Song in iTunes Library seperate from album

I just bought a Glee single called "A House is Not a Home". Whenever I buy the Glee singles I put them into one album called "Glee" so that they are all together on my iPod. But when I changed the "A House Is Not A Home (Single)" to be called "Glee" as the album it is still with the "H" albums and will not move into the "Glee" album. No matter what name I change the album to the song stays in the same spot with the "H" albums.
Hope what I said makes sense.

I know the solution cause this happened to me too.
You almost did it all right, and normally it WOULD be all right. However, the title of this song has an article word (or whatever they are called, I'm not an english major haha.) It has an "a" at the start of it. SO BY DEFAULT, iTunes crates a "Sort Album" value of whatever the title was without the a (because it sorts by ignoring these words like "the" or "a" or "an")
So, that song's "Sort Album" is currently still "House is Not a Home" like iTunes set it. Since that's still there, it's sorting by H. Right click the song, select GET INFO. Click the sorting tab, and completely delete the "Sort Album" value. It will then default back to the G for Glee that you put in for the "Album" value.
Hope that makes sense!

I downloaded an album from iTunes on my iPad and then i synced it with iTunes it doesn't show the individual songs in my library just the album which opens another window.  One of the albums won't even play the music.  Will only open the "booklet" for the cd but not the music.  Can you help?

    Hello dannugget
Normally, if the songs showed that it is purchased then it is probably already in your library. If not check out the article below to walk you through downloading your past purchases. You may also want to check to see if you have Automatic Downloads turned on so that way next time you can get your tracks without having to plug in and sync.

I am considering the purchase of an iMac or Macbook and want to know whether I can import my iTunes library of  +400 albums from my Windows PC over my Home Network?  300 of these albums have been imported from CD's, so would not want to have to do that again.

Just copy the entire /Musci/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
The libraries will be identical (date added, ratings, artwork, etc.).
You can do this easily over the network.

  • Creating MP3 formats with songs in iTunes library

How can I Rip with Microsoft Media Player songs in itunes library without burning them to CDs? I want to do it by jump drive and have album art and song titles and other info so I can download them by jump drive to my car's hard drive.

Sounds like you might know an answer. I want to import/store my cd music ONCE - preferably in itunes for the playlist ability. But when I import in iTunes from CD, I can only create audio CD. iTunes does not allow me to create an mp3 cd. I don't want to import/copy twice in two formats so I can create either audio CD or mp3 cd. With a windows based non iTunes program, I could do this easily - import once; create cd's in different output formats. The only problem was I didn't have the nice playlist capability. Am I wrong thinking iTunes is supposed to make it EASIER to import, store, and rearrange my collection?

  • *N OVER MY HEAD! my iTunes library disappeared from my PC, TS said uninstall then reinstall, before I reinstalled though my ipad 2 said NOT ENOUGH MEMORY as I tried to update 1 app. What do I do now?

Apparently, something went way wrong SOMEWHERE, SOMEHOW... and now I'm afraid of losing ALL MY MEDIA considering I have NO ITUNES ON MY LAPTOP! I followed all appropriate steps found in trouble shooting, when I reinstalled iTunes though, the reinstalled music on my pc was a handful of songs that were triplicates, even listed some five TIMES! And maybe a total of 20-25 different songs, a fraction of what I had initially!

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • When adding songs to Itunes library, itunes stops working

When adding songs to itunes library it stops wokring and itunes closes.

I'm having the exact same problem and I came to this forum seeking the answer.
To go into more detail, the problem occurs when you click on 'Add File to Library', then select multiple songs from a folder using the CTL key. You can add tracks individually with no problem. Use CTL to choose two or three tracks, that works fine, too. But if you choose more than that, nothing gets added to the Library.
If I had to guess, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the total number of characters allowed (on the selected tracks) before the 'Add to Library' pop-up form basically fails to work properly. I've also noticed the magic number of selected tracks to be somewhere in the 3-4 range before it doesn't work.
It definitely feels like a software bug and I've experienced it in more than one version of iTunes, including the current release. I'm hoping Apple will recognize and fix it sometime soon. Having to go into the same folder three or four times to import 10 or more tracks from the same album is pretty irritating.

  • Can users have one iTunes library deriving from two drives?

    Hi everyone,
I keep my 4 & 5 star songs on my C drive and the rest (all stars, 1,2 3, etc.) on my exhternal hard drive.
Whenever I want to listen to my music, all I can readily play are the tunes on my C drive.
I'm guessing the issues having one library for tunes stored on separate drives is insurmountable?
I say that because I'm guessing that my iPod (4th gen) is only capable of importing from one library?
I think the biggest issue is either I don't know how to (or maybe users can't) list a second drive so that iTunes can load all songs from both drives whenever I do have the second drive up and running.
Adding to the second drive library issue, I can't figure out how to permanently tag my external HD's (I've got 6) so that their drive letter is not automatically defaulting to their order of prescence.
I can deal with that issue by simply not opening iTunes while I the second drive has been assigned a drive letter other than what iTunes (hopefully) is set to (i.e.; hopefully C and F drives).
But can users have one iTunes library deriving from two drives?

