Songs in Slideshow

Can I use 2 songs in a slideshow. I can only attach 1 song. If so, how.

You need to make a playlist of the songs you want to use, and select the playlist itself, not the two songs in it.

How to add more than one song to slideshow music?

You can't use multiple tracks. Merging them into one, using something like Audacity is the way to go. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

• Problem using iTunes songs in slideshow

I am having a problem using a custom playlist from iTunes. I created a playlist in iTunes, pulled down the songs I wanted to include in the slideshow from the list and it worked. I tried to adjust the length of some songs by using the start and stop time on the Get Info Options tab in iTunes. That worked fine and the songs were shorter. Now that I have added a few more slides and want to adjust the length of the songs again iPhoto will not recognize the changes. Even though the start and stop boxes are no longer checked in iTunes, iPhoto still plays the shorter version of the song. I tried removing it from the custom playlist, I removed them from the iTunes playlist but nothing is working to get the song back to its original length. Can anyone offer any advice? I need to get this fixed before Saturday!

You might try creating a duplicate playlist in iTunes, "Second Try" and copy all the tracks from the first playlist to the second playlist. Now in iPhoto remove the original playlist and add the new playlist. If iPhoto thinks you are adding a different playlist, it may re-read all the tracks properly this time around.

• Use more than one song on slideshow?

When it comes to both Final Cut Pro HD vs. Final Cut Express HD...
With either one can you use more than one iTune song when making a picture slideshow? I currently just use iMovie to do this but with iMovie I can only use one song.
Considering upgrading but want this option.
Thanks!

Oops actually I meant iDVD ipo iMovie. But yes, it is a standard feature for music under Media in iDVD.
Does anyone know why you couldn't use your music from iTunes when making a movie in FCP? In my case they are home movies and I am just looking to jazz them up a little.

• Adding song to slideshow having problem

I have a song that is a live version and I wanted to cut out the first 24 seconds so that my slideshow starts right on the music. I went into itunes and selected the song, chose show info and made the song start on the time I selected. When I preview the song in itunes it starts exactly where I told it to. However, when I am in idvd and drag that song for my slideshow, it starts at the beginning of the song and not where I told it to start. Any clue on why it is doing this? It is frustrating me, as itunes has it the way I told it and idvd isn't doing the same thing. Not sure why those 2 programs aren't on the same page.... HELP

Thanks SD, I think that one sounds an authentic
workable fix. I shall try it out tomorrow and if it
works for me reward you with points.

Thanks so much for the thought, Alan!

• Multiple songs for slideshow

I am making a slideshow for a group event, and want to have more than one song, but no breaks to go click on the next slideshow. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks for the ideas. I'm just getting started in this little hobby, and it sounds as though it might get expensive!
Of your suggestions, all I have is imovie. I put the sound tracks together first, and then added my slides. The music extends quite a ways beyond the slides. Is there a way to make the slides automatically fit the timing of the songs, like in idvd? Or can I import a sound only file from imovie to use in idvd? Or would garageband (I haven't used at all) be a better application for creating the sound file? If only things worked together better--I love the way the iphoto slideshow applies Ken Burns, and the way idvd makes the music fit. I want it all!
One additional question. I do have Final Cut Express, which I haven't used yet. Would you recommend getting familiar with that rather than spend a lot of time learning how to work with imovie?
Thanks!

• Can't get shortened song into slideshow

Hi, I'm using iDVD to make a slideshow. I love this software, it's really easy to use and I'm only having one problem. I added a song to my show, and when I previewed the show, I decided that I don't like a bit of "talky" junk that is recorded at the beginning of it. I went into iTunes and told it to start the song a few seconds in to skip past the talking. Preview in iTunes is perfect. And when I select the song in iDVD and preview it there, it's also perfect. I re-dragged the playlist several times back onto my slideshow, but when I preview the show it still starts the song at time spot 00:00 thus including the talking. Does iDVD not support what I'm trying to do, or do I just not know how to do it properly?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The iTunes start and stop only work for iTunes. You'll need to make a copy of that audio track and edit it with a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus Pro, Audacitry or even Garageband and use the shortened file in your iDVD project.

• Multiple songs on slideshows

How do I add 3 songs to a slideshow using itunes on a pc? So far LR only lets me choose one song.

Splice them together using an outside utility like Audacity.

• Adding songs to slideshow

I've been having trouble adding more than one song to my slideshows. I've watched the video tutorials and read everything I can find and it says to select one or more songs and they will be added but everytime I do only the last song I select is added. Is there something different that I have to do to make sure that they all get added? I'm new to mac so it's possible that it's something really simple I'm just not aware of. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Does this help:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

• Is it possible to shuffle songs during slideshow??

