Songs cut out in the middle

On several different files downloaded from the iTunes store, the content cuts out in the middle. The song will be going along, playing normally, then there will be anywhere from several seconds to several minutes of silence before the song begins to play again. The progress bar in iTunes window continues on counting off seconds/minutes as if playing normally, but no sound comes out. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which files are doing this. I have entire albums where there isn't a problem and others where it happens on one, two or more files. It occurs across different devices. How can I re-download the files to see if this fixes the problem? Thanks

You can delete a track by selecting it and pressing the delete key. Confirm that you want to move it to the Trash.

I purchased Tommy Flanagan beyond the blue bird and several songs cut out in the middle. Can I delete the album and start over with a new download. I am not sure why this happened. It has never been a problem before.

    Yes. That can help.

Brand new 8GB IPob Touch freshly loaded...Cuts out in the middle of every song.
Please help if you know the fix

    Hey Ariddel,
I don't have the issue, but I am curious what's different between you and me. If you use nslookup in Command Prompt on Windows or use Network Utility on OS X to lookup pri.kts-af.net - what does it say?
Is it a particular genre or station that you're testing, or did you try several?
Could you share one of the streams you listen to and see this with that so I can test?
Does it happen at all hours, or are there only certain hours you listen to the radio in iTunes?
I know I mostly listen in the office - maybe it only happens when everyone is at work and listening to the radio?
Thanks for helping me with my curiosity problem.

  • As i am watching a movie the audio will cut out in the middle of the movie.

As i am watching a movie the audio will cut out in the middle of the movie. Also I am watching the movie in full screen mode.  IfI have a windows 8 and this article does not work http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1718. I have uninstall and reinstall with a current version of  quicktime.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Audio cuts out in the middle!

I have now burned two disks for my current project. The preview looks and sounds fine, but when I view the burned disk, the audio drops out in the middle. I thought maybe it was a memory issue, but wouldn't I get an error message or something? Maybe I did something wrong in the editing, but then why would the preview be fine? Any suggestions? THANKS!

The problem may be the actual DVD media or player. Read Beverly's comments here:

Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Disk Utility to burn the DVD.
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (not the .img, the one below) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. Your SuperDrive tray will open. Insert a recordable DVD. (DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and Tiger.
b Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Hp touchsmart win8 audio cuts out in the middle of listening or watching stuff after 5min

Just bought a brand new HP Touchsmart Envy 23 and audio will stop working after listening to anything after a few minutes. Been doing it since I bought it. Will work again if the computer is restarted, but still will only last a few minutes before cutting out for good again.

To confirm, the driver linked to earlier in this thread was installed and your audio is no longer working at all?
    What is the product number?
NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number or the Windows product key.
If you open the device manager (typically Start>right-click Computer>manage>device manager), is the sound card listed without any errors (?, ! )?  If it has a ? or a ! on it, open it and let me know what the status message is.
What is the status of the mute key?  Does the key respond when it is pressed?

  • HT1349 iTunes radio frequently cuts out in the middle of a song and rebuffers--a lot! This is really annoying.

I have a dual platform system and when I use iTunes on the PC side, it frequently craps out. It suffers from constant dropout and needs to rebuffer. I went on here to create a post about it and found the choice of communities disappointing. Furthermore, the MAc side also suffers from this issue. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is always happening?

  • Audio cuts out in the middle of recording an instrument track

The recording continues to happen, but I can no longer hear either the pre recorded tracks, nor the track I am laying down.
I am using Logic 7 Express on a Mac Mini with 1 Gig of Ram, and I am recording through a M-Audio Fast Track USB. Play back goes through the Fast Track into a Logitech basic computer 3 piece speaker system. I dont know if this is an application or hardware issue.
    Any thoughts?

  • Audio cutting out at the end of my video

So I exported a AVCHD video into an uncompressed AVI and then re imported it. I brought it into the time line and edited it a bunch and also brought in another video and mixed that in. For about half of the video, I used the audio from the video itself... but in different sections, I brought in a separate wav file. I used this wav file towards the end of the video for about 1 minute of the video. After I was done, I exported the entire project into a normal avi file because what I'm going to do for now is upload these to YouTube and so I don't want the file sizes to be too huge.
So I opened up the final avi file in VLC player... and everything is great... except the last 30 seconds or so of the video doesn't have the audio. It plays the audio from the wav about halfway through... and then it stops. The video continues... but there is no sound.
I went back into the project and everything looks fine. The wav file extends to the end and the audio plays fine when I preview the video. So I exported again just to see if it was some sort of error the first time... but no... it did the same thing.
So why is the audio cutting out at the end? How do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok I figured out how to do a better quality MP4. However I had two problems. 1... the quality isn't near as good as the AVI. 2... now the audio cuts out in even more places instead of just the end. It seems that the .wav file I imported is causing the problems. In the AVI, the wav file cuts out at the end. In the MP4, the wav file cuts out in the middle AND at the end. I don't understand why this is happening. The wav file plays all the way through normaly, and it also sounds find when I preview the video... but when I encode it... it cuts out in places regardless of the format. Is there some step I'm missing in the process to make sure the audio is all in place?

  • HT201272 on my iPhone, iPad, computer, most of the songs stop right in the middle of the songs, I have alot of songs and albums I spent money on what do I do.

On my old Iphone I had problems with all my songs cutting off in the middle and jumping to other songs continuously, now I have the 5 and used icloud to get all the songs transferred and it still does the same thing...I do I fix it on my computer, ipad, and iphone 5

    Hello Trudy5875,
It may be because the songs are in the wrong format as you said. Try making sure they are all ".Mp3" if not, You can follow this link to an online converter: http://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp3
After that it should work. If it does not, try re-downloading all of your songs and syncing them. This has happened to me before and this worked perfectly for me.
    Sincerely,

  • Many of my songs are incomplete and will cut out towards the end

I've had this problem for several years now. I have over 4,000 songs (most of which were purchased through iTunes and the rest imported from CDs). A lot my songs will play for a little while and cut out at the end. Sometimes it's just silence but lately the next song will just start playing. When I go into my iPhone to check it out it still has the album artwork and everything from the previous song.
I've contacted support several times about this over the years. The first time I was told to connect to my computer and reload all my songs. This seemed to fix many of the songs but then I would notice other songs had the problem. I was then told to redownload all of my purchases and to sync again. Same thing happened. It seemed alright for a while until the same problem occured. The third time I tried to get it fixed I was advised to delete the song from my phone and redownload it through the iTunes app. This seemed to fix each individual song (though its not very practical). But now even that no longer works. I delete the song and redownload it only to find that it still skips to the next song without registering it. It's driving me nuts and, while I can't prove it, I'm pretty sure the problem is growing. I notice songs that played fine a few weeks ago do the same thing. Considering the amount of money I've spent purchasing music it's maddening not being able to listen to a complete song.
Is there any fix for this? I've found similar posts but no new advice. Any help that anyone can provide would be welcome.
Some additional info...this happened when I had my iPod touch, my iPhone 4 and now my iPhone 5. My software is up to date.
    Thanks.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to restart iTunes. While downloading select the Downloads widget near the top-right (iTunes 11) or in the entry in the left-hand column (older iTunes) and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

According to iTunes, my song is downloaded, but when I play it it's cut off in the middle.  I cannot download it again.  Help!

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

i use itunes to play music through my airport express but sometimes the songs cut out sporatically.  a song will be playing along then all of a sudden there is intermittant music and silence. What could be causing this?

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!
