Songs dont show up on my ipod touch 5th gen
songs don't show up on my iPod. when manually selecting songs on iTunes i get an exclamation mark and sometimes its greyed out with a dotted circle. this only happen when I'm on the iPods info and look at its music. the files can be located on iTunes and play perfectly well. as you would think its very aggravating, i have no clue to what the solution could be.
what does the dotted circle mean?

I can't. The storage requied for apps varies greatly. Some apps only need/use 10 or so MB. However, some apss need like 5 GB.

I share a library with my parents, and some of their songs are apparently stored in the iCloud. These songs are showing up in the library on my device with the cloud image next to them, giving me the option to download them from the cloud, but they are already on my device. They play when I shuffle through my library, which is something they shouldn't do if I haven't downloaded them, right? I've tried going to the setting and shutting off the show all songs and all that does is show the same songs as of they are downloaded onto my iPod (which they are). I just want these songs off of my device. How would I go about accomplishing this?

Welcome to the Support Communities! If the songs reside on your iPhone, you should be able to delete them per the instructions below. If you see the download icon, you may need to actually download the song before you can actually delete it from your iPhone. Click on the link below for complete details. So I got a new ipod touch 5th gen for christmas. When I put songs into a playlist and play them they dont always play in the correct order, or sometimes they dont play at all. I had no problems with it the first week I had it but then all of a sudden it didnt play the music correctly. It will skip one song and then play another song a second time in place of it. Then sometimes it will randomly skip the last bit of a song and go to a different one but when I go in and look at the songs being played it says its still playing the song that it decided to skip. It also will play the songs in a different order than what I put them in along with the previous problems listed ocurring. Please let me know if theres anything I can do to fix this or if I should send it in to apple or maybe even take it back and exchange it for a different one. I have a problem with my iPod touch 5th gen 64GB. When I connect my iPod to my Mac Book Pro laptop my music that I've transferred to my iPod and music playlist will appear in my iTunes my music will play with no problem. Now, when I disconnect my iPod from my computer go into my music, my music playlist and music I've downloaded into my iPod disappears. I reconnect my iPod to my computer, everything shows. However, there seems to be a bug in iOS 8 or iTunes 12.1.1 that cause this problem and I have not seen a solution -
My Ipod touch 5th gen is connected to wifi but internet doesnt work on it. It is showing full connectivity but when i try using itunes or safari, nothing loads.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

On my old ipod classic I can play all songs on all albums by an artist in album order. Is there a way to do this on the ipod touch 5th gen? I can see how to play all songs by an artist but only in alphabetical order, not one album after another...

J.You can't please everyone ... some people want to be able to find a particular song by an artist and can't remember the name of the album from which it comes. By sorting all songs by an artist alphabetically you can go right to it. But I agree with you, I'd much prefer album order. Submit your feedback via the link provided, and yes the workaround is to create an On The Go playlist, or create one in iTunes.

I restored a new ipod touch 5th gen from my cloud and cannot get it to connect to itunes on my computer. I restarted my computer and ipod. I reinstalled Itunes and It still won't show up in itunes. My computer recoginizes it but not itunes.

when I connect my ipod touch 5th gen to my computer, it wont show up in I-tunes for me to load download or sync. 1 time out of ten it might come up in i tunes. but even when it does, on the summary screen in i tunes it still says ' please connect your device to computer in order to check for updates. so it there but its not! ive tried a new cable, and clearing all my settings on the ipod. un installing and re installing i tunes on my computer. i cant get it to work properly. only started doing this in last couple weeks. before that it was fine! i have windows 8.1 on my computer

Not clear you removed and reinstall ALL Apple software.
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

I have recently bought a new laptop and downloaded iTunes to it right away. I have not been able to connect my iPod touch 5th gen to iTunes at all since then. I have updated both the iPod and iTunes completely and both are up to date. I tried different iPods of the same generation and they haven't connected either. Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road while driving. For that reason, I'm also not interested in adding in headphones or additional devices that have the desired button functions. Going both forward and back would be great but I would be pleased just to have a "sight-free" way to go forward.
I've seen some mention here and there about ways to maybe change it so the volume buttons change tracks and holding the volume buttons changes the volume... but I don't know what's involved in that or if its even possible/recommended for a new 5th gen iPod. I think its a great device but its sadly lacking in music oriented functions and features... which is disappointing since music is why most people would bother getting one instead of some other "iDevice" :/Given that you cannot do what you have asked for, perhaps you simply need to find another solution to your root problem.

Simply don't want to hear it at this time.
For problem number 1. Don't put it on the iPod in the first place. (I know, obvious answer!)
For problem number 2. How about playing from a Smart Playlist (initially created in your iTunes Library) which has only songs you've not played recently?
For problem number 3. Hhhmmm! Create alternative Playlists for use in the car.
As for going back to the start of the "now playing" track.... Well, if your Playlist has only songs that you really, really want to hear, then you'll be looking forward to that rather go back to the beginning of the current song.
I'm not trying to be prescriptive, just giving you food for thought.
(They are all cheaper options than buying a car which can control the iPod from the steering wheel.)
