Songs just dissapearing

I have a huge lossless library on my external HD. I have an organised library. Latly strange things happens:
1. Songs wich I know for a fact has been in its folder on the HD:
ekst HD>itunes>music>artist>song is gone. It could be track 2,5,6 and 9 of an album. The info in the playlist in the Itunes window is still there and I will not notice it´s gone before I try to play the song (i get the ! )
2. Duplicates of random songs are in the trachcan, while they are still on the eksternal HD: I have no idea of why they are in the trash.
Please help me resolve this. It´s weeks of work to put all the CDs back in.

same thing with my x fi. some songs are listed twice in a separate album. other albums are listed as unknown.

Could be two things:
- It is on a screen and you can't find it. Try using the Spotlight search feature and search for Safari.
- Somehow the restriction for Safari got turned on. If on Safari is hidden and will not appear on the iPod even via search. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions.
- Also try resetting your iPod?
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I have also had the same problem...
The songs appear to be random, and when I plug my iPod into the computer it is fixed. Sure enough, a monthish later, it happens again.
When my songs get cut off, they are stopped exactly half-way through. Apparently, the iPod thinks that is how long they are, because it plays the time that it shows (the total time only goes to helf of what it normally is).
This does not seem to be a matter of old software, as I am always up-to-date on iPod software, and this has been happening to me with version 1.4.1
I have not Restored my iPod, but apparently that will not help (according to the other posts).
I hope somebody can answer this (although I've posted it twice before with no luck, so...)

Hello! Feature of opening link in new tab when middle-click it has just dissapeared; now, when I middle-click the link, nothing happens - no new tab, simply nothing! It's not issue with a mouse, I've tried another mouse, and it's the same, and middle click works in other browsers; right click and "Open link in new tab" (as well as other options from context menu) work properly. Edit: Errrm, I didn't know exactly how this works, so I had the idea to click "Solved it" button next to both above posts, as I really was not sure which one solved my issue; now, as I clicked the button next to first answer, I see it appears as chosen answer, and no more button next to second answer; sorry, Cor-el; thanks to both for your willingness to help anyway!

Are you simply shuffling a list containing one song? When the song plays and you see the album art, do you see "1 of 1" on top?

With iPhoto open click Help from the iPhoto menu bar top of your screen. From the drop down menu click iPhoto Help.
Type slideshow music in the search field top right corner of that window.
You should see: To add music to a slideshow instructions.

Everytime I play a song and the song just stops randomly throughout and then iTunes just crashes... It's very annoying.

This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:

b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:

iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!!

Song just slowed down and died - can't reboot, can't charge...

Ipod is dead - while playing, the song just slowed down completely, warped like a dying cassette tape player, and then froze. Nothing on screen. Tried to recharge - pc doesnt' recognize, no icon on ipod, rebooting many times doesn't work.
Is there any hope? Is this symptomatic of a dead-in-the-water battery or a shot disk drive? I'm traveling in India for another month so can't send in for service until I return to US...any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tryed Charging the device for atleast 20min since this problem?
If yes,
Try to Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.
If the device still does not respond. You should try to restore the phone.
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force device into recovery mode.

To double check it wasn't misplaced do a Spotlight search for a few tracks you know exist. Spotlight will usually find them even if the files have obscure names.
If you really, really can't find any of this anywhere then it is possible it is all gone. Normally an update or doing anything with iTunes should not do this, but once or twice a week out of millions of iTunes users we see somebody who has lost a library. In that case you have to restore it from your computer's backup. If you don't have one (why not?) you have to rebuild the library from the sources. You can re-download most media you have purchased from Apple from the Store (not all though).

11 pages is the limit. If you have enough space, you could put more in but you won't be able to see it. You have to use Spotlight to find it.
Use computer iTunes to see beyond the 11 page limit. Also in here (much easier) you can group some of your apps together in a folder. Using folders you can have over 2000 apps.

You should be storing everything on your computer and you should always backup your computer. Have you failed to do these things?
If so, not good, then you can redownload some iTunes purchases in some countries. Open iTunes store, click Purchased under Quick links

Songs just keep shuffling when i try to open music

When I open the music icon on my iphone 4S the songs just start shuffling and won't play. How do I fix this problem?

Minimise the music app by taping home button then Double tap the home button then on the multitasking ribbon at the bottom of the screen hold one of the app icons until a minus sign appears and then tap the minus sign for all the apps you want to close. When done tap home button once. Then open music app again aand try again
