Song order in AppleTV

When I play music on my Ipod I can go into the Artist list, then find an artist, select All and all of the albums will play from that artist, album by album. But when I go through the AppleTV menu and choose Artist form the list, then All, it plays the Songs in alphabetical order, regardless of which album they came from. Is there a way to switch it to Album Order? I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any info.

I suspect Apple changed from the way it works on the ipod as they believed it made more sense. I realise it doesn't do what you want any longer, but I was just pointing out it was probably done because more people want it that way or at least apple thinks they do.

  • The Song order in my AppleTV playlists

The song order within my playlists on my AppleTV are in the reverse order from those on my computer. How can I get them to be the same?

The easy answer is to reverse the song list in itunes, just click on the heading 'name' in the itunes window.
I somehow suspect that you want the list on the tv to be the same as itunes and not itunes to be the same as the tv though, unfortunately the listing on the tv is set by default so you cannot do this.

  • IPod First Generation Song Order Problem

    Equipment Specs:
    IPOD -- First Generation, 1 G size, Firmware ver # 1.1.5
    ITunes -- Ver # 7.2.0.34
    Problem
I recently updated to the above version of ITunes. I also recently reset/erased all my songs (no podcasts or nothing else)from my IPOD.
I then reloaded just songs to my pod using the drag and drop method from the music file. I then re-arranged the songs in my desired order.
I then disonnected the pod and exited ITunes.
When I later restarted ITunes with the pod connected, my song order had changed. With the pod still open in ITunes, I am no longer able to change the play order position. As say, move song #45 to position #2 and etc.
Has something changed as I was always able to do this prior to updating ITunes and the pod ?
Was this caused by updating ITunes to the newest version?
Is there a solution to be able to manage the order of your songs as before ?
    Thx

OK, When I am trying to do this, I see the following
    columns
    1. name
    2. time artist and so on
In the name column the songs are numbered.
I've been referring to the UNlabeled column to the LEFT
of the "Name" column all this time... you seem to not be able to recognize that there actually IS such column according to your description.
I'm referring to the numbers on the LEFT side as in this image:

When I try and move 9 to 5 or whatever there is no
horizontal line as I have seen in previous versions.
I know how I accomplished this task before and it is
    not working in this version.
Would it work to revert back to an earlier version of
    Itunes ?
Dunno... from what I've read in the iTunes discussions
this problem has not appeared there.
BUT you CAN delete iTunes 7.2 and then go to http://filehippo.com/download_itunes and download 7.1.1 (under Old Versions in box on right side of page)
Install it and see if it solves the problem...
What version are you using ?

  • I cannot change song order on playlist with highlight and drag. I have turned off shuffle and highlighted the far left column( up/down arrow) of playlist. My mac pro is running 10.5.8  and am using itunes 10.4.

I cannot change song order on playlists (old or new) with highlight and drag. I have turned off shuffle and highlighted the far left column (up/down arrow) of playlist. My mac pro is running 10.5.8  and am using itunes 10.4. I can't drag and drop "music" to "playlist" but can right click and get the option to "add to playlist." No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

  • Song order sometimes changes when I sync iPod to iTunes

Hi, I have a problem when syncing my iPod Video 30GB (software version 1.2, I think, it's the latest one anyway) to iTunes (version 7).
After completed sync, for some albums, the song order on the iPod does not match the song order in iTunes. Of course, I want the songs of the albums to appear in the correct order on the iPod.
Please note that all my "shuffle/random" settings are off.
One thing I have noticed is that if I uncheck a song in iTunes, a song that has already been synced into the iPod once, the song is not erased from the iPod after new sync. Instead, it appers before the first song of the album, which is a bit irritating. But my problem is larger that this; the reordering of songs also happens with albums for which I haven't unchecked any songs in iTunes.

More background. When I export my iTunes library to an xml file, and view the file in a text editor, I see that the tracks that appear in the wrong order on the iPod are in the correct order in the xml file, with the correct track numbers. On the way to the iPod, something weird happens.
Would be great if someone could take a shot at this.

  • Ipod shuffles song order when syncing

ive noticed ever since i downloaded the newest version of itunes (itunes 10.2.1.1) that every time i sync the ipod with my computer, it will screw up the order of the tracks of the artist i most recently listened to ONLY on my ipod. the song order remain correct on itunes. but when i sync it again without having edited anything, it will restore it to original, or even some times mess up the order further. anyone else having this problem or know a fix to it? thanks

My best guess is that you have clicked a column header so it is sorting the tracks by something other than track number.
Try clicking on the column header above the track numbers and see if that fixes it.

  • Song order wrong on ipod but right on itunes

my one album appears right on my itunes in terms of song order but when i go to play the album on my ipod the one song is first when it should be last. How do i put the song back in order?

