Songs in order on iunes, jumbles songs on ipod after sync

Just recently I decided to update my itunes with some new albums, and now all of a sudden when I sync the ipod the songs that are in order on itunes, become jumbled on the ipod.
I'm not sure why this is happening now since I have never had this problem before. All my older songs remain in the correct order, but the new songs are not. Any clue on how to fix this?
Thanks

If iOS 5 installed on your iPod, then it's at least 3rd generation.
To solve your issue, try a Reset:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).

    Hello Jefflo64,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with syncing music to your iPod.  For issues like this, I recommend resyncing the music to your iPod.
If you are syncing automatically, resync content to the iPod by unchecking "Sync Music" and clicking "Apply,"  then checking "Sync Music" and clicking "Apply" again.
You can find the syncing steps in the following article:

  • Songs missing on ipod after syncing

After reading too many posts regarding itunes and ipod compatibility problems, I have to say that the lack of an official Apple representative as moderator or administrator is a major drawback to these forums. While there seems to be many knowledgeable people offering various opinions about how to 'fix' various problems, I am beginning to see signs that point to itunes7 software as the probable contributor. I say this because my ipod worked without flaw until I 'upgraded' with this software. I have read with interest and sometimes humor about many of these problems trying to find some resolution to mine. I have tried all of the 5 Rs except the restore. Thought I'd describe mine first before resorting to that painstaking process.
In the past month the syncing process has gone south. Sometimes it would sync newly added songs to my ipod, sometimes it wouldn't. Then it began syncing songs only to playlists under 'recently added' but not show them on the ipod as part of the 'artists' selections. And then last night it began 'erasing' songs from the ipod. I went from over 1200 songs to 76. And then this morning it added back a little over 200 songs it had 'erased' last night. And just for added pleasure, itunes now freezes and does not respond. Sorry for the long and rambling inquiry, but does anyone have any suggestions to my 'unique' problem? And further, does anyone know why the people at Apple are so unconcerned? I will not recommend Apple products to anyone from this point forward, even though I find their commercials enjoyable. Help !

It sounds like you the MacBook Air was not your syncing computer. You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer but you can manage music and videos manually among different computers/libraries.To do that
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

I'm simply trying to get enough space to update my 5s because of the whole thing where you're phone needs room to install an update. I deleted over 100 songs off of my iPhone while in iTunes on my computer. I decided to sync to see if it would show up, but all that did was add the apps from other people's devices in my house. Then I disconnected and my phone froze. I plugged it back in, got the apple logo and it loaded again, but still it showed 825 songs on my iPhone while according to iTunes, I have 666 songs on my iPhone. What do I do?
All I wanted was to update my iPhone but as usual, Apple makes things 10x more complicated than they need to be.
Apple isn't making this 10x more complicated you are.
If you deleted the music why are you syncing back apps from other user on your computer?
Have you tried deleting the music directly from your phone and then update over the air?

  • I have 1661 songs in laptop iTunes but only 1660 on iPhone after syncing. How can I easily identify the song that did not sync?

Is there an easy way to identify which song did not sync correctly?
I have performed a sync three times and problem remains.
    Thank you.

One thing that comes to mind would be if you have a music video and your iPhone isn't setup to sync videos.
You also may have one streaming item in your library that would not be synced to your iPhone.
You can try making a smart playlist where Media Kind is Music Video, or Kind contains Stream.
There are a few other instances where this might happen, but I would start by looking for these.

  • HT1386 There are songs in my library that do not show up on the device after syncing

There are songs in my library that do not show up on my ipod after syncing.
    Why would this happen ?

Do they play in iTunes on the computer?
Are they from a different source or format that the ones that do sync?

  • Song/artist order issue

My songs/artists are in proper alphabetical order in iTunes, but when I sync them, they're not in order on my iTouch!
Songs sync properly, but for some reason, when I hit "Music" on my iTouch, songs/artists are listed under the wrong letter, and in a crazy order.
This is not a case of "The" being ignored-- my B's for example, include the following sequences (I listen to a lot of genres, as you may notice):
    "Blue Suede Shoes"
    "Barbara Ann"
    "Body Language"
    Bare Grace Misery"
    "Basket Case"
    "Capital G"
    "Carrie-Anne"
    "Cast It Out"
    "Be Like That"
Under Artists, there is the following sequence:
    "The Beach Boys"
    "The Beatles"
    "Chain Algorithm"
    "Beck"
    "Chevelle"
    "Beyonce"
    "Billy Idol"
    "Daft Punk"
    "Billy Joel"
How do I fix this jumbled mess so I can find my songs easily again?

    Quick clarification:
This issue did not happen AT ALL before I upgraded to iOS 5.  I first noticed that songs and artists were "overflowing" the letter sections (B running into the C section) around December, but that didn't bother me as much.  It's been a few weeks now that the songs are in a weird jumble.
I have always used Manual Sync.

  • How can I download an entire CD with all songs in order.  ITUNES chops up the CD and groups the songs into separate sections.  why??

