Song in imovie project

I am not sure why, but some of my imovie projects have an explamation point over the audio. I assume this is because it can not locate the source track. The song still plays along with the video, and the song is indeed in my itunes. Is there any way to point the track to the correct tune, as opposed to having to delete the song, drag it in again, and align with the video the way I worked so hard on the first time?
Thanks

Yes! Urrrgh! Very frustrating. I have never had any problems with iDVD prior to my latest Quicktime and iTunes upgrade. Since I have upgraded these app's, I have been getting the same, "computer not authorized" BS. (exactly as you described it). I really think the upgrade is the problem.
My sense is that since iTunes is such a popular cross platform application, every new upgrade is trying to catch some kind of licensing loop-hole in the system. I read this in a Steve Jobs interview recently. So, the loss of revenue due to file sharing between multiple computers/iTunes and iPods is more of an issue, than what the licensing loop-hole upgrades do to iDVD. As soon as enough people complain, MAC will create an upgrade to correct this issue.
The glimmer of hope: any song that I have not bought through iTunes has seemed to play in iDVD, and has made successful burns to disk.
I await more positive news as well. I want my iDVD back!!!

  • Loading a song to IMovie project twice

I have started a IMovie project and placed a particular song from ITunes at or near the commencment of the first clip. I now want to place the same song at a different starting place further on into the project. The field " Place at Playhead" is not "light" , but if I select a different song, all is well. How do I use the same song more than once. ???
    Help

    Hi John
Easiest way is. In Sound TimeLine view click on the sound file and keep button
down. Now also press alt-key drag to a new place in timeline. Release.
    OK ?
Zoom in in TimeLine and fine adjust Your new sound copy.

  • How can I edit a mp3 file and drop it in an iMovie project?

I wish to edit an mp3 music file so that I can drop a piece of it into an iMovie project. iMovie's audio tools are very rudimentary---one can reposition a music file, shorten it, etc but cannot pick a piece of it to complement a movie segment.
So I dropped the mp3 file into GarageBand. I deleted the first section of the song, then selected the 16 second piece I wanted to include in my iMovie, using the copy command. Then I pasted the piece into a new GarageBand project screen. The piece wouldn't play, and when I selected "export" the piece neatly went to where I wanted it, but again with no sound.
So simply: how do I edit an mp3 file (cutting a piece of it) and then save it so I can apply it to an iMovie? Help!

it should have played, but you can do it easier by exporting just the section you want:

  • Using only part of a song in iMovie?

I've been using iMovie for a while and it's great but one thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is an easy way to use just a portion of a song.
I want to use about six or seven different songs in my iMovie project, but only use certain parts of those songs (a 20 second portion in the middle of the song for example). I don't see any way to "trim" audio like you can with video or to specify to iMovie "only play from 1:20 to 1:50 in this audio track".
What I have been doing is cutting the portion of the song in QuickTime Player 7 and exporting as a new MP3, but there's gotta be an easier way than that I hope?

  • No audio with copied imovie project

I copied my imovie project from my time machine backup to another my mac mini. I put it in the imovie projects folder and I can open it up in imovie, but the audio isn't playing. It seems to be there. I can see the green area around my video and see the names of the songs, but I can't hear anything. The volume is on. I can play songs from itunes.

I'm trying to help a teacher with an iMovie '08 problem and this seems to match the problem we are experiencing, but I don't understand how to implement the answer given. (I'm a newbie to iMovie '08 so please forgive the basic nature of this question).
This user's iMovie project is in /Users/kate/Movie/iMovie Projects.localized/Blah Project
The audio clips are showing (and some have two layered audio clips: narration and background music).
One of the audio clips does play, but I can't see any settings difference between the ones that don't play and the one that plays. I'm assuming it is because the audio files are missing (as the answer was above). But where do I find out what relative path the project is expecting? And how might I find the missing sound files? (I have no idea how this project was created or where the user might be storing things in a non-standard way).
Basically, I need more detailed instructions on how to get the filenames of the clips and the relative paths so I can copy the correct things where the need to go (if this is indeed my particular problem).
    Thanks for any assistance!

