Song information will not show up on ITunes

I've played a bunch of tracks on my 2nd Gen Ipod Shuffle and when I reconnected to my computer, the only tracks that showed up as being played were ones from earlier this afternoon (about 7 of them)
I was trying yesterday to make seperate playlists for my ITunes collection (my roommate and I both use the same computer so we keep all of our songs in the same collection) could that have something to do with what's going on now?

2. If your computer is connected to the Internet, iTunes will automatically display the album title and all track names (if the album is listed in the Gracenote CD database).

I just updated to the newest version of ITunes well, not just but a few days ago. Anyway I have windows 8, and in ITunes my Ipod 5th gen will not show up. I have tried somethings such as unpluging repluging, going to services and restarting, basiclly everything on yoyutube, none still work. It's ***** to cause I just wanted to put music on my Ipod, if anyone has an idea of what to do please give some suggestions.

1. Try the iPod troubleshooting assistant:
If you haven't already done so, try the steps in the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant (choose your iPod model from the list).
If the issue remains after following your iPod's troubleshooting assistant, follow the steps below.
2. Restart the iPod Service
3. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
4. Empty your Temp directory and restart
5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
6. Change your iPod's drive letter
7. Remove and reinstall iTunes
8. Disable conflicting System Services and Startup Items
9. Update, Reconfigure, Disable, or Remove Security Software
10. Deleting damaged or incorrect registry keys

My iPad will show up in my computer, but will not show up in iTunes.

I have windows 8 and the latest software of iTunes on my computer. When I plug my iPad in, it shows up in my computer, but it will not show up in iTunes. I have tried everything besides resetting my iPad from the troubleshoot guide on the apple website. My mom just got an iPad mini for christmas and iTunes will not recognize her iPad either. Here is what I know/can remember. My iPod has not worked in 3 months! Not sure at what point it stopped but it worked fine for a year. Now when I plug it in it charges just fine just will not show up in iTunes. Sometimes it shows up as an unknown device on my computer and in the hardware device section shows up as unknown device. Thats all I got. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting. I have took each little peice off and then reinstalled numerous times. I have even restored my computer back to square one. Still not working! I want to cry. I just want to listen to my podcasts again. They are downloading into Itunes just can't get the Ipod Touch to show up in iTunes...willing to try anything! Please help if you can! I have a 16GB and use XP with SP3. I assume all my hardware is good to go since it worked before and it charges through the USB port!

It still could be cable or contacts in the iPod since different contacts/conductor are used for charging and data

After being on the phone for hours to apple who were very helpful i had no luck we triad everthing, While waiting for a call back today i refreshed windows using the upgrade disk i had from my upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8. it did not wipe any files but did delete lots of apps but gave me a list of deleted apps. Then I reinstalled itunes and connected ipad then iphone and it finaly loaded the driver and alowed me to synk with itunes.

Okay. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere before, but I don't have time to surf through all those posts, so here's my problem. I had an old MacBook with an iTunes account and my iPod Classic would sync up to it just fine. Now I am using someone else's iMac and my iPod will not show up in iTunes. The iMac recognizes my iPod; the icon for it will show up on the desktop. iTunes also somehow recognizes my iPod, because when I hook it to the usb, iTunes automatically opens up. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it (twice) via the steps you get from Apple support. I've also tried misc. other tips apple gives you, and to no avail. I'm tired of trying the same old thing- nothing ever works!! Any suggestions???? Thanks!

Ipod touch will not show up in itunes after update 11.1.14.62

After updating iTunes to 11.1.14.62 my 3 of my 4 devices will not show up in iTunes. I have two iPod touch devices, an iPhone 4, and an old iPod Shuffle. The only one that shows up is the iPod Shuffle. Everything was fine until this latest update. I've checked with other people and they're having the same issue. I have Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Double check the version of iTunes on your computer. You must have iTunes 11.1 or later.

My 4th gen ipod shuffle will not show up in iTunes, and is not recognized by my computer. I am using a MacBook Pro purchased six months ago, with all software up to date. I am using the most recent version of iTunes,and the original factory connector. It does charge through the computer, but is not seen by the computer. I have gone through all of the recommened troubleshooting, and have verified that the connectors are plugged in properly.

The cable that I'm using came with my 5th gen nano. The 6th gen Ipod shows that it's connected but the computer doesn't see it, so I don't think that it's the cable.
I did try this before when looking at the troubleshooting guide and nothing happens. It just resets and then the Ipod screen tells me that it's connected to the computer. It still is unseen by Itunes and no where to be found in my computer.
I don't have another computer to plug it into at the moment but I may be able to visit a friend that owns a decent PC in a few days. If that doesn't work out I will be getting a new lap top in a week and I'm hoping that it will work on that, but it won't be a Mac. So, let's say it works when I plug it into one of these computers, should I reset my Ipod from there or is there something else I should do?