I recently connected my iPOD to my stereo and TV. I would like to slideshow through the photos and listen to a playlist. This all works fine except I have not found a way to randomize the music playback. Song shuffle works in all other playback options.
Thanks,

So are you saying that with your iPod's setting set for Shuffle -> Music, then you start playing a playlist, and if you then go into slideshow in photos, the playlist is not shuffling?

• More than one song to slideshow

Is it possible to add more than one song to a slide show in iPhoto for the iPad? One song get's very boring after a while. It's easy on the macbook but can't find a way on the iPad.

You can't do it via the Photos app itself, but a workaround is to start music playing in the iPod app itself first and then start a (non-music) slideshow in Photos.

• Can I get more than one song to accompany a slideshow on my iPad?

I have set up a slideshow on my iPad. I have created a playlist for it but only the first song in the play list plays and then repeats. I would like the songs on the playlist to play in sequence during the slideshow. Any suggestions?
Thanks

It depends on your apps.
Photo Manager Pro allows 4 songs on Slideshows.

• When making a slideshow in iPhoto some iTunes files can no longer be found (cannot find link). How can I relink iphoto to the moved itunes files?

Hello everyone :-)
I am Using Iphoto 09 ver 8.1.2 & itunes ver. 10.2.2 in this situation.
I have recently moved my iphoto library & Itunes library files to a large external hard drive.
I have successfully set the computer to read / run both libraries from the hard drive & they are working well as a stand alone. ( I Have done this before)
Unforntualey this time I foolishly moved some itunes album folders around from compulations / various artists into the main media file before checking into what the ramifications would be.
After searching on here I learned that was not advised as itunes would not be able to automaticly find them since I moved them.
In itunes clicked on some of the exclamtion marks of the songs that I moved & linked them up to the main media folder so they could be now found by itunes. I believe itunes asked to look there in that location for all missing files & I selected that option.
It appears to have worked as when I click on them in itunes they now play.. yeah!
But now I am finding that when I try to add certain songs for slideshows in iphoto & imovie that those moved songs cannot be found by those programs :-(
( I assume the same would be true for iDVD)
So my questions are... Is there now a way to have those other programs find the moved songs?
I do have a older backup of my itunes media & I can try & move the album folders back to the original place they where by comparing the two but it is a very large library of 40k songs... so I thought to ask the knowledge & wisdom of the community before I attempted any further fixes.
It would take a bit of time but it could be done & I don't want to just use the older copy of my itunes as I have made many additions of albums to the library & added allot of album artwork as well. (Stuff that "itunes" & "tune up" couldn't automatically find)
Thanks in advance for any advice on this silly mistake I made.
Sal

Try the following: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Also delete the com.apple.iApps.plist file from the same Preferences folder. Then launch iTunes and then iPhoto. See if that will restore the links.

• Slideshow Audio--Can't Use I-Tunes Music Files

I am trying to add audio to a slideshow. When I click on "add media" it points me toward a music folder that includes i-tunes. When I open the i-tunes folder, I see separate folders for all of the artists whose music I have in i-tunes. When I click on an artist's name, elements tells me there are no files. Elements appears to be searching for MP3s .wav and some other kind of file as opposed to whatever format i-tunes stores files. There does not appear to be a way to add to or amend the formats that elements is searching for. (And even if there was, I don't know the format of all of my i-tunes music.) Any advice?

Thank you, Barb. I will attempt to implement those suggestions. However, it's a mystery to me why these work-arounds should be necessary. The link suggests that it's i-tunes' copy protection that prevents me from using i-tunes songs for my slideshow. But I doubt that. The photo editing program I used to use, Nikon's Picture Project, let me use i-tunes songs on slideshows with no difficulty. I simply click a button and it takes me to all of my i-tunes music. I would think elements could work the same way. After all, it's just a matter of playing a song, whose rights I already own, on a computer where the song already resides. No question this is personal use.
But even if I planned to "export" my slideshow to a DVD (which I don't plan to do) i-tunes' copy protection shouldn't prevent that. If I wanted to, I could burn thousands of CDs of i-tunes songs with no interference from i-tunes' copy protection. Why shouldn't those songs be accomanied by photographs?

• Music from itunes in slideshow

Hi Zach,
check out the video clips and see if you can figure it out.

Music menu for "on the fly" Slideshow
If that is not the problem then check out these links:
