Songs cutting off on my ipod

I've installed iTunes and then from an external hard drive added my iTunes library. I've updated my iPod as I had downloaded a new album but some songs (new and old) are cutting off before they should end. Any ideas how to fix this.
I'm using a dell laptop

have you checked the settings, then ? is crossfade enabled or what ?
Do you think it's possible that it has become corrupted in some way?
why don't you start a new thread in the appropriate forum (http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=157) ? the users there may be better equipped for this question.
Or maybe it's just time to upgrade? I've been ready to buy a 160 GB iPod for a while now
consider getting a refurbished unit: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod?mco=OTY2ODY2NQ.
good luck !

  • Songs cut off during play

I have 2nd gen iPod touch. When I play it through a USB cord it cuts some of my purchased songs short. My husband has 3rd gen and he has no trouble when he plugs his in with the same cord into the same device. The songs I have trouble with play fine. What could be the problem? I'm using both iPods in Microsoft Sync in my Ford

Apparently this problem hasn't been fixed in 8.2 (so I won't be upgrading). I'm very familiar with this problem, even though my iPod Classic is only four months old. I've finally gotten all of my songs to work (it took two months to cycle through my entire collection to determine which ones were broken).
This post contains the solution for songs cutting off on the iPod: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9333313#9333313. Also read [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9477739#9477739]. Now, if the songs are ending early in iTunes playing from your hard drive, then the original file got corrupted by iTunes and the only fix is to re-import or use a backup copy.
At this point, I don't want iTunes to touch my music files for a large transfer. I keep my music on an external drive; if I were to have to move them from that drive to another drive for some reason, I'd rather bite the bullet of losing my date-added data and use the Finder to move the files and then re-import my Library file than follow the iTunes instructions.

  • Songs cut off on iPod and on iTunes

I've seen this asked before but no one can seem to help when it comes to the Windows iTunes:
Songs on my iPod are not only being randomly cut off, but the +song length+ is being changed right before my eyes for no discernable reason. For example, I have a song that is 3:46, but it will display the length as 2:22, then I do Right Click --> Get Info, press OK, and the length has gone back to 3:46. However, when I play the song, it stops at 2:22 and goes to the next song.
I've already tried updating the ID3 tags and that didn't work. Someone PLEASE tell me how I can fix this without re-setting my iPod and deleting my entire library.

Does it get cut off on the iPod or in iTunes (or both)?
Does it always happen with the same songs?
The problem may be related to the program that was used to encode those files. Do a +Get Info+ on a few of the affected songs and see if there is anything in common where is says +Encoded with+ on the Summary tab.

  • Songs cutting off

A month ago  I bought an album, a few of the songs on said album cut off towards the end( last 10 seconds or so, no big deal just annoying). Today I bought an album and same issue is happening only some songs cut off about 10 seconds in. I've tried playing the songs in another media player but the same thing happens. These two albums are the only things I've purchased at the itunes store in the past 2 months. The rest of my library is unaffected. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how I can fix it?

Something similar happens to me, too, except the song will cut off and the screen reverts back to the default home screen. Like you, these are the same songs that play in my iPod without any issues. The same thing happens with the web browser - it will just drop off and revert to the home screen.
I'm wondering if we might have a couple of defective phones. I just got my phone yesterday..

  • Songs Cutting Off at different intervals.

Only had the Ipod for about 10 months but has been going on since we bought it. Songs keep cutting off. Some at the end, some at the begining, and some in the middle and always the same songs which were all purchased and in some cases repurchased from Itunes. They play fine on the computer and on CDs burned from Itunes. Contacted Apple and we paid for shiping from and to Apple. When the box arrived the paper work said that the battery would not hold a charge. That wasn't what we told them, so I wrote on the return paperwork that Songs cut off. They sent it back saying they could not recreate the problem. No prior contact to ask us to help them or what songs were having problems. So we paid 31.00 for the fun of it. Any one have any Ideas. I have reauthorized and even moved songs to the Ipod with a different computer nothing has changed. HELP PLEASE!!!!! Wifes Christmas present not a present and is sending her on a rampage.

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL HELP YOU...
BUT YOU CAN TRY TO TURN OFF SHUFFLE MODE, IF YOU HAVE IT ON.
I JUST BOUGHT MY 80GB CLASSIC AND IT WAS CUTTING OFF RANDOM SONGS IN ALL DIFFERENT PLACES IN THE SONG, SOME IN THE BEGINNING, SOME AT THE END AND SOME IN THE MIDDLE. ALL KIND OF RANDOM ???
IN OTHER WORDS IT WOULD CUT OUT OF THE CURRENT SONG AND SWITCH TO THE NEXT SONG... FOR NO REASON... IN SHUFFLE MODE ONLY.
I TURNED OFF SHUFFLE AND SO FAR SO GOOD, SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED IT.
    I HOPE THAT WILL HELP...

  • Songs Cut Off Before Finished

Can anyone tell me why on my Mini songs occasionally stop abruptly before they finish and the next song begins?
The latest song to do this, which came off my CD, plays to completion on iTunes.
    Thanks.