The new site is horrible.  I want to download a complete CD with all songs listed in their album order.  Instead, ITUNES creates multiple albums, each containing a few songs.  I want the entire album with all songs grouped together.  When I tried to creat a new album with all of these songs in order the site only lets me list 17 out of the 26 songs.  I am blocked from adding the rest of the songs.  The old site was so easy to use.  I want a list of all albums with the respective songs listed.  I can't get rid of the large album icons which are not helpful.

    Hi,
Is the CD  a compilation? If so, make sure that all tracks are shown as part of a compilation. Also add "Various Artist" to album artist field.
If the CD by a individual artist but has tracks that feature other artists, add main artists name to album artist field.

  • Problem in playing songs in order - First Generation shuffle

I've been having a problem over the past few months, when trying to play my songs in order on my ipod shuffle (first generation). When I do, it suddenly stops in a song and freezes (also flashes green on and off). I switch it off and restart it, but the same problem occurs. I've tried the 5 R's and lost count the amount of times I've had to restore it.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?
    Sal, Scotland

This was not the first site I encounered in my first two hours of searching . . . the other sites said that I could do this and that but did not provide the links to actual instructions.
When connected .. the Shuffle appeared as an icon on the desktop, and two itunes windows were launched.
I could not disconnect in a manner that satisfied the MAC even after ejecting from all three places. However, after connecting and disconnecting about 20 times, setting up an Apple ID 3 or 4 times, and randomly clicking various parts of the itunes windows for a few hours, I finally was able to delete and reload songs and actually have the Shuffle play more than two. I can now forward to more than one song at a time.
Hopefully, my instructions above will assist future Shuffle users or at least make than feel better in their random quest for useability. BTW - I did find a teeny tiny manual with lots of redundancies. After much squinting, I ascertained that this manual instructed me to click things that I did not have visible on the screen so it was not useful.

  • Recently downloaded new ITunes.  Can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Help????

Recently downloaded new iTunes.  Now I can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Never had trouble with the old iTunes format.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Changing song order in playlists - changes no longer show on ipod until sync

I organize my playlists according to how I rate songs; songs with higher ratings go at the top. When the last operating system came out there was a glitch where on the iPod (but not in iTunes) songs were ordered inversely, ie. songs with higher ratings were stuck at the bottom. This was annoying, but one bonus was that when rating songs on the iPod, the position of the song would change automatically. For example, if Song A had two stars but I changed the rating to 3 stars on my iPod, Song A would immediately move and join the other 3-star songs. The changes would then be tranferred to iTunes upon syncing my device.
Now, after having updated iTunes, the playlists are in the correct hierarchical order, but I can't seem to immediately change the order of songs in playlists according to their ratings. Instead, I have to rate the song and sync my device for it to change in iTunes, and then sync my iPod again to have the playlist updated on the iPod itself. This isn't a big deal, but I enjoyed the ability to instantaneously alter my playlists based on the song ratings. Am I missing something? Any advice?

What did you do when you " i recently added iCLOUD service "?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • If I change the nation setting of my iTunes in order to buy a song from the American iTunes store, then change my setting back to the Korean store (where you cannot buy music) will that create any problems with my downloaded content?

If I change the nation setting of my iTunes in order to buy a song from the American iTunes store, then change my setting back to the Korean store (where you cannot buy music) will that create any problems with my downloaded content? I want to buy an album that I cannot get hold of in Korea, but it is available in the US iTunes store. However since most of my apps are downloaded from the Korean store I'll need to switch back in order to update them. Does anyone know if there are any issues in doing this. I'd rather find out before I spend money, change my store setting back to Korea, and then get told I can't listen to the music because I bought it from the US store and my iTunes is set to the Korean store.
    Cheers.

You canot easily change your country settings.  The iTunes Store in a country is intended only for use by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.

Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance." - http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE

  • Need help: playing songs in order, strangewindow message, upgrading I-Tunes

I have 2 situations I hope someone can help me with:
1: PLAYING SONGS IN ORDER; WINDOW MESSAGE
I have CDs of music that when I load them onto my pc laptop the song names don’t come up—each song lists as “track 01” “track 02” etc.
When I try to play the album thru I-Tunes on my laptop, the songs won’t play in order. i.e. ALL the “track 02”s will play before going to “track 03,” then ALL the “track 03”s will play, etc. So I made a playlist of each CD.
Now when I try to play the Playlist, I get a window message that says, “The song “Track 01” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?” I can choose ‘yes’ or ‘cancel.’ YES takes me to folder selections. I find the song and click on it and then it plays.
There must be an easier way. I don’t want to search for each song one at a time in order to play an entire CD in order.
    2: UPGRADE
I need to upgrade. I have I-TUNES 7.0.2. I went online to apple.com and couldn’t find any upgrade option, so I clicked on “download I-tunes”. I got a window that says “download complete.” But how do I tell if it’s really installed? Where do I go on my computer to see what version number it shows?
    Any help is appreciated,
    Carolyn in Las Vegas

    2. Help->About iTunes
    1. You have done something that has confused iTunes about the location of the files in its library. Without knowing what happened, it's hard to make a specific recommendation, but if you moved your files around manually, move them back, and then, if you want to change the location, do it only by setting it in iTunes preferences and then using Consolidate Library.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo
