Songs displayed incorrectly on new iPod. Need help!

I'm sure this is a dumb question and I'm missing something obvious. Yesterday, I got a 60GB iPod (with video/photo capabilities...not sure if that's the only one out there right now) and I put a CD on it. However, I noticed a problem. When I go to artists, and select the album, all of the songs are displayed alphabetically, and not by the correct track number. I already checked, and the ID3 tags have the correct track numbers associated with the songs. How do I get the songs to display correctly by track number, not alphabetically?

Nevermind, I got it to work.

  • Contacts not displaying properly in video iPod, need help

My contacts do not display properly on my video iPod. The phone numbers sometimes have dashes and sometimes do not in the iPod but the phone numbers always have the dashes in my address book on my G4 desktop. Example: iPod 555 555 1212 or 5555551212 or 555-555-1212
address book 555-555-1212 (always has the dashes)
I want the Ipod to display the way it looks in the address book, always using the dashes. I am total type A and it drives me crazy when they are not all the same!
    I have iTunes 7 on a MDD G4 running 10.4
    Thanks!

    hi,
By default Messages should grab info from the Address Card in the Contacts app even if the iCloud option is not checked (and then syncing with other computers and iOS devices that are also set to sync this way).
However the Contacts App does need to be opened and have the Preferences > Accounts checked to see it is using a Valid Account.
The Address Cards need to list iMessages and possibly AIM and Jabber ID info as well.
Next you need to check the View Menu in Messages.
The Buddy Name option only used to work in Buddy List but now seems to also effect the main Messages window.  (So you can change it here to Handle, which is ID or Screen Name).
Lower down is the option to display Names, Pictures or Name and Pictures next to people in the Chats.

Your friend is right. the iPod cannot be used to update iTunes. I had the same problem about a year ago, and I just transferred each song using my jumpdrive. It's painstakingly boring, but it will work without wiping anything clean.

  • Songs are skipping on new ipod

I just bought a new ipod shuffle and all of my songs are skipping and breaking up. Some songs are bought from itunes and some are from CD's. Please help!!!!

Ok, I converted all the music in my itunes library to ACC format, then re-synced to ipod. I am still having the same problem with some songs. These cds/music were previously on my computer that had been imported through either real player or windows media player a while back, prior to having itunes.
I have heard that the cds need to be imported through itunes in ACC format. If you don't have the original cds anymore, you can re-burn them to a cd and then import again in itunes. Apparently it can't be music that has been previously put on your computer through real player, etc.
I haven't had time to try this yet so I'm not sure if it works. I will let you know!

  • Old ipod 2 new ipod, please help!

    Good evening friends,
I hope you are well. I am planning to get an 160GB ipod classic next week.
I currently have a 4th generation ipod (not colour screen) with about 8,000 songs on it. These songs are not on my computer as I manually update my ipod, this is because i use a work laptop and they constantly update it / change it and I am scared I lose my songs.
I am very worried about losing all my music on my ipod as it has taken me ages to put them all on, however I believe that there is no way to transfer these songs from the existing ipod to my new one??????
I have seen programs - ipod2ipod, etc are these any good?
I am leaving my work to go travelling and will be handing the laptop in soon so I am keen to transfer all music, pictures etc onto new ipod, but not store them on laptop?
I would be very grateful for your help? i am very scared!!!!!
    Best Regards,
    NJT

You can't transfer directly from one iPod to another so at least until you load the new one you'll have to copy the songs back to your computer. Once they are back in iTunes you can add them onto your new iPod.
Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I cannot download my old itunes library to my new ipod - please help!!!!

Unfortunately in August 2006 someone nicked my Ipod mini - thanks! So my insurance co. replaced it with an ipod nano. I've installed the new software disk that came with my ipod nano and hooked up with the old itunes library to my new ipod nano. Simple huh? Not likely. It says I have too many tunes in my itunes library to download to my new ipod. However the mini and nano are both the same size -4G so why now is it telling my I have too many songs to download to my ipod nano? I have even deselected some from the library but no luck. My old ipod mini was not full to capacity anyway? any ideas?
It could be that my current pc is not logged to the internet - AOL fault currently being sorted but surely that should not stop me updating my ipod? The tunes are in the library the new 4g ipod (allbeit a nano and not a mini as was) is connected yet the **** thing says I have too many tunes selcted to download WHEN I KNOW I DONT! Help......... please does anyone have a clue where i'm going wrong its driving my nuts!

Why not?  What happens when  you try?
Is the content selected to sync?

  • Upgrading Ipod to touch...able to transfer songs from itunes to new ipod?

I'm upgrading my ipod to a touch. Will I be able to transfer all of my songs from my library to my new ipod? I guess I was under the assumption that you can only have one ipod synced to your library.

  • Ipod NEED HELP :)

So am going to contact apple store to get my Ipod 8gb touch screen fixed but i was wondering how do i get all my photos back from my ipod i really don't care about my music but my pictures are the most important is there anyway i can have them transfered to my new ipod
    Thank you again.

No. Apple exchanges your iPod for a refurbished iPod.  Apple says:
Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No. You will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data, songs, or after-market personalizations. Before you submit your iPod for service, it is your responsibility to keep a separate backup copy of the data stored on your iPod and reinstall that data.
Attention iPod touch customers: Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPod touch and does not offer any data transfer service.
Following service your replacement iPod touch may have a newer operating system (iOS) version and you will need to restore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). As a result, you may also need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check iTunes to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.

  • New iPod needed?

Hi, my iPod was showing an unhappy face a few weeks ago, it then started to miraculously work and then stopped again. Its quite an old one (about 3 - 4 years) and has a click wheel, think its 4th gen? Anyway, my question is (!!) is it knackered and should I just get a new one? If I do get a new one, how do I make sure that my existing iTunes updates the new iPod?
Sorry! One more question! I want to buy a new computer - how do I transfer my iTunes without the libary being wiped?
    Thanks for any help!

Normally, iPod battery needs to be replaced for around 18 months. You can either ask apple to replace for you or you can find some other 3rd party service company, of course you can replace by yourself if you are good enough on dealing with tiny electronic part

By the way, have you tried to do a Reset before doing the charging - pressing the keys of select and menu

  • New Ipod PLEASE help- skipping sings

This is what happens to me...I have tried the suggestions on the apple site but they don't work- I bought a new ipod bc this is what happened with my last one so I thought the ipod was the problem- but obviously it is something in itunes...Thanks so much for any suggestions!!!
Content you purchased from the iTunes Store won't play your on iPod. The content plays correctly in iTunes, and all non-purchased content (such as content imported from audio CD) plays normally on the iPod. The purchased songs' titles are visible on the iPod but appear to be skipped over without being played.
