Song won't play on authorized computer!
I downloaded several songs to my computer but now two of them says that they will only play on an authorized computer. My computer is authorized and all of my other songs will play. What should I do?
Delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.

Song won't play on authorized computer but has incorrect email address/ID
Hi All,
I am trying to play a purchased song "Watching the Detectives" by Elvis Costello on my computer. When I click to play the song, an error message appears that I need to authorize the song to my computer. Unfortunately, the ID/email is no longer valid and I am not able to access it or reset it.
When I enter the current ID and password I get a message indicating that this computer is already authorized.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Only one song won't play after authorizing my computer. I authorized it over and over. I even deauthorized all computers, and still same results. How can I fix this ? I'm using a MacBook Pro with iTunes 11
Hi Deb,
Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go. You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.
Here's some additional information on deauthorizing all:

I hope this helps!

I downloaded an album but some of the songs won't play - says my computer isn't authorized to play the song. I checked the authorization, and this computer is authorized. How do I fix this?
If just some of the tracks on the album are doing that, that suggests those tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -
I bought song with itunes card. The song won't play on my computer or devices. The messages says I need to authorize my computer to play the song. However, when I "authorize" my computer I get message that this computer is already authorized.
and, what is even more strange...
I actually bought 2 Billy Joel songs NY State of Mind from Essential Billly Joel and Italian Restaurant from Greatist Hits vol 1. Neither song would play.
I went back the Apple store and tried to re-download NYSOM. It let me do it for free. Before I checked I tried to re-dowload IR but inadvertantly selected same song but from The Stranger. I had to pay for this one. The re-downloaded NYSOM still didn't work but IR I bought from Stranger worked. So, I bought NYSOM from Greatest Hits vol 1. Didn't work!!! Tried again and bought from another album, Turnstiles, and that one worked. So, I bought 5 songs, only 2 of which will work.
So, now I ask - is there any way to get my money back? -
Protected AAC files won't play on authorized computer
I have a two year old computer with iTunes 10 that plays both Purchased AAC and Protected AAC songs fine.
I just moved my iTunes files to a new computer with iTunes 10 and authorized the computer. It will play Purchased AAC songs fine, but when I try to play a Protected AAC file it says I have to authorize the computer. When I do that again, it says that the computer is already authorized and that I have authorized 4 of my possible 5 computers. But when I try again to play the Protected AAC song, it does the same thing all over again.
Why can't I play music I have already paid for on one of my "authorized" computers?Your post is more informative than any of the punks at the apple store and the email-only (!!!) itunes support they refered me to. Basically, my wife is having the same issue with her old library. She has an old @aol.com as the "user name". When I try to play one of these old songs (that I copied from her old laptop onto my desktop for a consolidated, shared library) I get that pop up, "This computer is not authorized to play "[song title]". Would you like to authorize it?" The 'Apple ID' auto populates with [heremail]@aol.com. You mentioned that you used your name and also your apple ID. What is the difference, and how can I enter it differently in the pop-up? I have tried manually typing in her (maiden) name, with and without a space, also the [heremail] without the @aol.com, then entering the password that we know of, and still nothing.
Sorry to bring up old issues, but I could really use the help. She has over 2000 purchased songs and they can't be played on anything but the ipod that hasn't been synced in years.
Also, when I log into her old iTunes account in the iTunes store, there are only about a dozen songs in the Purchased section. ***??? This makes me think there is a real issue with the iTunes system.
Like I said, apple was ZERO help with this. The emails that we received were sent to us by a person who probably bangs her head against brick walls for fun.
Also, I have set all the permissions to the folders and files so both her and my login have read/write.
Thanks in advance. -

Hi! I bought a song on itunes, and now it won't play on my computer or iPod. Itunes on my computer keeps telling me that I'm not authorized to play the song on my computer, even after reauthorizing it. Is there anything I can do to play the song?

I just downloaded an album but one song won't play instead a message that "This computer is not authorized" to play the song. The prompt has a log in and when I log in it tells me the computer is already authorized. What gives? Specifically the album is Flying Lotus - Until the Quiet Comes and the song is DMT Song (feat. Thundercat). I purchased the entire album and it even played fine the first listen through.
Hi,
If you are in a country that permits redownloads, delete track and go to iTunes Store > purchased and redownload. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

I purchased a bunch of songs last month and one song won't play. Every time I try to play it the window pops up to authorize my computer to play that particular purchase. I tried all of the suggestions that Itunes support send me to. Nothing has worked so far. The song is on my account as a purchased item along with the other items that I purchased the same day. Does anyone have any ideas??
The very same thing has happened to me today...........? Could it be a song pending release? Seems unlikely. Please post any resolutions.

My old computer died just after I transferred iTunes via external HD. When I transferred the content from the HD to the new computer, most songs won't play. Message is "Can't identify source". Sharing was on in the old computer when it died.
Is there no ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM?
