Songs locked in Nokia 5800

I got my Nokia 5800 on 3rd Jan in India.
I was not able to install any application that is available with "Download" app in phone. It was giving "certificate expired" error.
After reading some forums, for this problem I did soft and hard reset my phone 1 time each.
After that, installation problem got solved.
But now whenever I try to play any song, it asks "song is locked. Unlock now?". When I say "No", the song shows lock icon & cannot be played. If I say "yes", it opens browser window and does nothing.
Please help me. I can play not a single song due to this.
So, whats the use of my xpressMusic?

Had the same issue with my New Nokia 5800 brought in India yesterday. i.e
1) Initially application install would fail with Expired certificate. Then after searching the forums found about the soft reset of the phone using *#7370# to fix this problem.
2) Doing the reset above fixed the application install problem HOWEVER
3) NOw all the pre-loaded songs are locked up. And even if I select get license for the song, it opens a blank browser window.
4) I tried the factory reset (Rather factory defaults option in settings). It still doesn't fix the problem.
I am really fed up with Nokia because of this
a) My Nokia N95 display conks of first
b) Next I buy 5800 and it doesn't install applications by default
c) On trying the fix mentioned in the forum, all pre loaded contents get locked up
d) The Map application for India still doesn't show the National High way ANY MORE (other than those linking the NINE cities for which detailed map is there). When in REALITY the ORIGINAL MAP SET FOR INDIA with the Original Loaded MAP application in initial N95 showed it perfectly when I brought it. But after the first Map update last year, I lose that functionality, and even now it is still missing.

How did you get the songs to the phone? If they are received as Bluetooth transmissions then they will be sat in your message inbox - you need to save the attahced music files from these messages to the memory card then delete the messages.
If received by other means, check which memory you stored them to - your phone has a set amount of inbuilt memoty which is used for data processing anbd storage, if you have filled this up with tracks instead of transferring to the memory card, then they are taking up processing space.

When the transfer finished, there was a message telling me so. I disconnected the phone, opened up Music Library and selected Refresh Library. A progress bar started and very shortly afterwards this message came up: Refresh complete. 0 file(s) added. What, if anything, have I not done correctly :-(
Bt the way, is it OK to disconnect the phone from the computer when 'usb connection active' is on the phone screen?

Nokia 5800 locked after software update

Hey I was hoping someone would be able to help me. I've got a nokia 5800 express music phone. I updated it but then the phone got locked. It keeps saying code error and the green+red+camera thing isn't working as well... I got the phone from England but now I'm using it in sri lanka...So pls pls help me.....

Song's Format for Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Hello,
Am new to Nokia 5800 .... and I think that this is some weird problem I am facing ...
I got trannferred some songs through bluetooth (source :- bollywood.com) which are in mp3 format .I have saved the songs in external memory card which I can view in Albums section of Music Library .. Now when I try to play these songs, I can see a small yellow triangle indicating some error ,hence am not able to play these files through Music Library . However if I try to play the same songs from external memory (have to put extra effort to pick each individual song to play)its working fine.
I dont know ,what is the issue or what am I doing wrong ..
Plz help me .

May be the file is poor quality... use OVI suite player to upload. it will work fine

Nokia 5800 Preloaded songs Activation key

Experts,
I have updated my Nokia 5800 with nokia software updater but after update the software I restore factory setting then preloaded 218 songs does not work properly and ask for activation key.
Also I dont have pin for my mobile that comes with music
Please help me to find solution

I had the same problem . I approached the local Nokia Care Centre and they activated the DRM (preloaded songs) without any charge. The process takes about an hour and is done free of cost. Please do not forget to take the original receipt (bill) vide which you have purchased the phone.

