Song downloaded (local), now how do I get it back to iTunes Match? (no longer want it local)

Question

So I have joined iTunes match (which works GREAT so far) and have one problem I just cant figure out.
History:
I wanted to use a song (up in the cloud) for an iMovie project. No music was available from iMovie... OK, i figured that was because of iTunes match. Sure enough, I go into iTunes and download the song to my MBA, and great! the song now shows up in iMovie.
Issue:
Since I don't want the song on my hard drive anymore (SSD storage is precious), I removed the song from my iTunes library, and re-syncd with iTunes match thinking that would work. Now, in iTunes, there is no longer a cloud icon next to that song, and there's an error if I double click it (attempt to play the song.
iTunes match still looks/functions fine on my Apple TV, iPhones, and iPad... but that songs not playable on the MBA anymore. What did I miss?

To remove a song from the iTunes library but not the cloud never, ever, ever delete the file from the file system (which is what you did). Always delete the track from within iTunes, and choose to move the file to the trash.
To fix this error simply delete the "track" from the iTunes library, but not the cloud. There is no need to use the "update iTunes Match" menu command.
