Song Library backup

My Library is reaching 4,000 songs. I'd like to back it up somehow ...incase something were to happen, and I risk loosing so much music.
Seems like too many songs to backup onto CD's.
Can anyone reccomend a better way to save these songs?
I think my CD's might only allow about 20 or so songs per CD.
Are there better CD's that allow more?...or what do people generally do?

Yes, they usually hook up to a USB port. I don't know about prices in the USA, but I should think they are cheaper than an iPod. It depends on the size, I have a 200 GB one which I use to backup my whole system including music.
I use backup software which does incremental backups (backs up changes) so it is pretty quick after the initial backup. Windows XP pro comes with back software installed, but with the home edition you have to install it off the CD, or some external drives are supplied with backup sofware.

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

Library Backup to DVD option missing? Or am I blind?

I just finished adding more music to my iTunes library, and I wanted to create a backup disc for the songs I recently added. However for some odd reason, I see no "Backup to CD/DVD" option under File >Library> Backup. Am I going blind, or was something changed or OMITTED in the recent update to iTunes v10.4.80?

While I may not be able to help burning inside itunes, you can always make a backup through a 3rd party burning software like nero.
Personally I use itunes to keep track of what isn't backed up but I use nero to burn any data dvds I might need.

The only thing I can think of is that you deleted these files off your computer without using iTunes to do it. Or maybe you backed up your computer to a previous state to where these song files didn't exist? The last one doesn't even make sense to me unless you used Time Machine to do it. But those are the only things I can think of.

I solved this by reset of the Wifi (unplug cable and power to both modem and wifi ... wait 60 sec ... plug in modem cable and power ... plug in wifi power and LAN to modem ... restart AppleTV and Mac ... Turn Home Share 'OFF' in iTunes then back "ON" ... it took ~60 sec for the AppleTV to pick up my Mac in computers.

Under the file tab in iTunes, select Display Duplicates. From there you can delete them as well.

How to sync the iTunes songs library with other two computers thru iPhone?

I have three Apple computers, the main being iMac 24", on which I usually purchase music from iTunes and import from my CDs. Thus, it has the biggest collection of songs, roughly about 1200. I also sync my iPhone 3GS 32 GB with this comp, and songs fill in slightly more than 6 GB on iPhone. But then when I sync my iPhone with the MacBook Air or my old PowerBook G4, about 2 GB of songs disappear, reducing the songs library to what is on the computers, while I'd like to transfer all songs (newly purchased and imported) from the iPhone to those comps, too, which are BTW, respectively authorized.
Seems to be a simple issue, and I read all Help content, and tried all iTunes Menu functions, but can't solve it! Any help from real Apple experts?

I've been restoring my iTunes folder from a backup hard drive to a new computer on which I've downloaded the latest iTunes (10.7). If this is a newer version than the one I backed up with could this be the problem? (I had the latest (to my knowledge) iTunes when I backed up the folder about 3 weeks ago, was this version 10.7?)
Or is the version of iTunes (within recent updates) not an issue when restoring a library?

The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.

Library Backups No Longer Being Created in 10.1.2

No matter what I do, Library Backups are no longer being created in 10.1.2. This is happening on all 6 of my production Mac Pros and iMacs. I can change the location of the Library Backup folder, but nothing is ever created in the new location. It's as if FCPX no longer knows how to backup libraries.
Some background...
We are working with Libraries and Media files on our XSAN Volume.
OSX 10.9.3
FCPX 10.1.2
We did not notice the Backups were not being performed until one of our Libraries had an issue and we could not find a single Backup of the library.
What I have tried...
Move Libraries to Local System Volume - Still No Backups.
Change Library Backup Location - Still No Backups.
Toggle Library Backup Location to No Backups and then Back to Backups - Still No Backups.
Ensure Proper Permissions on Library Backup Folder - Still No Backups.
Trash FCPX Preferences - Still No Backups.
ReInstall FCPX - Still No Backups.
I am at a loss at what to do next. I can't even see the backup process happening in console, or any errors that might give me a clue as to why it's not working. Short of trying to reinstall Mac OS on one of my production macs, I see no other alternative. Considering I'm having this issue across our entire production system, I'm wondering if this is a very serious FCPX 10.1.2 bug.
Is anyone else having these issues????

Some of us have our enture itunes library backed up on CD/DVD - what a waste of time and effort as now presumably you can't use these discs to restore itunes on a new computer! WHY NOT APPLE?
Very unimpressed with itunes 10.5/ios5 - wifi tracking apps have been removed from the store (and won't function in ios5), it's impossible to sync photos (I have spent a whole day trying to sync my iphone 3GS with itines 10.5) to no avail and now, no CD backup facility.

Songs' library transfer from nano to MacBook Pro

Just bought a macbook pro 13" retina transfering from a 7yr old dell pc realized that only half of the songs in the itunes transfered correctly. My specific question is: Is there a best way to transfer all of your songs' library from your ipod nano to the itunes in my macbook pro? i found similar questions in the forum but date back to 2006 and I would like to have more up to date info..Thanks!!

From your nano to MacBook? If you still have the Dell, you can also go from Dell to MacBook...
To answer your question, you cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to your Mac. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the songs files are on your MacBook's drive, you can add them to your iTunes library.
NOTE: For songs purchased by you from the iTunes Store, you can also re-download them at no cost from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.

ITunes 8 on XP - Library Backup keeps asking for blank disc

With iTunes 8 on XP we do a library backup and step through the
dialogs it'll spin up the CD/DVD drive like it's starting to do
a backup but then immediately stops and prompts to insert a blank
disc (the discs are blank).
This is a Sony drive and we have no problem burning audio CDs using
Nero. We tried both CDs and DVDs of different makes.

There's nothing to prevent you from using the BDs for backing up your iTunes Library. You just won't be able to do it from within iTunes. You'll need to use some other back up software to back up your iTunes folder. In fact, my experience is that using iTunes to handle the back up can be problematic and your better off just doing standard back ups. I like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. I don't know if either or both support Blu-Ray but it's worth checking out.
