Songs deleted off my Ipod

I downloaded a new version of iTunes, and some of the music that I had on my iPod came from another computer. When I connected my iPod, I forgot to change the settings to manual, and a ton of songs were deleted off of my iPod. Does anyone know if there's a way to get them back on again?? thanks

No, there wouldn't be a way (unless connecting the iPod to the other computer again).
If the songs were deleted by auto-syncing in iTunes, then they are permenately deleted.
If you'd like to prevent auto-syncing from happening to your iPod int he future, then try this:
1 - Open iTunes, and leave it up and running.
2 - Get ready to watch your iPod, and connect it to your computer.
3 - As soon as your iPod displays "Do Not Disconnect", immediately begin to press and hold the "Shift" and "Ctrl" keys for about 30 seconds. Let off the keys when you're sure iTunes isn't going to do anything with your iPod.

  • Songs deleted off of iPod, after I deleted "iPod selection"

Hi! I DESPERATELY need help! (I can't live without my music)
I have the 2nd generation, 4 GB nano, and when I synced my songs today, iTunes (the newest version available on the apple website) told me that all of my songs in iTunes cannot fit in my iPod. So it asked me if I wanted to create an "iPod selection" so my songs would be synced, so I said yes.
After turning on my iPod, I noticed that all my playlists were gone, and this "iPod selection" had replaced all of them. So, I went back to iTunes, deleted the "iPod selection", and went back to my iPod thinking all my old playlists would be there, but ALL MY MUSIC IS GONE! Luckily, I have all my songs backed up on my computer, but now my iPod is EMPTY, and I have no idea how to re-sync my songs!
Whenever I try to sync, it tells me "it cannot be synced because all of the playlists for syncing no longer exist".
I would really appreciate some help, thanks!!

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Why are the songs I've deleted off my Ipod grayed out?

I've deleted the songs manually off my ipod, as there is an option to do so. However, when I click into my songs on the Ipod, there are the songs that I had already deleted and are grayed out. They won't play-because I've deleted them. I've gone as far as deleting them off my Itunes and computer all together. The grayed out songs are still there and will not go away! Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

Depending upon what country that you are in you might be able to re-download them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.

  • How do i get a song to delete off my ipod but not my itunes?

Ok, well as you can see in the question above i do not want to delete the entire song from my itunes library, but i want it off my itouch. The only thing is i can't seem to get it to stay off of my itouch. I delete it off my ipod but everytime it is plugged into my computer it goes back on to my ipod. please help!?

    Hi megan,
    You have several options:
    1.     Hook your iPod Touch up to your computer in iTunes, and select the device when it appears
    2.     Go to the Music Tab for your iPod, and de-select "Entire Music Library", select instead "Selected Playlists, artists, albums, and genres
    3.     Then go below that selection button, and check all of the artists, albums, genres that you want. Any that you don't want on your iPod leave unchecked, then sync
The other option is to create smart playlists which automatically include songs which you have designated for that playlist. Then, on that same tab shown above, you would simply select the specific Playlists you want on your iPod, and leave everything else unselected.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,

  • HT203128 How do i delete songs/podcasts off my ipod in itunes 12.1

Since the upgrade, I cannot see how I can delete songs or podcasts off my ipod.  I will run out of memory very quickly.  If I put in delete songs into Help it says select and press backspace.  This does not work.

Thank you very much for your help.  Actually, I just found another solution.  I checked the box at the bottom of the Summary page which says Manually manage music and videos.  I then clicked Apply and after that, I was able to delete content.
Why are neither of these solutions available when you query Help?
Perhaps one of the highly paid help in Apple could tell me (and all the others who have commented) what benefits we are getting from the upgrade to 12.1.  It just seems to have made it less user friendly and more difficult to use.

  • Songs deleted off ipod nano! please help!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
As long as all of the songs are in iTunes, you will be fine. You can restore the iPod, then reload everything from iTunes...

  • Songs suddenly deleted off of iPod

I was using my iPod on iTunes and when i disconnected i saw that all my songs had suddenly been deleted off of it. i went to the settings menu and looked at the "about" section of it and it says that half the iPod was in fact still used up. how can i recover my songs?

Have you got all your music still in your iTunes library?
In this case it might be a good idea to download the current iPod updater an to run it (either to update your iPod or to restore it to factory conditions).

  • If I delete songs off of a playlist on my iPhone 4S, will the songs delete off of the iTunes playlist when I sync?

So basically, I have a LOT of music. Like, over 26,000 songs a lot. I am now in the process of going through all of it, song by song, and I have been making playlists on iTunes and syncing them to my phone. Now, I know I can delete the songs manually off of my iPhone, but will they delete off of iTunes as well once I sync back to the computer? I'm worried that all of my work will be for naught. And if there is a way to delete the songs off of iTunes, other than manually selecting and deleting, please let me know. Thank you!

