacs overnight. I have to deal with Mavericks for a while longer. Is there a workaround to get this wretched OS to tell time properly without having to deal with cryptic Unix commands and OS recompilations?

I didn't want to recompile ntp or start messing with system files that would end up getting overwritten on the next system update, so here's the solution I came up with.
I have a cron job running every 4 hours.  In terminal, type
    crontab -e
then, on the first line, type:
    0 */4 * * * sudo /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u time.apple.com
(make sure there is a carriage return at the end)
This will sync your clock to the apple time servers every 4 hours. I have my cron set up where it actually e-mails me, so I've been monitoring the output, and have been adjusting more than 1 second each time it runs, which means I've been losing 6 seconds per day with this bug. That's bad even for a cheap alarm clock from WalMart.

  • Quicktime doesnt display time in slider

As of two days ago any file played in Quicktime opens with a slider that has the moving dot but doesnt display time as it used to (time passed on one end and time left on the other)
I cant find anything in the settings and it looks like i cant uninstall to try installing it again.
This is being a big problem because im in the middle of working on a movie project and i really need to see how long different clips are and at which times are certain events.

QuickTime Player and its browser plug-in are not supported on a Windows 64 bit OS and this is one of the known "bugs".
See if you can run your browser in the 32 bit mode which may help the plug-in work as designed.

Can anyone suggest an app to download for SMS messaging for iphone 3G as the message application factory installed is pretty useless and doesnt keep your sent messages in a sent folde and has no folders unlike most messaging features on other phones.

Why do you need a Sent folder?  iOS's Messaging interface lays each conversation out like a chat or IM.  Personally, I find that much more convenient.

  • K7N2GM-L: Not Keeping Time in XP

This is the system in question, the one in my sig is my own system replacing my old system which I rebuilt for someone else:
    MSI K7N2GM-L
    768MB DDR 333 Ram (Kingston CAS-2.5)
    AMD Athlon XP 2000+
    On board sound
    Sapphire Radeon 9200SE
    LG 48x Combo Drive/DVD Reader
    Western Digital 120GB 8MB Cache ATA100 HDD
    Sony Floppy Drive
The problem is it seems as soon as they turn the PC off it loses all track of time (I wish when I goto sleep time would stop, lol) when the PC is turned back on and boots to windows the time is reset to when it was turned off.  Having to sync the time everytime windows boots is rather annoying.  This is my second replacement of the same board, the BIOS is set to the right time, the CPU is even underclocked to 100mhz bus, and the clock doesn't keep even with the proper clock.  I have reset the bios to default and nothing happened.
I have read on many forums and websites that it could be one of 4 things:
1.) As motherboards get cheaper componants are of a lower grade and do not keep time right.
    2.) Power Supply
    3.) CMOS Battery
    4.) Motherboard bad
    (1) Motherboard was cheap
    (2) Powersupply worked flawlessly when I had it and I had more devices, and it was tested with a multimeter, with proper voltages being read.
    (3) well since this is a brand new mobo, 2nd of its kind, 1st not keeping the time either, battery being the fault is doubtful
4.) again since this is a new board, replacement at that, doubtful
Is a format in order here?
Any help would be appreciated, It is always nice to have more heads working on a problem.
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Hi,
Badge: AFAIK, the clock on your motherboard should run for as long as the battery powers it. So even after a couple of days applying no power (except battery of course) your clock should be reasonably accurate.
This is a bit of a mystery, as you say it's occured with two motherboards!? It may be worth your clearing the CMOS. (If you haven't already done so - It can't hurt).
First, power down and set your FSB jumper to SAFE (100Mhz) setting. Then follow the instructions given here:
    Clear CMOS guide
...follow the instructions as closely as possible - you might also like to remove your battery as an extra precaution.
Given a problem like this your first port of call would usually be battery replacement, have you tried this? I don't think it's the battery as your BIOS seems stable - but it could be - you never know!
You've not reported any other BIOS problems - does it keep its settings?
If none of this works and you've tried switching off "Spread Spectrum" in the BIOS I would assume that there is a fault somewhere. Exactly what it is though - is a mystery!
    Axel

  • IPad not keeping time correctly

Last night I noticed my iPad is not keeping time. It said 9:40 at 10:30pm. I checked the settings and it didn't correct itself. It's still off today. Anyone else have this problem? I don't want to manually set the time. I read on another board that Apple was replacing iPads with this problem.

This happened to me a couple of days ago when I charged my ipad with the adaptor and did not synch with my imac. After synching with my Mac the time was corrected but after a day the clock 'drifted' again. I reported fault to Apple and they suggested a reset using 'Settings'. Did as instructed and so far OK. I am no 'expert' in these matters but not synchronising for a couple of days seems to cause a problem. Apple should be aware of this and I have sent a comment back to them

  • Vonage & Airport Extreme & keeping time on the phone

I can not get my phone to keep the correct CST time while using Vonage with the Airport Extreme. I think it has something to do with the Airport Extreme setting as Vonage has the correct setting. Has anyone had this problem? Have you figured out how to fix it?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   airport extreme / vonage / keeping time on the phone

Thank you for your prompt response. I have actually figured it out. I will post my solution here in case others that are reading this have a similar issue. Here are the steps I took:
    Open airport utility. (Applications-utilities-airport utility).
Selected the Airport Extreme on left column, then clicked on the manual set up button on the left button. This beings up a few options on the top of the box. Airport should be selected. In the inner box there are fiver buttons, selecting wireless brings up a list of options, radio channel has two options from the drop down menu, select manual. This brings up an edit button. Going into this option submenu provides the opportunity to have a 5GHz freq network on a specific channel.
I have been running a few tests on my network to check performance. I have a movie running on my AppleTV. On My MBA I tried a bunch of stuff to tax the network. I let the MBA sync with mobile Me. In the meantime I played a quicktime movie trailer in HD (in loop mode), downloaded an HD trailer (over 100mb), and surfed the net. So far, the MBA has been cruising at a cool 140 degrees, no stalling.
Note: Before running the tests, I made sure I selected the network I created with the 5GHz freq in title in parenthesis.
