Songs cutting out in itunes and ipod

I just switched to a new computer with Vista and a quad core processor (not sure if that has any impact), and iTunes cuts off songs randomly as well as on my iPod. It doesn't matter if I ripped them from a CD or purchased via itunes. I've tried converting to ACC, but itunes will not let me.
Any help would be appreiated.

I am having this same problem. I recently converted my iTunes library to a new Windows Vista PC. Song cuts out on iPod but not on iTunes. Apple store gave me a replacement unit fo the 30GB 5th generation and it still happens on the new unit. Also happens on my iPod Nano (new model).
Every post I see relating to thsi problem is "unanswered".

I uninstalled my iTines and re-installed on my Fujitsu laptop. When I went to synch, I was unable tosynch my iPod to my iTunes. In addtion,I am unable to put my iTunes library of 100s of songs back onto my iTunes or iPod.I have lost all my compilations and my playlists.

    Hey bryce255,
Thanks for the question, that definitely sounds frustrating. Luckily, we have steps available that may be able to restore your previous library:
No content shows up in iTunes after updating
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1967
    Resolution
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
    3. Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:
    Mac OS X
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7
    \Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    4. Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
    5. Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
    6. Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
    7. Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
    8. Rename this file to iTunes Library.
    9. Open iTunes.
You should now see your missing content in iTunes.
If the above does not resolve your issue, you can learn about re-creating your iTunes library:

  • Ipod songs 'grayed out' in Itunes and won't play

My son's Ipod will not allow him to drag any playlists into his Ipod(nano) anymore. we get the circle with the line througt it and it doesn't load. also, when i Itunes we click on his Ipod and all the songs appear on the screen but they're all grayed out and he can't click them to play them. this all started a couple days ago. I updated the Itunes and his Ipod last night but that didn't fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks
    al

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. The text will change from grey to dark and the padlock will disappear: Managing content manually on iPod
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

  • WiFi cut out during update and iPod 4th gen is stuck on connect to iTunes screen

I was updating the iOS and I think the WiFi cut out and messed it up. This has happened before and supoort helped me fix it, but im not paying 20 dollars for them to help again...

Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    Then restore from backup
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Songs stop playing in iTunes (and iPod Touch) early

I have a few songs where the song will stop playing and move on to the next song in the playlist early.
The place is different for each song, but it's consistent within the song. For example, I have one song where the song plays fine up until 43 secs before the end, and then it switches to the next song. If I advance the counter to -42 secs, skipping -43, the song finishes fine.
These were all bought from Apple, they're m4p files.
Is there anything I can do?

Do you have the original file on your computer? If it plays in iTunes without ending early, then the resolution is to take the song off of the device and put it back on.
If the original (on your computer) got corrupted somehow (iTunes 8 appears to muck up files during transfers), then contact the iTunes Store by reporting a problem with a purchase. Perhaps they'll allow you to replace the file -- they did that for me when one of the songs I'd purchased somehow got corrupted. If you have a backup, you could also replace the song from backup.

  • Ugggh!  Songs disappeared!  HELP iTunes and iPod help

Okay, I don't know what I did, but all of my songs disappeared off iTunes. I think I was able to locate most of my CD's that I had downloaded, but anything that I had purchased is gone. What went wrong, and is there some way I can reinstall all of my songs?
Also, if I connect my iPod to my computer will it take the songs that are no longer in iTunes off of my iPod?
    Thanks!

  • Song volume difference between iTunes and iPod

I changed the volume of a few songs that were too loud or too weak when playing in iTunes. Now the volume is fine when playing in iTunes.
But when I tranfer my songs to my iPod mini, the songs where I boosted the volume are WAY TOO LOUD, and the songs where I lowered the volume are WAY TO SILENT !!
It seems that iPod mini interpretes the volumes in a different scale than on iTunes...
PS. Don't tell me to use the automatic volume control, because it's not fine enough to be useful...

"what if i dont have a mac?"
    Buy one? (sorry, couldn't resist) : )
I have only ever used mp3gain on Windows, and apparently it now supports AAC files also (as a Beta version).
That's the only one I have personal experience of.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

Hey Ryan, When you looked at Get Info as Illaass instructed did you compare all the info listed in iTunes Get Info on the computer's copy? When you looked at the song(s) that are separated, do they list anything different like a featured artist? Or a different composer / song writer? Sometimes that will trick the the software into thinking it is 2 different albums. Make the info about the album and artist match, then sync to your iPod. The songs should go back where they belong on your iPod. Good luck. Cheers.

Delete the problem song(s) from library including file(s). Then go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Select Music tab to re-download again for free.

  • I have downloaded a CD from iTunes onto my matchbook pro but the first three songs cut out after a few seconds? Help!

I have downloaded a CD from iTunes onto my Macbook pro but the first three songs cut out after a few seconds? Help!

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • TS1424 downloaded music and song cuts out and goes to play next song

    Hi
I've downloaded songs from the iTunes store and have realised that the song cuts out before it is due to finish and goes to play the next song.
How can this be fixed? or can I get a credit back on the songs I've purchased which have been cutting out?
    Very frustrating.......

Fix involves deleting song and redownloading from purchased section
Delete song from library > restart itunes> Go to itunes store > sign in on top right if not already logged in > under quick links select "purchased" > select music on top > find the song and download it with the cloud icon

  • Skipping songs on itunes and ipod. Know why?

Of course I have gotten 2 new ipods and since my warranty was up I had to pay for another one. But now the problem, itunes and ipod are both skipping. Some songs play for 5 seconds, some for 5 minutes. Does anyone know why? Do I need to delete and reload all my songs? (none are illegal downloads.) Thanks if you can help.

The most likely cause of this would be on-demand virus scanning. I've had to set an exception in F-Secure on my PC to leave my 220 GB of FLAC files alone to solve this problem. If you have a large music library, I would look into the settings for your virus scanner and see if it helps to exclude files with the relevant extensions (MP3, M4A, M4P, etc.).
If you schedule or manually carry out virus scans on your PC, then just make sure that you enable your virus scanner to scan all files.