Music player locked (Nokia 5800 XpressMusic)

Hello all. I've got a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic whose software I've just updated via Ovi Suite. The phone seems to work OK, but the media player (well, the music player to be exact) does not. My music library doesn't show up, and whenever I tell the phone to update the media library, it begins to work, and locks when it reaches 140 music files, everytime. Then it becomes unstable, sometimes I can close it but sometimes I must remove the battery for the phone to became usable again.
I'm using software V50.0.005, custom version 50.0.005.201.13, language group 09, model 5800 XpressMusic, Type RM-356.
Any help there? Thanks in advance.

Well, I've searched deeper in the forums, and found how to solve this. All it needed was a hard reset, after a backup, of course. It is now working like a charm.

Problem with Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Hello. I have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music for about a year now and been taking great care of it. I don't know why but a while ago it started freezing at times when i would try to turn on the camera..had to multiple times restart the phone and remove the battery in order to make it work (In the open applications menu it would show the camera running but you wouldn't be able to use it). Then i noticed that the two touch buttons it has in the main screen (dialing and phonebook shortcuts) wont work either, no matter how many times i press them nothing happens. Same goes for the Green and Red button on the left and the right side of the phone (Accept/Decline buttons), they won't work either when i'm on the main screen (wallpaper), they do work in the main menu though. I tried resetting my phone to manufacturer settings but nothing happened. What is wrong with my phone? Can anybody help me with it very please?

When you say restored "factory settings" I don't know whether you mean that you backed up essential data then keyed in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself); I would remove any memory card first and see if any difference before restoring device.

Nokia 5800 behaves strange

When i purchased Nokia 5800, i found it really good and i thought, this is my best phone till date. But lately, it really made me bad with tons of bugs showing every other day. Here are the list.
1- Install many applications in your phone and your scrollbar in Application will behave really bad. It does not scroll properly. You can not see the applications in the last row in grid view. You will have to tocuh the screen carefully to make it upwards to see the application icons that are not showing with scrollbars. I will soon paste image here as my cell is in Nokia Care now.
2- Change the font size of your cell to small and then do a grid view. You will not be able to see the name of icons. small font size works fine only with list view.
3. Play a big .flv file and after running smothly for sometime. It starts behaving bad. sound breaks and you are not able to listen sound properly.
4. Open a .flv file and while it's opening. Tocuh it to make full screen and you will see d-pad that you see when you play flash games. Do we need it while watching .flv. I need to wait for it to open and then only i can touch to screen to make it full screen. That shows it's poor performance.
5. Press quick media bar shortcut in home screen and you will see your clock hides first than other elements on the screen. It's shows the UI repaint is so slow that you can see the difference in elements being hide.
6. I don remember, if i ever played with my cell too much, but yet within 4 months of it's usage. My LCD is gone. When someone call or when i on the screen. It shows paraller lines with background colors of home screen icons. It functions when you touch the screen, but you are not able to see anything on the screen. It happens so frequent and your money what you put on your cell goes in vain.
Problems
1. I had a theme and a wallpaper in my cell other than default theme when i was doing a mass storage. As soon as i plugged the USB and it selected mass storage. My cell automatically changed its theme and wallpaper to default one that comes when you purcahse cell. It become slow and the last dialled green button stopped working in home screen. It woks in other screens but not on home screen. It means i am not able to dial the last dialled number.
2. One of my image showing more than 40 times in Gallery with the same name. What i did is deleted the one and it's no more in file system, but it's still there as icon in Gallery and when i try to delete all those duplicate icons. It says can't delete. General error. I have more than 40 dead icons and i am not able to do anything.
3. Sometimes my clock on home screen just dont displayes. Click on the clock's place and come back to home screen and it will show you the clock. but again move to any other screen and come back to home screen and again clock is not there. Everytime, i need to see the clock, i have to touch the clock's place and then back to home screen to see the clock and that too, till the time , i am in home screen.
4. Play some videos and your cell will become too hot to touch it. Feels like it will burn out.
5. My very old Nokia 2650 has better sound. when someone calls me and i am not in a quiet place. I have to open speaker to listen the voice properly. I feel it's low compare to my oldest cell.
6. Recently listened the songs on Nokia E63 with same headphone i use and the sound quality is much much better than my 5800.
Features Missing
1. Flv player does not give seekbar functionality. If i have a big video file say for 10 minutes and i want to see portion of it. I am not able to see. Either from start or from the place where it stopped. Why no seekbar like other players when play mp4.
Other than these, I have a long list of small small problems i face, since my cell is in Nokia care, i am not able to write them here.
If anyone else has the same problems, then please share here.

