Songs, Artists, and Albums showing up in Compliations....

I have several artists, songs, and albums in my iTunes library that show up under "compliations" but not as an actual artist--even though all the I have all the artist, song, and album info. Also--the same happens with my iPod: the artist shows up ONLY when searched via the album.
For example:
The artist The Postal Service--shows up in Compliations, but is not listed alphabetically in my library. On my iPod, they're listed ONLY under the album "Give Up", and not as an artist.
Finding music this way is rather confusing. Anyone know how to fix this?

+To display all artists in the Artists menu on your iPod, even those who only appear on compilations, remove the ticks against both of the iPod Compilation menu items, i.e.+
+Settings > Main Menu > Music > Compilations+
+Settings > Music Menu > Compilations+
+Cover flow should remain the same, with all compilations albums listed at the right-hand end.+
+To display all artists in the Artists browser column in iTunes turn off the preference to Group compilations when browsing. Provided you have set the Album Artist field the albums should remain grouped together.+

how do you activate the windows for song, artist, album in iTunes library? I used to put the cursor over the category, double click on it, then type in the song name, artist name, album, genre etc., but that technique doesn't seem to work now.

Why doesn't the artist and album name show up on my iPod?

I edit each of my song through "Get Info", so I just simply type in the artist and album name. When I eject my iPod, the artist and album name doesn't show. Solution?

That happened to me too... It's a glitch... what I did is press sync right when i put my ipod in.. sometimes it doesn't work... just do it some other time again...or change someting in the song (getting info) It appears randomly...

Songs appearing as Artists and Albums???

I loaded one CD onto my Video iPod that arrived by mail today and I transferred it to my iPod..
But when I went to look at it..
I clicked into Artists and all the 13 songs appeared under that as if they were Artists..
I clicked Albums and it was the same way.
Nothing separating them.
Instead of having Runway 36 under artists.. it had all their songs instead...
Any reason why?
I went into preferenced and fooled around alittle trying to figure it out and I unchecked something that said, Load songs to Artists and Albums also..
And then I took the songs off and reloaded... and I still have the same problem..
sigh
Can you help me?

Multiple same artists and albums missing, need some help pleas

Hi,
I just bought a Creative Zen mp3 player and for some reason, when I edit the name and info of my songs (artist, genre, album...ect...) , my player won't pick it up properly. I can have 2 or 3 different "Beatles" under artist, yet, they are spelled EXACTLY the same way. (capital letter, space, eveything is the same)
Now I used to have the same problem with my Creative Zen V Plus but I was always able to make it work after doing some copy & paste while editing the tracks info. This time, it's not working.
My second problem is the one that really bugs me the most. When I select certain artists on my player, some of the albums are missing. Ex: I select "Beatles" in my artists list and then I'm expecting to find all the albums but there are only 2 showing. Yet, if I go in the albums list,there're all gonna be there. And?as I said, the names & different info are all spelled properly. EVERYTHING IS THE SAME ! I spend alot of time editing my tracks info because I want everything to be organised perfectly on my player and it's getting really frustrating.
Anyone has a solution? thank you so much !

I am having a very similar problem. I had the problem, was told about Media Monkey, organized everything through Media Monkey, deleted all my songs off my Zen X-Fi 6GB and reloaded my songs. Again songs are missing. Here is the interesting thing. Media Monkey shows 273 items in the playlist and my Zen shows 273 songs So where are they?
I too am getting VERY FRUSTRATED! Please let me know if you find a solution!!

How to access the "Genre", "Artist", and "Album" Panel via COM/script

I thought I posted this a couple of days ago, but checking on "My Posts", it appears I didn't. Oooops
I'm using the COM interface, which is also same as the scripting one.
I'm trying to discover what elements in the iTunes main window have been selected, and thus "highlighted".
The main window appears, to the interface, to be the "BrowserWindow", not to be confused with the View -> Show Browser window. Within this main window, I can identify which Playlist is currently selected, and/or which individual tracks are selected.
But, what I'm trying to do, is also identify if any elements in the View -> Show Browser window are also selected. "Genre", "Artist", and "Album".
Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how do I achieve it.

N8 music player "artists and albums" issue

Hello!
"artists and albums" in N8 music player mixes albums with same name from different artists
into one album.
How to reproduce:
1) add "Greatest Hits" album from Blondie and "Greatist Hits" from Black Sabbath
2) refresh library
3) now there's one album "Greatest Hits" from Black Sabbath that contains songs from both Blondie and Black Sabbath albums.

if you run your music through windows music player before installing on phone and find album info in it all the music will display correctly well at least the odd 30 or so albums I have on my phone do , with album art in cover flow !

my ipod touch stopped organizing the artists and albums in the music application since the last time i synced music... so when i go to music, artists, i see the artists not organized in letters.. it used to organize them, it used to put each artist in a letter section (the letter that the artist's name starts with)
and the search bar on the right side isnt showing up as well
and the same thing is happening with the albums section...

I need help manually managing music- I only want select artists and albums in bulk

I am currently trying to sync music with a new Ipod (120GB) and am having diffuculty.
What I have done: I have checked the 'Manually manage music' box and am able to select music I want to sync with the Ipod no the 'Music' Page of the Ipod.
What I am trying to do: I have over 400GB of music, so I only want to select certain artists and albums. In this case I am trying to select batches of music to take across to another PC in alphabetical order. In other words, I want to select all Artists and Albums starting with the letters A, B and C.
What I want to know how to avoid: I am currently being forced to click on every single artist and album starting with A, B and C individually which as you can imagine is taking hours!!! I want to be able to select all artists or albums starting at one point and ending at another point, without having to click individually on each and every line item.
Please help! This is going to take me forever!

Enable the sidebar with CTRL+S if not there
Create a playlist with CTRL+N
Go to the Songs view.
Click the heading of the Album column until it reads Album
Select the first track of the first album
Scroll down the list until you see the last track of the last album beginning with C
Hold down shift and click that last track
Drag the selection to the playlist name and let go
Click the heading of the Album column until it reads Album by Artist
Select the first track of the first album
Scroll down the list until you see the last track of the last album beginning with C
Hold down shift and click that last track
Drag the selection to the playlist name and let go, don't copy duplicates
Drag this playlist to the device, or better yet go to automatic syncing and sync the playlist. You can then edit for the next update when the device isn't connected. You can also create additional playlists for stuff you "must have" on the iPod, new stuff etc. Automatic syncing is easier, more powerful, and more selective than manual management.

Oh ok. As far as music, no i have not synced music because it would load so much. I don't have movies or tv. I have never loaded ringtones before. So i am guessing they are connected to music. My apps do sync. So the best thing is to not sync and just drop them on my devices icon???
oh, if I check sync music the button for entire music library is selected how do I get Selected playlist, artists, ect. selected. Right now everthing is grayed out.

Unable to delete a folder under Artists and albums...

Hi..Im not able to delete a folder under Artists and albums in the music player. When deleting im getting msg as "File is Corrupted. Operation Cancelled". Can somebody suggest me how to get rid of the folder??

Connect phone to computer with usb cable (select mass storage mode) and try to delete folders using computer's file manager.

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both. If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time. Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.

Artist and Album Panes in Organizer View of Media Sourc

When I plug in my older Zen Nomad, I see three panes in the organizer view for the player's library (select the player in the Sources pane)?-- the larger track pane to the right, full height, and an artist and album pane in the middle, split vertically. When I plug in my new Zen Vision:M, I only see the single track listing pane when I select the player (or select the Music folder). The artist and album panes are missing. I can't find any way to make them visible. How do I do that?Thanks much,Paul?

Right now, I have have everything installed on my PC?(MediaSource, both plug-ins, and the NOMAD driver). Obviously both devices have their firmware installed. ;-)? Everything is working, except for the inability to browse the Vision:M as a "music library." I had previously updated the NOMAD's firmware to the latest?..0, and I haven't changed it for all this. The Vision:M was already running the latest PlaysForSure?.20.02 firmware when I received it, so I didn't touch that. For the uninstall/reinstall discussed above, I was only changing software on my PC. I'm using MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38. The NOMAD plug-in is the Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox Plugin 5.00.22. The NOMAD driver is the Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver 2.0.00. The Vision:M plug-in is the Creative PlaysForSure Devices Plugin 5.00.36. I tried software both from the Vision:M CD (which installed that horrible web based organizer), and from the downloads section of Creative's support web site (which is what I have installed now). Looking at the compatibility notes for all the software, it doesn't look like I can go back to the older MediaSource 3.30.2 I was using with the NOMAD?and use any available?Vision:M plug-in with it, so I didn't try rolling MediaSource back. It seems from my testing that the PlaysForSure?plug-in/drivers for the Vision:M do not present the device to MediaSource as something that is a "music library" and therefore MediaSource does not browse it with the same interface as it does the NOMAD. As I mentioned, it's already become pretty silly to try and browse just the 20 albums I've loaded so far, when all I can do is navigate to the Music folder and see a list of all the individual tracks. I can't even find a way to browse a list of albums or artists -- all I can do is sort by those columns which has very limited usability. Any ideas or tips appreciated. I'm guessing most people use some other software for managing their Vision:M libraries. What do they use? I had gotten used to MediaSource with the NOMAD and was hoping I could still use it for both.