I've got the exact same problem. I'd love to hear a solution. Thanks.

Wished I never would have updated to 7.2 from whatever I had. I really should have know better.

  • ITunes/iPod song order problem

i have an original 512 shuffle that i load with podcasts and a few songs to listen to while i commute. i drag the podcasts from the library to the ipod in itunes and them arrange them in the order that i want them played. when i disconnect the ipod and turn it on (not in shuffle mode) the files are not in the order that i had them arranged. when i plug the ipod back into my mac the order is not how i arranged it. this only started recently. ideas?
    Powermac G5 2.7   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Why assume that Podcasts are not music? Or that files in a user's Library are music? I subscribe to music podcasts and my Library has many audio books and spoken word recordings. Shouldn't my iPod let me arrange these tracks in the order of my choice, rather than assuming (incorrectly most of the time) that I would want the podcasts on top? I don't think I would have any difficult finding and playing podcasts if Apple left my song order untouched. (Needless to say, like the originator of this thread, I am not using it in "shuffle" mode.)
Okay, as long as you define 'bad' as 'not the way I
want it to be'. You might want to consider how, given
the design of the Shuffle, you'd ever be able to find
and listen to just Podcasts (and not music) if they
were NOT placed at the top of the list in that play
    mode.
If you want your iPS to treat your podcasts just like
any other garden-variety music track then you'll
probably have to jump through some or all of the
miscellaneous hoops that people have discovered and
discussed in these and other forums. The subject has
been covered ad nauseum; you'll have a lot to choose
    from.
Or, you can simply get some other MP3 player which
will do what you want. I'm not claiming that there is
one, but there certainly could be.
In the meantime, it is what it is

  • I have a playlist and want to copy it in the same song order to my iphone, but itunes doesn't do this for me. Solutions?

I have made a playlist for an event, and want to copy it from my iMac iTunes to my iphone in the same song order. But it doesn't do this. How do I ensure the copy is the same order as on my computer iTunes?
    thanks for any help!

If any of your music was not purchased from iTunes, then copyright prevents any transfer back to the iTunes app.
iTunes will hold a record of all your purchases and all your non Itune purchases will not be processed.
I could not reload my music library built up from non iTune products and can not get 1 to reload from apple devices to other apple devices I own.
Also having upgraded software the libray wont take. I have to re-rip my music back to the Macbookpro then back to the iPhone 4s running IOS 6 over 700 tracks not funny!!!!

  • Issue with exported playlist song order

I exported a playlist (with the playlist sorted on the manually arranged order, far left column) as a .xml file using iTunes 7.0.2. When a friend imports this playlist into his iTunes (7.0.1) the song order is incorrect (again with sorting done on the far left column). When I look at the exported XML file with a text editor the order of the song entries is also wrong in the XML file. Has anyone elsed noticed this problem?

Actually, I looked more closely in the text editor and the playlist order looks correct so there appears to be an issue with 7.0.1 (I guess).

  • Song order in itunes is out of order, can't fix with get info as apple suggests

I recently got a new 160gb Ipod and noticed when i synced with my itunes library that a lot of my albums are out of order. looked around trying to fix myself, but the suggestion to go to 'get info' tab and fix song order is not working. Noticed that the date on a lot of the albums is 1969 despite the fact that they are newer albums

  • N9 Music player - wrong song order

    Hello,
I have issues with the music player. I always copy my music to N9 with Nokia Link, and all my mp3 files are tagged by me, including details like song title, album, artist, song number. I am very meticulous about it
The player, however does not start the album with song number 1. It tends mess up the song order of my albums.
    Help, anybody had similar issues?

Try using Nokia Music Player, It recognises the N9 and works great with no problems and is alot easier when dealing with your music (editing info, playlists etc.), compared to Nokia Link

  • Why can't I change song order?

I have a playlist and I suddenly find I can't change the song order by dragging a song up or down the list. What's the matter? (iTunes 11.0.1)

I found that by selecting the left column (order numbers) I could drag songs into new positions.

  • Song order on albums

My iPod always displays the wrong order of songs for particular albums. I tried connecting it to the computer and changing the song order via iTunes but it was correct on iTunes. Went back to iPod and it is still the wrong song order on those albums. Any solutions?

I got it - some songs had "Album Artist" set, some not. Those without were at the end of the list, regardless of the track number set. iTunes disregards "Album Artist" and shows songs in correct order. I simply removed album artist in all tracks and the order became correct. Setting album artist to the same for all tracks would also work.
As for artist order, it also became correct ("The Beatles" under "B") after I reinstalled iTunes with English (by default, the first installation was German - stay away from it).
