Songs from old computer aren't "authorized" on new one. HELP

Hi
I purchased songs from itunes using my previous computer (a toshiba) when I bought my new one (hp) i transferred all files to it including songs. 2 of the albums that I purchased from itunes while using my Toshiba computer will not sync to my ipod using my HP computer. I get a message saying that I am not authorized to play the songs. I have had the same itunes account name and information on the Toshiba and HP. What can i do? I dont want to lose the songs and I paid for them! HELP please!

hello, heres the quick solution. open up itunes, on the top of itunes you will see the word store, click on it, then go down to authorize computer. click on it. it will probably ask for you to sign in. after that, you will resync your ipod and viola! your good to go!
take care, physicsguru

  • Swap songs from old ZEN VISION:M to a new one

The screen is broken on my ZEN VISION:M so I can't operate it much at all. Also, it has to be plugged in to run. I am stuck on one song, but I can play and hear it.
Is it possible/advisable to just buy another one and take all the tracks from the old broken one and drop them into the new one?
    Thanks for any help
    Tod

    Hi Timcmahon,
The ZEN Vision:M has already reached it's end of service life. If you are able to connect it to your computer and see the device listed, you should be able to access the directory and copy the song out onto your computer without the need to see the player screen.
Once you are able to copy that onto your computer, you can transfer it to any player of your choice.
    Cheers,
    Colin-CL

  • I Copied iPhoto library from old computer, can't access in new one

I am a moving my data from an old Mac where I was using iPhoto 6. This computer is running iLife 08. When I try to open my old iPhoto library (which has now been copied onto my new hard drive) I press Option when opening iPhoto, and try to choose my old library, it is grayed out. What else should I be doing?

I am adding some more information: I have copied the entire library folder straight onto the new HD, I have every file, including the Library6.iPhoto to make sure I would keep the albums and calendars, etc. (a couple of yearas ago I had to recreate a library since I had not backed up, so I learned my lesson the hard way). What's should I try next?

  • How can get 40,000 pix from old computer restored by Carbonite to new computer into PE 11 or 12?

I bought a new,  faster, more storage Windows 8 computer.
I had 40,000 pix on old computer tagged with names, event, location, date with PE 11. Also several projects involving hundreds of pix.
Carbonite restored all files (250 gig) from old computer to new, and their tech support says they all are on the new computer.
I bought the new PE 12 and installed it on new computer.  It has only found 4,000 pix.  I don't at all like PE 12 after enjoying PE2-11 and managing all my  pix with it.  PE11 was clearer in the pix presentation.
Apparently when imported to the new computer, I lost the tags that went to events, location, and the person tags did not  separate family from friends etc.  I can't even find my projects.
I was so frustrated with PE12, that I installed PE11, but everytime I try to open the Organizer, it doesn't open.
Help.  I am so frustrated.  I am pretty sure  before I made the transition that I had written all tags to files.  When I put PE11 on the new computer, why won't it give me what I had on the old.
This is probably my 10th generation computer change, and I never had such problems before with PE.

I am using 10 and 11 instead of 11 and  12.  I tried to go back and edit,
but couldn't figure out how.  Sorry,  typing errorC.

Why would you think this?  That's an ignorant assumption to make.
Your media is only where you put it.
Either move it from the old computer or restore it from the backup of the old computer.

  • How do I unsync from an old computer and sync to a new one without losing data or actually syncing.

I have an iPhone 4S. I have always had it "synced" to my family Mac on my own user account, but I kept the "manage music manually" box checked, so it was never actually synced. I recently got my father's old macbook pro. I did not wipe it, but changed all the account information to my own. I plugged my phone into the computer and it would not let me click and drag songs into it. After a little bit of digging I found some settings that would allow me to fix this. However, when I tried applying these a message that said something like this appeared, " Do you want to sync with this library? Your device is previously synced to another library. Syncing with this library will delete all your data. Do you want to continue?" This isn't the exact wording but pretty close. So I tried troubleshooting that for about 3 hours. Eventually, I tried deleting my user account from my family mac entirely through the Admin account. I then tried plugging my phone in to my macbook, and the same thing happened. I have tried everything I have come across except actually backing up wiping and restoring my iPhone. I would prefer not to do this unless there is some way to get every piece of data on my macbook from my phone, as it has music from various libraries and I am not positive it will load everything. Is there any way to fix this?

I had the same problem. I solved by (I use Windows7, should be same for OSX):
    1. copying the library from the older computer to the new computer, at the usual itunes media location.
    2. on new computer's itunes preference (advance), uncheck the box "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library"
    3. open up this folder of media copied over from old computer, just drag over to itunes library, cursor will turn into plus sign.
    4. since you unchecked the box for "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library", you are in effect only growring the new computer's itunes library's database. Your media files are already under the folder on the new computer.
Now when you connect iphone to this new computer and tells you it wants to erase your iphone's library in order to sync with this one, go ahead, click yes. Why is this ok now? Because you've copied all your files over to the new computer. So when you sync again, your existing files are there on the new computer.
You should export play lists on the older computer to be imported on the new computer though.

  • How do I transfer pix in Elements 7 from old computer to Elements 9 in new computer?

Old PC crashed but I can operate in safe mode and get to files. Elements 7 won't open, though. New laptop has Elements 9 preinstalled.  How do I transfer photos to new laptop so Elements 9 recognizes them?  Do I just copy photo files from old computer and paste them into same folder in new computer and then open Elements 9 and import them all or is something else required?  Will I need to set up new albums or can I get old albums to transfer somehow.

