Songs in iTunes not synching

I have multiple songs in iTunes that are not synching into my new iPod Nano. It is not a capacity issue and appears to only be .m4a files(and yes they are checked to synch). Furthermore, it seems to affect those songs where I edited the name, artist, or other attribute(but it doesn't appear to affect all of the .m4a's I edited). As you can imagine, those that I edited are the ones I most want to listen to - so this is very frustrating. Thanks for your help!

Until today, all of my music was on both my Mac and iPad 2.  I too just sync'd my iPad 2 with my Mac.  Originally, none of the music from the Mac showed up on iPad.  Tried again, and now some albums are showing up, but only a few.  Have plenty of capacity/space.  Also noticed the "iPod" icon is now a "Music" icon on the iPad.  Any ideas?
Sounds like you just updated your IOS.  Check the iTunes settings and confirm that nothing was changed:

I just recently purchased 3 songs from itunes not knowing that I had no money on my debit card (visa) left. My iphone wont let me update my apps and says that there was a billing problem with my last purchase. I dont know what I am supposed to do! I dont understand why it worked in the first place when it wasn't supposed to!

There seems to be a billing problem with the iTS.  I've been trying to make purchases today (Dec 9th) too and it reports either the iTS can not process payments or it says my card was declined. I even changed the payment method to Paypal (which is never declined) and still no go.
I don't think it is "you" but a problem at Apple.  Some popular new apps were released recently like Logic Pro and perhaps they're getting bombarded as they did when Lion was released.
Wait a few hours and then try again.

  • Why do some of the songs on iTunes not transfer to my iPhone when I drag and attempt to drop them?

Why do some of the songs on iTunes not transfer to my iPhone when I drag and attempt to drop them?

No one hear has any idea why you are having a problem without a lot more information. Have you checked Sync only checked songs? Have you checked "Manually manage music and videos"? Are ANY songs transferrring, or None? Are all of the songs purchased with the same iTunes account? ARE they purchased iTunes songs or from another source? Are you using the same computer all the time (the iPhone can sync music from only one computer at a time)?

  • All songs in itunes not playing

A few real bad problems here!
    1.  I am running Itunes 12.0.1.26 on a PC with Windows 8.1 it's a Dell.
*after almost a year of trouble recovering all of my playlists that had gone missing due to an itunes error I was happy to find myself two days ago with itunes operational...all of my 10s of 1,000s of songs listed properly and all of my playlists appearing fine.  Every song was there...itunes knew the location of each song.
BUT, now whenever I click on ANY song, itunes doesn't play it(I neither hear it nor does it appear in the top bar with the timeline moving)...this goes for ALL SONGS IN ITUNES - purchased from itunes, imported into itunes, other formats, same problem in all cases.
What I can tell you:  The computer is authorized, this is not just an audio problem(system sounds is fine, headphones are fine, other programs sound is ok).
the only other thing I can say is that in recent months I get this error every single time I open ITUNES:
itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration -
I click out of it and everything works fine, for months.  I looked up how to resolve that error message appearing here and deleted quicktime and reinstalled.  That is the only other recent change I have made here?
I would really , really appreciate any help on this!  So frustrated with the volume of itunes errors...if this doesn't work I am going to take a week off from work and move my library to Google play or other!  Thanks, PJ

    Hi pjholt,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with iTunes; I know how frustrating that can be, especially if it was working fine just a short while ago. If none of your music is playing in iTunes, but you are not getting an error about iTunes being unable to locate the files, you may have an audio configuration issue (which would also support the error message you had been seeing). If that is the case, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • Itunes not synching apps and books

    Hello,
suddenly itunes stopped synching with both my ipad (3rd generation) and my iPhone 3GS.
It properly connects (both with WIFI and with cable), does a backup but it doesn’t copy applications or books.
How can I make it work again?
    Thanks.
    Andrea

USB makes no difference. It's in the window iPod preferences of Itunes: I tab to the box "Contacts" and "Calendars" is. And each in turn is UNticked! On trying to tick it, a window pops up "no contacts available" (and "no calendars..." on the other).
and it continues".... contact synching cannot be enabled.... do you want to open address book and create contacts now..."
on clicking "open address book" it opens with all my contacts in it as before but does not link! (same with iCal).
That's something I had no probs with before. Seems to be an internal "link" somewhere that's not recognising my existing calendar/address book.

  • Duplicate songs in iTunes (not from iCloud!!!)