  • Transferring iMovie project from Intel Mac to g5

I have been working on my Intel Macbook Pro since I travel quite abit, but I want to be able to transfer everything back onto my G5 and continue working and adding transitions, effects, etc. since Intel doesn't support GeeThree effects currently.
I have 06 on both machines and all the necessary updates as well as the updates for GeeThree on the G5 machine and I have a Lacie External.
I know that I will not be able to transfer the project back to the laptop once I have added any of the GeeThree effects since they don't work on the Intel side yet but how can I transfer to the G5 effectively and what are the pitfalls in doing so?
    Thanks!

Forgive my novice comprehension on this...but can I simply put the iMovie project on my Lacie and then connect it to my G5 via USB?
I am not sure I understand what you mean by "MAC to Firewire mode" - is this within iMovie?
I have a firewire cable that I can connect between both machines, this is how I originally transferred many of my applications, documents, etc. when I first setup the laptop. But will this also transfer the necessary support files associated with my iMovie project? Such as the photos from iPhoto that I have been using and the songs in iTunes? My iPhoto libraries and iTunes are different on the laptop than on the G5 since the laptop did not have enough space to handle my entire User profile.

  • Export and import imovie project between two mac- Help

    Hi,
I am working on a imovie project in my Macbook and now want to transfer the unfinished project  to my friend's Macbook so he can edit and add some songs.
What I did was click "Export Movie" and then save the movie to my destop- formated - name.m4v, draged the saved movie file to USB and transfer to my friend's Macbook. To import the file into iMovie in his labtop, I created a new project and just drag the file into the event library.
It turned out that I imported a movie vedio instead of a project and I couldn't edit it like I did in my Mac. (add things inbetween clips, change photos, change sounds, music, transitioning etc)
Is there any way in which I can transfer the iMovie project to another macbook, not appear as a vedio but will appear as a project when I actually continue work on it like I did in the original Macbook?
    Thank you.

    Moving Event's and Project's
    Hi
    Moving Event's and Project's
Connection - Either connect one Mac in Target mode to the other via FireWire. Or use an external hard disk !
(Target-Mode - Start one Mac e.g. laptop - BUT keep T-key down during full up-start - Now a FW-symbol is jumping around the screen and it will work as an external hard disk when connected to the other Mac)
    A. The External Hard Disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work for Video. UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most other things but not for Video whatever program is used (iMovie or FinalCut)
    B. Should be a FireWire one as USB/USB2 performs badly to me and especially when filling up
    C. Do never Move or Alter any folder named
    • iMovie Event's - or -
    • iMovie Project's
on DeskTop/Finder - as this will result in iMovie losing connections to them and repair can be anything from hard to impossibly
    D. Moving and Copying must be done within iMovie application and Events to Events - and - Project's to Project's.
    E. Moving Project's to Event's - Do not work for me - I have to export project as a QuickTime movie then Import this into Events.
Event's window can show two faces
    Like this
    or like this
from one hard disk Event - You can move it to the other hard disk
You can not (at least not me) move Event to Project or other way around only
Event to Event and Project to Project

  • How to only use a small clip of a song in imovie

how do I only use a small clip of a song in imovie?

there's two sorts of applying audio to an iMovie Project:
    • as general 'background'
    • or as 'clip'
    have a look here:
I dragged the audio ONTO some existing video-clip in my Project => the new audio appears as a green bar - which indicates an audio-clip. Such an audio-clip you can shorten, cut, move, stack, copy/paste as any other clip in iMovie ...

  • My iMovie project has no sound, can I fix this?

