Songs I don't own showing in iCloud

Hi,
this is a weird one. Basically I was browsing the iTunes app on my iPhone 4 (running the dreaded iOS6) and went into the purchased section. I saw there was an option to download songs not on my iPhone. Navigated to this and downloaded a couple songs but then I noticed there were some artists in there I didn't even recognize. I touched into the artist to see what song it was and it just continually failed to load anything. The artist I was actually trying was someone called Steve Mac. So I went into my iTunes to check the historical list of all my purchased songs and this confirmed what I thought, that I have never bought or downloaded a Steve Mac song. So this is an erroneous listing. It's unselectable but it won't dissappear, at least not since I noticed it yesterday morning. Unfortunately there are a couple more showing like this too. I can't confirm if this arose because of iOS6 as I have never checked this particular section before. Do others see/have the same - How can these erroneous listings be removed?
Many thanks,
Wayne

Ok I think I worked out what they are. David Guetta, Foo Fighters, One Direction, Steve Mac. Well I don't remember Steve Mac but the others were all part of the '12 Days of Christmas' promotion. So I guess it creates a glitch as they aren't available to download in the cloud as technically I didn't buy them but they stay in the list.
However, it seems the tv shows/videos are still available to download as things like Top Gear Christmas Special, House Pilot are available to me.
It's slightly annoying as the music won't show the all music not on the iphone in one list because of the above glitch. I have to go in artist by artist to see the songs. Hope that kinda makes sense.

  • ICloud backed up songs that I don't own

After buying a new iPhone 4S, I attempted to restore my iCloud backup because I was on vacation and had many unreplaceable pictures up to the point that my old iPhone bit the dust.  The restore worked to an extent, as the phone was back to the way my old one was except the part that I wanted the most. In Photos it was stuck at "Downloading 2 of 64" but nothing had downloaded yet.  I later realized the "2" was only the software assuming that any pictures on the phone must have been downloaded already.  I know it can take a very long time to complete the restore, but on day 2 here I decided to start investigating.
I found that it was stuck at trying to download purchased music, and was trying to download songs that belonged to my ex-gf's appleID, which all showup greyed out in my music list.  I deleted them from the download queue, but they all showed up again the next day and never came out of my music list either.  In my reading, everyone is saying that in order to resolve this you need to ditch your backup and start fresh, or some derivitive of that.  I really want these pictures from iCloud, any way to get the restore to no longer be hung trying to download songs I don't own and don't have the appleID password to just download and be done with?
Tried deleting all music, didn't work now only thing in my music list is the greyed out songs.
Don't have a backup on my PC that has the pictures I need.
Tried signing out, signing back in.
    Restarted multiple times.
Tried entering my appleID into the field when when it asked for the download, this has no effect.
Tried numerous other things, but open to suggestions...

AH, nevermind. I just downloaded itunes to my laptop last night and reformatted and restored my ipod.

I would like to show my available songs that I could download if I want, however the ones I've already downloaded to my computer are showing up still, which results in duplicates of everything (one on my computer, one in the cloud)

    No.

  • I purchased two albums from iTunes but neither properly loaded and I cannot play any of the songs.  I have prevously loaded other albums with no problems.  How do I delete these albums and reload them?  I don't see iTunes on iCloud.

I purchased two albums from iTunes but neither properly loaded on my iPad Mini and I cannot play any of the songs.  I have prevously loaded other albums with no problems.  How do I delete these albums and reload them?  I don't see iTunes on iCloud.

If the albums do appear in the Music app, hold down on the album icons and the X to delete will pop up on the icons. Tap the X to delete the albums.
You don't see a anything in iCloud, you see your previous purchases in the purchased tab of the store that you bought the content in. So you find your music purchases in the purchased tab of the iTunes app on your iPad. Tap on Purchased and look for the albums in the Not on this iPad section - assuming that you are able to delete the albums from the device.

  • What is iCloud?! I am trying to delete songs in my Itunes library and I follow the instructions and instead of deleting the song, it asks me if I am sure I want to hide this song in iCloud!?! I don't even know what iCloud is?

I need help deleting songs from my Itunes library. When I follow the instructions it ends up asking me if I am sure I want to hide this song in iCloud!? I don't even know what iCloud is!!!

It's the online version of the song you are deleting from your library, if you hide it you won't see it any more.