This most be because you have the theme installed on the card which is what the mass storage uses. Reinstall it to your main memory.

New firmware update for nokia 5800 is available for India. We are able to update it through Pc suit software update but nokia care is saying that no such official update is available. Lots of people already upgraded to new version and they are facing many problems. Every1 is posting there problem with new version in "new version is available for India now " thread that's why I am creating new thread to report new version problems here. 1. Same is the case. However, this is not a problem and digitally locked files are supposed to work this way. The solution would be to visit the nearest Nokia care center and have this unlocked, or wait hoping that Nokia would release OTA unlocking similar to N95
2. Same case. I will try keeping it on download on WiFi for a few hours and see if there is any response.

Nokia 5800 no light on the 3 buttons

Hey guys im having a problem with my nokia 5800. The problem is there is no lights on the front buttons in front of the phone but the buttons are responding well it's just they don't light up when you press one of them..

You could try a factory settings reset.
Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt.> Factory settings > Yes > Enter the security/lock code and OK.
(the Nokia's default security code is 12345)

First please don't call me sir.
Second, i believe they have done something really bad with your Phone, If you are sure that the IMEI number doesn't match with the one on retail box.
Now all you can do is a soft reset or hard reset. it may solve your problem, and return the phone to its original condition.
Soft Reset: Dial this number *#7370# enter your lock code, default is 12345.
(BACKUP YOUR DATA if you have any)

Nokia 5800 ans Nokia Music Problems

Hi, i recently got the nokia 5800 but the thing is it doesnt work with Nokia Music. I had trouble the first time so i jus unplugged it then put it back in then i coudl see it on the nokia music to drag songs into but now the program doesnt see it. I have it in PC Suite mode, the computer see's it, Ovi suite see's it, Noke pc suite see's it but nokia music just doesn't, What is going on here? Thanks

@emmrecs - transferring files could be almost twice as fast in mass storage when compared to pc suite mode. Also mass storage can work on any computer, macs for example.

WE ARE DOOMED! Looks like Nokia does not think the problem we faced is a firmware bug!

Things I found are missing in nokia 5800 Express M...

Tsup guys, I`m having this new release of nokia s60 5th edition (Nokia 5800 Express Music) but since I bought it last month I`ve started discover some features are not working as I always used to see them to my previous handset (Nokia n73-1). At my previous nokia n73 when I`m on playing music that I`ve store in my handset and then the I receive the sms message its only makes a light beep sound even if I`m on profile that setted another alter tune for sms but in this nokia 5800 when sms comes in the middle of track playback its pause for a time from plyaing the song then start ring the current profile`s sms alter tune then keep on playing the track. On the side of adding sms recipients, if your forwading an sms to more than one person then you`ve started adding recipients by either searching or scrolling you might face some of the contacts doesn`t appear in your list after adding some others even if you do it by search contacts for typing the first alphabets of the recipients you are searching. So in order to get them you`ve to select OK then select the ADD RECIPIENTS again then you will find the contacts that were not seen before. Lastly, on the message writing. When I use the HANDWRITING style, I can write my things well but still up to know I`ve not yet find the area where I can erase the words that I`ve wrotes. Instead I`m supposed to change the keyboard type so as I can get the erease key. Can anybody help me to locate where can I find the erease key when I`m in mode of HANDWRITING style that uses a given special touch-screen pencil. I`m using it which means I`II keep discover many more things that seems these nokia have lack in this model & if there is anybody else found something please don`t hesitate to contribute here too.
