Songs from old iPod to new iPod?

Anyone who knows how it is possible for me to get my 60GB from my iPod photo onto my new iPod movie? I'm going out of my mind, trying for days and days
If there's no way - I'm getting very sad (furious!) now I have paid a small fortune to iTunes...
Hope you can help me - Monnie

  • Transferring songs from hard drive to new iPod

Will I have trouble transferring my songs from an external hard drive to a new iPod classic.  If so, any solutions?

As long as you import these songs from the external hard drive to iTunes first, you shouldn't.  Just make sure your iPod is configured to sync all of these new tracks via its Summary and specifically Music configuration tabs in iTunes.

  • Songs From Old Comp and New

My old computer borke so i got a new one. I added some some songs from some CDs onto my new computer. When i connected my iPod it asked me if i wanted to replace the songs on my iPod (Old songs) with the songs i just put on (New songs). But what i wanted to do is get the songs on my iPod (Old songs) into my library with the new songs or get the songs from my library(New songs) onto my iPod and keep my old songs.

"When i connected my iPod it asked me if i wanted to replace the songs on my iPod (Old songs) with the songs i just put on (New songs)"
Connect your iPod and when you will get the message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
"But what i wanted to do is get the songs on my iPod (Old songs) into my library with the new song"
If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Itunes Songs From Old PC To New PC

Hello, I just bought a new PC. I would like to transfer the songs from Itunes on the old PC to the new PC. How can I make this happen?
    Thanks,
    Doug

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same default location on the new computer. On a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have an iPod it can be used as an external drive and you can move the iTunes folder onto it: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Can't downlaod songs from old mini to new computer

Is there any way to download songs to my new computer from my old iPod? It say's that I need to sinc it but I don't want to lose all of my music off of my iPod?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Connect your iPod and when you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
If you want to recover the songs that are on your iPod and put them on your new computer, there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • I cant transfer my songs from old iphone to new iphone wont load into library

I cant transfer my songs from my iphone 3gs to my new 4s they wont load into the library ive tried everything and im stumped

All your media should be in your library. If for some reason this is not the case you should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the new device from the old backup
This process should switch set up your new device with the data and settings in your apps, assuming that is waht you wanted to achieve.
Might be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all sorted, make a backup!

  • How to transfer songs from old MP3 player to Ipod

I have just upgraded to a 30gig Ipod Video. I had a Sony Walkman MP3 player before. I have got a couple of hundred songs on that MP3 player that I want to put on my Ipod. When I plug my old MP3 player into the computer and open Itunes, the songs come up in the Connect Player format (Connect Player is the Sony Walkman software). When I try to add them to Itunes it doesnt do anything or come up with any error message. I know they are the wrong format, how do I change them into a format that will go into Itunes.

You need software that will convert the songs to iPod form. You can just google the phrase "iPod Music Converter". And if you cant find anything change the phrase around a little bit.

  • How do I transfer my Itune songs from old PC to new PC

I am in the process of purchasing a new Desktop with Windows Vista. My songs on my IPOD Classic 120 has been sync on my old computer with Windows XP.
I was told my IPOD 120 will not sync into my new computer. So do I transfer my curent songs on my classic to my new computer?

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Need to transfer songs from old computer to new one..??

I have a laptop that I was using while my main computer was in the shop for repair. In that time I got an Ipod 30 Gig. I connected it to the laptop and downloaded quite a few songs. After I got my main 'puter back, I installed all the relevent software and so on for the Ipod. I downloaded some new songs and videos to this computer, but it will not go on to my Ipod. I plug in and it asks if I want to overwrite my old library? Well heck no! I want to merge them..so to speak. Well, I let it overwrite but it didn't put any new songs or video on it. Said I was using another library at this time. !!! This is getting very aggrevating. Does anyone know how to get all my songs/video's on one computer and all of them on the Ipod as well???

The iPods will not auto sync betten mulitiple computers. You will have to set it to sync manually. Search for iPod multiple computers there are lots of posts telling you how to do this.

  • How do you move iTunes and songs from old PC to new PC?

I currently have iTunes installed on my work PC with Windows XP Pro. I want to move iTunes and all my songs to my home PC which is running Windows Vista Home Edition. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes to my home PC and need to figure out a way to move all my music from my work PC to my home PC. I tried backing up all my music to 2 CD-RW discs and then drag and drop them into iTunes on my home PC. The music shows up in iTunes but I am not able to play it in iTunes. Any ideas why? Is there a better way to move my music from one PC to another?

Have you seen this article about using your iPod to trnasfer your music:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
The same basic method works whatever storage device you use.
As for the CD Problem, do the tracks have excamation marks next to them in iTunes?
If So you may not have iTunes set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library" checked.
    See Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced.
If this option was not checked, the files stayed on the CDS.
