Song into ringtone

I downloaded the Star Wars song, and later tried to convert into a ringtone---only to be told by itunes that it can no longer be made into a ringtone.
is there a way to tell if a song from itunes can be made into a ringtone without having to buy it first.

Eligible songs are indicated with a bell icon next to the song name.

Anyone could teach me how to convert my MP3 music in my iPhone 5 into Ringtone?

You can't do this directly within the device. Your media needs to be in an iTunes library on your computer. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if necessary.
    Select your song.
On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
Right-click on the song and select Create AAC version.
Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer.
Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
Delete the broken entry to the file that you renamed and moved.

  • Purchased song into ringtone

I'm trying to create ringtones from songs I bought through i-tunes and it says the songs "can no longer be made into a ringtone" but some other songs I have purchased work. What's the deal?

Not all songs have been licensed for use as an iphone ringtone by the band/record label.
The songs that currently have a bell icon in the bell/ringtone column (in itunes) should be available as a ringtone - although that can change.

  • I can't convert songs into ringtones

Yesterday, I had 50 songs that I could convert now I have none. I tried changing Rockstar by Nickelback and Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. Yesterday, they were both convertable, now there not.

At times on my system the bells disappear. Not the bell column, but the bells that show up in the column indicating that they are ring-tone capable. All I've had to do (even though the bell is not showing up) is right click on one of the songs that I KNOW is ok'd for ring-tones, scroll down to "Create Ringtone" and then iTunes brings up the ringtone creator at the bottom of iTunes. So give that right click a try and see if it helps.
By the way, you do know don't you that you must purchase the song first, then pay an additional $.99 to make it a ringtone right?

  • How do you convert itune songs into ringtones

how do you convert itunes music into ringtones

Basically it is equivalent to transferring songs from an iPod to another iPod- impossible?
Is my only option to transfer songs I purchased on the iPad to my Itune library on the PC and then connect my iPod as usual? Or is there any other more convenient way?

  • How do I turn a purchased song (itune 10) into ringtone for my iphone

I am trying to turn a previously purchased song into ringtone.  How do I that?  I know the song is available as ring tone since when I select "purchase more tunes" for ringtone in my phone, I can find the song.

Thank you.  I tried Google and followed the steps.  After creating AAC format, I can not change the extention of the file.  There is no extention.  Just the file name.  That is where I am stuck.

  • Songs Bought from iTunes Store Can No Longer Be Made Into Ringtones???

I just tried to make a ringtone with a song I bought from the iTunes store a couple of months ago - it's telling me "This song can no longer be made into a ringtone."
Is there an expiration date on songs purchased from the iTunes store??? Incredibly lame if so.

are you guys sure those songs can be made into ringtones? you can't just purchase any song and make it a ringtone it actualy must have the ringtone bell next to it. i purchased the new kanye cd and i got those messages when i tried to convert some of his songs which had no bells...amybe this is your problem?

  • What? Now those purchased songs can't be made into ringtones?

Well, I buy a lot of music from the iTunes music store, and I have an iPhone. Perfect. Now I can make my own ringtones!
Well, it used to be that way. I made three ringtones about 6 months ago. Recently, however, I began to realize that fewer and fewer of the songs in my library had the ringtone button. What's going on? I even checked the songs that I had already made into a ringtone, and even THEY were missing the button?
A quick check on the iTunes Music Store shows me that many of the albums I have purchased are able to be turned into ringtones. Why, then, can I not do that? I ALREADY BOUGHT THEM, and indeed I already used some of them!
I called apple and was informed that I must repurchase the songs, because they had been "updated." Really? If that is the case, and I must repurchase songs that I have already purchased, just so I can then further purchase 30 seconds of that song for a ringtone, then I quit. If there really is no other way, then I will never buy from iTunes Music Store again. I am a long time Mac customer and music enthusiast, and I will NOT be punished for trying to do things the legal way.
    Is there any other way?

Anyone you might have reached on the phone will have no knowledge about the issue; the iTunes Store does not have any telephone support, and the Apple tech support reps have no information about the iTunes Store products or policies.
First, make sure that you're running the latest version of iTunes and that you're connected to the US iTunes Store (look for the My Country link at the bottom of the main iTunes Store page; I presume you are since you say some tracks do show the ringtone icon). If both are correct, you can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Contact page and explain the problem to them. Note that it's entirely possible that the owner of the tracks in question may have withdrawn permission for Apple to sell them as ringtones; such things do happen from time to time.
    Good luck.

  • Change a song into a ringtone

how do i change a song into a ringtone

I've seen the suggestion to follow ehow iPhone ringtones before, but, as with every other suggestion, I get to one point and what my computer says and what the instructions claim it will say are two different things. For instance, I get to the point on the ehow tutorial (#11) to right-click the ringtone and select "Delete." I do that, and what is SUPPOSED to pop up is a selection box with a (#12) "Keep Files" option. I do not get the "Keep Files" option; rather, a "Remove" or "Cancel" button. If I click "Cancel," of course, it brings me back to square one. If I select "Remove," it removes the files and closes it out with no option to keep the file somewhere. What type of computer is actually in use in the ehow directions?

  • HT201272 How do I turn a purchased song into a ringtone without repurchasing the song?

How do I turn a purchased song into a ringtone without repurchasing the song?

    This isn't possible.
The song's copyright holder would charge more for it if it was being played on multiple devices at once but overlooks the remote possibility that any given person would be playing the full song on two or more devices at the same time; there's much more chance of that happening if the song is converted into a ringtone, so they charge more.

  • How can i convert my song into .mr4 for making it my ringtone, just renaming it is not working?

how can i convert my song into .mr4 for making it my ringtone, just renaming it is not working?

    Here's how:
If you are using Windows, make sure you are able to view the file extension.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219
    1. Select a title (.mp3 or .m4a) in your iTunes Music Library
    2. Do File > Get Info on selected title (Windows do Edit > Get Info)
    3. In the dialog choose Options tab
    4. Set Start Time and End Time (no more than 35 secs otherwise won't work)
    5. Close dialog.
    6. Now control click the title (right click) and choose Create AAC Version
Note: If you don't have Create AAC version, switch in menu File > Preferences...(Windows do Edit > Preferences...) > General > Import Settings... > Import Using: AAC Encoder.
    7. When it is done, drag the newly create title to the desktop.
    8. Delete the newly create title in iTunes. <-- This step is important
    9. Rename the title on your desktop from ringtone.m4a to ringtone.m4r
    10. Drag and drop it into iTunes
    Now you have a ringtone.
Make sure it is selected in iTunes > Tones for syncing with your new iPhone.

  • Purchased song cant be made into ringtone?

I know that we have to purchase a song from iTunes to make it into a ringtone so I did, but to only find out that it can't be made into a ringtone.
I already have the song on my computer (I ripped it from my cd's) and so I have two copies, a worthless one that can't even be made into a ringtone, and one that I have on my iPod.
What should I do since we can't make my own customizable ringtones?
or is there something that we can make my own ringtones?

As for bought songs you need to make sure it has a bell icon next to it in the iTunes store. Only those songs can be made into ringtones (not all songs are available).
As for custom. Well, you can look for the software mentioned, but you can also do it yourself quite easily if you know a little about how to use a computer and find the instructions online. With iTunes 7.5 and iPhone firmware 1.1.2 one can make their own ringtones pretty easy (at least easy for me).
Sorry, cannot post instructions here as they have deleted past posts about it.
