Song In Latest "Breakaway" Commercial???

I know this question has little (to absolutely nothing) to do with anything tech support-related, but a lot of people (including me of course), are curious to know the name of that unique song playing in the latest "Breakaway" commercial for the Fall 2010 ad campaign???
Is it an actual song by a commercial/indie artist, or was it made (personally) by a 3rd party sound studio?
Here's a video directly from Verizon's Youtube of the exact commercial:

Thanks in advance!

Hey mods, we really would like to know what this song is. You have a large number of paying customers and potential customers (looking to migrate my family's four lines from AT&T) that are looking all over the internet to find this out. The comments on your Youtube page regarding the commercial in question are predominantly inquiring about the song you use. I know it's a relatively small matter, but it would make a lot of people happy if you would let your customers know what we're listening to. Not to mention the aggregate customer service that would help potential customers cut the AT&T/iPhone cord. Thanks for your attention.

  • Where in iTunes Store can I find the song from the iAd commercial?

Where in the iTunes Music Store can I find the awesome background score / song from the iAd commercial featured on http://advertising.apple.com/?
Does anyone know the artist / album? Is it a GarageBand original song?

Wikipedia has an interesting list of songs used in Apple commercials, although it does not seem to have caught up with the iAd ad yet.
The album I was thinking of (which is similar to what is in the commercial) is  Tron: Legacy (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), available on iTunes, at least in the USA store.
The songs in the commercials are always so good, they should find a way to make it easy to do a quick purchase.

  • Cannot view ipod songs in latest version of Itunes

I have a 1st gen nano and I see my ipod in the latest itunes software but cannot view the music on the ipod. On another computer with older itunes software (6.0.4) I have no problems. Have updated ipod software but I don't think that is working.

You do this a little bit differently in iTunes 7. Click the triangle next to the iPod under Devices in the list on the left, then click Music below.

What is the name of the song featured on the commercial for OVI maps, the ad looks as though it's set in Florence, Italy but I'm not sure. Really would like to know. Also, I believe it's a female singer. Thanks a bunch, please help.

bah it was a royal pain the backside to uncover which damn song this was, but like the OP I too was enchanted with the melody.  Anyway without further adu, the song is Donkey by Bachelorette.  The song can be heard in full here:

  • The songs I bought are not in the file of the songs I bought.

I bought more or less 80 songs but now in the file where are the songs I bought there are only 18 songs (the latest I bought) and the songs I bought before these I can't download them. The first problem I had was that there were all the songs in the iTunes that I bought but there were twice, so I deleted one of the both, and now these songs I deleted are not in the file of the songs I bought. How can I repair that? I'm really nervous.

Sign out of the iTunes Store, Sign in again. You should be able to download your past purchases from iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer. Alternatively look in the recycle bin for the files that have been deleted, then drag & drop these into ..\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes.

  • Why won't Apple fix this problem of iTunes Cutting off songs?

I've owned seven different ipods and three iPhones. On EVERY ONE OF THEM iTunes cuts off many songs after two or three seconds of playing. We're talking here about songs either uploaded from commercially purchased DVDs or the iTunes store. I have no bootleg music, I don't customize anything related to iTunes. I just buy music and download it into iTunes from MacBook Pro laptops that are similarly as standard as one can get. Yet when I listen to the albums of songs I've just purchased, random songs play for two seconds and then change to another song. When I've researched this issue across the Web I've found detailed complaints going back as early as 2004 and I can't believe that EVERY Apple iTunes system and device I've purchased over many years has behaved in this exact manner. What are these "Apple Support Communities" FOR is Apple fails to either correct the problems they report or, worse, even acknowledge problems that are documented by thousands of users of a wide variety of iTunes related products? I don't want to have to use a work-around or a reload or some of the other Rube Goldberg-like solutions others have suggested in these and other forums. I'm spending thousands of dollars on Apple equipment and software and I simply want the Apple iTunes devices and music that I buy to WORK AS ADVERTISED, which they don't. I just want my music to play as it is supposed to play. Why can't Apple make that happen?

That's happing to me, any solution ?

I was expecting some kind of document from itunes like we receive from beatport. A proof that you bought that songs. With your informations, the song name and the prices.
To the authorities a print screen means nothing.=X

    Hello Bruno,
As you know, Beatport caters to DJ users, and provides the documentation needed to prove ownership that may be required for public performance.
The iTunes Store does not serve the DJ market.  In fact, the terms of the iTunes Store restrict the use of its songs to personal, non-commercial use.  Here is the info from the Apple Legal statement:
Ser-lhe-á autorizada a utilização dos Produtos iTunes apenas para uso pessoal, não comercial.