    Hello!
Just I have solved one problem (some songs from iTunes won't sync with my iPhone)
Sudenly have appeared another one: hundreds of my songs are duplicated.
I was surfing in internet with an idea to find a solution, one solution that I found it was to "Show iTunes in the iCloud  purcheses" it ok, theres was not any tick. But songs are always duplicated.
Could anyone help me to decide this problem, please.

You can't read one part and ignore what followed.  "went back into the purchased tab in itunes and the songs are still there."
He was only seeing the songs he had purchased on his account, which could be redownloaded.
If that's what you're talking about, you're just as foolish.

  • TS1510 My iTunes song library is not synching with my iPod Shuffle.I go to the devices tab, and the snych link is gray and not highlighted.  Does anybody know how I can transfer these songs onto my shuffle ?

I got a little Ipod shuffle as a stocking stuffer.  I spent lots of money downloading songs to my library.  My shuffle was plugged into my computer, and I thought my songs were being synched onto the shuffle.  They were not.  I returned to my iTunes account and went to devices, and the sync tab is not highlighted. It's gray.  How can I download the songs in my library to my shuffle ?
    thanks, Bob

Thanks for that information my friend.  I KNOW THAT -- but that was one of only three options they require us to submit, and none match our/my issue under community help forum.  I believe they should broaden that spectrum.  You seem like someone who is very well-versed in Apple products, it would have been nice of you to offer some sort of help, instead of telling me, and others, that this is an iPhone forum. Happy New Year...

  • Music Not Purchased from iTunes Not Synching

My iPhone 5 no longer syncs any tracks that I did not purchase directly from iTunes (such as those I uploaded from CDs.) The albums show up on my phone, but when I attempt to play the songs they refuse to start and a red stop sign appears next to them (as if they are coming from the iCloud, but not downloading.) Any suggestions?

  • Restored from Time Machine now some songs in itunes not authorised to sync

I started using Time Machine recently (2 to 3 weeks ago). Everything was working before, including my iTunes library. No authorisation issues, no syncing issues to my iphone or ipad. Last night I did a full restore from Time Machine backup and now I get authorisation warnings on some old songs in my itunes library, telling they will not sync to my iphone. The Apple ID it's using is an old one and I no longer have access to the email address. If there weren't any problems before the backup how can there be after the restore. Shouldn't the backup be an exact copy of the HD?

I did the restore from the most recent backup in Time Machine after booting from the Snow Leopard install cd. (The reason I needed to restore is because I was planning on selling the computer but then changed my mind. Stupid, I know).
The thing is, everything worked without any problems before I started using Time Machine.

  • Skippping songs, freezing, itunes not recogonizing iPod, etc.

think I have about had it with my iPod. I have had it a 1 1/2 years (which i have heard is the typical lifespan of ab ipod). Yesterday, my iPod just started skipping songs and freezing and making loud clicking noises. When I plugged it in to the computer, it said I had corrupt files. I started deleting the corrupt files (which seem to have played fine for the past 1 1/2 years but now suddenly were corrupt) and iTunes froze and said "not responding." When I rebooted the computer, iTunes would not recognize my iPod, so I could not delete the corrupt soungs or even restore the iPod (When I tried to restore the iPod, I got the message that there was no iPod attached). Long story short, finally got all the songs deleted and restored the iPod. Only downloaded about 20 songs to the iPod (straight from a new CD). Worked for awhile (30 minutes), then started skipping songs or freezing. Hooked it back up to the computer and of course iTunes could not recognize it. So had to reinstall itunes, restore ipod (third time in two days!) and did 10 songs this time. Same story skip, skip, skip, freeze. What is going on? Is my iPod dead? Reading these discussions boards has convinced me that iPods more often than not "don't work."
A friend of mine told me that when he bought his 20 GB iPod, the guy at the Apple Store told him not to expect it to last more than 2 years. Should I just buy a new one?

    For click sound and skipping
    Hello,
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
    A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
    Intermediate Level
    A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
    B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
    C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iPod updater.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

    Advance Level
    A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
    B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
    http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
    Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning ! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
    Last Resort Level
    1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery replacement (with pictures)
    http://www.kokopellimusic.us/KM_instructions.htm
Have I tried this myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

  • Itunes not synching calendar and address book to ipod

Hiya, has anyone come across this?
I plug in my ipod to firewire as normnal, Itunes pops up as normal, it updates the music etc. But it refuses to update my contacts and calendar. The boxes in the preferences are NOT ticked, and when I try to tick (update all contacts etc), it comes up with a window "there is no calendar / address book...." and when i press "open...for me" the address book / calendar opens, but doesn't do anything else.
I have already trashed the plists of itunes and the actual application and downloaded a fresh version of itunes. Still the same. the update ot OSX 10.4.4 did not solve this either
