Songs have to be put onto ipod again

Hi-
Whenever I plug my 5G iPod, it seems as it has to transfer some songs again, that have not had any change from what I believe since they last were put onto the iPod. I have no idea what may have made this happen, but it may be because i listened to those songs or watched the videos...
please help

When you connect your iPod if you click once on its name in the Source pane you will be able to see what is being updated.
Ok, mine is set as follows:
Music pane -
Automatically update selected playlists only (I have a Smart Playlist that limits what goes on my 4GB nano)
Only update checked songs - unchecked
Open iTunes when this iPod is attached - checked
Enable disk use - checked
Display album artwork on your iPod - checked
Podcasts -
Automatically update all Podcasts
Photos -
Synchronize photos from iPhoto - Copy selected albums only
As I don't have the video iPod I'm not sure what to suggest except the usual when you have problems with an iPod:
The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall & Restore
You may want to post your question in the iPod Forum if you don't get an answer in the iTunes Forum.

  • I have more songs than I can put on Ipod.  How can I un-click all songs in an album without doing each singly, to reduce space? Thanks

I have more songs than I can put on Ipod. Will unclick some songs but one at a time is taking forever. How can I un-click all songs in an album without doing each singly, to reduce space needed on iPod? Thanks

Why not try syncing a smart playlist that updates automatically every time you sync your iPod?
    Try something like this:
    1. Pull down File > New Smart Playlist;
    2. Playlist IS Music; click the plus button;
    3. Last Played IS NOT in the last 90 days;
    4. Select the option to Limit to xxx items selected by Random and click OK.
Name the playlist that is created something distinctive then sync you iPod with that. It will automatically update based on the last played dates of a tune and you'll always have fresh content on your iPod. Modify the playlist as needed to make it give you the results you want.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont sync music it always gets stuck on a different song everytime and the puts the ipod into recovery mode!

    Hey guys
My dads 2nd gen ipod shuffle will not sync music. I try to sync the music by autofill and manually and it freezes for a long time, and then says the device cannot be found. It then puts the ipod shuffle into recovery mode and i then have to restore the ipod and loose all the data.

The shuffle may be losing its data connection to the computer during the time it is syncing.  If you have not already, you should shut down (power off) the computer.  Disconnect all USB devices (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used), including hubs.  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port.  Try repeating the action that is causing the error.
If that does not help, select the shuffle in iTunes and go to its Settings screen.  There is a checkbox for Enable disk use.  If that setting is checked, uncheck it.  If it is not checked, check it.  Basically, reverse the current setting.  Apply the change.  See of that makes any difference.

  • I'm trying to move my itunes from one computer to another, but in syncing my ipod to to computer, it only loaded the songs I bought from the itunes store. I have around two hundred songs which were not put onto my new laptop in itunes. Is there a way?

I'm not sure if my question entirely made sense. Basically I had an ipod nano and itunes on my family desktop, but my nano got stolen and I got a laptop for college. I synced all of my music from the desktop to my new ipod touch to replace the nano. I was told by a friend that I would sync my ipod to up to five different computers, and that snycing my ipod would put all of my music onto the itunes I downloaded onto my laptop. I dad everything, but the music i bought from itunes has transfered. That leaves me with around 200 songs I got from CD's which did not transfer. Is there a way to get these non-intunes store bought songs into my newly downloaded itunes library?

    Restore the iPod.

  • Songs have disappeared from my 1G iPod Touch

okay, so last night all bar 10 of my songs disappeared from my touch, they're all still on the device as the used space on the drive hasn't changed.
Heres a quick rundown of what I did leading up to the issue:
    - played a few games
    - browsed itunes for about half an hour, listened to previews and bought 2 or 3 songs
    - watched about 4 videos on youtube
    - decided to listen to some music so i opened up the music player
    - the app then froze, i could get back to the home screen but any time i opened the player it was still at a blank white screen
    - so i turned it off and waited a bit then turned it back on
    - when i opened the music player it came up with the 'you have no music, you can get music from itunes'
    - off and on again...this time it told me I had 7 songs, they were 7 songs i'd recently purchased on my ipod
    - off and on again...now i had 10 songs, 3 more recent purchases showed up.
    - off and on again about 5 more times...no extra songs showed up
    What's Missing:
    - around 7-8GB of music, as well as about $40 worth of unsynced purchases
    - A music video and my digital copy of Transformers 2
    Whats still there:
    - all my apps & data
    - 7 podcasts
NOTE: It should be noted that this has done it all on its own, as this ipod hasn't been connected to a computer for at least 2 months so there hasn't been any synching errors or the like...
I'm hoping the solution is as simple as restore and resynch, but then what about my unsynched purchases? Does iTunes allow you to redownload things without charging you?