My son created an iMovie project today and the sound was working like it should. When I got home, he tried to play the movie but there was no sound. I still heard sounds when I increased the computer volume up and down. I went to the "Media" section in iMovie and selected a song and clicked "Play", but NO sound. I then went into the project using finder (Show package contents) and found the .mov file and played it with Quicktime. The sound was working fine. Logged him out and back, no sound. Restarted the mac, still no sound. Exported the movie (Shared) and played it, sound was working fine.
Are there any cache or preferences that I can remove that might correct this problem. I've seen this problem in the past, but not recently until now.
We are running iMovie HD on a G5 PPC running Tiger.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks

    Hi
My Suggestions (List) - 3a most probably the culprit.
    *No Audio in iMovie*
Most common origin is use of audio from iTunes.
    Work around -
    • in iTunes - Select needed audio into one new playlist
    • Copy/Burn this as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3)
    • Use this CD and it's files in the movieproject
    Other origins are
    1. strange/ailient file formats as -
    • .mp3, .avi, .wmv etc
    • Convert them into .aiff 48kHz 16-bit and use this
    2. the Mac is set wrongly in regard of midi -
    • Close iMovie and other programs
    • Start GarageBand
    • Make a new GarageBand-project and play some notes
    • Close GarageBand and Save
    • Now try iMovie again
*3. No audio when playback in iMovie 1 to HD 6.*
    a. in iMovie pref - deselect ”Playback via Camera”
    b. in System preferences - see that Audio out is not set to zero. Mine often does this
    without me knowing why.
    4. iMovie’08 & 09 & 11

  • Re-authorizing when using purchased songs in iMovie and iDVD

    Hi!
Since I upgraded to the lastest iTunes, I have to reauthorize every time I use a purchased song in an iMovie project (or iDVD). And, even as i reauthorize the song, the song is omitted from the project. I guess this is a major bug. Any news on a fix for this??
    Thanks!
    Thomas Engstedt

Hi Ken and welcome to Apple!
You should not have a major problem. The AVI files should (repeat should) be recognized by iMovie. If not, conversion should (I love the certainty of that word!) be easy.
An iMac will do all you ask, but I recommend not less that 1GB of RAM.
At this stage, go get your iMac, and try to import the AVI files into iMovie. If that is not successful post back!
Remember: iMovie expects to be 'fed' by digital video through a firewire connection.
Any more questions, we are here to help!

  • Can't utilize my itunes via iCloud on iMovie project???

i am able to access and use itunes on my macbook air via icloud match from my desktop mac but when i am trying to lay down audio on an imovie project it is not listing any of my songs despite displaying my itunes menu/library correctly- they appear to be there but empty???

As far as I can tell iMovie only sees music that you've downloaded to your computer. Identify it and then go to iTunes and redownload the song and it should be solved.

  • Open imovie project in garage band

    Hi,
I am trying to do mulitiple tracks in imovie, with music, voice-over, etc. and I want to hear my voice-over at the same time as the music, to match timing. This is not possibe via imovie, as one's voice-over obscures everything else, so the timing with the music is out.
I thought that I could export the imovie project to garage band, synch the music and voice-over and send it back.
I "shared" the imovie project to the media browser,
now what? Where did it go?
Can I in fact use garage band in the manner I have described above?
Can't get any joy from the garage band help.
    Any ideas welcome.
    Thanks.

Can I in fact use garage band in the manner I have described above?
    Sure, you can!
To use the movie in GarageBand, click the MediaBrowser icon in the lower right corner of the GaragBand window. Click the "Movies" tab and click disclosure triangle beside the iMovie icon. Now you should see your project.
Select it. Inthe lower part of the Media Browser you see the different sizes of your movie. Select on of them and drag them to the time line.
If your movie has an Audio track you will here it when you play your song and you should be able to play or sing  along with the Movie-audio track and record your vocals. Then I would export the vocal track and import it to iMovie and mix the two tracks in iMovie.

  • My imovie project "hangs" when I try to edit it & enters in not responding

Hello please help me, I'm almost done with my trip project in imovie and it was working fine until I added one of the last songs and imovie entered in not responding. I forced quit and keep trying to make it work & the program opens with the event library perfectly but as soon as I try to edit it moving the cursor over the project it immediately becomes not responding "hangs" . I tried in my project library with another previous project and it works fine.
The project is 245mb and 1.15 hr, I still have 63GB free, do u think is the memory ? can I save my project? I spent many hours working on it.
    Thank you

After a few restarts project began to work.
