Songs auto-skipping after ~35 seconds!

So I am using Match on my iPhone, my Apple TV  and my Mac and recently, songs on Mac and Phone have skipped by themselves to the next song
after 35ish seconds. This is extremely annoying since it pretty much renders my music library useless.
While the Apple TV plays songs just fine, the only way to listen to music on the iPhone is to deactivate Match and sync songs from the Mac like
I used to do before iTunes Match.
I tried the usual things, such as resetting the iphone and switching Match off&on, didn't help.
If anyone had suggestions, they'd be much appreciated.
Regards,
Max

The short answer is - occasionally songs either are not ripped properly or do not import properly and need to be either re-ripped or re-imported.
I have almost 13,000 tracks on my iPod and every once in a while I stumble across a problematic song. I don't obsess about how many more there may be, I simply re-rip the track on move on.

Sounds like they got damaged on the way to the iPod - remove them and put them back on

  • Song skips after 16 seconds to the next one

I bought a song in Itunes, but when I try to play it on my Imac the song skips after 16 seconds to the next one. I have this problem only on my Imac. The same song works on my iphone and can be played till the end.
I already checked the song information where you can set stopping points but there's no stopping point for this song set. I also aren't able to download the song again. So how can I fix this proplem?

I have a similar problem with at least two songs that I know of, one is an iTunes download (encrypted) the other was imported from a CD using iTunes (no encryption). Both songs play 2-3 seconds then immediately go to the next song. The "weird" thing -- I plugged my iPod into my new MacBook which has no songs other than what are on my iPod (i.e., not playing the song from another source) and both songs play fine. Unplug the iPod from the computer, plug in headphones and the songs skip again.
I've gone through the 5 R's as well, with no luck.

Delete the problem song(s) from library including file(s). Then go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Select Music tab to re-download again for free.

  • Songs stop playing after 45 seconds

I have the ipod classic and it seems like some of the songs are stopping after 45 seconds of play. The timer says the whole song is there and I checked my computer library and it plays all the way thru on the computer.

I, too, am having this issue. I have the 5th gen iPod nano using the latest software on Windows XP Pro fully patched.
I had imported songs from Windows Media Player, all of which were ripped from CD.
I had read other posts on the 'net that the conversion process may have messed up timing and the song cuts off. However, The track plays fine on iTunes. Given that scenario I deleted the offending track from iTunes library and iPod and re-ripped from CD using iTunes at 256kpbs. This has not solved the problem.
I took the drastic measure of using the restore to factory option and re-sync'd with iTunes. This did not solve the issue either.
    /facepalm
    Any thoughts??

  • Some songs stop playing after 60 seconds

Most of the songs on my ipod were burned thru itunes from cd's I've purchased new from retail stores, Amazon, etc. I'm having a problem where some songs stop playing after 60 seconds. It then goes on to play the next song. Can anyone out there shed any light on this for me?
    Thank you.

This has started to happen to me too.

  • Songs skip after few seconds

Why do some song on my ipod skip after a few seconds?

For some unknown reason every once and a while a song will not "encode" properly when being converted into digital format (.mp3). This is the cause of the glitches that make the song skip past. This can be fixed by re-encoding the song at a different speed (The standard is 128kbps but can also be done at 160kbps and 192kbps in iTunes).
Now to re-encoding the glitched songs:
First off check the original encoding speed. This can be done by selecting the glitched song, right clicking and choosing the "Get Info" option and the bit-rate (encoding speed) will be in the summary tab. After you check the current encoding speed the settings for importing music into iTunes may need to be changed. You can change these by going into the "Edit > Preferences ~ Advanced tab > Importing tab" once here simply change the box labeled "Import Using" from "AAC Encoder" to "MP3 Encoder". Now all that needs to be done is to change the bit-rate. Choose one of the bit-rates from the "Setting" box that is different from the current bit-rate of the skipping song. Once the setting is chosen click "Ok" and then go to the "Advanced" menu and there should be an option to "Convert Selection to MP3". Now it is as simple as selecting the affected song and then going into the advanced menu and choosing the "Convert Selection to MP3" option to fix your glitched tunes! Every song that is converted using this will be encoded with the bit-rate chosen in the earlier stages.
Hopefully this helps, good luck re-encoding =)

  • Newly purchased songs stop playing after 12 seconds

I have reviewed many posts on this topic and have yet to find what appears to be a solution.
Here is what is going on:
I recently upgraded my system from an aged laptop running xp home to the current desktop running xp pro.
My collection of songs include from CD's and from apple store. I transferred over the songs only but not the library to the new system.
All the old songs seem to play just fine.
I have now purchased some new songs on the new system. These new songs will play for 8-12 seconds and then stop and play the next song for 8-12 songs, then stop and etc until it reaches one of the songs collected from the previous system. Then it plays those completely.
What I have done so far:
    1. Deleted the authorization file. re-authorized the songs. The same songs are still stopping at the same interval 8-12 seconds.
    2. Played the songs in quicktime. The same songs still stop after 8-12 seconds.
    3. I disabled anti-spyware, and anti-virus programs. same issue remains.
    4. I ran a McAfee AntiVirus scan and came up clean.
Again these songs were all downloaded successfully from the Apple Ipod store. I have the latest version of ITunes now.
    Any suggestions?

  • Reader XI auto closes after 4 seconds. Won't view PDFs.

I had Reader X but was having problems with using the sign function. I went to check for an update and downloaded XI. When I tried using it, it opened a window for about 5 seconds (promising) and then automatically closed. When I tried uninstalling, a window said that the administrator had blocked the program from being removed.
I tried a System Restore on my computer, attempting to fix X, but that didn't work. When I try downloading anything less than XI, it says I have a more updated function version on my computer. It says the same thing when I try reinstalling XI or fixing XI. It still auto crashed after 4-5 seconds.

Reader is actually covered in a separate forum (this is the Acrobat forum). Some of the issues are similar. Typically you need to be logged in as the administrator (at least with admin priv.) and have anti-virus disabled for the install. To try to go back, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, delete the Acrobat or Reader (in your case) folder, and reboot. Hopefully the install will go smoothly after the reboot. Again, be sure to be logged in as an administrator and have anti-virus disabled. Fixes can be done from the control panel>Programs & Preferences.

  • Sample song cuts out after 42 seconds

I am trying to play the sample of songs and they are cutting out after 42 seconds instead of 90 seconds. Any suggestions?

    1. Use these DNS: Google and Verizon DNS
    Primary DNS = 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS = 4.2.2.1
    2. Then apply these instructions:
    Windows XP
On the Start menu, click Run.
In the Open field type cmd and click OK.
In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return(Enter) on the keyboard.
You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7
On the Start menu, point to All Programs > Accessories and then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator from the shortcut menu. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return(Enter) on the keyboard.
You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
Your problem should be 100% solved

  • Ipod stops on some songs then restarts after 3 seconds?

Hi, im having a problem with my ipod, during a song the ipod sound fails, like its on pause, then it re starts again after a few seconds, does anyone know what the problem is?, ive already re set it a couple of time.
    cheers tim

Hi, tell us more about the file format of the concerned audio files.
If it is big and not much compressed, and the iPod can't buffer the whole thing in its RAM, some lags can be heared, (IE: a 30min Aiff).
Not experienced it yet on my 5thGen, but on my 10GB FW, with a ~4h Aiff.
