Song order messing up in very strange ways.
I've recently had a very strange problem with itunes displaying the album song order correctly.
For some (not all, but quite a few) of my albums, The first song has moved to the last slot. Sometimes this happens for up to 5 or 6 different songs in an album. The strangest part, however, is that albums will begin to do this randomly. Albums that were perfectly fine the day before are now also messed up. I have already tried correcting tags and double checking to make sure everything is the same for all songs. Is there any solution to this problem?
For your convenience, I've taken some screenshots so you can understand what I'm talking about.

Lost a LOT of WORK in a very strange way...
I just finished a long demo project (imovie 3.0.3) at 2 am last night.
I watched it and saved it 2 x , only on my external hardrive, no other back ups. And this morning I go to open it up, with the idea of putting it onto dvd and everything seems snafued:
My timeline is gone and all the clips are chopped up in the clips pane in 28 second chunks....
I've tried pasting everything back into order and each clip is somehow shorter than it used to be- my 2 min 10 sec video is reduced to like 30 seconds... Hair ripping experience.
I don't know where my edited audio is either...
I'm trying to figure out how to recapture everything without having to start all over...
More info: this past 2 weeks any time i opened i movie (after shutting the computer down) my work in progress file would automatically open up- it would ask" x amount of stray files in your project, do want to keep them or trash them" and I would say keep them; then it would bring another pop up saying " do you want to move clips into clip panes or leave files alone" and I would say move them to clip pane.
This morning my project did not come up so i went to go and open it up automatically and so i went through the steps to open it up in my files, and then the same questions come up....
A list of all my files, audio, video, photo etc is present in the list- but when i open it up all the clips are in the clip pane, with no audio and no timeline...NO VIDEO
Voila,
perhaps, just perhaps some clever person or some other tormented fellow has had this situation and can scoop me out my dementia's poop!!!
Mac OS X (10.3.9)Sounds a little odd- but what do you mean by what formatting does my external hard drive pocess... It is Lacie 250 gig external hard drive ; my project was about 4 gigs alltogethere.
Since my last post i realized that these 0.28 sec. clips are all transitions- from the las clip to the next - it does not actually show me the " transition" icon neither in the pane nor if i drag it into the timeline; they are mini tansitions only.
I've also looked in my media files for my project and realized that that all these 0:28 clips are listed as transitions... there are no records of any actual movies.... my pictures are intact and my titles are as well../ -
Very strange playlist limit (751 songs)
Hi! As far as I know the maximum number of songs for each playlist ist at about 10.000 or something like that. For me this would be a number I probaly never would reach.However I'm afraid Spotify have a bug concerning the limit. My playlist can only have 751 songs (what is a very strange and odd number). When I want to add a new song, there is no error message or something similiar - it seems to work fine. Only when I look into the playlist I see there aren't new songs added. As you might understand this is pretty annoying, beaucse there's no way to recover the songsy beyond this strange limit.I hope you guys fix this soonand someone can reproduce this. Best regards! system:OS X 10.10.4Spotify 1.0.9.133.gcedaee38
Hi there and welcome to the community,
That's weird...
Could you try doing a full reinstallation of the app, including removing your local cache/data files. -
I have over 4000 songs in my Itunes library. I have 25-30 playlists set up. I just did a sync on my daugthers itouch and 85% of my playlists dissappeared. i rebooted my pc....playlists are still not there. The songs are still in my library. Very strange. Any Advice appreciated
Thanks, Michael. Itunes Match is not enabled on my daughter's Itouch. I have subscribed to it and have used the service to back up my song purchases. I merely did a sync via USB (as normal) to her Itouch. The sync wiped out 85% of the playlists that were on my home computer for the last seveal years. I have updated her itouch multiple times - both before and after I had subscribed to iTunes Match. After the last sync to her iTouch, the playlists just disappeared. My home computer is the main device I use to manage my Itunes library and my playlists. I am not sure what happened?
BTW - how are you affiliated with Apple? Are you? I feel like I have explained the issue pretty clearly, but your responses seem to focus on her iTouch and not my computer, where the playlists are managed. I want to know how to get the playlists back on my computer.
Thanks for your help. Rob -
Yosemite - MacBook Air 10.10 - "Notes" does not open - "Preview" opens, but does not display PDF's - "iCal" works in new strange ways, as if no one checked its operation - Everything worked very well until Upgrade to Yosemite ! - Happen to others?
Thanks for your lengthy reminder dude, I have a similar Mac with yours. I suspect its a software fault because it happens after I upgraded to Lion, 10.7.2.

