Songs do not go in same album because of different artists

I have alot of albums that are soundtracks for dramas and etc. and obviously every song in the soundtrack has a different artist. when my music is in cover flow i can see that although the songs all have the same album name, they all have their own album. so say i have three songs in the album (all with diff artists), i would have three separate albums called the exact same thing AND have the same album art.
so is there a way to put songs with different artists into ONE album? or is that practically impossible?

One way is to select all the tracks and set them to be part of a Compilation (Get Info on all the tracks, then go to the Options tab). The album will then show in the Compilations in the Artists column of the Browser and not under a bunch of artists.
Or you can edit the Artist or Album Artist field so that the information is the same for all tracks. Compilations is probably the most common method for soundtrack albums and such, though.
Regards.

  • Same album name by different artists

    Hi Everyone,
Im having an issue that I have 3 x 'Greatest Hits' albums by 3 different artists. The problem is that on my 160gig Classic the menu shows each of the albums individually when scrolling through the 'artist' menu. However when scrolling through the 'album' menu the songs for all 3 'Greatest Hits' albums appear under 1 heading. They are not selected as being a compliation on either itunes or on the ipod directly. Is there any way to seperate them without changing the album names? Please Help!

    Hello rafagee,
I understand that you are not able to sync a few songs you purchased from iTunes to your iPhone and other devices.  There may be an issue with the file, but if you have the Apple ID and password used to purchase the songs, you can redownload them.  You can even download the song directly to your iPhone.  I found an article that will give you steps to do this on your computer and on your iPhone:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I brought an album from the iTunes Store, edited it, and put it onto my iPhone, but the only thing is, is that the featuring artists on the song are not showing, only the album artist, ive tried wipping my phone but no changes still, help me please

Basically I brought a album of the iTunes Store, Depzman - 2 Real, specifically, edited the album features, such as, artists and put the featuring artists, which before I edited it was placed in brackets at the end of the song title like most iTunes songs, but when i put it on my iPhone which is on manually handle music and videos, the artist which i removed from the song title do not appear, only the album artists, I have reset my iPhone completely using the delete all settings and content in the hope of it being the iPhones fault and it has not changed, urgh, what a waste of time / effort, now I have now gotten to the point of fed up cos I feel like I've tried everything, ive re-downloded them and done it all again, still nothing, so now I'm puzzled and don't understand why it wont appear the same on my iPhone as it does in my iTunes library, please can someone help me solve this pain in the ***, I'm OCD when it comes to music and if it doesn't appear the way it should i get annoyed / frustrated -.-
    anyway thank you

Thanks very much I have contacted them via this. Just hope they respond quickly- rather annoing! Greatly appreciated though

  • Songs for the same album are in different entries on my iPod

First of all, this problem isn't caused by album name misspelling(or unknown spacing in album names).
In iTunes, all the songs on the album "Black Holes and Revelations" are displayed together in one entry.
However, in my iPod, the songs get separated to different entries. Some entries have 2 or 3 songs in them, some have 1.
The entries for the songs have two different names. Some are listed as "Black Holes And Revelations" (a of and is capitalized), some are listed as "Black Holes and Revelations". However in iTunes, they are all listed as "Black Holes and Revelations" (no capitalization on the "and"). Syncing does not fix the problem, the songs of this album are omitted through the process (iTunes/iPod thinks that the album names are identical during the sync even though some of the "and"s are different.).
There are a total of 8 entries for the same album. All of the album artworks of the songs are accurate.
The iPod in question is a 160 GB iPod Classic

  • Song will not show up on album in Ipod

I have an Ipod classic.  In itunes, the songs on an album all show up there like they are supposed to.  But on the ipod two songs are not there and they don't play when I play that album.  I have had this problem before and changed the sort album, sort etc. and it fixed it.  I have played with the album name and sort options ad nauseum, and nothing helps!  Any ideas?  I really have no idea why itunes has to be so difficult.  Everytime i add a new cd it comes up with a new problem.

    Hi,
What is the exact message you see in iTunes when trying to restore the iPod touch?

  • Why does iTunes display the same album art for different songs, but from the same artist?

    Hi,
a couple of days ago I decided I wanted all of my songs to have an album art. Before I didn't actually care, but since I discovered the view mode with the album arts at the top (the fourth one) I began searching for the right arts, since I like it this way.
I've stumbled upon a problem though. When I add two or more songs from the same artist, iTunes chooses to assign the same album art to the songs. It chooses the album art of the song I added first to my music library. How do I get it to show the proper album art?
I use a program called 'Mp3Tag' to change all the information of my songs. When it's just a single, I end up having an 'artist', 'title', 'genre' and 'cover'. The rest of the information doesn't bother me. With albums I add more information though.
    Here's an example:
I added two songs, one being 'Usher - Climax (Kaskade Remix)' and the other one being 'Usher - Scream'. The one added first was 'Scream'. As you can see below, iTunes somehow assigns the same album art to both songs, while clicking on 'get info' clearly shows the songs have different album arts.
    I discovered something else though:
When adding an 'album name' to the songs, they will show properly, as seen below. The thing is though, I don't want to add an album name. When I sync the songs to my iPod, my 'albums' list will show all of the songs as well, which I don't want.
Is there any way to solve this another way where iTunes won't sort by album, but by song title?
    Thanks in advance.