I need to know why songs in my library show and ICLOUD status of "waiting" and I can never play them.

The same thing happened to me.
    1. You will need to know the location of your iTunes library for later, the default is under music under your username.  If its not there find it and remember where it is for later.
    2. Then you have to exit iTunes and create a new empty library. To do this hold the option key when you open iTunes.  Choose create Library on the pop up dialogue. Create the library anywhere on your system, you can delete the entire library once you have completed your iCloud changes.
    3. When the library opens in iTunes it will be empty. Click on iTunes Match and click the start button.  after it finishes all of the songs on your iCloud match account will be listed under music.
    4. you can select up to 1000 at a time and delete them.
    5. when you have deleted everything close iTunes and open again holding the option key and navigate to your original library, usually in the music folder under your username.  You should be all set and can click iTunes match again and your account will be populated with the ones in your current library.
    6. You can navigate to the temp library you created in finder and delete it as it is no longer needed.
Good luck, I hope this helps.

    1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
    2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

  • I don't own any Apple devices. I used to though. How do I access my music in the cloud?

The dilema is in the title. I don't own any Apple devices. I used to though. I owned a nano I bought music for through iTunes. But now I own an Android, and a PC. But I'd still like to access and listen to my previously purchased music that I bought through iTunes. However, I can't access the iCloud. I downloaded the iCloud Control Panel for PC. It asks me to sign in with my Apple ID. But when I try to sign in, it says I'm not signed up for the iCloud. But there isn't anywhere to sign up online! Unless I just haven't found it yet. I can't find anywhere to sign up online or in iTunes. The lack of tech support and the difficulty of use is precisely why I switched to Android and PC. I just want the music I PURCHASED.

    Hi there Ginger,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article linked below provides troubleshooting tips that should help you resolve the iTunes Match issue that you're running into, where most of your music isn’t appearing in iCloud.
How to troubleshoot iTunes Match - Apple Support
    Songs appear to be missing
Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) might not appear in iCloud, or might appear grayed out. This can occur if your computer is not authorized to play that content. Try authorizing your computer, then manually update iTunes Match. To determine what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized for to play a specific song:
Locate and select the song in your iTunes library.
    Choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, locate the Account Name field in the right column. Write it down.
    Click OK.
Choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and enter its password. Click Authorize.
Choose Store > Update iTunes Match.
    So long,
    -Jason

  • Why aren't all my songs in my Itunes Library, showing as in Cloud?  I have Match on

Why aren't all my songs in my Itunes Library, showing as in Cloud?  I have Match on

    Hi,
Can you explain what you have done whilst matching your library. I have explained in previous posts what you should expect to see.
The tracks with the download icon are in the cloud but if they have the download icon, this would suggest that the originals are no longer on your computer. Where are the original files?
Your original post was regarding tracks not in the cloud. If you create a smart playlist with any of the following criteria - iCloud status not = matched, not = uploaded and not= purchased, you will establish tracks not in the cloud. What do you see when you have done this?

I bought a new external hard drive for backups, but time machine won't do a full back up.
I think it is remembering backing up onto previous external hard drives, which I don't own anymore.  How do I do a new full backup?
When I bought the new (used) iMac, I also bought an external hard drive for backups.  It worked fine, but my husband stole it.
Then I bought a new external hard drive (Seagate) and it worked fine for three weeks, then died.
So I just got a new external hard drive, which was put together from an internal hard drive and a hard drive enclosure.
Time machine did the first backup today, and it should have taken 9 hours like it did on the previous first time full back up.  Instead, it took 30 minutes.  That can't be right.  I want to start over and do a full backup to make sure everything gets onto my new external hard drive, but I can't figure out how to do that.  Please help.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    tmutil compare -E
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command will take at least a few minutes to run. Eventually some lines of output will appear below what you entered.
Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
At the end of the output, you’ll get some lines like the following:
    Added:
    Removed:
    Changed:
These lines show the total amount of data added, removed, or changed on the source(s) since the last snapshot.

  • I only show one iCloud on my IPhone that can do a restore. I synced it with my MacBook Pro and I think that may have messed things up. Prior to that I have several backups. Will a "genius" be able to access the info I need?

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

How do I get to play all of my music that should be stored either on the computer or in the cloud?

    Hi,
Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.
