Song Syncing problem

I just recently purchased a new laptop, in which I installed itunes and loaded some music from my cds.
However, My iPod was saved with songs from my old computer, and I am hesistant to connect it because I don't know for sure if itunes will erase the songs on my ipod before syncing the new songs.
Is there a way to take the older songs from the ipod and move it to my new computer? I would certainly hate to lose all my songs on my iPod...uploading them all over again would be a pain.
Please help.

Is there a way to take the older songs from the ipod and move it to my new computer?
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.

  • IPod Nano song syncing problem

I have 2 ipod nanos (5th and 3rd gen) and I have noticed some of the songs will not play ( they show up on the ipod though) but they work fine on itunes. everything is up to date, the songs are checked and it's not anything obvious. I have tried resetting are restoring the ipods but no luck. I have noticed all the songs that won't play have ID3 tags- v2.3 and LAME3.98. i know very little of what that means so can some help me understand how i can get these songs working again. I'm almost positive that the Id3 and lame are the reason though.

Doese anyone know how could it work?

  • Ipod syncing problems...?

Im having several ipod syncing problems. I have an Ipod touch, 4th gen with the standard USB cable that comes with to charge it and sync it with. Today, i plugged it into my computer like normal to sync some new songs onto it from itunes. But, it started acting up. First, it kept syncing on and off, and the sync sound wouldnt stop- it wouldnt stay synced. then, later, when it finally did, not long after it said "this device does not support charging," and itunes didnt recognize my ipod anymore, so i couldnt sync my songs. is there any way i can fix this? thanks in advance.

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Sync problem - earlier today I updated both iTunes and my iPod Touch. Since then, I have tried syncing the two. The iPod Touch claims that there is no music on the iPod, however, when I connect it to my computer it says my full library is on there. At present, I am unable to listen to songs on the iPod when not connected to the computer. What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks for any help!

    - Have you reset your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next would be to backup your iPod and then restore you iPod from backup via iTunes.

  • 2014 Sync problems on iPod classic / Please help!! 2014

    Hello community!
I really need some help with this problem I am having... I have done some research for the past few days on my own but nothing I have found has helped.
First some specs on my device...
iPod Classic: 80 GB (I believe this is iPod with video, assumed on the fact that it supports movie syncs)
iPod software version: 1.1.2 (up to date according to iTunes)
    Formatted for Windows
Syncing to Dell Inspiron with Windows 7
iTunes updated to current version (11.4)
I had much mof my music library uploaded onto my iPod for quite sometime. (close to 14,000 songs synced at 192 kbps) I often like to put my iPod on shuffle and just listen to whatever comes on, but here and there I will skip songs until something I am in the mood for comes on... I began to notice that my iPod was freezing (ON THE DISPLAY ONLY!!! Playback through speakers continued) when I would skip through songs... Once the screen dimmed however, I could once again skip to the next song. I figured this was a problem concerning corrupted files or something similar. These are the steps I took..
1.) Updated iTunes to version 11.4 and checked for further updates
2.) ATTEMPTED to check disk within Windows (was unsuccessful and heard the iPod making a lot of 'clicking' noises from within the casing)
3.) Performed an iPod restore within iTunes
4.) Performed a check disk within Windows and recovered any bad sectors (SUCCESSFUL)
5.) Selected 'Music' sync and the option for 'Entire music library'
    6.) UNCHECKED 'Include music videos'
7.) Reconfigured settings as they were before and made slight changes..
a.) Checked 'Open iTunes when this iPod is connected'
b.) Checked 'Sync only checked songs and videos'
c.) Checked 'Convert higher bit rate songs to '192 kbps' AAC'
d.) Unchecked 'Manually manage music and videos'
         e.) Unchecked 'Enable disk use'
8.) Began a sync on my iPod... With well over 10,000 songs I knew this was going to be a lengthy process.. I left computer unattended..
When I returned to my computer, iTunes was unresponsive... The only way I could get iTunes to show was to minimize a Window on top of iTunes. iTunes states 'Syncing iPod... Do not disconnect' but does not show a rolling progress bar.. I cannot cancel sync, I cannot eject iPod, I cannot close iTunes...
I attempt to eject iPod device through windows, UNSUCCESSFUL (Cannot unmount generic volume while the device is in use)
I 'Ctrl+Alt+Dlt' to Task Manager and End Program 'iTunes' UNSUCCESSFUL..
I End Process 'iTunes.exe *32' and eject iPod through Windows SUCCESSFUL
When the iPod displayed 'OK to disconnect with load bar, I disconnected the device.
As soon as this bar was full iPod IMMEDIATELY rebooted completely and powered back up with only 20 songs synced. (Frustration ensues)
Confused and thinking maybe my screen saver caused an interruption during the sync, I changed screen saver and power saving options to eliminate any possible interruption, REPEATED STEPS 3-8 ABOVE, and started sync again.. Left computer unattended
Again, coming back to computer much later, iTunes was in the same unresponsive state. Closed iTunes and began looking for answers on the internet. Any and all answers I found stated I should restore iPod, update iTunes, run diagnostics tests, etc., etc...
All of which I had done EXCEPT for running a diagnostics test..
Running a diagnostics test: I ran only the tests concerned with 'Device Connectivity' and 'Device sync' tests.. Here are the very interesting results I yielded from these tests...
    Device Connectivity Test:
    Support services:
'iPod support service is running.' Status: GREEN
'iTunes Helper is running.' Status: GREEN
'Apple Mobile Device is running.' Status: GREEN
    Ports:
         'USB ports verified.' Status: GREEN
'No FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports found.' Status: GREEN
         'iPod found.' Status GREEN
    ALL TESTS PASSED
    Device Sync Tests
    Results:
No iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad found. Status: RED
    ONE OR MORE TESTS FAILED
I am at a loss, I realize that Apple has discontinued the iPod Classic but does that mean iTunes will no longer support these devices!?
And if ANYONE has ANY suggestions for possible steps I can take to regain syncing privileges to my iPod once again, please let me know!
Also, I have diagnostics test results saved on my desktop and available to post if required!
Thank you for any and all help!
    -Chris