Being able to retrieve media files is a good thing, but what would be still better is to find the catalog itself where the database and accessory catalog files are stored.
If you can do a search for a 'catalog.pse7db' file (probably hidden in explorer, you could be able to retrieve everything.
The process would be to copy the media files in the exact same folders as the original, and to copy the whole folder containing the catalog somewhere on the new computer. From PSE9 you could open the organizer and use the catalog manager to convert the old catalog : you'll have to navigate to the folder where you have copied the catalog.
Tell us if you need more details.
    Edit:
Another way would be to install the old drive in an external USB housing : if the procedure stated above is not adequate, that could be worth a try.

  • Is there a standard approved method of transferring your itunes library from an old computer (windows vista) to a new one (will almost certainly be Windows 7)?

Is there a standard approved method of transferring your itunes library from an old pc (windows Vista) to a new one (almost certainly Windows 7)? I can't find anything on the standard Apple websites.
If not, how do people do it generally?

Type " move itunes library" into the google search bar.

  • Songs from Old Computer to the New One

Ive just bought a new computer and want to know if theres a way i can transfer all the songs from the library on my old computer to the new one? Without having to import them all over again from cd's (etc). Thanks for ur help.

How to Copy and Move (Clone) your Music Files from One Computer to Another – or Archive Prior to a PC Re-Image or Reformat
This is the conceptual framework with related and important links. Apply and adapt it to your specific situation and equipment resources.
The safest, quickest, and most optimal method to move your Library to a new computer is to actually clone the entire ‘iTunes’ folder (directory) structure, rather than just copying just the song files. By copying the entire ‘iTunes’ folder and all sub-folders, you capture not only the music files, but the all-important ‘iTunes Library.itl’ database file (usually located in the ‘iTunes’ folder), which contains all the data about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). See: What are the iTunes Library files?
Install iTunes on the new computer. Then go back to your old computer and move (copy) the "iTunes" folder which usually resides inside your "…\My Documents\My Music" folder from the old computer to the exact same place (both Drive Letter and complete Path) on the new computer. When you open iTunes on the new computer it will look and behave exactly the same way it did on the old, Play Counts, Ratings, Comments and all!
NOTE: It is usually safer moving files between computers with the same version of iTunes!!
iTunes Files to Copy and Move to your New PC
    1) All music files in their current folder structure (usually located in and under the ‘iTunes Music’ folder)
    2) The Library database file: ‘iTunes Library.itl’ located in the ‘iTunes’ folder
    3) The Library XML file: ‘iTunes Music Library.xml’ located in the ‘iTunes’ folder
    4) Any XML playlist files you created for Playlist retention
    5) The two iTunes.pref files (optional)
    -- C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    -- C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer Inc\iTunes.pref
    6) The XML file of Ratings, Play Counts and Last Played attributes saved from the main Library and created by Otto’s SaveRatings script (also optional, but recommended):
“Download this: http://ottodestruct.com/itunes/SaveRatings.zip . It's a program, just run it like any other program. Run it on the machine where you're copying the info from BEFORE you move the files to the new machine. Click the "Save Ratings" button and it'll create a ratings.xml file. Now when you move the files, move the program and this file as well. Then after you make your new iTunes library, run it again and click the "Restore Ratings" button. Voila, all your information is back in the Library. Well, most of it anyway, it's not perfect. It'll tell you what songs it couldn't figure out though, and there's usually not very many.”
Here's a list of methods to copy and move your music files from one computer to another:
    1) Use an External Hard Drive (ExHD) to move the complete files and Folder structures from one computer to another (my preferred option). You can clone’ the entire ‘iTunes’ folder structure in one very easy step. Also great to have available for complete backups of your Library. External hard drives now run less than $100 for 200-250GBs of storage. See This Link
    2) Directly connect the two computers....
    - 2a) Connect them through a Router &/or Network
    - 2b) Directly connect using an Ethernet cable: Straight for using at least one Mac; or Crossover for PC/PC Instructions here.
    - 2c) Connect them via a USB-to-USB Network Bridge. Example here. There are various types out there (use Google).
....Then copy the files from one computer to the other.
    3) Use the iPod as a transfer device, as this extensive Apple link explains. It will be a bit easier if your iPod has a larger capacity than your music collection, otherwise you will need to perform multiple copy/move transfers. This well written process also works fine while using any other data transfer medium (ExHD, Flash Drive, DVD, CD, Zipp, Jazz, etc.).
    4) Burn several DVDs (at 4.7GBs each) with your music data files and folder structure, and load them onto the new computer. Re-writable DVDs are more cost effective (if your DVD drive can manage these types).
    5) Burn 6x more on CDs (at 700MB each) than in #4 above and load the files and folders on the new computer. Re-writable CDs are more cost effective (if your CD drive can manage these types).
    6) Use a larger USB Flash drive (1GB - 4GB) to move the files and folders. Best if the flash drive is larger than your Library, otherwise you will need multiple copy/move transfers.
These are links to various additional instructions on performing the transfer (read them all, but some listed steps may not be required depending on your specific situation):

  • I got a new computer and downloaded itunes to it, is there a way to get my song from my old computer with itunes to my new one without having to redownload them all

I was hoping i could just sign in on my new one and get all the songs to it with out redownloading them.

It is a reasonable question - we increasingly see the ability to access "my data" through the cloud rather than relying on local storage.  In the case of iTunes:
You can, in most cases, access and re-download previous iTunes Store purchases
If you subscribe to iTunes Match, your complete library - within the 25,000 song limit imposed by the service - will be available to you,
That being said, the most complete and reliable method is still to copy your complete library (database, media, artwork, ...) from the older computer to the new one.  If you've configured iTunes so that all your music, etc., is stored within the iTunes Media folders then you can just copy the C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes folder and all its contents from the old computer to the corresponding location on the new one.  Depending on the size of your library you can copy it across a network, using a thumb drive or an external (USB) hard drive.
If you have media stored elsewhere on the old computer the process is a little more complex.
