Song titles on a burned CD

Song titles are not showing up after I burn a CD from a playlist in iTunes - how can I get them without typing them all in?

The problem is that I burned these CD's myself from music that I added from my personal collection to iTunes. The INFO is ON the CD's (it appears perfectly when I put the CD in my Numark mixer...so I know the info is on the CD), but for some reason, my MAC PRO will NOT read the info on the burned CD when I place the CD into the MAC PRO. The CD was burned on a MAC that I no longer own. But there HAS to be a way to transfer songs from a burned CD with the INFO that is on the CD burned with iTunes.
PLEASE HELP!

  • LOSE SONG TITLES WHEN I BURN CDs

Suddenly when I burn CDs from playlists, the new CD created only has track numbers and no song titles. I used to have a workaround for this problem -- instead of just highlighting the playlist and burning it, i would actually open the playlist and highlight every song -- but this no longer works!
Anybody else have this problem or know why it happens? AND MOST OF ALL... ANYBODY HAVE A SOLUTION?
    Thanks much!

CDDB is at the root of all of this. While it is a VERY comprehensive database, it is not psychic, and cannot detect the contents of a burned CD the way a DVD Player can glean movie info from a DVD. The remedy to this is right after you burn the disc, before you eject it, click Advanced on your menu bar, and choose "Submit CD Track Names". This will put the CD info for your burned disc (even custom mixes) into the back end database at CDDB. What this means to you is while the CD info may not be searchable at gracenote's CDDB website, it IS in the database, and any time you put that CD in a computer with CDDB lookup enabled (with or without ID3 Tagging) the CD will show Track Names and Artist for every song you sent in as part of that disc. I have about 1500 of my CDs in there and anywhere I go to play or rip them, the info is always available, as long as I have an internet connection. If you burn the tracks in the same order as they were on a commercially purchased version of the CD there is no need to submit the track names. CDDB will recognize it as whatever "album" it was burned from.

  • How do I get the song titles to appear when I burn a playlist from iTunes?

I burned a playlist from iTunes, and the song titles on the burned CD changed to Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. How can I get the song titles to appear as they do in iTunes? Is this really too much to ask from the world's leading music player software?

If you are burning an audio CD, you cannot as audio CDs do not have track names. Nothing to do with Apple.

  • How do I burn the disc title, and song titles onto my cd? On previous itunes, there was a "burn options" menu where you could choose to include the song info.

When I burn a cd in itunes, how do I get the song titles to be burned onto my cd. My car cd player used to display them. Previos versions of itunes had a "burning options" tab.

    Select the playlist.
File > Burn playlist to disc.
Select Audio disc and tick Include CD-TEXT.

  • Song titles, artitist names, etc., do not show up on burned CD

Can someone please tell me why when I burn a playlist onto a CD the song information does not transfer? It doesn't have song titles, artist names, etc.
    Thanks!

Original CDs from the store do not have track titles either.
iTunes looks them up on the Gracenote CD Database.
Burn the CD and make sure the info is there.
Select the CD, then menu Advanced -> Submit CD track names.
Ont he next computer, use iTUnes (or whatever program) to look up CD track names and it should retrieve them.

  • Sometimes iTunes burns CDs with song title info on them, sometimes not

When I burn a CD in iTunes, sometimes the song titles and other info seems to transfer onto the CD so that when I put it back in the disc drive the titles and artists show up on the iTunes track listing of the CD, other times it seems they don't transfer onto the CD so that when I put it back in the disc drive iTunes first tries to get the track info from theCDDB and then just lists the tracks on the CD as Track 1, Track 2, etc. Is there any way to assure iTunes consistently transfers the song titles & other info onto the CDs it burns, so that when I play those CDs in other machines that can display this info, the info is there for it to read?

iTunes recently added the option of embedding CD Text into audio CDs (although the option is disabled by default). If you’ve enabled this feature, it’s likely that your car’s CD player is reading that. I don’t believe that iTunes is enabled to get track info from CD Text. It's possible to harvest track names from CD Text on a Mac with AppleScript. I’m sure it’s possible on a PC as well, although I’m not sure how.
iTunes remembers audio CDs that you've burned and stores their track lists in your library file, so if you burn a CD, then re-insert it in your computer later, it should remember the track names. If you’ve replaced your library file, or the CD in question was burned on a different computer, then iTunes will have no record of having burned the disc, hence no track names.
    Hope that helps.

  • HT203164 Why won't the song titles transfer with the music when I burn to disc and play on another device?

Why won't the song titles transfer with the music whaen I burn to disc and play or copy to another program?

Thank you, reducing the image size worked! I had used a low res file before, and with success decided to increase the resolution/size, and then it didn't work. the image did appear in small preview in the export panel, but wouldn't burn when all was said and done. the dimensions you gave worked fine. unfortunately, it makes the image a little bit fuzzy, but i dont think i can do anything about this. at least it burned it in there. thanks!

I used to be able to print labels for burned CDs with the cover being the playlist name and the other side the song titles...now the titles print out compacted, overlapping each other and illegible. I thought it was the printer but it happened w/1 other printer as well,  which I used before for this exact thing w/no problem.

Try cleaning the print head with rubbing alcohol wipe, then replace your print head. Keep pushing the Ok.
Go to this link and HP shows you how.

  • Getting song titles to burn along with cd

i've been burning cds off my itunes forever, but i still haven't figured out how to get the song titles to transfer onto the cds that i burn.
how do i do that? the cd always comes up labeled "track 1, track 2", etc...

I guess you're talking about AudioCDs? The CDDA simply does not include track information except CD-Text.
To include CD Text may be chosen from the iTunes burning dialog - but that CD Text will work on very few standalone/Car stereos - it won't on a Mac itself.

  • TS1436 Why don't the song titles burn onto the CD

Why don't the song titles burn onto the CD

Even when you burn an audio CD with the CD Text option enabled you may well find that the CD player you use to listen to the CD doesn't support the feature, so it appears to have been unsuccessful.

  • My songs are in my iTunes library but the song titles do not show up on the songs list.

I have an older generation iPod nano, do I need to go back to an older version of iTunes so I can see the song titles on the song list? If so, does anyone have a link to the oder verson?

Does anyone know of an audio CD burner that will consistently label the original information?
Audio CDs do NOT have info except for CD-TEXT, no matter which program you use.
The Redbook audio CD standard does not allow for anything except CD-TEXT.
iTunes will write CD-TEXT but it will not read CD-TEXT.
You can burn data CDs and all the info will be retained and can be played in iTunes.

  • CD song titles do not appear

I recently burned a CD with iTunes using the "include CD text" option. However, the only iTunes where the song titles show is the computer the CD was created on. Can anyone tell me why this is the case? If this is a quirk with iTunes, I will have to create my CDs using another program.

iTunes can write CD Text, but cannot read it. You can find a list of ripping tools that will read CD Text here.
If you don't have time to read the list, here is a summary: almost all ripping tools can read CD Text except iTunes.

  • CD titles, song titles not showing up in iTunes 7

I backed up my songs purchased from iTunes and burned on iTunes 6 before I finally got iTunes 7 installed. My library appears to be in limbo, so I inserted the backup CDs to import into the iTunes 7 library. However, iTunes 7 is not reading the information. The CD title reads Audio CD, and the song titles are listed as Track 01, Track 02, Track 03, etc. My question is what do I need to do to get iTunes 7 to read the information that was burned using iTunes 7?
My computer is a Dell Dimension 3000 (not my choice) and I'm using Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2.

    Chris,
I would start with a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes. If you're still having issues, this article provides some other things you could look into to help solve your issue:

  • Check marks next to song title

i am new to itunes, what are the check marks in the gray boxes next to the song titles for, what happens if i uncheck all the songs?

The check boxes have a few uses:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs in the library, i.e. they will never play in order, only when individually clicked on.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
Optionally, unchecked songs will not be synced to an iPod.
Optionally, unchecked songs will not be added to a Smart Playlist.
