Song Start Time?

I accidentally hit something while working on a song and now when I hit play, the track does not start on bar 1 beat 1. About a half of second goes by before the song starts because it starts before 1 1 1 1. Does anybody know how I could reset it to start on bar 1 beat 1 without time before?
Thanks.

Make sure this inconspicuous halfhidden square is at 1 1 1 1.

  • Major Song Start Time Issue

I bought a new song, and changed the start time to 1:08 seconds in because I don't like that part. However, after syncing to my ipod, if I play any other song it will start at 0:00, and then if I play the song with the adjusted start time it will start at 1:08, like it should. Now if I go back to the song I had played just before it, the start time of that song which should be 0:00 is 1:08. Which is obviously a huge problem. Now, this problem only happens if you start a new song while playing another song, once a song ends the problem is fixed. But you can go through multiple songs in a row which the start time should be 0:00 and they will all start at 1:08, after playing the one song with the adjusted start time.
I've also been able to recreate this problem multiple times, and I cannot find a fix for it.

I have the EXACT same problem. I called Apple support and they were absolutely useless. They just told me to ignore it and reset the start time of the problematic song back to 0:00. Which is totally beside the point. I'm going to try to make an appointment in person at the Apple store so they see what I'm talking about and precisely how annoying it is. Hopefully, they can diagnose the problem. Best of luck to all of you!

  • Song start time/end time

I have previously been able to modify where a song starts or ends by changing the start/end time somehow. I cannot figure out how I did this. Does anyone know how you can do this? Thanks

    Hey there,
To change when a song starts and ends locate and highlight the song in iTunes. From there, right->click the song and choose "Get Info" from the Menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Options tab and in the middle of the window there are options to adjust the starting and ending times for that song or songs. When you are satisfied, go ahead and hit OK to apply the changes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Song start time/end time settings not being implemented on iPod

I'm able to modify my start/stop time settings for my songs in iTunes. The problem is that, when I sync, the settings don't transfer over to my iPod - when I play the songs there, that just start and stop at their regular unadjusted times. I have a 5th Generation iPod with video.
    Thanks!

  • Song "Start Time" selection affecting other songs?

There is one (1) song that I set using iTunes to start playing at 0:16.  However, after I disconnected my iPod from my computer and started listening to a different song, it also started playing at 0:16.  I tried this with all of my songs with the same result.  Note: it only starts playing at 0:16 if I specifically select a song to play; if the song changes after it ends or if I press the next button the next song will start at 0:00 (unless it happens to be the song that I actually set to start at 0:16).
What can I do?  I am using an iPod touch 3rd Gen 8gig.  Both the iPod and iTunes have the lastest update (as of August 10, 2011).

  • How can I get a start-time modified song to play with the modification on my ipad2? The sync shows the modification.

I shortened a song in my PC iTunes music library by using "get info" options and start time. The change shows up in my PC iTunes library for the song and after syncing, in my ipad2 music library when hooked up via USB. The song plays at original length on my ipad2. Weirdly enough, after syncing with my iPod, the song plays at the shortened length on the iPod. A previous sync with the ipad2 sent the shortened version to the iPad with no problems. The next time I synced, and 50 times later, all I got was the long version. It's a trivial matter but I need the song for a slide show presentation at a high school and the first few seconds of the song feature an expletive that I obviously can't use. Help! This is maddening.

  • If I have manually set "Start Time" and "Stop Time" for songs, and my hard drive is backed up in Time Machine, when files/songs are transferred on new hard drive, will my "Start Time" "Stop Time" options be there?

My Macbook Pro will be going in for reimaging and my hard drive will be wiped, I want to know if all my iTunes preferences will be copied if I have backed them up on Time Machine. Specifically, if I have set certain "Start Time" and "Stop Time" for my songs, and I copy my iTunes library, will these "Start Time" and "Stop Time" options remain or will I have to manually set them one by one once again? I need a reply ASAP! Thanks so much!

As far as I'm aware the start & stop times are stored in the library database, not the media files. If you backup/restore/transfer the whole library then the settings are included. If you create a complete copy of your iTunes folder on another drive you can connect to that copy by holding down option/alt as you start iTunes so you can check that everything is working properly before you send the Macbook away.