VERY strange lag on a Dell Optiplex 760
I thought it would be a good idea to keep a 16GB flash drive on my keychain that booted Arch so I could work on HW for college in a consistent OS! Everything is working great so far, but I ran into a very strange problem with a Dell Optiplex 760. During the normal Arch init process, everything loads great, except for when it gets to the udev stage where everything hangs. But here's the strange part of this scenario: the problems go away when I start typing random keys or move the mouse! If I don't do this, the system hangs completely from what I can tell. This happens at the console and with X.
The service tag for this machine is FDCQQJ1, and the dell.com driver area brings up this list of hardware and (windows) drivers for it.
Here's the #lspci -vv of the system:

A Very Strange Post Update Problem
Hi guys, new to the forum here, wondering if I could get some help with a most disturbing problem...
Off the bat, I use a ppc Mac G5 running 10.4.11. I use this for Music production, and general music listening in my studio. For Audio I use pro tools HD 7.3 (as well as logic 8), with a digidesign 192 IO interface, and run most ofmy audio thru that. Now that we have that out the way... I normally dont agree to updates, as I would not like to upset a balance thats been working perfectly for me for some time, but 2 days ago, one of my assistants was using the computer and agreed to the latest update for Itunes, quicktime, and logic (but not the security update). Immedietly after the update finished (during which he said the quicktime update crashed), the system started going haywire, pro tools was shutting down, itunes wouldn't open, the like... Well after uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and quicktime, all order was restored, except for one AWFUL problem.. the sound coming out of any program BESIDES pro tools (itunes, logic, toast) is very strange, as if its coming thru very cheap speakers. I've run itunes through both the digi interface and the standard sound card (it has the same problem), and checked the EQ settings (flat), my sample and bit rates are straight... I have no idea! if anyone could offer some insight, It would be much appreciated! Thanks!!HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
It's possible there's an underlying problem with your hard drive.
Insert the installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
Also, make sure you have sufficient drive space. Control or right click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Click "Get Info". Under the General tab you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is at least 10% available disk space, 15% is better.
If the drive appears to be ok and you have enough available disk space, you could try the 10.4.11 combo update available here. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
Make sure and run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions BEFORE and AFTER the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Song order in itunes doesnt match my iphone
ok so i just recently got an iphone and normally im pretty good with figuring out these things, but im having trouble with my music. I like to have the songs in a playlist in a specific order (date added) and thats how i listen to most of my songs when im not on shuffle. But when i sync my iphone it changes the order of the songs in the playlists and i have no idea why or how to fix it. The playlists are sorted fine in itunes and with my itouch the playlists would just replicate that of which are in itunes but for some reason the playlists are fine but the songs are out of order. If somebody could give me any help or advice itd be greatly appreciated.
CROCK3317, I'm having the same issue that you are; some playlists are ordered correctly while others aren't. And the really strange thing is when I connect the iPhone to my Mac and view my iPhone playlists through iTunes, the songs within display in the proper order! It is just that they don't on my iPhone, for some playlists. This is very strange and it is disheartening that no one has responded to your initial post, 3 months ago! I tried removing all the music from my iPhone and reloading. But this did nothing. Same problems with the same playlists. Help!