    !UPDATE!
I made several adjustments to my sync options and made some progress and am now trying to sync in 'stages' as I like to think of them.
    Here is what I did:
1.) Under 'Music' tab in 'My iPod' options I opted to sync 'Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres'
2.) Selected a small portion of tunes I know I want on my iPod (ended up being close to 3,500 songs.
3.) Under 'Summary' tab I unchecked the 'Sync only checked songs and videos' box
4.) Unchecked 'Convert higher bit rate songs to ___ AAC'
    5.) Checked 'Enable disk use'
    6.) Ran a SUCCESSFUL sync!
I am now running a sync keeping the same adjustments in place and have added 6,556 songs. (SYNC IN PROGRESS)
I am wondering if trying to convert that many songs to a lower bit rate is causing sync problems and it appears as if I am at least making progress on this. HOWEVER, I really prefer to decrease the bit rate on my songs so I may fit more on my iPod... Usually most of the files I have in iTunes are at 320 kbps with a select few at 192 kbps. I would like to make everything the way it was before my first iPod restore.. 192 kbps, but this also seems to be the cause of the sync problems I am having? Anyone else have a comment on this?
    Thanks again
    -Chris

  • Itunes 10.2.2.12 - All Itunes 10 Version Sync problems

I am using Windows XP PC latest service pack, I have  a newer 5th Gen 16GB Ipod Nano, I now have the latest Itunes 10.2.2.12. Every since I have had this newer Ipod Nano, and with first version of Itunes 10, nothing but syncing problems. After calling  Apple Ipod Tech Support, and scouring Apple Help screens and forums, just like Apple Tech Support reps, the recommendation is mostly the same, they have me go through the grueling, time consuming process of Uninstalling and Re-installing Itunes, which I have done many times, sometimes it would help in syncing, many times not. Also tried other Apple support recommendation tricks with Apple Mobile Device too, and even upgraded to a Higher speed USB Port, again it would sync for a while and then eventually would start having same sync problems again, even after updating to the latest Itunes. Errors: Itunes is Unable to locate Ipod attached, or The required folder cannot be found.
When exactly will Apple tech Support put out a New Fully Stable Itunes Version to correct and remove these problems that occur over and  over again, with so many Ipod users online?? I am getting so frustrated, that I am looking for Itunes and even Ipod better alternatives to avoid these big time consuming headaches. Anybody have a Full solution, or at least somewhat permanent Solution to these Ipod sync Errors?? Thanks for your time.

well i'm running iTunes same vsn on a brand new iMac i7 2.93GHz and i'm constantly having to wait while the old beach ball of death appears. it usually only halts normal operation for 15 to 40secs but thats ridiculous enough. i've got 16Gb of DRAM and even with no other apps running this happens - and it happens about every 3 mins or so. crazy.
    9037 songs in the library.
i guess this is better than iPhoto 9 which crashed and refuses to boot full stop, in spite of several re-instals.
and i thought the new world of apple was gonna be rosy. hmmmm.

