Song order in ipod/itunes

hello everyone, i have a small problem with itunes/ipod: sometimes an album won't show up in itunes with the songs in the right order, and renaming the track numbers won't change that (ex: tracks 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10 and track 5 at the end). When i upload to my ipod two albums show up instead of one. One has all the tracks in order (1 to 10) and the other one has the only unordered track in it (only track 5). how can i get these albums in itunes/ipod with the right tracklisting? thanx alot:)
mattia

Everything on the songs tags has to be EXACTLY the same. FOr example you may have 3 tracks, 2 have this as the artist
Elvis
One has it like this
elvis
In order for the 3rd track to be listed with the other 2, you have to change the e to E in Elvis. Same thing with album name, it has to be EXACT.
You can access the songs tags in iTUnes by rightclicking it and hitting "Get Info"

  • Song Order on iPod won't match Song order in iTunes

I have albums that have the songs set up in the correct order on the iPod display in iTunes, but when I'm using the iPod away from the computer, the order is wrong. I feel like I've tried everything, including deleting the songs from the iPod and retransferring them from iTunes, resetting the iPod, and changing the track numbers, but no luck. Any suggestions?

OK, in case anybody can use this info, I found the answer to my own problem: The are fields for "Album" and "Album Artist." The songs with an entry for "Album Artist" were listed first on my iPod even though they were not listed first in iTunes. I just had to delete the entries under "Alubum Artist."

  • Changing song order on ipod

I changed the song order in a playlist in itunes, deleted all the songs from the list in the ipod, then put the songs back on the playlist on the ipod. It still puts them back in the wrong order. Is there an easier way to do this?

Never mind, I think it did put them in the right order.

  • Song Order on ipod

i've read a lot of posts about trying to get your songs in abc order, but none of them help. when i drag the song into the ipod playlist it drops the song to the bottom of the list i've tried clicking the name tab at the top but nothing. the only sure way to get the newly added songs in abc order is to completly remove the playlist from the ipod click the name tab in the playlist then put the playlist back into the ipod but its getting annoying waiting 10-15 minutes while all the songs get but back into the ipod. anyone know of a quick way to get them in abc order?

  • Playlist song order correct in iTunes, incorrect on device.

The playlist is smart.  The song order is correct in iTunes and shows the correct order on the device if you look at the contents through iTunes.  However, when looking at the playlist on the device itself the songs are out of order.

Well, while the playlist in iTunes and the playlist on the iPhone, as it appears in iTunes, match, the problem is that the iPhone seems to be stripping the instruction to order the songs randomly.  That instruction is given in the 'limit to 30 GB selected by random' line.  The list on the iPhone is in order from least recently played to most recently played.  The highlighted column in the playlist is the leftmost 'number' column not the Last Played column.  Any clues hiding out there?

  • Song order on ipod playlist problem.

I just got a new Ipod (30G) and I just finished putting 1000+ songs on it, it was hard work but i finally got it. Yet I found out that my ipod is doing to the same things my other one was doing, Instead of sorting the songs in Alphabetical order by Artist in my playlist, it will only sort it by the date added instead.
I put my songs manually instead of syncing and Im not about to reorganize all my songs on Itunes for this problem.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks.

If you go into iTunes, select the playlist then right click and pick "Copy To Playorder" it will leave the order the way it is. I think it transfers that way to the iPod as well. Not sure how Manually syncing effects that, but you may need to redrag the playlist over to the iPod for it to take effect. Try it on a small playlist first and see if it works.

  • The song order isn't right

    Hello
I have a 4th generation iPod and no matter what the song order is on iTunes or the song number in the id3, on one album the last song is the first and on another one it's completely mixed up.
I've tried setting the disc number 1 of 1 which was a trick I found on the net. But that didn't work either.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank You

Mine does this all the time, Ill just turn the TV off and then back on and its fine

  • Can't sync songs after 14 gb, itunes gives errors!! Please help!

Hello to everyone, I'm using an Ipod classic, 6th generations, 2009 and i am using itunes with windows 8.1. After the new update of Itunes, i couldn't sync new songs to my Ipod, Itunes shows a lot of erros like 50, 53, 13039. I read and tried a lot of solutions to solve it, i uninstall the Itunes and reinstalled the latest version, it didn't help, i restore, reboot my ipod it didn't help, i deleted my whole library, i tried different cables to plug in, i used all of my usb slots, none of them has helped me!! I'm so close to throw my Ipod out!! I need some help and advice. I could be allowed to sync aprox. 14 gb of songs, but after the remaining space comes to 130 gb (or some other equal space) it starts to give errors that i mentioned above. The only thing that i didn't give a try is trying syncing my ipod with another pc. Is there anybody to help me? What can i do? I guess the problem is with my ipod's harddisk, i hope it is not, i don't want to pay money to get it repaired! All kind of helps will be appreciated! Have a nice day!