Can anyone please answer my question?

  • Two songs did not download from an album I purchased. What do I do now?

    Hello,
I just downloaded an album, and 2 of the songs were not downloaded. An error message came up each time saying iTunes was not able to download these songs. How do I download the 2 missing songs?
    Thank you

See if you can find and download the tracks via this procedure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
    If not, go here:
    iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • Some songs not found in same album, same directory!

But I can "add file" no problem. This happens whenever I move the music directory or move the directory (I am careful to copy the directory exactly).
So, what is happening in Itunes that some songs are simply not found, although nothing has "relatively" changed except the path? I give it the new path and update the directory.
The downer is that yes you can delete and re-add but you lose all your hard work on the rating system.
    Anybody figure all this out?

One way is to select all the tracks and set them to be part of a Compilation (Get Info on all the tracks, then go to the Options tab). The album will then show in the Compilations in the Artists column of the Browser and not under a bunch of artists.
Or you can edit the Artist or Album Artist field so that the information is the same for all tracks. Compilations is probably the most common method for soundtrack albums and such, though.

  • Itunes not grouping the same album artist together

I have had a quick search but not found anyone talking about this issue, apologies if it has been mentioned before.
I have a number of albums that are mixed by DJs. I have set it up so the artists in each album reflect each individual song and the "album artist" is the name of the DJ. I have selected compliation and assigned an album cover. This works fine and each album is grouped together as one album as it should be. The problem is that iTunes doesn't seem to want to arrange these albums in the order of the album artist (ie. the DJ who mixed it).
If I order by "Album by artist" all these albums are placed at the end of the list and ordered by album name and not album artist. If I add the "album artist" category to the display and arrange by this, the albums get split up into individual songs - which is even worse!
Is there a way to get iTunes to sort these albums so they remain together as each album and are also arranged in order of the "album artist" so that eg. All albums mixed by DJ X appear first, followed by those mixed by DJ Y and finally those mixed by DJ Z?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Grouping podcasts
A podcast series will split up in this way when its feed is moved to a new URL. Merging the series requires editing all the older episodes so that they appear to have come from the current feed. Download and install Mp3Tag (not sure of a Mac equivalent offhand). Use it to explore the Extended tags of podcasts from the same series. PODCASTURL (formerly ITUNESPODCASTURL) is used to link different podcasts from the same subscription (as opposed to fields like Album & Album Artist etc.) and PODCASTID (formerly ITUNESPODCASTID) determines the order. Everything else seems to be optional. Backup your files, tweak a few a tags then play each track briefly in turn. If iTunes still fails to notice the updated tags try my script UpdateTagInfo (Win).
As far as I'm aware the order is determined by the PODCASTID, but if you need/want to modify the Release Date then in MP3Tag/Extended Tags it corresponds to RELEASETIME in the format yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ, e.g. 2008-02-20T09:10:52Z

  • Songs are not in the same sequence like on CD or iTunes

I am automatically syncing my iPod with iTunes, but for some reason the songs displayed and played in the wrong sequence. Its very annoying because I have some musicals that the songs must follow in the right order.
I reinstalled iPod software and re-sync the iPod, no change what so ever. When I connect the iPod to iTunes it displays properly.

After posting this, I went to Google and I found that a lot of people are having the same problems. I have around 1,000 CDs 16,000 songs on my iPod. And to to go to each individual CD and fix the problems will be a nightmare. The Apple tech support response was that they never heard this before, which was a real surprise for me. Because from reading on the internet a lot of people are complaining about this bug.
When I open the iPod through iTunes the songs are shown in the right order. But from iPod 3" monitor shows the songs in different order.
    Oh well.

  • Repeating same song one after another from same album.

    Hey there,
I'm using my iPhone as a playlist for a Cinema I work in, on the iPhone it has some advertisements, but I want it so that it doesn't repeat another advert if it's just played one.
    How can I do this?
    Kind Regards

I had a feeling it might have to do with rebuilding the library, so I did a search on that and came up with this link for iPhoto 08, which also works for this current version. Apparently it's not uncommon to corrupt the library when updating iPhoto (doesn't happen with my other programs, though, so maybe iPhoto people need to improve the system better.)
    http://www.simplehelp.net/2008/06/20/how-to-rebuild-a-corrupt-iphoto-08-database /
After rebuilding it, I actually did have the same dialog box come up twice, deleting two more albums, but that was it, leaving 30 plus albums intact. So in the end, I don't know what exactly the problem was, nor whether what I did solved it. However, if anybody is interested, the rebuild dialog box opens if you hold the "option" and "command" keys down while opening iPhoto. I checked off each box there and rebuilt.

  • TS1468 I bought songs from the same album at two different times on an iPod touch. After syncing to iTunes and following this article, they are still seperate. How can I fix this?

One album has 4 songs and the other has 3. The album artist, album name and "show" are all the same and they both have "part of a compilation" checked, but they are still two seperate compilations.

apparently no oone knows..  well I went to a genius bar and they figured it out.   Solution for this: Make an appointment at your local Apple store with the Genius Bar.     Thanks for nothing people here