  • Should we upgrade to Snow leopard?

Basically, I'd suggest: don't upgrade --- but I would love to hear from those who have found any real or substantial benefits from doing so (the extreme number of messages re problems and disadvantages are already overwhelming and cover that side thoroughly)
    My experience:
I should have remembered: if it ain't broke, don't fix it (and all I was even hoping for or expecting was for my (fairly new) Mac to operate about the same with maybe a minor 64 bit speed increase).
I have encountered numerous problems and disadvantages related to SL (Snow Leopard) (though my actual several-hour upgrade/installation worked flawlessly), and what is worse, even after getting some of the problems sorted out (and some not yet) and using SL for about a week, I very much regret 'upgrading' to SL (and will be working on restoring (non-snow) Leopard tonight/tomorrow).
I have looked at every upgraded and new aspect of SL, trying to find a reason to keep it, and there is nothing of any significance to me (and, I expect, to most people) that was not already in (non-snow) Leopard in one way or another - and some advertised things like new Safari features were already available with (non-snow) Leopard as automatic/free updates (and Safari 4 works perfectly for me there). It's nice to look at the advertising and try and justify the upgrade, but do those things (some about the most minor differences - 'refined, not reinvented' as they say), make any real difference in the hours we spend using our computers each day? I couldn't find any that truly saved me time, effort or let me do more, and I looked hard.
    Now the down side...
I have a fairly new iMac (well less than a year old) with a dual core processor and 3GB RAM (and it is what I consider a very basic, typical, 'safe' setup, using the most popular brand name hardware/software, no games and very little software in general - i.e. my computer is not loaded with all sorts of 'stuff', or any uncommon 'stuff'). With SL, the OS related software (e.g. Safari) now runs in 64 bit (confirmed), but I have found no perceptible speed increase in anything from the basic to the graphic intensive - in fact, I have found quite the opposite - very significant lags, commonly in saving files, opening dialogs and certain operations (sometimes consistently, sometimes intermittently) in many software programs (including Apple OS related programs, other Apple software, and 3rd party software such as Adobe CS4) - even simply saving an image in Safari now takes a painfully long time to simply display the dialog. The 'beach ball' has become a very common sight (where it wasn't in non-snow Leopard), and a great many of the other lags and slowness occurs without the beach-ball appearing at all (which is disturbing for a number of reasons). That, combined with (for me) the system crashing, the system simply hanging when left on overnight (set to never sleep/etc), printer driver problems, UPS status problems, screen zoom problems, various program crashes, and the Finder not working properly (doesn't crash but doesn't find consistently/reliably), all means that the SL 'upgrade' is 0% benefit and 100% detrimental for me. Even without any of the specific (to me perhaps) problems/bugs above, the lags and sluggishness alone has turned a beautiful Mac into something frustrating to use (especially since I'm very used to and LOVED how consistently responsive it was with non-snow Leopard).
With (non-snow) Leopard, my Mac was basically perfect, reliable, fast, everything ran right and flawlessly, etc - all the stuff Apple talks about in their commercials. With SL, Apple has severely disappointed, and added 0 significant advantages/features and made my Mac slow, sluggish, unreliable, unstable and problematic - just like the PC they compare to in their commercials. I have also been waiting/checking for a 'software update' re the countless problems I and others have found in SL - nothing has come, or seems to be forthcoming (perhaps I have missed some acknowledgement of the problems or pending fixes by Apple). I simply hope I will be successful in restoring my Mac (through time machine) to it's pre-snow condition.
Note: If you do try SL, I'd suggest you do a full image backup beforehand (which the OS install does not suggest/warn you to do, or do itself).
If anyone has experienced any advantages with SL (other than the few esoteric 'new features' already covered in the advertising) that outweigh the disadvantages/problems and that would affect most users in a REAL/substantial way on a daily basis, please reply. If you have an experience/opinion similar (in general) to mine, a short reply would also be appreciated.
I hope Apple is taking notice of these discussions, and remembers and returns to their previous quality/standards - sorry, but we already have PC filling the other type of market, and Apple is about something different (isn't it, still, I hope!) --- and, not to be (too) funny, but is it possible SL was really written/released by Microsoft as a sneaky way to level the competition with Apple (reference the latest Apple commercial with 'PC guy' impersonating 'Apple guy')? Forgive this last paragraph - now getting off the soap box