    B2Veil,
The best way to ensure the content gets removed from your iPhone is to back it up and then Erase All Content and Settings.   See the article belows below for more info:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
iOS: Understanding 'Erase All Content and Settings'
You can remove all settings and information from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using "Erase All Content and Settings" in Settings > General > Reset.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Songs deleted off HD but still in iTunes library?

Maybe a stupid question but I figured it was worth asking.
I have a bunch of songs that are not on my HD but still in the iTunes library, and my iPod is set to manual update because I'm scared of losing all my songs. The actual question is; if the songs are still in the library but the songs aren't actually there, will they be deleted from my iPod if I set it to automatic updating?
(Don't tell me to buy an external harddrive; can't afford it, haha.)

Thanks for a speedy reply and won't change that, then
(Oh, and in case someone thinks I'm dumb for not backing up? They're all backed up on CD and on another computer.)

  • 30seconds to 2mins of song cut off on ipod

I have a really really werid error, when I first got a 5G ipod, about 1/12 of the songs were 30seconds-2min shorter on the ipod and had there ends cut off, when I played them with itunes off the ipod however, they played fine (full song). I dismmised this as a defective ipod, returned it, got a new one, used it with no problem for 2 days, and then found a song with 32seconds of the end cut off. I synced it with itunes, and it didn't fix the problem, it only fixed the song after I listen to it all the way through on itunes, and synced it again. Based on my previous experiance I think there are more songs on my ipod cut off like this. Any suggestions on how to fix this, or how to test to see if more songs are cut off without listen to all 2400 songs on it

I have the same problem. I have a 15 gig 2G ipod and I replaced a dying 20gig 3G ipod with a new 60gig 5G ipod. Other than the harddrive dying in the 3G (I did get over 7000 hrs out of it!) I have never had any of the 6200 songs I have loaded ever have an error or skip like this. I've reripped 2 songs and they now have no error, but it seems like a cascading error (replacing the 2 songs seemed to cause 3 more to fail that didn't 2 days earlier) I have two questions: 1) Is this just a glitch in the error trapping of the driver software (meaning I can hope for a reprieve! with the next release) or 2) After restoring and reloading everything on the 5G and testing the tracks that skip on the 2G can I assume I've gotten a bum drive 3 days into owning my new pod?

  • Songs disappear off my iPod!

I purchased songs on my i-pod touch and I transferred them into I-tunes, but they have disappeared off my iPod touch and are only in I-tunes. ALSO they do not play in I-tunes, they are in faded font and they don't play or transfer onto my iPod when I sync it! Please help me!

  • Cant delete off the IPOD

Upgraded to a new nano but it will not allow me to delete off audiobooks, it does not allow me to highlight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any ideas?

    Welcome to AD!
Your new nano is most likely set to autosync, so everything on the nano is grayed out.
You can go into the ipod settings when it is connected. On the Music tab, uncheck the box to sync the audiobooks playlist, and they should get removed.
Otherwise you can set your ipod to manually manage music. Everything will not be grayed out anymore and you can delete that way....but then your ratings and playcounts will not sync from the ipod back into itunes.

  • Most songs deleted off ipod!

I recently redid my computer, so theres nothing left. My ipod had all my music so I wasnt too worried. Then i tried syncing it and now only certain songs are on itunes and my ipod. where did all the rest of the songs go?!

There are some data recovery programs on the market. I've no personal experience of them so I can't say how effective they are, here's an example: iPod Data Recovery
None of the recovery programs are particularly cheap so you have to decide if in your particular circumstances it's worth it to get your songs back. If they came primarily from your CDs then it's most likely not as you can re-rip them.

  • Songs cut off on iPod and on iTunes

I've seen this asked before but no one can seem to help when it comes to the Windows iTunes:
Songs on my iPod are not only being randomly cut off, but the +song length+ is being changed right before my eyes for no discernable reason. For example, I have a song that is 3:46, but it will display the length as 2:22, then I do Right Click --> Get Info, press OK, and the length has gone back to 3:46. However, when I play the song, it stops at 2:22 and goes to the next song.
I've already tried updating the ID3 tags and that didn't work. Someone PLEASE tell me how I can fix this without re-setting my iPod and deleting my entire library.

Does it get cut off on the iPod or in iTunes (or both)?
Does it always happen with the same songs?
The problem may be related to the program that was used to encode those files. Do a +Get Info+ on a few of the affected songs and see if there is anything in common where is says +Encoded with+ on the Summary tab.

  • Songs CUT OFF on iPod!

I seem to be having this problem since iTunes 5.0. When i sync my iPod, iTunes updates songs whose information i have not changed. When i play some songs on my iPod they end when the song isn't over. When I go back and sync, the songs are fixed, but others are changed.
If anyone has this same problem or knows a solution please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    -Tom

Another thing to try if you have your ipod set to manually manage songs and playlists is to hook up your ipod and in itunes just play the song (on your ipod not your library). Itunes realizes the problem somehow and automatically corrects itself. If your ipod is set up to automatically update just hooking it up fixes it.
Hope this helps a little more...