  • New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

So, if you select one of these songs on the iPods screen, and try to play it, what happens?  The iPod does nothing?  It skips to the next song?
It's possible you will have to do a Restore on the iPod, if there is data corruption on the iPod causing this problem.  The Restore erases the iPod, and removes any corruption.
NOTE:  There may be a hardware problem, such as the iPod's hard drive becoming unreliable, that is causing this problem and data issues.  It may continue to operate as long as its data stays mostly unchanged, but if you do a Restore to update the hard drive's data in a major way, it is possible that the Restore will fail and leave the iPod non-operable.

  • ITunes on Windows 8 Syncing Problems Solved!

NOTE: I have only had this problem on Windows 8, not Windows 7, so if you're having trouble on Windows 7, this might not help you.
If you are experiencing the issue where your device never fully syncs, disconnects halfway through, freezes after "waiting for changes to be applied," then I believe this solution will help you.
    Follow these steps:
    1) Locate your iTunes.exe file. This can be found by the following path: Start--> All Apps (little arrow that appears on bottom left of screen when you mouse over it) -->This PC (on the far right) --> whatever drive you installed iTunes on (if you are not sure, it is the C drive by default) --> Program Files (x86) --> iTunes --> in this folder you will see a file labeled "iTunes.exe" or just "iTunes" make sure you're NOT on the "iTunesHelper" icon for the next step.
    2) Right-click on the file and hit "Properties"
    3) Click the tab labeled "Compatibility"
    4) Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    5) Click the drop-down menu just underneath that check box and choose "Windows 7"
    6) Now check the box labeled "Run this program as an administrator
    7) Click "Apply"
    8) Click "Ok"
    9) All done! Now try syncing whatever device was giving you trouble and it should work. My iPhone had to sync about 3000 songs and it failed about halfway through, but all I had to do was restart the sync and it finished the remaining 1500 or so.
Just thought I should offer this tip for those of you running Windows 8 and having syncing problems .

Yes that is a standard fix:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Syncing problems won't go away

I have an annoying problem with my new computer. Whenever I want to add songs that I purchased from itunes to my ipod and connect it to my laptop, it requests I choose to erase and sync or to add my ipod songs to my library, either way it's a disaster. And it goes through all of my 700 songs just to add my few purchased ones. Which still doesn't always work. Trying to upload cd songs onto my ipod is a nightmare too.
I am sick of this, I have been dealing with missing music (My library is totally empty) and this syncing problem from the moment I got this laptop.
    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been trying to syncronize my Ipod with some new music uploaded into itunes and it keeps prompting me with the same message "attempting to copy to the disk "VICTOR JAV" failed. An unknown error occurred (-69).
Is there something else that i need to do? I tried to restore the company settings but its not working either. Could you please provide me with a solution since it is kind of frustrating.
On the other hand, How can i upload movies into my iPod? never been able to do this.

  • Sync Problem when installing two Apple TV's in the same house

When I installed a second Apple TV, many of my ITUNES purchases, movies and songs, would not sync and I received the alert sign in Intunes AppleTV Icon to indicate the sync problem.
To fix, simply go to store authorize computer EVEN IF THE COMPUTER IS ALREADY AUTHORIZED and, like magic, problem is instantly fixed.

I have two ATV G2 and one ATV G1 at home with the same iTunes library. I have played two different movies in the ATVs. One interesting thing you get is that you can start one movie and pause it and then you can continue playing it in the other ATV. The iTunes controls where you pause or stop the movie.
Agree that bandwidth is the limit here and probably the server throughput. But, so far I haven't experienced any problem.

  • Syncing Problem... Help please!

I have more music on my computer than can fit on my iPod, so of course I made a playlist to fit all of the songs, the problem now is that I've added songs to the playlist, removed others, and it's under the limit of the iPods capacity, yet it still wont sync.
This is a bit annoying seeing as how I have almost 3 gigs free, and I can't fill the iPod completely, not to mention it's not REALLY 30 gigs, its 27.86, which is 2 gigs off.(a different point entirely)
When I try to update it, it tells me the playlist is too large, and cannot be synced. I would REALLY like to add it, and it's just getting downright annoying.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

The other problem is, its only 22 gigs of music, and it STILL says I dont have enough room, I dont even have my movies on there anymore, freaking weird!

  • IPod Classic Sync Problem - iTunes 11

I was having issues with syncing my iPod today. Multiple problems led to me having to uninstall iTunes on my PC and I also had to restore the iPod a couple of times. Once all was said and done, I could not sync my music to the iPod. It usually automatically synced when plugged in, but since the restore and reinstall, nothing happened. Even clicking sync with my iPod pllugged in didn't work.
SOLUTION (with the help of Apple tech support):
    1) Connect iPod to computer (make sure iTunes is running).
    2) Click on iPod name (mine is called Owner's iPod).
    3) At the top of the screen, next to "Summary", click on "Music".
    4) To the left of "Sync Music" there is a little box. There should be a check in it. If not, put a check there.
    5) The number of songs ready to be synced should appear.
    6) In the lower right hand corner, click on "Apply".
I saw in another forum information that I needed to find the box to select to sync songs, but the information was a few years old and I couldn't find it according to the directions. This should work for those with ver. 11.
If anyone else has sync problems and you HAVE A SOLUTION please share it here. Thanks!