    Hi JasonFear...
Thanks for the info... and to clarify, mine was an upgrade (rather than an erase/clean-install - as per recommendations from Apple and the discussion board, regardless of extra work involved) - I have not tried an erase/clean-install.
One reason for my (very long) post was to cover my real daily use experience re SL (aside from problems/crashes that may be specific to me or certain software) - on things like Safari, page loads are as fast (perhaps imperceptibly faster) than in non-snow Leopard; however, it is during some user interactions, things like opening dialogs (e.g. save image as one example in Safari, other dialogs, menu/button selections, saves, etc in other software) that there are lags and sluggishness - it is not that my Mac now runs slow overall (it doesn't), it is that crisp responsive interactive aspect that has greatly and very noticeably degraded (and even so, not universally or always consistently). I too have a great deal of experience in doing upgrades/etc to large numbers of systems, but not involving Macs - one thing I've have found over the years is that users will rarely ever mention things like a dialog now taking 3 seconds to appear where before it appeared instantly - if it appears at all, they often just leave it at that. Also, these type of things (lags) were not immediately noticed by me right after the upgrade, or I just wrote them off as a one-time or circumstantial thing, but they persisted and became very noticeable and appeared in more places as I got back into using the computer extensively all day as I have always done.
I thought of SL as more of an internal upgrade to allow for the future (and was aware it may have limited immediate advantage) - that is also why I put it on rather than waiting (as I would have if it were an 11.0 rather than a 10.6) - I think the reality is that it will still be quite some time before it becomes a real requirement (for future compatibility). The fact that this 'update' is charged-for (though very inexpensive) feels more like a marketing/psychological thing so there is something 'new' to release, to keep up with the other guys, and not leave the Apple users feeling like they don't have something 'new'/current.
Thanks for replying with your experience and suggestion of an erase/clean-install (though so far it still seems to be a lot of pain for no practical gain, other than being ready for the future way in advance of necessity).
Though I am encouraged to see several replies reporting no problems, I am still looking forward to some replies with real-life experiences related to real advantages for daily use of most users.

  • Can't watch apple video on website

I cannot watch the latest iPad commercial that is on the apple website. The start arrow has a line through it.

Apple website as well as their iPod, iPhone & iPad support HTML5. Apple's website functions and videos are avalable to watch at your disposal on any iDevice. There may be some issues with the wesite itself, so I would suggest waiting a couple of minutes and check back. I have watched Apples's TV spots and videos with my iPhone and iPad so don't worry.

  • Explicit Content Filter in iTunes Radio

Has anyone else had issues with the explicit content filter not filtering explicit content?
I was driving the other day with my 2 year old son, and my radio station which is set to filter explicit content was playing the un-edited Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man (a song which I do infact love, but not appropriate for my 2 year old).
It seems that the explicit filter is based on whether it is considered to be explicit in the itunes store, and I believe that is set by the content providers when providing the content to Apple.
Anyone have any other suggestions on how to prevent explicit content from playing or similar experiences?

I believe only purchased songs show ratings &
downloaded songs are not for commercial use (ie. DJs).
i dont charge anything and its only like partys for my friends os technically its not commericial

  • Performing Rights Clearance

    Hi,
I have created a piece of music in Garageband/Soundtrack for use in an advert to be shown on a European cable tv channel.
As the composer I believe I need to give performing rights clearance for use in this advert and was wondering if anybody knows of a document template anywhere for me to do this?
Something which I just need to fill in with the pertinent details would be best, or if any body knows of another way to achieve what I want then I'm all ears.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Martin

What country do you live in?
I can't give you specifics, but it depends mostly on the laws in the country where you live (and I don't know what European Union laws apply, if you live within it).
Generally if you're doing music for a commercial advertisement, the production company producing the advert will pay you a flat fee and have you sign what we call a "work for hire" agreement in the USA. The agreement says that they will then own your work outright and never pay you any further royalties.
The alternative is for you to copyright your song and grant the advert company a license to use your song for use in their specific ad campaign for a fee you negotiate. But generally an ad production company wouldn't accept those terms unless your song was already a commercial hit song (like when Apple used U2's "Vertigo" to sell iPods).
You need to find out what the copyright laws are in the country where you live, and then find out how to register a copyright. That would be a good place to start.

  • The song from the latest iPod Nano commercial

Hello and sorry if this question has been asked, but in doing a search I couldn't find it, so could someone tell me the artist and the name of the song that Apple has used in the current commercial I saw today? I was wondering if a CD of this artist is avialable as well.
The commercial is just this song playing in the background and various colors of iPod's being twirled in the dark, leaving a colorful trail, the commercial and the song both rock and are a brilliant piece of marketing on the part of
    Apple.
    Thanks.

I wasn't sure either but thank you! (Just listened to a cut of this song and thats not it, unless the commercial is some remix version, but it does not sound anything like it)