i hadn't synched because every time i tried to itunes would jam and wouldn't synch
its a new computer, and should have no problems whatsoever with itunes yet all i seem to have is trouble with it, the store won't load on it either (and when it does load it loads as plain text html) which is why i did my purchasing solely on the touch...
it seems pretty arcane that you can't redownload songs from itunes if you've already paid for it....but oh well...
so does anyone have any idea why the touch would just stop recognising the songs on it all of a sudden?

  • All but 5-6 of my songs have been deleted from my ipod shuffle.  I can find the list in purchased but can't get them on my device.

Allbut 5-6 of my 44 songs on my Ipod shuffle have been deleted. They all show up on my purchases but I can't transfer them to my Ipod shuffle device.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How do I relocate missing songs that were originally put onto my iTunes from a CD?

Obviously I can't just navigate through my folders on my pc as the missing tracks were put into my iTunes via multiple CDs. How (without re-importing all my CD's) do I relocate all my songs/albums.
    Thanks
    Tom

It all depends on why they are lost and whether you have any form of backup or device that might hold them. It might help to identify which files are lost to iTunes which you can do with this set of playlists:
    Lost & Found playlists
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist. Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist.
Follow my instructions from the first post with a single missing file. Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. It will begin file://localhost and end with the filename. Search your entire computer for that filename. If it can be found then where it is might explain why they went missing and how they might be recovered. If it can't be found at all, you could try a few more. Failing that at least you know from the Lost playlist what CDs you need to rerip.

Just what does the message say?
It sounds like the computer does not recognize the iPod. If that is the case
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Songs have been deleted

"songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
all my songs have been deleted from my ipod because I accidently deleted the ipod selection button on the left side of itunes. All my songs are still on my library but I need to put them back on my ipod!

The same thing has happened to me!!! I recieved the "ipod selection" because my ipod nano library was bigger than my ipod storage space, but I deleted many of the songs since then. My nano hold 500 songs, and I have 498 songs now. I thought that by deleting the "ipod selection", the 498 songs in my library would be the songs on my ipod, but now I have nothing on my ipod and all the songs remain in my music library! I NEED them back in my ipod as soon as possible!!!!!
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes
Put all the music on one computer, make sure it is authorized for all accounts, sync.

  • How do you get your album's songs to stay together when you put them on your ipod/iphone, when some songs have a ft. artist?

How do you get your album's songs to stay together when you put them on your ipod/iphone, when some songs have a ft. artist?
Even when I try to change the featured artist in my I tunes, it won't stay with my other songs, and I want to be able to listen to my album in the order of the songs that the album has it.

The iTunes/iPod software isn't set up to let you sync songs from more than one libray, but if you manually manage the iPod you can add tracks from multiple computers without removing the existing content. Personnaly I think syncing with a library is a much better way to manage your iPod, so I'd suggest you just copy the stuff you bought at work onto a memory stick, then take it home and import it into your iTunes library there.

  • I purchased a song on my ipod and it is not on my computer library to put onto my phone

I just got an iphone.  I was trying to get my songs onto the iphone from the itunes library.  Several of my purchased songs will not transfer.  They are ON my ipod where I purchased them.
They show on my library, but say the item is missing and asks if I want to locate it.
They show as purchased when I go under my itunes id.
They do not have a download link on itunes store library, showing as if I have not purchased them
When I try to RE PURCHASE, I get a warning that i have already purchased it and should download the item instead.  THE DOWNLOAD LINK IS NOT THERE.
I have tried to sync my ipod several times, and it seems to go through the whole process and skip these several songs
I get a notice that thsee items were not added to my ipod because they are missing, BUT THEY ARE ON MY IPOD
I do not want to have to re-purchase 15 songs at $1.29  I feel like ITUNES IS RIPPING ME OFF.  Please HELP

    What did you try?
    What happened?
    Error message?
    What did it say?
    Any info?

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.