N9 Music player - wrong song order
Hello,
I have issues with the music player. I always copy my music to N9 with Nokia Link, and all my mp3 files are tagged by me, including details like song title, album, artist, song number. I am very meticulous about it
The player, however does not start the album with song number 1. It tends mess up the song order of my albums.
Help, anybody had similar issues?Try using Nokia Music Player, It recognises the N9 and works great with no problems and is alot easier when dealing with your music (editing info, playlists etc.), compared to Nokia Link

Song order in playlists gets lost when I sync my Zen To
Weird problem here...when I create a playlist in the Creative software on my computer (what is it called, MediaSource or something?), I drag the songs into the order I want them played. However, when I sync to my Zen Touch, the **bleep** thing plays them in alphabetical order according to artists' names. I can't get playlists on my Zen Touch to play in the order I desire. Any thoughts?
TIA!Be warned that Notmad works in a very different way to MediaSource as it has no concept of a PC Music Library. Basically it works by drag 'n drop of files onto a device within Windows Explorer, but it's on device management functions are great, along with playlist sorting and randomising. Also you can drag and drop playlist files e.g. M3U, and it will convert to a playlist and not copy the files (assuming the files are already present on the player with the same tag data).

[Mysql-Connector] A very strange problem !
Hi everybody!
Ready to hear a strange story ?
I have a weird problem to use the MySQL-connector under Linux (Debian).
I have no problem in windows XP, all is working fine !
But under Linux when I try to connect to mysql throught mysql-connector wrote in a Servlet I have this message :
Message: Invalid authorization specification message from server: "Access denied for user 'root'@'monkinetwork' (using password: YES)"
SQLState: 28000
ErrorCode: 1045 Here the software I'm using :
Tomcat 5.0.28
MySQL-Connector version is : mysql-connector-java-3.0.15-ga-bin.jar
JDK Version : 1_5_0_01. Servlet-Examples and JSP works fine! So I don't think the problem come from JDK.
MySQL version : MySQL-SERVER-4.1.9-2 : All is working under console mode !
Here's My Servlet TESt1.java:
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import java.sql.*;
import java.sql.DriverManager;
public class TEST1 extends HttpServlet {
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
response.setContentType("text/html");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/HeroDB";
String user = "root";
String password = "password";
try{
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
out.println("<br> DRIVERS JDBC : OK!");
Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url,user,password);
out.println("<br> Database connection : OK!");
catch (ClassNotFoundException e)
out.println("Error with JDBC Drivers !");
catch(SQLException ex) {
out.println("<br> ERROR MESSAGE <br>");
while (ex != null) {
out.println("<br>Message: " + ex.getMessage ());
out.println("<br>SQLState: " + ex.getSQLState ());
out.println("<br>ErrorCode: " + ex.getErrorCode ());
ex = ex.getNextException();
out.println("");
AND THE HTML PAGE in order to access to the Servlet :
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>DataBase Test</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY BGCOLOR="#FDF5E6">
<H2 ALIGN="CENTER">DataBase TEST</H2>
<FORM ACTION="http://localhost:8080/TEST1">
<CENTER>
<INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE = "CONNEXION TEST">
</CENTER>
</FORM>
</BODY>
</HTML>
Theses codes works very well under windows, but under linux system here what I've got :
DRIVERS JDBC : OK!
ERROR MESSAGE
Message: Invalid authorization specification message from server: "Access denied for user 'root'@'monkinetwork' (using password: YES)"
SQLState: 28000
ErrorCode: 1045 Well, the web.xml file is well configured.
Anyway : I already tried with class: org.gjt.mm.mysql.driver, but I have the same message error !
By the way, it's very strange that I can play with MySQL under the terminal but not throught tomcat.
Any suggestions please , because it's giving me a very hard time ! ?
Thank you !

Computer is acting very strange. Please help.
My computer has starter acting very strange. It has start to take ages to boot up, and it runs a progress bar on the grey apple screen (as if its was booting in safe mode, but its not). I cant seem to save any files with any Apps. When I try to save documents in office it tells me ether the file name or path doesn't exist, it is open by another program, or its read only. Office also keeps coming up with errors saying im out of memory. Other apps just come up with errors when I try and save files.
The last thing I did before my computer started acting up, was to increase the size of a Windows partition. Using Winclone I copied my Windows OS, then added the partition back to my mac, and re-partitioned it to a larger size. I formatted it into NTFS using Tuxera, and then used Winclone to put Windows back on. Everything seemed to go smoothly, and the Windows OS is fine.
Please Help!Yes, iRadu is correct.
If Disk Utility can't fix it, you'll need a more robust utility for the repair. I would recommend DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy.
Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand.
DW is the only utility I would recommend to repair +Keys out of order+. It's a pretty serious error.
Do you have a good backup...one with no issues?