  • Modified start time for songs overlaps on to other songs

If I change the start time of a song in itunes, and I listen to the song on suffle with an ipod touch, other songs that I shuffle start with that same modified start time as the original song.
    That is,
Say I have a song, "Great Song" by "Cool dudes"
and another song "Terrible Song" by "Get this off your iPod"
And I set the start time for Great Song to be 0m 42s.  If I have my iPod touch on shuffle and this song is picked, it starts at 0:42.  If I change the song before this song finishes and Terrible Song is picked, it will also start at 0m 42s, despite me never changing its start time.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi Alonzo,
In the UK, you currently should be in GMT with Daylight Saving on. You'll need to correct the time on the phone (by moving it back one hour in Settings > Time & date > Time) when you have done this.
After this you'll need go into iSync, select your phone and from the Devices menu select Reset Device to re-populate the phone with the correct data.

  • "Start" time for songs

Hi everyone, within iTunes, you're given the ability to actually set the start time for a song, in my case, this would allow me to cut out the intro... My question is this, when I do set the time for a song, it works fine within iTunes, but it does not carry over to my iPod... is there a way of setting this?

I believe it should work on iPods. It seems to work just fine on my 5th generation iPod. Perhaps time to perform a Restore on the iPod to make sure it is in a good state of repair and resync your library?
Alternatively you can create a copy of the track from the original that has the start time specified. This will make a copy trimmed down to only the parts between the start/stop times. Then sync that version to the iPod.

  • Editing the start times of various songs on one playlist only?

I play music at the rink between puck drops and periods for my daughters hockey team. I usually only get between 10 and 20 seconds of music between the on ice action. I have my desired start times listed on my playlist printouts, but it is a pain in the butt to have to pause the song, slide it to the desired start time, and then unpause! It is too slow of a process.
I know that I can right click on the song, go to "GET INFO" and adjust the start/stop time in options. But I only want to have this new start time in my hockey playlists, and not permanently in my itunes library. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can't be done the way you want. A playlist is just a list of tracks. Start/finish times belong to the track whichever way you use to access them. What you could is set the desired start & finish times for these tracks and then (depending on your choice of import settings) use the *Create AAC/MP3 version* to make copies of just these sections of music. This would create a set of duplicate tracks just for this purpose that start exactly where you want them to.

  • Delay start time of song

I have a track in itunes that I want to delay the start of. I would like to start it 18 seconds in to avoid the intro, every time it plays as part of a playlist or otherwise.
I went to Info and checked the box that says Start Time and I made it :19.
But when I play the song, it plays it from the beginning anyway. What's up with that?
I am using version 10.6.3.25 because I want to keep the Cover Flow option and the program works fine for me. (Increasingly I find that new versions of programs just add crap I don't want or need and take away features I like).
Thanks for your help resolving this issue.

Well, thanks for all the replies but I figured it out for myself.
Actually the setting of in and out points in Options in itunes apparently does not work for some long mp3's, or at least doesn't work correctly.
I had to mess around with it to get it to work, putting in different values for seconds and minutes than what logic would dictate. I got it to work, though not at the exact in and out times I wanted.
Thanks again for all the help!

Assuming the phone isn't jailbroken, the basic steps (as needed) are:
Restart phone (you already did this)
    Reset phone
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup
See appendix B of the User Guide for details
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPhone_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf
If your phone is jailbroken, this is the most frequent cause of the problems you described.  Restoring could permanently brick the phone.
Note that your iOS is old and the current version is 4.2.8.  It's odd that it wasn't updated when your activated your phone in iTunes, being that you got it last Friday.

Used ipod as a drive to copy songs into new itunes on new computer. Some songs do play in entirety, last 30 seconds to minute cuts off with nothing plyaing, or it suddenly starts playing a different song. "TIme" shown is correct in the file. Any way to fix this?

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • Getting audio dropouts when a song starts playing.....but not all the time

I have a 80GB Ipod. Use it mostly in my truck/car (have a IPOD interface in each). Usually use the shuffle mode for playing songs. It seems that as of a couple days ago I will get a audio drop out right after a song starts playing (one or two seconds into the song). Only lasts for a second or so but it does not happen on every song....there has not been a pattern that I can see (not every other song ot every thitrd song....just random..........) But it is always in the same place in the song......always one or two seconds after the song starts playing. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thanks