Seems I've over come what is something I'd hoped/expected iTunes would be capable of (ie; reinitiating the pathway for external HD music files when their drive letter is the only thing that changed).
I tried the obvious by going to iTunes's Edit>Preferences>Advanced and clicking the change button for "iTunes Music folder location", then entered the current drive and pathway (as the drive is currently assigned, F as opposed to the original G) and of course iTunes still couldn;t find the missing tunes.
Giving up on the hope that iTunes was designed smarter than it is (ie; each and every single missing tune req's manual redirection of pathway, as opposed to a preferable tick box for something like 'use the last redirected pathway').
And I finally figured out how to properly changed drive letter assignments, but still uncertasin if that means permanently tags my EHD's with that drive letter.
For that to be permanent, maybe I need to name each drive regardless that Windows already has unique inforamtion on each HD. Suppose I'll soon find out if the drive at this point has fianlly stored its drive name and whether or not Windows will contiue to change the EHD drive letters simply by the order which I am introducing them to the os.
No real luck with rats nest USB hubs as they crash my os alot, so I'm left to trying to find an easy way of managing the EHD drive assignments. THe following is the closest I've yet to come to doing that:
Click Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management, and then in the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
Right-click the drive, partition, logical drive, or volume for which you want to assign a drive letter, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    Click Change.
Click Assign the following drive letter (if it is not already selected), click the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK.
Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the drive letter change.
Again, too bad iTunes doesn't afford a 'find' feature for 'missing' files such that one might be afforded a tick box for 'do not prompt again, instead use the last indicated location for "iTunes Music" folder as the base storage location'.
This drive renaming thing is a real hassle. Not like somebody couldn't have guessed it and Windows and/or iTunes can't afford some script, etc. to better manage 'tagging' EHD's and/or re-locating 'missing' tunes.
But then what would we have to complain about, not that they listen anyway.

  • In the itunes library, a single album appears to be split into two separate parts, how do i combine them?

my itunes library has several albums that are split into two parts. one contains half of the album's songs and the other the other half. how do i combine these so the album only appears once in it's entirety?

Generally setting a common Album Artist will fix things.

iPhone won't sync with iTunes and It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do. I tried everything!
I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

  • Songs in music library downloaded from a CD and synced to my old IPOD are not recognized by my new IPOD classic.  What is the fix?

Songs in music library downloaded from a CD and synced to my old IPOD are not recognized by my new IPOD classic.  What is the fix?

If you are using automatic syncing with your old iPod, select that iPod in iTunes and go to its Music tab (next to Summary).  Note how this Music tab is set up.  Maybe you can do a screen shot.
Now, select the new iPod in iTunes.  Go to its Music tab, like you did for the old iPod.  Set up the new iPod's Music tab exactly like the old iPod, and Apply the change.
The music on your new iPod should now match the old iPod.

    I have a similar problem.
I just bought 2 albums (Pirates of the Caribean III and Linkin Park - Mintues to midnight) and every time I want to play one of the songs it asks me for my account password. After entering it, it says this computer was activated. But it still doesn't work!!
If I want to sync I get the same message:

  • Force Re-Creation Of iTunes Library.itl from iTunes Library.xml?

Can't figure out how to edit a post, so I'm putting this here instead of adding it to "Recovery From Hosed Music Locations - Without Losing Ratings?".
    iTunes v9.
It's dawning on me that I can edit "iTunes Library.xml" and fix my hundreds (if not thousands) of broken links there.
But iTunes seems to work out of "iTunes Library.itl".
Seems like there had to be a way to get iTunes to re-create "iTunes Library.itl" from "iTunes Library.xml".
    ?

Damage the ITL first. That method has worked for several folks. Example:

Extract the hard drive from the faulty computer and recover the library from it or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. (At least one link in there may be useful even if you don't have such a device.)

  • Can't listen to songs in iTunes library on computer

When I double click on a song in iTunes library, it says I need to authorize computer (even though it's already authorized)so I enter my p/w again and get the msg that's this computer is 1 of 5 authorized but it still won't play the song. Please help. It worked fine on my old computer...Santa just brought this one! Thanks.

Thank you for quick response and link. Unfortunately, I tried all the things it said but to no avail. It's only 2 songs I bought about a year ago that won't play so I will probably just buy them again. I've spent so much time trying to figure this out, it's worth the $1.98. Thanks anyway.