Thank you, but I did that. I de-selected and then re-selected but because the 13019 still won't allow the sync, all it did was completely delete everything on my Ipod!  I now have no songs on my Ipod when at least before, I had all my songs but the new 12 songs!  I'm freaking!

  • When I sync my ipod to add new material, sometimes itunes will automatically rearrange the song order of my pre-existing albums by number of plays. Why does it do this? And is there a way to stop it?

When I add an album to itunes and subsequently to my ipod, everything is arranged by track number of the album. Sometimes when I sync in order to add new material to my ipod, itunes for some reason automatically rearranges some of my pre-existing material by songs with the greatest number of plays to least (though sometimes it seems to be completely random). When I check itunes on my computer, everything still appears to be in order but the way it appears on the device often is in the previously mentioned disorder. Why does it do this? Is there any setting that I can adjust to make it stop because the only way I've found so far is to delete the rearranged material and re-import the cd and then re-sync. It might sound picky, but I prefer that my music be in order by track number as the artists themselves intended for various reasons the foremost being that I often listen to whole albums from start to finish and this glitch makes such problematic. I have found some settings in preferences that focus on how material is arranged but this seemed to be focused on the actual folders where the music is located on my hard drive and not the way it appears on the ipod. If anyone knows the reason it does this or has suggestions on fixing it, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

Did the original songs that do not appear on the car player play in the Music app on the iPod? Sometimes glitches happen and they do not. Also, If y ohave a 5G iPod/iOS 7, purchase songs  will show with an cloud icon by them if they are not downloaded if Shall All is turned on in Settings>iTunes and App Store

  • Song order sometimes changes when I sync iPod to iTunes

Hi, I have a problem when syncing my iPod Video 30GB (software version 1.2, I think, it's the latest one anyway) to iTunes (version 7).
After completed sync, for some albums, the song order on the iPod does not match the song order in iTunes. Of course, I want the songs of the albums to appear in the correct order on the iPod.
Please note that all my "shuffle/random" settings are off.
One thing I have noticed is that if I uncheck a song in iTunes, a song that has already been synced into the iPod once, the song is not erased from the iPod after new sync. Instead, it appers before the first song of the album, which is a bit irritating. But my problem is larger that this; the reordering of songs also happens with albums for which I haven't unchecked any songs in iTunes.

More background. When I export my iTunes library to an xml file, and view the file in a text editor, I see that the tracks that appear in the wrong order on the iPod are in the correct order in the xml file, with the correct track numbers. On the way to the iPod, something weird happens.
Would be great if someone could take a shot at this.

  • Song order wrong on ipod but right on itunes

my one album appears right on my itunes in terms of song order but when i go to play the album on my ipod the one song is first when it should be last. How do i put the song back in order?

I've got the exact same problem. I'd love to hear a solution. Thanks.

  • ITunes/iPod song order problem

i have an original 512 shuffle that i load with podcasts and a few songs to listen to while i commute. i drag the podcasts from the library to the ipod in itunes and them arrange them in the order that i want them played. when i disconnect the ipod and turn it on (not in shuffle mode) the files are not in the order that i had them arranged. when i plug the ipod back into my mac the order is not how i arranged it. this only started recently. ideas?
    Powermac G5 2.7   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Why assume that Podcasts are not music? Or that files in a user's Library are music? I subscribe to music podcasts and my Library has many audio books and spoken word recordings. Shouldn't my iPod let me arrange these tracks in the order of my choice, rather than assuming (incorrectly most of the time) that I would want the podcasts on top? I don't think I would have any difficult finding and playing podcasts if Apple left my song order untouched. (Needless to say, like the originator of this thread, I am not using it in "shuffle" mode.)
Okay, as long as you define 'bad' as 'not the way I
want it to be'. You might want to consider how, given
the design of the Shuffle, you'd ever be able to find
and listen to just Podcasts (and not music) if they
were NOT placed at the top of the list in that play
    mode.
If you want your iPS to treat your podcasts just like
any other garden-variety music track then you'll
probably have to jump through some or all of the
miscellaneous hoops that people have discovered and
discussed in these and other forums. The subject has
been covered ad nauseum; you'll have a lot to choose
    from.
Or, you can simply get some other MP3 player which
will do what you want. I'm not claiming that there is
one, but there certainly could be.
In the meantime, it is what it is

  • Itunes ipod tranfer of songs rearranges song order. How do I correct this

why are the songs in every album I transfer from my itunes to my ipod reorganized to be in alphabetical order?

See my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topics Use an album friendly view and Tracks out of sequence.
When you say the songs are listed alphabetically is this when looking at the iPod while connected to iTunes, in the iPods Cover Flow, Album & Artist Menus or within your playlists. If a playlist is showing up in the wrong order, arrange it iTunes the way you want, then right/option-click on the playlist title and click on Copy To Play Order.

Plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane.  This brings you to the Summary tab.  Locate and click on the Music tab.  What configurations do you have made from under this tab?  Is your iPod configured to sync those playlists?