Hi all, I think I've figured out one solution to this problem. I have a 3rd Gen iPod and was having songs cut off. Random songs at random points near the end of the song. I've read a post here about deleting the artwork from the songs on the iPod, and it worked! Long story short: Use this script from www.dougscripts.com "removeallipodartwork" to delete all artwork from the iPod, not iTunes. iTunes is fine, only the iPod is having trouble with the little bits of artwork information. If you have any doubts, manually delete artwork from just a couple of songs, update your iPod and listen for the cut off (you can fast forward to near the end of the song). Believe me, I've tried everything else for the past 18 months or so. MP3, AAC, different quality, different iTunes versions, different iPod OS, restoring the iPod, I could go on. Hope this helps.

  • When i set iphoto to 'fit slideshow to music' the song cuts off before the end and starts again.  Anyone know why?

I have tried changing the seconds each slide displays for and fiting the slides to the music and no matter what I do the song cuts off 30-40 seconds before it actually ends and starts again.  I haven't had this problem before.

    Hi kjackson73,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the same songs seem to cut out on multiple devices, first try re-importing or converting them using iTunes. You can also download iTunes Store purchases again. See these articles for more information:
iPhone and iPod touch: Songs or other audio content are skipped during playback
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3159
If the original CD is available, remove the affected content from the iPhone or iPod touch and then import it again from the CD using iTunes.
If the original CD is not available, convert the content to AAC using iTunes.

  • ITunes sync problems - incomplete sync and songs cut off

I have two problems. One is longstanding and the other is new.
The new one is that I bought an iPhone 6 a few weeks ago.  I mostly love it, but many iTunes songs from my Mac (10.9.5 iOS, with iTunes 11.4) have not properly synced onto the iPhone. The songs that will not play are greyed out with a circle containing a square that is grayed out. I suspect those are songs that have not properly downloaded, but I really don't know.  I have seen a discussion thread from people with this problem with Yosemite, but I have not upgraded yet.
The other problem is old. Some synced songs on both my new iPhone and an older iPod cut off the end of the song.  I know that this has been going on for a long time, but the folks at the Genius Bar look like they have never heard of it before.
I love my my music.  Help, please!

  • Purchased songs cut off about 30 seconds in?

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I purchased an album and the first 2 songs cut off about 30 seconds in. The full lengths of the tracks are listed, but they just cut off.
    Any ideas?

Does this only happen with the tracks you have downloaded from the iTunes Store?  Perhaps you should work the suggestions in this Apple support document first.

  • Why are some songs cut off early?

I just transferred my iTunes library from my old macbook (where it was working fine) to my new macbook pro. I notice many songs cut off before finishing, usually all the songs from a same album. I downloaded my past purchases from icloud and still happens. My ipod, which I now synced with my new macbook is (obviously) doing the same. Anyone have any bright ideas to resolve this? I guess Apple is too busy counting all the money from us suckers who have bought their hardware and/or paid for music downloads from iTunes to take care of this.

I am having the same problem.  I moved my files from an old Windows XP machine to a new Windows 7 machine.  I put them in the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder thinking they would all be added to my library and work just fine.  Now I noticed that all songs for the same Artist get cut off at the same point in time.  For one artist, it was 2:25.  Any song shorter than that worked fine.  Any song longer got cut off.  For another artist, it was 2:17.  It seems to be more with songs I downloaded from iTunes.  Songs that came from CDs that I own and imported seem to be fine but I haven't checked every song.  Any help Apple?

  • Someone please help! song cuts off

I bought a cd from ITunes store, downloaded it, synced it to my nano & 1 of the songs cuts off half way thru, the next song starts (while still under the previous title) plays all the way thru then starts again under its own title.

I recommend to convert all your Music with iTunes itself. A lot of people had the problem (see earlier threads), that songs cut off during playback on iPod, even if they do play in iTunes.
The Reason is, that iPod nano has problems to read the MP3 Encoding of some converting programs. So just convert all of your songs (which wont play correctly) with iTunes itself. So go into your library, highlight these songs, right-click, choose "convert to AAC" (this is standard. You can set MP3 in the preferences in iTunes also...I've done so....thats better for other players then iPod )
After the new converting, you can delete the older (double) songs. Than just sync iPod again and you're done.

  • Songs cutting off during playback

Hi. I'm having issues with songs cutting off approx. 30-45 seconds before the actual end of the song. This is occurring in iTunes and on my synced devices, on songs uploaded from CD and on a high percentage of purchased songs. Any ideas how to fix - other than delete my entire library and start over???

I've had the same problem and found an easy solution.
I remembered the skipped songs and marked them in iTunes. Now right click on them and choose convert to AAC (or MP3...whatever).
Then the songs will be imported to the iTunes folder. After that you can delete the older ones, so that there are no songs twice.
The reason of the skipping is, that iPod nano has problems to play some (unknown) coded MP3 songs. So when you code them by importing them with iTunes (as said above), then the iPod will play them perfectly (mine does so).
    Hope this will help.
    Chris

  • HT4993 My songs cut off before they end on my iphone.

My songs cut off before they end on my iphone.

Same problem. I have submitted feedback. It appears that a significant number of people are experiencing the same problem and have been for months - yet, no official response of correction from Apple. This problem is also affecting the 'Match' product they're trying to sell. I would recommend waiting until this problem is fixed before signing up for Match.

  • A downloaded song cuts off at the end - how can i get the full song

I recently downloaded a new song, but the song cuts off at the end.  How can I get the full song?

Try update your iTunes to the latest 10.6.3 version and see if it rectifies the issue.

  • I downloaded an album and most of the songs cut off before they are done

I downloaded an album and most of the songs cut off before they are done. How can i get a refund or credit for this?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