p.s. Here's a rewiew of DiskWarrior 4. -
I have a very strange problem with Arch. I know the title isn't very descriptive, but i don't have a quick, short way to say this:
I love Arch. I use it as a "secondary OS" and other than the times when i'm playing with other distros to see how they've changed, i'm in Arch on my devel system and a few others....However, i still use Debian (Testing) as my desktop/laptop/primary PC OS. For the longest time (probably well over a year), i could not figure out why i could not bring myself to use Arch as my primary OS.
About 2 days ago, i finally had a epiphany (Well...someone smacked me with a CD-R containing the source for the Epiphany Browser, but that's besides the point). The reason i can't use Arch as a primary desktop is because in Arch, i'm too tempted to play with stuff, play with new apps, break stuff, etc and like most people (probably), on my main Desktop, i want stuff to work...I don't want to be breaking things on a weekly basis.
I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or if people could give me some advice as to how to get over it or something.string wrote:
Maybe someone somewhere should create some sort of "Arch Linux updaters anonymous". "Hi, my name is jdhore and I update my system daily" (others reply:) "Hi jdhore..".
All joking aside, come on, admit it, you don't actually have a problem, you just wanted some Arch Linux community love -- nothing wrong with that, mind you -- it's why I'm here too. "I'm afraid to buy a car because I might be tempted to drive it off a cliff." .. you'd have to have some *serious* problems in order for stuff like that to be credible.
Don't want to break stuff: then don't. Just keep telling yourself that the cake is a lie.
dude...That's exactly why i don't have a car... -
Very strange problem w/ iTunes PC
Well, I have a very strange problem - I added some music to my iTunes and when I was changing the informations and cover, my iTunes crashed. When I restarted the program, the album is missing and when I found it on my hard drive, I am not able to import it back to the iTunes. This happens with both Import from the menu and the classic Drag/Drop method. So what to do? Is there any way to get it back?
EDIT: Tried to move the files to another folder. Didn't work though.I just found the problem lies with iTunes 7.0.
I ran the sames songs (ones with problem) into iTunes 4.7.1, with MSN messenger (same version)'s song display selected.....the song title/artist displayed and it did not get kicked out!!!!
If it's not my 80gig iPod.......I would not have gotten iTunes 7.0!!!!!!! -
Very strange boot/device behaviour- please help!
hello!
i was quite happy with my macbook pro, when it one day did not boot anymore. i just saw the black screen and no startup sound was heard. i tried several times to restart, but no result. i gave up for some hours and when i came back it worked again.
i thought it might have been the humidity as sunnier days came their way and my macbook worked without any problem.
however, one month later i´m confronted again with this boot issue. so after the mbp has been turned off, i have to wait 30 minutes in order to be able to restart. if not, it gets stuck with the black screen.
i went trough the troubleshooting tips (SMC reset, PRam reset) and even made an archive and install. unfortunately without any result.
to make things worse my audio stopped to work also. first it did not even show up the devices -" no input/output devices found", after the archive and install the devices were found, but still no sound (except the startupsound)...
...i really do not have any clue what might be the problem, but as i am currently far from home and far from any apple support center, i would very much appreciate every hint or solution.
tnx

macbook pro 2,33 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.9)hello again!
it's very strange indeed. my macbook was working without any problems again for 2 days. then i was playing music on itunes when the screen went black(please restart), i could hear some scratchy noises before. again i could not restart. after 30 attempts the computer booted and everything worked except the audio, it said "no output devices found". i noticed that after some hours of rest my computer returns to full funcionality. as i said, i have no means to bring my computer to an apple store. maybe someone can give me an indication of what might be wrong. here is the panic.log:
