Song Version Control in iTunes Match Cloud

Singer/Songwriter loaded rough versions of mixes to cloud with iMatch; now fully mastered versions in iTunes are changing names (files remain intact, but name/info changes). How can we replace/manage the versions available in the cloud?

Hi fasking,
If you take a look at the following article, there should be an option when deleting the local file for whether or not you want to delete the copy on iCloud:
iTunes Store: How to delete songs from iCloud

To delete an item from iCloud in iTunes
From a computer with iTunes Match enabled, open iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your computer. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Click Music on the left side of iTunes.
Select the item you would like to delete. Right-click the item and then choose Delete.
You will be asked to confirm this action.
If the item you want to delete exists in iTunes on your computer as well as in iCloud, click the checkbox to also delete the item from iCloud.
It's also always a good idea to have a local backup of any files you are concerned about keeping:

  • Download all songs onto macbook from iTunes match cloud.

I just bought a macbook pro, i would like to download all my music from itunes match onto my macbook but don't want to manually select the cloud for each song. Is there an easier way to download them all?

This is not the best or most efficent way to get your music onto your new Mac. The best way is to copy all your personal content from an origional computer or backup archive. These Apple KB articles can help you:

If you insist on downloading from the cloud simply highlight all the tracks you want, right-click, and choose "download."

  • ITunes Song File Will Not Upload To iTunes Match/Cloud

I have two song files that are failing to upload. Both files play fine. I have tried creating new AAC files. I have reimported the files from the CD using error check. I have turned off iTunes match and turned it back on, I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized it. Other files on the CD imported correctly and uploaded. I have tried adding both files one at a time. One file is 6 MB and one file is 4.5 MB.
iTunes Match gets to step of uploading the file, hesitates, stops and restarts the process. Thanks for any suggestions,
    Ken

    Hi,
These are 2 song files imported from 2 CDs using iTunes as AAC MP4 files. All the other songs on the 2 CDs have uploaded to the iTunes Match cloud with no problems.
Importing one of the songs as MP3 (4.5 MB became 4.1 MB) worked. However, when I repeated the process with the second problem file, iTunes Match again fails at the upload step. Seems to be random, but your suggestion worked for one out of two.
Thanks. Can anyone think of anything else to try?

  • HT204406 I have some songs that are in Itunes Match limbo what can I do to fix it?

I am going to try not to get too wordy here, but bear with me:
I had an album which I bought from another website because itunes didnt have the artist in the itunes store. The files I received from this purchase were ALAC, about half the songs were uploaded to itunes match, while the other half were stuck on "waiting". After telling itunes to update itunes match several times via the menu I got frustrated that it wasn't uploading the "waiting" tracks, so I proceded onto a tactic I have had success with in the past. I created AAC versions of the song (I used Itunes to do this) and then removed the ALAC files from my itunes library. I then disabled itunes match and subsequently reenabled it. It now says the AAC copies cant be uploaded because they are marked as duplicates, however if I get on a device like my ipad I can't download these tracks because they have never actually been uploaded. I am unsure why itunes considers them duplicates when no other copies currently exist in itunes, or in the cloud. Does anyone know how to clear this up?

    update:
I dont know what I did specifically that worked, but I kept deleting the items from my library, and re-adding them and updating itunes match, etc... and at one point after updating itunes match instead of the duplicate Icon they showed a cloud with an x indicating they had been removed from itunes match. I right clicked on them at this point and clicked add to icloud at which point they were uploaded to itunes match and are now visible from other devices.

  • ITunes Match/Cloud on 2 machines, question

    Hello,
I put 60GB of music on my Macbook onto Itunes Match/Cloud.
I have an iMac that serves as a back up for my Macbook, and therefore it has the exact same music
When in iTunes on iMac I want to add it to Cloud but it starts scanning the music (in the iMac). So Im wondering if it will try to add the music on the iMac and therefore duplicate on the Cloud/Match what I already have there which is the same exact music on the laptop (which remember I back up on the iMac)
    Your thoughts?
    Thank you

Basically there's no need to worry that having the same song on two different computers will result in a duplication of songs in the cloud. It could happen but the circumstances are likely to be rare. If you bought the music from Apple or another online retailer (like Amazon) or if you ripped a CD and copied the ripped CD to the other computer, there's almost no chance you'll get a duplicate in the cloud.
    For the curious....
If the song on your iMac came from one source and the song on your MacBook came from another, and if they were significantly different (by whatever metrics iTunes Match uses to match songs) it is conceivable that the two might get duplicated. The good news is you can look through your library once matching is finished and if you find dupes you can selectively delete them from the cloud (and computer).

  • Can you manually load song with IOS6 and iTunes Match?

My office has zero wifi or 3g reception so I like to load several hundred songs onto my iPhone so I can listen at work. However I also like using iTunes Match when I am elsewhere. After I upgraded to iOs6 I rudely discoverd I had no songs left on the iPhone. When I tried to relaod my music iTunes told me that since I had Match enabled I could only do this wirelessly. I really don't want to d/l that much music over the wifi connection.
I turned off Match and manually loaded some music, but now when I try to enable match it tells me it's going to erase the library on my iPhone.
OK am I missing something or do I have to make a choice between Match or manually loading songs

Yes. Having iTunes Match enabled disabled traditional music syncing via USB. However, that alert is misleading as it will not actually replace the music that has been synced. It is actually just replacing the "song list."

  • Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match

Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match, they stop and go on to the next song.  Any ideas?

I too had this issue. On the Downloads screen in iTunes simply uncheck the box at the bottom left that says "Allow simultaneous downloads". Next, delete any of the affected songs from your library and then re-download them from iCloud and songs should no longer abruptly cutoff or jump to the next song.

  • My downloaded song from iTunes match "cloud" cuts into the next song half way though the song

This happens on most of my songs that are not bought on iTunes. The uploaded copies are great they play fine untill you download them to anything. Then problem i have ocurrs. The problem is that half way through a downloaded song it cuts into the next song, while still telling me that the first song is still playing.
I have tryed deleting then redownloading the song onto multiple divices like my iPhones, iPad but the song is still only plays half.
well i hope someone can help fix this it's realy is annoying

Fixed it....after searching here and seeing that there was a pretty widespread problem with that whole Kelly Clarkson album.
My song was an imported MP3 from my CD.  I deleted it from the cloud and then locally on my PC I "Created AAC version".  Then reupdated iTunes match. Now it plays fine.

  • HT4914 I have about 60,000 songs. Can I buy more space in the iTunes Match cloud?

I bought iTunes Match for my music library. I have over 60,000 songs and iTunes only allows 25,000 songs to be stored. Can I buy more space now? Will they be increasing the song limit sometime? I saw that the Amazon song cloud can keep up to 100,000 songs. I hope Apple increases their limit soon.

If you're deleting all of them, use ctrl-A to select all, then right-click and Delete.
If you want to delete a range, click the first one, scroll down and shift-click the last one. Then delete.

  • If I upgrade my iTunes version AFTER using iTunes Match, will everything still be saved (in the cloud)?

New to iTunes Match, using it in hopes of freeing up disk space.  Haven't had enough room to update iTunes to the most recent version that came out with iOS7, and now that I finally have enough space to upgrade iTunes, I'm worried my iTunes Match music will be wiped or that I'll have to start all over again.
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi,
Do make sure that you have a suitable back up before deleting tracks from your computer. Read this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112.
Updating to the latest version will not wipe itunes match music and you will not need to start all over. It is not usual for updates to cause problems but it alway good practice to maintain a back of all your music.

  • I can't download songs in IOS6 from iTunes Match on my iPod and other complaints...

    1) Since I upgraded, it takes like 15 minutes to view music from iTunes match onto my iPod, then has no "download" button like before.  Instead, when I try to play a song it just DOESN'T PLAY.  What a tease!  Why is this like this?
    While I'm on the subject,
    2) Why does iTunes match replace explicit versions of albums I have with the clean versions?  That *****!  Is there a way around that, like, can I select a preference so all Beastie Boys songs are explicit?  I'm 30 years old - I think I can handle the occasional cuss.
    And finally,
    3) How to you unsubscribe from this service?  Too many complaints and not worth even $2/month.
I love Apple, but I have an iPod primarily to play music.  If it is unable to perform that function, why make it?  I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years and have purchased three laptops, an iPad, three iPhones, and had an iPod since they were introduced to the market.  I also convinced my parents and say nothing bad about your company.  Until now.  Fix this, Apple, or this poor man will no longer justify spending money on your products.

    Update:
How do you delete iTunes match?  I clicked on "do not renew" or whatever from my account, but it doesn't expire 'till March 2013.  I can't wait that long to listen to music.  I turned "match" off on all my devices on my account and closed out all itunes and settings applications just like customer support told me to do after I waited an hour to talk to no one who could help.
My BRAND NEW iPod touch 5th generation is still having the same problem.  I can only see what music I formerly had in my iTunes match account, but can't listen to any of it, including the 47 songs my library is supposed to have.
Come on, Apple.  I really just want to listen to my music, unedited, on a device I hooked up to a computer with a USB cable.
    Please help.

  • I have 0 songs in my iCloud/iTunes Match account and it says exceeded limit. How do I fix?

Hard drive crashed and when I loaded my local songs back into iTunes it wouldn't recognize my library. So I deleted all songs from iCloud to start anew. Now it will not allow me to add anything into my iTunes Match account.   I have deleted the library, loaded an empty one and then reloaded the songs after cleaning out iCloud of all playlists and songs.  I am at wits end. Help.

    Hi,
Delete around 1,000 tracks so that the limit is reduced below 25k.
Hold shift key whilst turning off match. Close iTunes then reopen. Turn on match, you will be asked to add this computer, do so. The process may take sometime but if tracks had need previously matched or uploaded, the process will be quicker that a complete new scan.
Once scan has completed, check that the tracks have been matched, uploaded or purchased. Create a playlist based on iCloud status being matched or uploaded. This will tell you the total number of tracks that count towards the 25k. You can now think about readding the deleted tracks.
If you go over 25k non iTunes purchased track again, you can use the second library method to manage your main library. When you delete a track from the cloud it does not delete it from your computer. When you go back to your main library you will see the iCloud status as "Removed". Match will ignore in future scans.

  • ITunes match cloud question

All these songs from the cloud are taking up all my space on my iPhone. I'm using iTunes match. Is there a way to send the music back to the cloud after I'm done listening to it so it won't use all my storage?

Even when you download from iTunes Match, the content remains in the cloud, so you don't so much need to send it back but rather just delete it.
Swipe and delete, will work on individual tunes, albums and artists.
