Songs no longer on iPod; how to safely sync?
I did an iTunes sync between my iPod Classic 160 Gb and my MacBook Pro as usual. Except that it didn't go as usual. The music is still there on my computer but the iPod has no songs on it. My iTunes is 11.0.4 which it says is the latest version. I'm afraid to reconnect the iPod to the computer for fear it will wipe out the songs in iTunes on the computer, at which time I'd have lost everything. On the Mac I went into iTunes-preferences-devices and to my surprise found "prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" checked. I can't imagine that it was checked before or how did the iPod always sync automatically? I did not intend to go in an change this setting and don't remember even going to settings. Also, I don't want the songs to go onto the iPhone or they would eat up all the storage capacity. Is there a way to do a one-way sync so that the songs on the computer would be safe?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Uncheck the ringtones in your sync options in iTunes and apply, check them again and apply once more.

Just replaced my old iPod, how do i sync it?
Ive had an iPod mini for the last 3 years, it is synced with iTunes on my laptop. Now I've just bought a new iPod Nano, and I don't know how to sync it. If I just plug it into my lap top will it wipe all my music off?? Help!
*I've just bought a new iPod Nano, and I don't know how to sync it. If I just plug it into my lap top will it wipe all my music off*
No it won't, it will load up whatever you have in your iTunes. You just need to connect your new iPod to your computer. If the songs you had on your previous iPod are still in iTunes they will load onto your new one. Follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like. -
Replacement iPod - how do I sync purchased music?
So my iPod was stolen and I just purchased a replacement. During the sync process it warns me about the 65 or so purchased items I have and says it cannot load them to my new iPod.
How do I authorize my new iPod to accept these songs? Is it possible?
Also - does anyone know of a way to flag my old iPod via Serial Number as stolen?
ThanksNevermind! I figured out what I was doing wrong.

Have new computer and songs on iPhone and Ipod Nano won't sync
My old desktop crashed so we had to buy a new laptop. I have downloaded iTunes twice and tried every trick in the blogs and nothing works. I have an iPhone 3Gs and an iPod Nano full of songs but the only songs syncing are the ones that I've purchased on my iPhone. Nothing else is syncing. Also if I access the Iphone from the my Computer menu it shows up as a camera and if I access my Ipod nano none of the songs show up. Is there a way to sync my iTunes library from my Iphone or Nano? Is the external drive necessary(these are the only explanations on the blogs)? If yes then I'm done because my computer crashed. Please help!!
It has nothing to do with de-authorizing the old computer. You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (because it does not have that function), except as you indicated, for songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that will allow transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links (if you use a Mac, add "mac" to he search).
Once the song files are on your new computer, add them to the iTunes library. You can simply drag the files, or the folder(s) containing the files, to the iTunes window.
NOTE: This is how you can de-authorize the old computer without the old computer. Run iTunes and go to the iTunes Store in the sidebar. Log in with your Apple ID, if you are not already. Click on your Apple ID at the upper right corner of the window to go to your Account Information screen. There should be a button to Deauthorize All. This will deauthorize your current computer too, but you can authorize it again. (You can have up to FIVE computers authorized for your iTunes Store account, so you can just leave the old one authorized.) -

Through damage, loss and resetting computers, my iTunes has synced itself to 5 devices (which I believe is the max) but I currently have my 6th iPod touch and need to know how to keep all this music and put it onto this other iPod. Do I create another Apple ID? Is it possible?
You can have 10 devices associated with your iTunes account for iCloud purposes. See:
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
You can have five computers authorized for one iTunes account. See:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
Just what are you trying to do and what message do you get? -
Songs transferred into my ipod go out of sync.
Hi everyone, my 1st post hope you can help me, when i put full albums from itunes7 into my ipod nano, sometimes in the nano 1 full album, will be shown 2 or 3 times in the artist category i.e elbow album leaders of the free world, when I go into artists > elbow will show twice with 2 tracks of the album on one entry and the other 10 tracks on the other entry. Yet when I go into albums > leaders of the free world shows just once and all tracks in the correct order.
I also don't know if its connected but the two tracks that are listed seperately in the ipod, are also out of order in the itunes listing. Help appreciated thanks, this has affected a couple of albums I have in.Yes, I have the same exact problem; it's very annoying and quite irritating that neither the iPod nor iTunes offers any way of deleting the incorrect lyrics [from the iPod]. Of course, since I had only been adding lyrics manually, myself, for a few songs, it just means that I won't add any more partial lyrics—but still, irritating. Definitely a bug (not a feature request!)

HT1386 I lost my music on iPod how do I sync from my iPad ugh?
Help!
You don't synch from your iPad. You synch all mobile devices to a master libary on a computer. If these are just iTunes Store purchases you can download them directly to a device that is enabled for networking.

Itunes got delted, songs still on ipod, how to get them back in itunes librar
my computer crashed so i had to redownload everything, now that i redownloaded itunes, and plugged in my ipod(all songs are still on ipod) how do i get them back into itunes library music section?
Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, click "cancel" when iTunes presents the dialog box offering to synchronize to the iPod. Or hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
MacMuse: Computer crashed
Hope this helps. -

I uplodaded/imported two CD discs (51 songs) into my library as playlists. Now, I cannot find a sync, or link, that allows me to download those 51 songs into/onto my Ipod Nano which is synced and connected. Any answers?
You can choose what to sync in iTunes when you connect your iPod, choose it, and then go to the tab "Music", there, choose those playlists to be synchronized.
If you sync your iPod now, the playlists should be synchronized. -
How do I sync my iphone to a different itunes account?
My whole family has been using the same itunes account for years now, but because of the recent updates we are receving eachother's imessages. We literally have all went in the message settings and changed the options for just our own phone numbers but we are still receiving each others so I decided to get my own account to get rid of this problem. I have went on my iphone and changed my messages, facetime and itunes to log on to my new id, but when I am logged on to my new account on my computer, my computer is not letting my iphone sync to this new account. So long story short, how do I sync my iphone (and ipad) to my new account? (I know that I will lose the music from the other account, I just need this fixed)
sure