    Hi black3793,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be both frustrating and concerning when iTunes becomes unresponsive when you connect your iPod. In your situation I would start by isolating iTunes by uninstalling it and all of its components in the correct order and installing fresh. Please follow the steps in the attached article for removing iTunes and its components.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Automatic (intelligent) Playlist Sync Problems

    Hi,
I am using iPhone 4S running on iOS 8.2 and Itunes for Windows 12.1.1.4 and I have got problem with a special playlist.
I have defined a playlist like this:
Track, which have not been played for more than 2 year
    and
have got rating for more than 3 stars and genre is not like pop.
The playlist is working on itunes fine and selects files according to definition. If I play a song on iTunes this sone will be removed from this list on iTunes. This works perfect.
iTunes even syncs this ist to my iPhone without any mistake.
When I play one song on my iPhone from this list the playlist recognizes that I have played this song and is reducing the amount of songs after playing each song. At least I have heard all songs and now my problem is starting.
iTunes does not recognize that I have played these songs on my iPhone and does not update the playlist at iTunes for the on the iPhone played songs.
It seems that there is a sync problem from iOS 8.2 to iTunes 12.1.1.4
Does anybody have got any idea how to fix this problem?
    Any help would be appriciated.
    CU
    Christian

You can make a playlist of your own and set the option yourself. Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put the size of the playlist you want to sync in the number box, choose "MB" or "GB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Sync problem and unusual amount of "Other" in memory usage

I have an iPod touch with 8.1.2 installed.
I will begin by the sync problems I was experiencing two days ago. First, some songs I tried to manually add were greyed out in the list. Then the sync got stuck at "Waiting for chagnes to apply". Then, all the songs in the iPod seemingly got corrupted. After some restores, the memory usage bar showed DOUBLE the amount of memory used, and half of that was "Other". 48 GB of "Other".
After restoring a copy from the day before, and then installing 8.1.2 (I had 8.1.1) the iPod seemed to sync right. Then, I noticed two things. First, many songs and albums didn't had the artwork. Second, many songs were missing. (I should say that I manually manage the music in my iPod). Today, I started manually adding songs and albums. After syncing many album covers were still missing. Then, after adding some abums, almost 10GB of "Other" appeared on the usage bar.
I would like to know how to solve this issue.

Restore the iPod since you have to remove the corruption and also:
stuck on waiting for changes to be applied

  • Audio midi Sync problem

    hello:
I was doing a session a couple of days ago and a friend of mine bought in several logic 7 projects. The first project was absolutely fine. However the second project seemed to have major syncing problems. The first thing we noticed was wrong was that the midi click seemed to be speeding up against the drum tacks. When i tried to add a bass track certain parts of the take were significantly behind whist others seemed OK. After about 4 takes i realized it wasn't my playing but some weird delay going on!
I tend to use a midi click rather than the internal logic one (because it sounds better) but when put them both on together there was some definite flamming going on.
I thought the mac might be freaking out but when i put the system performance up everything was running fine...
I'm sure this is an issue with a setting with in logic because the first project ok. I exported the drum tracks into a new project and the problem seemed to resolve its self.
I tried to ring the old importers of logic but i have now found they have changed free logic support to apple care. Apple want £144 before the can even consider helping! so any help anyone has would be most appreciated..
    Thanks
    JAMES

.... well apple thinks you are an idiot.. and idiots have to pay.. for an service!! You are hot in getting information .. and they THINK LOGIC makes no mistakes..
    BUT thats not RIGHT!!
Logic, in my opinon is a very good software.. but sometimes . they arent fast as her own plattform developer...
    and so LOGIC has mistakes..
    THE SYNC
i experienced always the same SONG... and sometimes my PIANO doesnt groove.. and sometimes yes...
so i tried some things.. i selected ALL regions.. in the ARRANGEMET Window.. and the TRACKS.. adio, midi... are tight..
    WHY.. __??
    i dont know..
WELL in my case i have 3 .. THREE instruments.. piano , drums and base, but what happens if you have 100 midi trakcs.. and some audio tracks
you cant hear .. what is wrong . .and what ist right..
SO i what we have to do is.. to write.. APPLE .. what is the BUG..
i think they have such a mail form _?!!
